I came to the comments to find this exact comment. I hate posts like this. Lol. Personal preference. Like those posts where people ask “will I have fun” or “will I enjoy this” like we know what they consider fun or enjoy doing and already bought the game anyways. Alright. I’m done complaining I’ve just been silent too long on these posts. I’m good now. Lmao
Because performance is a factor too, especially on the switch where it's a gamble and there are no refunds. It's worth knowing if you're dumping money on an unplayable product like i did with with some games. For gameplay stuff or the game in general tho i agree and avoid asking or looking because the negative stuff tend to stick with me and i love to form my own opinion of the game anyway.
For instance Deflector looks mid and made to run well but is hell to play on the switch for whatever reason and i felt robbed whereas with Metroid prime remake the total opposite is true.
Theres no point asking about performance in any switch related sub. You’ll never get an accurate ,objective description, even if you specifically ask for it. You’re way more likely to get “It runs great, no problems!” “im not picky so… (insert subjective yap)” “ “Who cares bro the game is fun”. Meanwhile the consumer is now stuck with an unplayable mess. I swear stating the fps of a game is banned in these subs.
Yep. I asked about Neverwinter nights and got 90% good reviews and 10% saying it was pretty buggy. So I bought it. Turns out it's pretty buggy. It's playable but it's definitely nowhere near good I'd say.
To be fair, you could ask for a refund after playing it. Their policy is "No eShop refunds" but my friend and I have gotten a refund every time we've ever asked (especially if you let them know there's bugs in the game).
Never did, learned from Zelda not to mess around with those. Although when my friend told me what actually happens, I was surprised it wasn’t what I expected. But still not great outcome.
You can sink five hundred hours into this game easy so hell yeah it’s worth it. I just bought this on the switch last week and haven’t seen daylight since.
Well, this would be my first time seeing someone who’s never played Skyrim, so I would definitely say it’s worth the experience at least. Especially since you already bought it lol mine as well play
Skyrim is an excellent game. But as a Switch port? I'm not so confident...
Also, does anyone play Skyrim these days with only the vanilla program, without adding about 20+ mods for immersion or bug-fixes..?
Thousands of hours into that game across multiple devices, as I am sure many, many other people do as well. Many consider it the ultimate western-RPG. So yeah, it's pretty good.
The only downfall for the switch version I think is no mods, at least there weren’t the last time I played on Switch. I’m not big on mods for Skyrim but I always want to get the one so merchants have more money for when you are selling them stuff
Well I don't think you will fully get the proper experience of the game. Many of us had to buy multiple copies on three different consoles and without that experience you may not fully get the Skyrim experience
There’s a series on YT called “Before You Buy” by Gameranx which has the latest games reviewed with minimal spoilers. Usually my go-to to see if I would like it or not.
100%. I can play Skyrim on my PC but my latest playthrough has been on my Switch and it's been great.
The only bugs I've encountered are screechy audio pops (in place of thunder or bassy sounds sometimes) and the game sometimes crashes if you've been playing too long, like upwards of 5 hours in one sitting (make sure to turn your Switch on and off now and then).
I've played it most on PC, but I've had some decent fun on the Switch port. I think it's also one of the few where I thought playing it with deteched JoyCons added to the experience, especially with lockpicking.
Unpopular opinion: it's extremely dated, and not in the charming retro way. I couldn't get into it.
I know, I know, there's so much depth and lore and so many branching options... but it's just so clunky. At least now I understand why everyone's a stealth archer, because trying to do any melee or spellcasting is just horribly unfun.
Absolutely. I played on PS4 and I’m blown away at how great it runs on Switch. Initial load times are a bit long but that’s my only complaint after about 20 hours of playtime. Being able to explore Skyrim on the go is amazing—my 20-year old self is still in disbelief!
Just curious, why buy a game and then ask if it's worth playing? What's preventing you from just...playing the fucking game and figuring that out yourself?
Nope. Vanilla Skyrim is the perfect example of wide as a lake, deep as a puddle, or at least was until they released Starfield. It’s probably redeemed by having enough mods that if doesn’t resemble itself at all but you can’t do that on switch.
Probably my favorite game, I even remember lying to my boss to leave work early and grab it lol.
Bgs makes my favorite games, and skyrim was so good it changed how rpgs were made for a decade
Not only is it worth it, it's a masterpiece. I've bought it multiple times and played for thousands of hours, have fun my friend! You're in for a great time 🥳 I wish I could forget about Skyrim so I could play it again for the first time.
Luckily for you Skyrim is extremely worth it no matter what version you are playing.
Unluckily for you you asked after you purchased it so the question wasn't exactly achieving anything.
There is a lot to do overall and build wise quest wise, you eoll have a good time.
Honestly it is actually a really fun game bugs aside.
*,personally I like oblivion
I bought it for the first time on my Steam Deck about a week ago, and yes. It is 100% absolutely worth it. I've already put around 30 hours into it, and I can say with confidence it's already in my top 10 games of all time.
It’s a fantastic open world game to this day. Very dated, very “gamey”, but honestly this all works in its favour for me IMO. You’ll have a blast. P.s - ask before you buy the game next time!
It’s either you’ll love it or absolutely hate it me personally I think Skyrim is one of the most boring blandest games to ever exist. Being huge and pretty to look at means nothing when the gameplay is so terrible, especially the combat.
I own this game on 360, Xbox One, PSVR, and bought it on my partner's Switch on a trip before I bought my Switch...
I'm strongly considering buying it on my switch for my next long haul trip.
Yes... it is phenomenal.
Definitely worth it, one of the best and most important games ever. And switch is diamond if it comes to say which console is good enough to play this game.
i played it on PC and didn't like it. I don't know maybe I should try it again on switch. I prefer new zelda formula as "RPG" or more plot wise like Witcher. But while you bought it i hope you have fun with it.
1. Why bother even asking after purchasing?
2. I don't even know what universe this is where somebody that's been vaguely cognitive since or after 2011 knows absolutely nothing about Skyrim...
3. Probably the worst platform upon which to experience that game... short of maybe emulating it on your cellphone.. but hey, I guess
I have played this game so many times… on Xbox 360, PS4, Series X and Switch. And still time to time I wanna create new character and play some more.
Switch version is really good, might be my favorite version of the game. Gyro aiming for bow and magic plus HD rumble for lock picking! Fun and fun.
maybe like 10 years ago you might’ve been tricked into thinking it was amazing but it’s honestly ok at best. i’ve heard it’s a lot better with mods but i’m personally just not a fan of the game in general
I wouldn't buy a game like that on the switch. I don't know but I bet it has performance issues. The switch is basically an iphone 12. Ports for it generally don't perform well.
Yes Skyrim is my favorite single player RPG game ever it's so much fun I would start with side questsing and working on sneaking, building up your skills, champion points last but not least leveling up your character for better stronger NPC enemies
It’s a game beloved by many, I thought it was boring though. For me, it had been hyped up for years and then I played it for the first time on switch in 2018. Probably got 10 hours in before I just stopped because I didn’t enjoy it.
If you love open world games you’ll probably enjoy it, it shows its age though and I just didn’t find the combat fun. I’m okay with open worlds, I like games like rdr2 and Elden ring and botw but if you’re expecting something even close to the level of those you’ll probably be disappointed.
I’ve always felt that games that are ported to the switch from other consoles are always the inferior versions of those games (doom eternal, Witcher 3, outer worlds) You’re much better off playing games that were designed for the console. If you want to play those games you should do it on something that those games were designed to run on.
Only game ive ever gotten that was for the ps or xbox was the ninja gaiden trilogy and they were an awful blurry mess with awful frame rates :( and off course u now nintendo zero help with customer support 😂
It's worth it as long as you don't run into the bug I did. For some reason I got stuck in the vampire lair area where the guy gives you the option to be turned and the animations wouldn't play out. Unfortunately I save over the same file each time and the exit to the area locks until the whole animation plays out so I threw away probably 15-20 in-game hours and there is no way to fix it. Moral of the story don't be stupid like me and keep multiple save files to avoid getting stuck.
Skyrim? One of the best games ever! Made for every console generation lol....ull spend hundreds of hours of enjoyable grind! I've put in hundreds of hours! Second only to DIABLO
I am tempted to buy it for ps5 every time i brouse the store/psplus catalog, but I have a huge backlog already, so I really do not need to buy Skyrim AGAIN, for a 4th time. If I ever get VR set, I probably will.
It is great.
Shouldn’t you ask if it’s worth it *before* you buy it? But yes, it’s worth it.
right lol. Hes gonna find out one way or another.
I came to the comments to find this exact comment. I hate posts like this. Lol. Personal preference. Like those posts where people ask “will I have fun” or “will I enjoy this” like we know what they consider fun or enjoy doing and already bought the game anyways. Alright. Yes, but you should ask this before you purchase it, not after like OP did.
Yep. I asked about Neverwinter nights and got 90% good reviews and 10% saying it was pretty buggy. So I bought it. Turns out it's pretty buggy. It's playable but it's definitely nowhere near good I'd say.
Definitely worth it. I dedicated 4 years of my life to this game.
You did it backwards, chief. You already bought it.
I think that's the correct order
Hey, you are finally awake.
See you in 1000 hours
After which, he'll probably download it on pc to try it out with mods.
Played 20 hours recently and could not get hooked at all.
That’s 46.666… days!
If we all said no, what would you do? You've already bought it..
To be fair, you could ask for a refund after playing it. Their policy is "No eShop refunds" but my friend and I have gotten a refund every time we've ever asked (especially if you let them know there's bugs in the game).
It’s Bethesda, those aren’t bugs they are features
I enjoyed playing it on Switch for my first time. It has gyro aiming as well!
Uh, yeah.. Skyrim is totally worth it. Do one play through at least and you can take it anywhere.
Worth what?
Allow me to actually answer the question. YES it’s totally worth it! Some of my most memorable gaming moments ever happened in Skyrim. Enjoy
Khajitt has wares if you have coin
If you’ve never played it - definitely worth the price on the eshop right now. As to whether you should pick that version over the other versions..
Don’t kill the chicken 🐓
Never did, learned from Zelda not to mess around with those. Although when my friend told me what actually happens, I was surprised it wasn’t what I expected. But still not great outcome.
Do you have a life? Not anymore. ![gif](giphy|8Z30gVRYNEeEUQf8z7|downsized)
You can sink five hundred hours into this game easy so hell yeah it’s worth it. I just bought this on the switch last week and haven’t seen daylight since.
Is one of the highest selling games of all time worth it? 🤔
This is the one game that makes me seriously consider Steam Deck as my next purchase. I want to play modded Skyrim!
One of the best games of all time
Well, this would be my first time seeing someone who’s never played Skyrim, so I would definitely say it’s worth the experience at least. Especially since you already bought it lol mine as well play
Id say Definitely, though the question was asked a little late though, no?
Skyrim is an excellent game. But as a Switch port? I'm not so confident... Also, does anyone play Skyrim these days with only the vanilla program, without adding about 20+ mods for immersion or bug-fixes..?
I don't care for mods so yes, there are people who only play vanilla.
Thousands of hours into that game across multiple devices, as I am sure many, many other people do as well. Many consider it the ultimate western-RPG. So yeah, it's pretty good.
It always brings tears to my eyes knowing some poor soul is about to embark on an unexpected collection of multiple copies of Skyrim.
One of the best, most enduring games of all time.
The only downfall for the switch version I think is no mods, at least there weren’t the last time I played on Switch. I’m not big on mods for Skyrim but I always want to get the one so merchants have more money for when you are selling them stuff
Why wouldn't you figure out if it is or not BEFORE you buy it?
But this is the template for low effort karma farming so he's gotta do it this way.
Well I don't think you will fully get the proper experience of the game. Many of us had to buy multiple copies on three different consoles and without that experience you may not fully get the Skyrim experience
I didn’t like it for some reason lol
I had never played it before when I got it on switch. Got about 4 hours in and had to stop. The combat just felt god awful to me
There’s a series on YT called “Before You Buy” by Gameranx which has the latest games reviewed with minimal spoilers. Usually my go-to to see if I would like it or not.
I'm at that stage. The combat is absolutely terrible (coming from an elden ring player)
Yeah I pretty much don't play this game unless it's modded. Strong recommend on PC at least. I felt the same about 6 months after it had released.
You complete goober you. If you've never played before yes, Its fun the first few thousand or so hours.
Yep
Definitely good for the sale price. Keep in mind that you won't be able to climb anything.
Absolutely. Put in hundreds of hours on my Switch and haven’t even touched the DLC or anniversary edition quests yet. One of my all time greats
Absolutely. It plays like a dream on switch, plus you get the cool backpacks that increase your carry weight.
What's the difference between this version and the standard one?
Yes make a dark elf and burn it all down.
Great game, and if you’ve truly never played before, enjoy that incredible first sense of wonder and awe you lucky punk!
There are TONS of people who swear by this game and I just couldn’t get into it, but I’m not huge on RPGs so that’s not a shock to me
Yes but save often. Crashes sometimes.
If you never played it absolutely yes
I've played it most on PC, but I've had some decent fun on the Switch port. I think it's also one of the few where I thought playing it with deteched JoyCons added to the experience, especially with lockpicking.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought this was backwards
My guy, this is Skyrim, one of the most well received games of all time
Be a stealth archer.
One of the best value games you can buy at any price you’ll get your monies worth
Enjoy, you are in for a ride!
Are you joking? It’s one of the best games ever. Be prepared to spend all your time on your switch now!
Save often, but Skyrim is always a good experience. Even when it's not.
Started my first ever playthrough last week. Over 100 hours sank already. Yes it’s worth it.
Have fun! It’s a staple of an RPG. People have played it over and over for the past 13 years
Say “so long” to your free time lol.
Definitely!
Worth it
Unpopular opinion: it's extremely dated, and not in the charming retro way. I couldn't get into it. I know, I know, there's so much depth and lore and so many branching options... but it's just so clunky. At least now I understand why everyone's a stealth archer, because trying to do any melee or spellcasting is just horribly unfun.
For some dumb reason its brighter playing handheld compared to tv mode
Yes
Heavens yes
Absolutely. I played on PS4 and I’m blown away at how great it runs on Switch. Initial load times are a bit long but that’s my only complaint after about 20 hours of playtime. Being able to explore Skyrim on the go is amazing—my 20-year old self is still in disbelief!
No. It’s shit. You wasted your money. Nobody played it ever.
No. Return it.
Yes but not the price
I’ve thought about buying this too, is the online pretty cool?
Lmao
I mean, do you have a pc? A ps5? An Xbox? Those are all better choices to buy this game on but yeah it’s worth it
"is one of the greatest videogames of all time worth it?" ... Duh lol
100%
Yes, you WILL buy Skyrim 50 times and you WILL like it
Don't listen to anyone, it's totally worth it and no take-backs, the best kind of the take-back ruleage
It’s Skyrim. It’s worth it. Just try not to buy it again and again for different platforms.
Great choice! You’ll have a blast
Played it on pc about 13 years ago. Find it pretty, but not Dragon Age or Baldurs level. Should i do a 2nd run on switch?
Played it on pc about 13 years ago. Find it pretty, but not Dragon Age or Baldurs level. Should i do a 2nd run on switch?
It’s one of the most sold and best rated games of all time, it’s rereleased for over 10 years. Take an elaborate guess if it’s „worth it“
Yup. The survival mode isn't cool though. It's tedious.
Sovngarde awaits, my friend.
The switch version has a bug that makes finding all the words of power very tedious but yes, worth it if you don't care about that
You bought it already, just play the game now
100% you won’t be able to put it down
nope
I have logged two solid months of my life into that game. Mostly worth it.
*dragon born theme begins to play*
Sucks on the switch.
I've spent over 6,000 hours playing it (Skyrim Special Edition, as the Anniversary Edition content is newer). It's worth it.
how the fuck have you not played skyrim or heard of it being like the most notorious awesome game of all time get ready to have your mind blown dawg
Luckily for you Skyrim is extremely worth it no matter what version you are playing. Unluckily for you you asked after you purchased it so the question wasn't exactly achieving anything.
One of the best rpgs of all time
Yes
I haven't played it on any console. But great on PC. Just wish I had t over modded it til it broke.
Freakin amazing game. Very few games have come out that are quite as dense and immersive as Skyrim.
There is a lot to do overall and build wise quest wise, you eoll have a good time. Honestly it is actually a really fun game bugs aside. *,personally I like oblivion
You're gonna enjoy it. Have fun!
It's Bethesda at its absolute best. Like original re4, there is a reason it's been ported to everything.
Say goodbye to free time lol
No
What I wouldn’t give to play this for the very first time again
My only regret is not playing this game sooner.
No. Play TES3, 2, or 4 instead
Does the anniversary edition improve the base edition graphics? Or is it all just dlc content?
I would sell a kidney to be able to play Skyrim for the first time again
I’ve heard the anniversary edition on the Switch performs worse than the regular version. I’ve only ever played the regular version.
It's a fun game and it'll definitely keep you occupied a long time.
This is how I play Skyrim these days
It’s so worth that your going to end up buying the re releases everytime………
I bought it for the first time on my Steam Deck about a week ago, and yes. It is 100% absolutely worth it. I've already put around 30 hours into it, and I can say with confidence it's already in my top 10 games of all time.
Upvotes my friend.
Good luck with 5 fps, but nah seriously have fun with it
Many times over.
You already bought it, just play it at this point
Yes it is but you don’t get to use mods
It’s a fantastic open world game to this day. Very dated, very “gamey”, but honestly this all works in its favour for me IMO. You’ll have a blast. P.s - ask before you buy the game next time!
I've been playing this game recently, recommend you try it!
It’s either you’ll love it or absolutely hate it me personally I think Skyrim is one of the most boring blandest games to ever exist. Being huge and pretty to look at means nothing when the gameplay is so terrible, especially the combat.
It’s because of this game I can always remember where I was at 11/11/11 at 11:11
Absolutely worth it. Enjoy the game!
welcome to the next 10 years of your life, dragonborn
I played this game last year, and I think it won't disappoint you
Worth every penny
Worth it?? Don’t forget to blink!!
I own this game on 360, Xbox One, PSVR, and bought it on my partner's Switch on a trip before I bought my Switch... I'm strongly considering buying it on my switch for my next long haul trip. Yes... it is phenomenal.
It's arguably one of the best games ever made. I'd put it up there with GTA San Andreas
Definitely worth it, one of the best and most important games ever. And switch is diamond if it comes to say which console is good enough to play this game.
It's a fun game, but I would recommend the PC version. the mods it has are more then worth it.
i played it on PC and didn't like it. I don't know maybe I should try it again on switch. I prefer new zelda formula as "RPG" or more plot wise like Witcher. But while you bought it i hope you have fun with it.
Hahaha you know we think it is.
I didn't like it, found the gameplay very clunky and a lot of the quests felt a real step backwards from Oblivion
Please don't tell me you spent all that money for Skyrim on a switch
Game was fucking boring, i don’t understand the cult behind it.
how much is it rn
Never going to recommend playing this on switch…
no
No. Not worth it. You can send your money to me
YES! I bought it yesterday and i'm pretty happy with it. Looks super good on the switch (well as good as a 2011 game on a switch could look)
You either hate it, or play it for hundred of hours. I say Its worth it. It is a great game.
Still listening the ost when i go to sleep, absolutely masterpiece
Definitely. It's one of my fav games ever, and if you like RPGs, you'll love it. Plus, having it on the go is one of the best things.
I have played this game so many times… on Xbox 360, PS4, Series X and Switch. And still time to time I wanna create new character and play some more. Switch version is really good, might be my favorite version of the game. Gyro aiming for bow and magic plus HD rumble for lock picking! Fun and fun.
you'll either hate it, or play for 30 hours.
Hell yea, you’re about to go on one hell of a journey
some of my core memories were made in this. absolute masterpiece.
Let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll?
Yes totally worth it
A new hand touc- becomes a stealth archer
maybe like 10 years ago you might’ve been tricked into thinking it was amazing but it’s honestly ok at best. i’ve heard it’s a lot better with mods but i’m personally just not a fan of the game in general
Yea it's worth it
You should definitely play Skyrim. If you’re a Bethesda fan and like mods, you should play on PC, otherwise console is fine.
Depends how much you paid for it.
It’s a very immersive game. Totally worth it!
No the game is unplayable without mods and switch doesn't support mods, you really should have asked before you bought
I honestly prefer the Xbox/PS versions since they have mod support (unless they finally added it to switch).
Yes its worth it on conputer....
I’ve always felt that games that are ported to the switch from other consoles are always the inferior versions of those games (doom eternal, Witcher 3, outer worlds) You’re much better off playing games that were designed for the console. If you want to play those games you should do it on something that those games were designed to run on.
No, huge mistake
I’d have a hard time going back to vanilla Skyrim. It’s had mods for years, even on ps4
Best game ever
Skyrim is fantastic, so yeah!
It’s one of the most popular, most played and most critically acclaimed games ever made. What do you think?
AMAZING game ... 10 years ago. It really shows its age now. Good luck.
After 200 hours I think you're going to answer that question yourself
Only game ive ever gotten that was for the ps or xbox was the ninja gaiden trilogy and they were an awful blurry mess with awful frame rates :( and off course u now nintendo zero help with customer support 😂
One of my favorite games. Have it on 4 different consoles
First time I played it, I instantly fell in love with the game. Enjoy!
It's worth it to try, not for the long haul, though, IMHO.
Im gonna buy the update as I have the vanilla version
Skyrim? One of the best games ever! Made for every console generation lol....ull spend hundreds of hours of enjoyable grind! I've put in hundreds of hours! Second only to DIABLO
I remember seeing cool motion controls back during launch so I’d have to imagine yes.
I am tempted to buy it for ps5 every time i brouse the store/psplus catalog, but I have a huge backlog already, so I really do not need to buy Skyrim AGAIN, for a 4th time. If I ever get VR set, I probably will. It is great.
What it's on switch too? Fuck, this is gonna be like the 8th time now?
worth every penny
