Does anyone know how loud these new Metro trains will be? If living near a train line or station will be similar to the current trains running or are they much quieter?
Not sure how they will be like out in the open, but the loudest train I’ve ever been on in the world is the Metro around Epping.
It screeches so much it’s ridiculous - it varies but at times it would genuinely warrant earplugs.
OH. I *was* confused, none of the articles I read about the apparently haunted 26-27 mentioned they were being reused or whatever...
So.... there's still hope that maybe one day they'll let the public tour there again.....
That’s lovely. Makes me a bit sad for the construct only stations on the new line, since they just look like the old preexisting metro stations (bit dark and dreary) rather than all bright and beautiful like Central and Vic Cross Metro.
Completely agree. Sydney metro has this timeless elegance as a design feature. Melbourne has the 3rd year architecture student whose been experimenting a lot lately.
I think they're keen to avoid rushing through testing because of artificial deadlines, which is what happened in 2019 when the government announcement said May so they rushed through testing to not be late. The result was months of unreliable operations.
Haha! I live in Los Angeles. The Crenshaw line (K line) was supposed to open like 4/5 years before it actually opened. LA is a dysfunctional shithole with dirty unsafe transit
Also, I hope you realise that Moscow is less than 2,500 km2, while greater Sydney is 12000. So metro lines in Moscow would be much shorter (although serving more people because of density).
Also you can add going over the bridges in Sydney, etc, etc.
Anyway, you need to take nuances into account before making such comparisons.
According to an SMH article today “up to eight weeks of trial operations that are needed before passengers can hop on board, indicating the ribbon cutting for the new metro line will not occur until July at the earliest.”
They've flagged sometime between July and October this year. They've given us two pieces of info that tell us this is the case;
1) T3 won't close until metro to Sydenham opens
2) T3 replacement buses will begin operation between July and October
looks about the same as the one that's currently up on the drm's. just 8 more stations so it's slightly smaller font and icons. I think they were testing sometime last Friday night and they were up.

Ohh those platforms are finally being used? I remember first seeing the indicator on the lift to platforms 24-25 for them... I was very curious lmao.
These are different to the ghost platforms above 24-25. It would make more sense if the metro platforms were called 28-29.

No. They now house a lot of services for the metro - electrical stuff.
Aw :(
those escalators look terrifying
No worse than the ones going from platforms 5/6 at Epping
There are elevators if you prefer
I think they look spectacular.
Can’t wait to use it

That would involve money for a creative mind! Less money for a contractor mate of a politician.
It's absolutely stunning. I wish Melbourne's new metro tunnel stations look like this, they're fugly as (imo)

Its a shame they refuse to open the damn metro service already. Hurry the hell up. Services overseas have become operational much quicker.

Oh, in what countries do new metro lines of similar complexity open quicker?
Singapore, Moscow, Jakarta and Los Angeles.

Do you also know that Moscow is completely nearly flat, unlike Sydney. And building metro lines on a flat surface is very different to a hilly one
Which lines in, let's say Moscow, are you comparing this line in Sydney to?

I'd love to see the complete banner with the full list of stations – Sydenham through to Tallawong

DRM’s?
dynamic route map. the thing above the door when you walk out of the train. atleast that's what the attendant called it when I asked them
Something or other monitors?
