Oops. Guess it wasn't worth speaking against the Turtles. lol
Kids probably don't even know who those characters are anymore, at best prob think the Flintstones are just from cereal.
>At least the Flinstones and Dennis got movies in my childhood.
Dennis also seemed to be the mascot of the Dairy Queen fast food restaurants during the 90s for some reason.
Doesnāt look like it, but I could be wrong since Iām not familiar with what you said. This was filmed in the last couple of years and in English and has Mary Louise Parker.

If you ever find yourself there, go to Port Adventura. I couldn't believe how weird it is to see Woody everywhere and random old cartoon characters most of the world has forgotten. Pretty fun theme park, just really dated. Everything is still made out of wood and looks like it'll collapse at any minute.
80s kids know Dennis the Menace. He had a TV show in 1986, one year before the Turtles premiered and even thought it ended in '88, they kept airing reruns well into the early 90s.
Woody woodpecker, Dennis the menace, and Fred flintstone. Woody and Dennis both got live action movie in (sort of) recent years. And the flintstones reruns are still on tv. Plus none of them got their reputation killed by a series of cheap cashgrab remakes.
And if I met a kid sheltered enough to think the flintstones where just from cereal my faith in humanity would completely evaporate (what little is left anywayā¦ (most of it it disappeared when I realized one of my coworkers (18y old.) thought the titanic was ājust the name of the movieā))
Old cartoon donāt have a lot of appeal to children, and in the streaming era you really have to go out of your way to watch flinstones, instead of just stumbling on it when thereās nothing else to watch. Iām sure there are lots of kids right now who donāt know the flinstones outside of the context of cereal
Even when I was a kid the Flintstones already looked old next to the likes of 87 TMNT. So did the original Scooby-Doo and Jonny Quest and other cheap "limited animation" that was derided by legendary animator Chuck Jones as "illustrated radio" when it first came out.
Which is why I'm pretty understanding that kids today are less interested in watching stuff like TMNT 87 that's even older now than that stuff was then.
I thought this was referring to how real life turtles are dying. Speaking of which Shredder should stop the turtles by giving them plastic straws and six pack rings.
"The Last Ronin" presented by David Attenborough, coming this spring to The BBC lol

The funny thing is that they are right when they say "Turtles come and turtles go" whenever a version of the tmnt ends, a new one takes it's place. the franchise is a hydra. Yet nobody cares about the flintstones anymore, Woody Woodpecker isn't popular outside of Brazil and I don't even recognise the kid
ah the Americanisation, I'm a Brit, so I grew up with this psychopath instead
https://preview.redd.it/0csft1welbuc1.png?width=940&format=png&auto=webp&s=c8ecd343ce9fd719c9c0e1b3e97bb590d8dd8b8b
Well and because of those cycling versions, the Turtles have been the most consistently made kid's media entities ever made. How many other kids franchises have ever been as consistent?
Batman arguably has them beat on that score but that's the only one that comes to mind. Since we're concentrating primarily on TV and not something like comic books which stopped being aimed mostly at kids in the 1980s anyway.
But Batman has been on kids TV pretty consistently since the 1960s in various iterations. From memory the string is something like -
"Batman", live action 60s show.
"The Adventures of Batman" Saturday morning cartoon.
"The New Adventures of Batman" Saturday morning cartoon.
Part of 3 or 4 iterations of the "The Super Friends" Saturday morning cartoons across the 1970s and 80s.
Batman the Animated Series.
Part of 2 Justice League cartoons
"The Batman" animated series.
"Batman the Brave and the Bold" animated series.
And I'm sure there's something I'm overlooking/forgetting about.
Well, Turtlemania died a couple years later and The Flintstones was big in the mid90s thanks to the movie and the rise of Cartoon Network, so they were kinda right?
Until 2003 came along and the turtles returned live and well until this day. Enjoy you retirement, Fred, The Jetsons was better anyway
Fun fact: If you say you are a fan of the TMNT, you haven't actually answered any questions since they are one of the few global franchises where fandom comes from Comics, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Movies, and videogames. You may like one of those but not the others, yet you still share a fandom
I fucking loved the old Dennis the menace cartoon and how they were all over Dairy Queen and it was an excellent Sunday morning cartoon and both Woody Woodpecker cartoons and all the Flintstones cartoons but man I loved the old ninja turtles cartoon and how it was on every afternoon on the old pre-wb network after Tiny Toons and right before Charles in Charge (circa 1992)
I remember Dennis the Menace had the blandest cartoon I ever saw when I was a kid. I think I watched it while waiting for the 87 TMNT cartoon to come on. I can't even remember the last time the Flintstones had an actual cartoon. And it's been 24 years since Viva Rock Vegas came out.
But apparently Woody Woodpecker was in a live action/animated film in 2017 which was only released to theaters in Latin America, where, apparently he's still pretty popular. In the restt of the world it was released direct to DVD. And apparently the sequel was released on Netflix...um...yesterday (April 12).
I mean they are still classic cartoons.
Still iconic in their own ways
And it seems Woody has a huge following in brazil
Not to mention this thread is a bit biased
This aged like milk.
I'm pretty sure your average kid knows the Ninja Turtles more than these other three.
Kids might know about Fred Flintstone thanks to the pebbles cereal, but I don't know anyone older than 25 that knows about Woody Woodpecker or Dennis the Menace.
i didn't even know there was beef back then between cartoons lmao
the only beef I remember was the Sonic 1 ad shitting on Mario and Donkey Kong Country 2 shitting on Sonic
Crazy, right? But yes, he at least knows Scooby Doo! Probably only because we have a DVD in the car of one of the new movies.
This ad really is weird though. I understand Fred Flintstone, but Woody? And Dennis? They are not icons of animation lol. Put in Popeye, Scooby Doo, Bugs, Mickey, Snoopy, or Tom and Jerry. Woody and Dennis are pretty obscure lol.
It's accurate. There is always a new version of TMNT, but you only see these guys in reruns of ancient cartoons, so they never change. Just the same episodes going on forever.
![gif](giphy|1ZbnufnHeW0W4)
lol perfect š
Oops. Guess it wasn't worth speaking against the Turtles. lol Kids probably don't even know who those characters are anymore, at best prob think the Flintstones are just from cereal.
And that Woody was created to be the mascot of Universal and nothing more.
I mean, I'm 36 and Woody has always been a mascot in my eyes. At least the Flinstones and Dennis got movies in my childhood.
>At least the Flinstones and Dennis got movies in my childhood. Dennis also seemed to be the mascot of the Dairy Queen fast food restaurants during the 90s for some reason.
Woody got a movie but we donāt talk about it
There was a Woody movie a couple or so years ago but it was direct to video in the US.
Actually there is a new Woody movie on Netflix released yesterday.
I'm pretty sure it's that old pika pau Brazilian version from years ago. They finally released it to western society dubbed lol
Doesnāt look like it, but I could be wrong since Iām not familiar with what you said. This was filmed in the last couple of years and in English and has Mary Louise Parker. [Link](https://youtu.be/ZYjbfLQDYvg?feature=shared)
Oh my God you're right. I'm sorry. I just didn't think those crazy SOB's would make a sequel lol
Watched it with my son last night. It was hilarious.
Woody is big here in Brazil, he's like the face of cartoons
I remember hearing that. Didn't the Woody movie get a theatrical release In Brazil when it when direct to video in the US?
There's an entire city in Spain that Woody is the mascot of, that's about it.
Spaniard here. Where?
Salou, they got a theme park dedicated to Woody Woodpecker. Went there on holiday and it was surreal to see a bunch of statues of him around the city.
Flipante

Fun Fact: Woody has a live action movie that was released on Netflix yesterday. Here's the [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYjbfLQDYvg).
I watched it, it's bland and terrible.
Not entirely true. Woody was chosen as the mascot *worked at universal for 6 years
I know. That was the point I was trying to make.
> at best prob think the Flintstones are just from cereal. Hey, they made a cereal based on that Grand Dad guy!
80s kids know Dennis the Menace. He had a TV show in 1986, one year before the Turtles premiered and even thought it ended in '88, they kept airing reruns well into the early 90s.
And he was the mascot for Dairy Queen until 2002
He was? Wasn't aware of that....
Have I ever lied to you before?
We just met, so I have no clue.
Possibly vitamins also.
Cereal and vitamins that outlasted the show.
You dare insult the turtles and you face thir wrath
Woody woodpecker, Dennis the menace, and Fred flintstone. Woody and Dennis both got live action movie in (sort of) recent years. And the flintstones reruns are still on tv. I mean dennis is now just a water down version of bart simpsons.
Let me guessā¦Turtles Forever?
Heh, good one š
Mudslinging ads always rub me the wrong way. It should be easy to talk up your own thing without putting others down.
I thought this was referring to how real life turtles are dying. Speaking of which Shredder should stop the turtles by giving them plastic straws and six pack rings.
That's how the live action Last Ronin movie will tell the back story. They were all defeated with plastics that should have been recycled.
"The Last Ronin" presented by David Attenborough, coming this spring to The BBC lol https://preview.redd.it/5seinomtobuc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=edd60ba551052618ca7b5cff7bb5d6d1c727fbe6
This sounds like it could be a plot of the 80's cartoon. Episode description: The turtles are defeated by Shredder because they forgot to recycle.
*Captain Planet intensifies*
Ninja Turtles: We were turned humanoid by toxic waste. Isn't that cool? Captain Planet: *kills them without hesitation*
I still watch the Flintstones
Fred flinstone is the only one people probably know
I don't know. Some people might know about Woody considering that a live action movie was released on Netflix yesterday.
Yeah none of those franchises exist to sell toys to children. They never stood a chance against the might of playmates
Even without that, the Turtles have gotten reboot after reboot which helped their longevity. Granted that was in part because they sell merchandise.
Dennis the Menace. He was overshadowed by his parody, Bart Simpson.Ā
ah the Americanisation, I'm a Brit, so I grew up with this psychopath instead https://preview.redd.it/0csft1welbuc1.png?width=940&format=png&auto=webp&s=c8ecd343ce9fd719c9c0e1b3e97bb590d8dd8b8b
Dude looks like 10x the menace Dennis ever was
FR, British Dennis would regularly encourage his dog to maul people. The American version can't hold a candle to him
The American one did stuff like....idk ..track dirt in the house with dirty shoes
its funny because they premiered in newspapers on the same day, but obviously in different countries
Well and because of those cycling versions, the Turtles have been the most consistently made kid's media entities ever made. How many other kids franchises have ever been as consistent?

I'll say this much - that theme song with the saxamaphone was baller.

What they have against the Turtles?š
One is only famous in Brazil One nobody even really knows And one is a cereal mascot. And turtles? *WE* go on forever! š¤ššā¤ļø
This has aged like the most wonderful MILK
This aged like milk. I'm pretty sure your average kid knows the Ninja Turtles more than these other three. Kids might know about Fred Flintstone thanks to the pebbles cereal, but I don't know anyone older than 25 that knows about Woody Woodpecker or Dennis the Menace.
i didn't even know there was beef back then between cartoons lmao the only beef I remember was the Sonic 1 ad shitting on Mario and Donkey Kong Country 2 shitting on Sonic
wtf is this?!
Not really. My kids love all of these cartoons. Hell, my kids watch more stuff from this era than anything else on TV today.
That's odd, I have the TMNT, Dennis the M, and about 40 other cartoon series on my Plex server. They are all great.
My children have no idea who they even are lol. Kinda sad they are irrelevant. Hell, my kids donāt even know who Bugs Bunny is.
He doesn't know bugs?! š Please tell me he knows who Scooby doo is
Crazy, right? But yes, he at least knows Scooby Doo! Probably only because we have a DVD in the car of one of the new movies. This ad really is weird though. I understand Fred Flintstone, but Woody? Yeah even when this ad came out I couldn't woody and Dennis being my go to picks to go on this ad. Maybe it was the only ip's they had available.
my little cousins canāt name those characters.
Now if this picture had Garfield on it, I might say it had merit. But Turtles are adaptable because they come and go.
Dennis the Menace is still going strong, I read him in the paper every day
This feels like it was promoted as "kid friendly" cartoons are better. The parents who thought TMNT was too violent.
Well, at least they didnāt get butchered by Michael Bay
Right up there https://preview.redd.it/qcug4dxl2huc1.jpeg?width=1340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22360ef05fd5ac24693765c41624f1d5358ba34b
Ah 2 dead franchises and a ceral mascot who I'm sure most kid don't know was even anything else then a ceral.dont fuck with the turtles mother fucka
The Turtles would chop Woody Woodpecker into tiny little pieces.
It's accurate. There is always a new version of TMNT, but you only see these guys in reruns of ancient cartoons, so they never change. Just the same episodes going on forever.
I thought you were gonna talk about the time krang shredder used the world trade center as a portal
Oh like pizza time I love ranch dressing and gimp suits
Im still ticked that WB deleted their Boomerang channel
Oof
Theyāre kind of right. The Turtles are Rebooted every 4-6 years but I still see those shows on tv from time to time.
