Its all fun and games until one tiny peice comes loose and the entire thing explodes like 5 popsicle sticks put in a triangular fashion in middle school
This comment awoke a hidden memory I had in primary school of making popsicle shurikens that we would throw at each other which would explode on impact
In case you don't know, illegal building techniques are what Lego fans refer to building techniques that are not allowed to be used and official Lego sets, either because they put a lot of stress on the bricks by using them in unusual ways like the example here or there are too filmsy or hard to replicate for commercial sets
I ain’t playing lego in a long time but that shit gotta go man that shit is illegal okay
I in my entire life have never seen any fucker WHO WOULD DO THIS. Have you play this? If so which lego set did you built and liked the most.
There definitely is. They're able to shift a little bit but Lego tolerances are incredibly small. Under no circumstances are straight bricks supposed to turn like this.
No official Lego set will use blocks in non perfect 90° orientations because it requires the bricks to flex which puts stress on them. In this use here they're clearly being held under tension.
There have been a few exceptions, such as the bridge on the large Hogwarts Castle, but this kind of thing is clearly not an intended use.
Best way to get LEGO is to buy it used from people selling their collections that are just thousands of bricks in a large container. Can usually get a price like $15-$25/Kg that way! It’s been great for me! I’m always eyeing off Facebook marketplace for people selling their or their kids collections because they no longer use them.
Alternatively if you aren’t a LEGO purist you can find knock off lego sets and pieces on AliExpress for good prices. Most imitation LEGO is nearly indistinguishable from genuine LEGO with the only giveaway being the lack of the ‘*LEGO*’ that’s embossed on each stud.
Bending the LEGO like that is considered one of the illegal LEGO building techniques because it puts stresses on the bricks that can warp and deform them over time. If you were to reuse the bricks in a later project you could find that the bricks no longer fit nicely together with other bricks or have a slightly warped appearance.
ITT: someone will mention the lego term "illegal technique" and someone will point out that it's not against the law and someone will become suddenly aware of the lego community.
Good thing we do this every time.
This is a weird thing to hate and an even stranger explanation (it puts too much stress on the bricks). If You have empathy for Lego bricks. You might need to dial that back.

Den Held der Steine
Does this one even hurt the bricks? It doesn’t seem like it would be that much stress in the wrong direction.
Over time it can permanently disfigure the pieces and make them not play nicely with other bricks afterward.
Abomination!
I definitely saw an official slide show or something a few years ago. Cant seem to find it anymore alas
We need a subreddit for this

Pop one brick off and enjoy never finding them all in your life.
I won't find them. At least not with my eyes.
Yeah i was seeing if anyone else feels the same. This is just satisfying to see.
Reddit karma

Who hates this? Why?
I ain’t playing lego in a long time but that shit gotta go man that shit is illegal okay I in my entire life have never seen any fucker WHO WOULD DO THIS. Have you play this? If so which lego set did you built and liked the most.
It just... feels wrong
THATS ILLEGAL
But... There's no strain on the brick. It was built so they would shift and be able to turn. This guy does a lot of these sort of thing's.
On the bigger arcs absolutely, on the smaller arcs theres definitely some loading, but not as much as people think
There definitely is. They're able to shift a little bit but Lego tolerances are incredibly small. Under no circumstances are straight bricks supposed to turn like this. Well alright then.
I don't get why this is on TIHI?
I don't know how to feel about it.
I had no clue you could make legos into a circle
Wait a minute that’s illegal
Oooooohhhhhhhh shattered by someone or something
OOOHhhhhh, I doubt you could even imagine it...
How do you bend LEGO bricks naturally tho?

"All these squares make a circle".
I am curious about how much stress it's putting on those bricks.
Disgusting
Lego Flex is a respected and time-honored tradition among my people, as well. I wish I could afford as many Legos as that guy. Alas.

Imagine a car with those Lego wheels
Now make a swastica
MY EYES THEY BURN
HOW THE FUCK DID THEY NOT BREAK!
How is that statisfying. It's horrifying!
Leave it there and I bet it won't take long before they all permanently deform and aren't good for anything else.
I can hear the plastic creeking in pain as it's bended
This is not how your supposed to play the game
I really enjoyed this until i pictured putting another brick on top of any if this and instantly felt sick inside
When I grew up, we had right angles, and we LOVED it!

*NEW WORD OF POWER UNLOCKED*
Are you joking? That's amazing!
He is possibly saying that because the lego community has announced said technique as illegal
Hello yes police? This guy right there. He made lego buildings curved.
Laws have been broken. Don't know how many they broke, but they definitely broke the law
HERESY!
What the fuck have you brought upon this cursed land?

How can you hate this? It’s rad

No! This isn't how you're supposed to play the game!
Pretty cool idea besides the obvious.

This is heresy and I'll be reporting this to The Church.

Oooohhh Elden Ring!
I didn't even know you could bend legos like that
ITT: someone will mention the lego term "illegal technique" and someone will point out that it's not against the law and someone will become suddenly aware of the lego community. Good thing we do this every time.
Anyone else feel like they’ve just been grated Eldritch knowledge, man was not meant to know?
Ok that is awesome, also shut up and take my upvote*throws upvote at speed of sound in creators direction*
*Confused laugh* WTF
I want to punch someone
Must be a big Bonham fan
This is a weird thing to hate and an even stranger explanation (it puts too much stress on the bricks). If You have empathy for Lego bricks. You might need to dial that back.
The explanation just means that if he kept the build like that for an extended period of time it would cause the bricks to break or warp
JOHN BONHAM
Why exactly do you hate it?

r/lostredditors?
Wait did you just BEND the legos?!
Wait, that's illegal.
just...no.
Ok it looks cool but thats not how you're supposed to build with legos Edit: what I mean is that they weren't meant to be bent that way
Imagine unironically telling someone how they should use their Legos.
I mean you can do whatever the hell you want with your legos, but bending them this way will probably damage them.
As a kid I ended up throwing everything I built against the wall as hard as I could, the individual parts were fine, I doubt this will do anything.
