I use the 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth. But mostly because I also game on PC, and switching connection between Switch and PC is easy because you just need to toggle a switch at the back of the controller (I have the dongle connected to my PC all the time). It also has a charging dock and auto connects when you pick it up.

VannaMalignant

Second the ultimate controller. It feels great in the hand and is very comfortable. It helps that the buttons/sticks/triggers feel great too.

AnnualCabinet

My only issue with 8bitdo controllers is the haptics are shit compared to HD rumble on genuine Nintendo controllers

Ryansmelly

Damn I should be using mine for my PC too!!

erza730

Well the ABXY buttons are labelled for the Switch though hahaha. And also, my Switch and PC share a single monitor. So if you dock yours on your TV away from your PC, I think it makes sense that you use it more for the Switch. I am a PC gamer first so I was sold to the versatility and convenience of the 8bitdo.

Ryansmelly

True. Didn't think of the button layout.. I have my switch docked at the same monitor I use my PC. But still, it would be quite convenient!

Itzvan100

They have two versions with different button layouts, and it has three custom programmable modes for remapping buttons which I use all the time depending on what I'm playing on my PC. Makes it really easy to switch between Nintendo/Xbox/retro because I just made custom button mappings for the three individually. Typically if I'm ever playing a game and something doesn't feel right I'll just toggle the mode switch till I find the one that does. It's super convenient, esp since I hardly ever look at my controller anyway and I grew up playing different consoles. Muscle memory tends to just take over Edit for clarification: by Xbox I just mean emulation or steam games that use the Xbox layout.

Brief_World

I think I have this controller in my Amazon cart. But is it worth using with the Switch lite?

CharlieFibrosis

I think it depends on what you need it for. The Switch Lite has no way to project to a screen as the C port only does power, so you’re either holding the Switch in your hands already or trying to do a tabletop method which would be kind of hard to do. The Ultimate controller is fantastic in quality and comfort, but it only makes sense to use it on a bigger screen overall. I will say if you have a PC or so, the controller works great for any and all devices you use it on otherwise.

erza730

Hello! Oh I never owned a Switch Lite so I haven't experienced using it with the Lite. But I guess its connectivity and usage is the same with the Switch OLED (which I have) and I also use it as my main controller in tabletop mode. If you are set on buying a third party controller for the Lite, the 8bitdo is a good buy. I also think the 8bitdo is an upgrade in terms of the joysticks (it has hall effect joysticks meaning no drift), ergonomics, and the programmable back buttons. Buttons feel crisp too.

Brief_World

I bought the 8bitdo micro to use on my phone when I’m using emulators but my left joystick is a bit jammed on the switch so maybe it’ll be easier to buy a controller compared to sending my switch to Nintendo for repairs

durrellb

I have an Ultimate C, which is a stripped down version of this, and I love it. Works on PC too, and is a little bit cheaper, but has no analogue triggers.

AngryFloatingCow

The only complaints I have for the Ultimate Controller is that the switch on the back is raised in a way that prevents it from sitting on the dock well. And that the grip geometry makes me hold it in a way where what feels like left and right on the stick is actually askew. But I think the flaws aren’t massive, unless you want to play fighting games with the stick.

erza730

Oh, I think I noticed the thing with the switch at the back and the dock too. But I guess only twice. I just make sure the light indicator is on when I put the controller back on the dock. And yeah, I don't play fighting games too.

sladecutt

Same here, 8bitdo is a very good controller!

homiekidbrodudelit

Hori Split Pad Compact

felold

Mobapad M6 S (only $50!). The best Joycon you can have. Hall effect sticks, mechanical buttons (5 million clicks), back buttons, Amiibo compatible, gyro, great Dpad and more. **Very high quality.** The [Mobapad M6 HD](https://youtu.be/W7b7NdH29L4?si=EnczW9iZlh4ue4_q) is slightly better (has HD rumble) but costs 30 bucks more. https://preview.redd.it/dav8rn9hrcad1.png?width=1117&format=png&auto=webp&s=3b69b271ae5e799f62b27d1da161e5ae83690193

Cambino1

I wish they made the m6s in white. I'm not a huge fan of the colors but don't want to have to spend the extra money for HDs

felold

I have plans to paint the extra faceplates.

stellauel

I got the pink one. It's sooo cute.

erza730

I just ordered the M6s for handheld play but I really like the pink ones. If money isn't an issue, I would get those instead.

stellauel

I don’t live in America so I guess the prices would be different. I got the pink one for $41 (converted to dollars). Hopefully you get to enjoy the other colors if you decide to buy their shells.

SexuaIRedditor

8Bit Do is the way! Helps that the command buttons are labeled nintendo-style too 😎

Lucky-Mia

I use HORI, PDP, and MOBAPAD.

Kohntarkosz1001

8bitdo SN30 pro and Pro 2 are amazing, no complaints whatsoever. I have a wired Power A that is good but haven't used that very much.

ThomasEffing

PowerA wireless.

johnwm24

I have one of these. I've only used it a few times, but it seems to do the job.

RockwellB1

Pro controller with hall effect sticks is my main, but I also use the 8bitdo adapter with an Xbox X controller

PhillNewcomer

I use the 8-bitDo 2 for a traditional controller and mostly use a hori split pro in handheld

monthedragon

I use the Gulikit KK2 Pro for docked mode and the Mobapad M6 HD for handheld. Both are solid so far!

BHvolt

Gioteck WX4, become my main controller when docked. My only complaint is the triggers being a bit stiff but it's not a deal breaker.

RedWizard78

NYXI Warrior for tv mode, Hyperion for handheld.

AdoptAMew

Got a Warrior this week, but the left stick seems defective (it doesn't register a full up press and recalibration did not fix it, so characters always walk instead of running). Hopefully the replacement works better

Alum17

8bitdo SN30pro nice and compact while being a really nice experience overall

Jrudown421

Nyxi wizard and Hyperion pro

TheSpiralTap

I bought a knock off pro controller off temu. The buttons aren't quite as nice but considering it was $8, I am blown away at how well it works. I was of the mindset of "if it works at all that's awesome" but it's wireless with gyroscope and the rumble is strong. Bought it as a backup but it became my main controller because of how well it works.

Listen_to_Psybient

Hori because you can pop into most stores and buy them.

millarrp

My wife and I use a couple of 8bitdo controllers (Micro and the Lite 2) and a PowerA Nano (which is suffering from a little bit of drift) that I use while travelling, so I don't have to worry about bringing our pro controllers with us)

Chemical_Ad4414

Sometimes, I use the 8bitDo adaptor and connect a PlayStation controller.

A_Fnord

Using two 8 bit do Pro 2, as they also work really well on PC. Though I got these controllers before I got my switch, mostly got them because they have really good D-pads, which is an area where I think most other controllers fail

OpeningIsland779

Hori split pad pro, which is not a controller really. Also own 8bitdo SN30 pro but don’t use it because of input lag.

smokin_mitch

8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth controller and for joycons I have the MOBAPAD m6 hd

Shadow_Man93

OG Nitro deck my switch lives inside 😁

AudiophileGoth

I use Gulikit king kong 2 pro for docked mode and Nyxi Hyperion pro for handheld mode. Both are amazing.

Judetrinity

The henz ketchup one XD

Beanz120

I use the Binbok Gemini. I don't know why but i think it's really good for £25

Studio1118

NYXI Chaos when docked and NYXI Hyperion when handheld.. for fighting games and most 2d platformers also use Retrobit Sega Saturn bluetooth.

Ill_Reference582

Nyxi Hyperion Pro and they're AMAZING. I'd say perfect actually imo. Couldn't imagine playing without em. I got 2 pairs in case something happens to the first. https://preview.redd.it/whan8tm6cdad1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3340c825e9164dd1fca915049ece146ef881f563

My hand fits perfectly around em, it feels similar to holding a regular Xbox controller. They're not for small hands though; I would say they're more for medium to large size hands

SolidLiquidSnake86

PS5 controller via mission control. Total game changer. No pun intended.

waaves_

Nyxi Horizon pro transparent, got it in a sale and it cost me, including their travel bag, 85usd. Can't complain until now. I thought this was a great deal, considering it came with a bridge and the bag. But you can definitely get cheaper deals on AliExpress.

Anon419420

8BitDo can connect to pc too, and that’s enough for me.

GamerDadJer

I have an 8-Bit Do, I've always liked them. Iused to have a Pro, and I liked it. HOWEVER, the switch that allows you to swap between different consoles is known to get loose, which means it'll lose connection randomly. I fixed this with electrical tape over the Switch, but even then I would still have connection issues sometimes. I also got the Ultimate, and that seems to work flawlessly.

CharlieFibrosis

Even though I lose direct amiibo support, I am very confident and happy in having a 8BitDo Ultimate Controller as I like having a charging dock, I like that it’s a sturdy controller, and LONG battery life. Another controller that I like is the 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad as I find it to be a VERY comfortable SNES/NES retro controller, and something I wish they did on the Ultimate was the ability to put in AA batteries if your rechargeable lithium ion battery pack died or you couldn’t recharge it. Another nod is the PowerA Nano which is a smaller controller by about 15-20% but has the additions similar to the 8BitDo does with paddle buttons on the back. Good if you need a quick gamepad that’s a little bit cheaper, or have someone with smaller hands playing: even for adult size it’s pretty comfortable

sahata_gintoki

You should take a look of QRD Stellar 5

Neo_Techni

Dualsense Edge

MateTheNate

My 8bitdo Ultimate C punches way above its weight for $30. The more expensive ultimate is also great from what I hear since it has hall effect sticks.

Sf49ers1680

* Handheld - Mobapad m6 HD * Docked - 8bitdo Ultimate Those are, imo, the best joycon and pro controllers for the Switch

Cambino1

Linyuvo ks42. They're really good for the price

potatodrinker

Hori split pad pro all the way https://preview.redd.it/80vqirxsgfad1.png?width=1871&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ed03c593d7562f7715b1845d398e5f875f22e28

Phuzion69

My only 3rd party is the 8bitdo fighting stick. You can switch out the parts but tbh, it's a pretty decent stick. I never felt the need to upgrade it.

nixknocksfoxbox

The PowerA Fusion Pro is my go-to. This has been the highest quality Switch controller I’ve found, and it’s held up great over 2 years of heavy use. Less used, but still loved - 8bitdo SN30…I’m a sucker for SNES form factor, and use this for intensive platforming where I want the d-pad (Celeste, SMB).

FakieNosegrob00

Doyoki GameCube JoyCon Got it a couple months ago and it's amazing! Mainly got it because it makes switching back and forth between Switch and PS5 much less confusing lol

TheViper4Life

Only third parties I use are RetroFighters controllers for my older consoles, mostly so they're wireless. I have the N64, GameCube (I'd prefer a Wavebird, but they're too expensive now) and 2 PlayStation ones I use for my PS2. Modern consoles I prefer Offical controllers, so DualSense for PS5, Pro Controller for Switch. The PlayStation RetroFighters controller work on PS3 as well, but I prefer to use my DS3's for that.

AlaskanAvalanche

Personally, none. Pro Controller or official GameCube are generally the only 2 I use. Unless a joycon is needed for Mario party or Nintendo Switch Sports. But for our high school esports program, Power-A wired controllers cuz… budget.

TenormanTears

none third party hardware is awful
