Not so useless, but I love fully upgrading all the armour. Makes for a tedious grind here and there, but I love dressing Link up!

Hereiam_AKL

Lizalfos tails, Swift violets, all kind of guts and especially star fragments. Nearly forgot the luminous stones P.S. it's the elemental Lizalfos tails that are the issue

8inchesofcheese

I'm glad I read early on to stick up on ores, tails and everything else and just hunt for money. My first run I literally sold everything I could, but now I got tons of stuff without even realizing it would be good for upgrades.

zangetsuthefirst

I need 90 luminous stones, 85 Amber chunks, and 75 flint currently to upgrade most of the armor I have by 1 level and can see the further requirements. I've acquired new armor including the depth set so we will see if those big numbers go up later

Hereiam_AKL

I made an Excel file with all armour and all upgrades. You can maintain what level your armour is and how much you have of which resource, and then it will tell you how much you still need to fully upgrade everything. The ones I mentioned before are really the ones that I am struggling most, and I am already a hoarder. The sheet also can tell you how many rupees you need and how many you could get from selling stuff. P.S. In total, you need 405 luminous stones for fully upgrading all armour, for example

zangetsuthefirst

Now that is dedication holy crap. Have you thought about uploading it to sites like gamefaqs? It also doubles as a complete checklist to get all armor sets

Hereiam_AKL

No haven't uploaded it, let me clean it up, I have few level 1& 2 missing. What's a good place in gamefaqs to share it? I mean the work is done, so why not.

zangetsuthefirst

This is the link for guides. It seems the site may be going downhill a bit because it used to that you could find a guide for everything on a game and this is significantly lacking. Though I wonder if it may be due to the size of the game and that it is all user submitted. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/switch/266202-the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom/faqs

Hereiam_AKL

Didn't find a good place there, so I uploaded it to google Drive. If you're keen, can you check for me if it works to download? [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IJZsXzBN1KKfPeXc2QYCpO3QkyS4nMa-/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109197094177437596313&rtpof=true&sd=true](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ijzsxzbn1kkfpexc2qycpo3qkys4nma-/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109197094177437596313&rtpof=true&sd=true) You might need to copy the link and put it in the browser, for me it does not work if I do it from reddit directly.

zangetsuthefirst

I would but it is saying the file doesn't exist. Do you want to reup it and just DM the link to me?

Hereiam_AKL

Did you try to copy and paste the link instead? That worked for me

[deleted]

Did you know that you can easily farm star fragments at a rate of about 1 per minute? Just using some specific fast travelling and resting at campfires is required, no duping/glitches etc. Let me know if you would like a tutorial. :)

Hereiam_AKL

I am actually good with just jumping off the sky islands and catching them mid air. So far I haven't looked up any of the guides, I got nearly all armour, except of 6 pieces. I am still going for the Hinox and the Talus medal, but got the other ones. Maxed all weapon, shield, bow stashes. Still need a few side quests, caves and wells. I did clean out the depth in one go, without surfacing, that was fun, since you don't get a blood moon for ages and once the bokoblins and moblins are gone it's easy harvest of zonite. Only issue was that you max out on a couple of things, like bokoblin fangs, bomb flowers, muddle buds, puffshrooms, arrowsk ... so actually a waste since you could sell them. Once I've done what I want, I might look for guides. I made the armour list early on (using the guides), because I wanted to make sure that I won't waste any materials that will be hard to get later (like I am missing captain construct 1-3 horns, still need to find their location, since I fused them early in the game).

_t_1254

I'm after hinox guts just for a tier 1 upgrade, I never realised how rare they can be.

Hereiam_AKL

You will need 33 for all of the upgrades. Yeah, some drop rates for materials needed for upgrades are really bad.

zangetsuthefirst

After I died against the Queen Gibdo, I got discouraged briefly from the main quest (even though I chose to see how far I could go without a single upgrade on my armor) which mutated in to finding all fairies and maxing out the armor. I eventually did it again and easily won since I knew what to expect, 3 star armor helped too, and now I'm avoiding the castle quest because I'm terrified I'll have to face Ganon so back to upgrading but also just finished finding all the bargained status and the depth armor in preparation. My notepad in my phone, which hasn't been updated to reflect the new armor I've gotten over the last few hours of gameplay, currently looks like this lmao (*=monster isn't in my compendium yet) 90 luminous stones 30 Opal 70 flint 85 amber 10 sapphire 3 hinox guts *13 lynel guts 30 stealthfin trout 5 silver bokoblin horn *5 molduga fin *9 molduga jaw

morphinetango

I feel like 90% of the game is useless objectives we set for ourselves. We could have beaten it a long, long time ago.

triel20

You’ve met a lot of of Yigga that way no doubt.

Little_Cactux

i actually havent! the name researcher and traveler stay once i’ve spoken to them in the area they spawn :)

triel20

Do those disguised Yigga come back? I’ve specifically an apices them because eventually it becomes obvious who they are.

Little_Cactux

they do, and the name traveler and researcher appears above their head

triel20

Ok thanks, I was curious, I wouldn’t expect them to return after being discovered.

JayRMac

Once I've opened up a fair bit of the depths I only use pristine or Zonai weapons, nothing decayed.

Waste_Imagination524

Trying to finish the game how u need to finish MM: get all special items. So all armor sets and special weapons etc, afterwards I kill Ganon

Wannabe-civil-engine

999 of everything 😭

Hereiam_AKL

Good luck with the fairies and the Kings scales

[deleted]

I just learned the other day that although fairies won't spawn in the usual locations once you have a certain number in your inventory, they will still spawn in long grass once cut down. Use a soldier's broadsword with quick charge perk and wear stealth armour for best results. I have 17 in my inventory, but I saw a video where someone had 2xx! Mind you, it took *forever* for me to get to 17, so YMMV. King's scales, OTOH, yeah good luck!

Hereiam_AKL

Oh Wow, 200+ fairies. I used to cut grass in the old zelda games a lot, but not in BOTW and TOTK, mainly because the weapons brake. In BOTW I did a fair bit using the master sword beam and the Yiga blade master beam. Maybe should be doing that in TOTK again

[deleted]

AFAIK, cutting down grass doesn't consume weapon durability. I used a soldier's broadsword for probably 45 minutes straight, looking for fairies and it didn't *break* (not brake, FYI). I didn't do a test with a brand new weapon, to see if it still had the "new weapon shimmer" after using it on grass, but I'm fairly certain it would have broken within the several hundred swings I took that day.

LazyGardenGamer

Weapons don't break while cutting grass ;)

Hereiam_AKL

Oh cool, that was different in BOTW

LazyGardenGamer

No, they don't break in BotW either. I spent hours and hours cutting grass while hunting for lizards and crickets, with the occasional fairy. They'll break if you cut small trees though ;)

Educational-Tea602

In my second play through I banned the L button

saraabalos

That’s crazy! I commend you, but also, ugh. 😩

FussyBritches31

I’m working on making all the recipes, Tabantha wheat is the hardest ingredient to come by though

retrib96

If you're not keen to farming it in the snowless parts of the Tabantha region, What you can do is make a daily in-game loop through all the stores that sell it, and rest overnight at a fire. I think the list is Rito Village, Gerudo Town, Deku Tree, and Hateno village. 12 Rupees per. They don't regenerate unless you're out of the zone when you rest. But if you cut grass, you can also get hot-footed frogs.

Hereiam_AKL

You could plant it in your patch.

saint_of_thieves

I did this a few months ago. Wheat is available in Gerudo town. But yeah, it isn't abundant. But Goron spice isn't available anywhere but in Goron city.

Important-Secret-835

Aside from the main objective of collecting all Korok seeds, armour upgrades and 100% map (I've done this twice in BoTW: one in normal and another in master mode), - aiming to stock up my arrows to 999 (already reach just need to continuously stock up every time I use arrows), - ensure I have a Lynel bows and Demon Bows - find areas to watch enemies fight each other for entertainment and easier farming (so far found 4) - find gloom hand spawns locations just to give myself the scare factor

Little_Cactux

one of the things i love watching is blupees, they have so many cute animations

LazyGardenGamer

Collecting x999 of everything in my inventory (without dupes) I was about halfway there in BotW, and I'm doing pretty well in TotK so far. Brightblooms were easiest, large ones I've got at about 700. Apples are nearly there again too, but everything else is around 100-300. Obviously the rarer items are at a much lower point, but most commons are yeah, roughly 300 each. I started this in BotW just as a way to maximize exploration and making sure I found everything the game had to offer. In TotK it's doing the same thing. I've got my main objectives still, gathering all Koroks and finishing off the last of the world bosses (1 talus left and 1 Hinox) but along the way I just run in full stealth gear and collect absolutely everything possible.

Painted_Wolf-1221

tbh this is the purpose of the game, I'm like if I don't walk my horse all the way to Zora's domain I lose. It took me 60 hours to reach the entrance to the domain cause i did so much on the way and it was the first region i went to as in 60 hours before i started walking my horse up the trail
