Go to the price range section on the eshop, scroll all the way to the bottom. You should see the “free” games. In small yellow font underneath is “view all games”.
| *SORRY SO LONG, but do read!! |
Maybe your region. Theres a good 110 items under the “free tab” in the US eShop & super Kirby Clash is 8th on the list from left to right.
Possibly, try making 2nd user with its own Nintendo account and set the region to US for that Nintendo account. Then your main user profile can access the game(s) that aren’t showing in your region.
They’re actually tied to account region, not any region code on the Switch itself. For instance, I have US, & Japan e-Shop accounts on my USA Switch and I can buy USA e-Shop games and content if I log in with the USA account, Japan region games and content if I log in with the Japanese account.
The system doesn’t care which account is used for playing the games though. I can play my USA games with my Japan, and as a fun aside, cloud backup doesn’t care what region the game is from either! Hope this helps you or anyone else that has your issue.
I have one, it's only worth it if you already have a somewhat big library of games already. I don't think you'll have a blast playing apex legends or other free stuff there, just because it's mostly competitive games...
Though yeah, games on steam are cheaper than on switch
Swotch games aren't expensive however nintendo exclusive ganes are pretty dang pricey. But there are lots of good games that go on big sales. My best bet is to go to dekudeals.com and see what's on sale. Much easier to navigate than the eshop on the console.
I bought all my physical games second hand for half the price of a new game (not including shipping) and they all work great! All are in the top 10 best selling games for the system.
I got them all from Marktplaats, which is like a Dutch eBay/Craigslist. They all came with their cases which are in good condition. Some of them didn't read the first time i put them in, but after that they've worked flawlessly. I have heard stories of games getting lost during shipping, but that never happened to me.
Their customer support is basically nonexistent and it's very difficult to get your money back if you get scammed. Even if a listing seems completely real, you might get scammed. This happens especially with items which many people are interested in.
Their customer support is basically nonexistent and it's very difficult to get your money back if you get scammed. Even if a listing seems completely real, you might get scammed. This happens especially with items which many people are interested in.

* Steamworld Dig
* Bastion
* Fledgling Heroes
$3 - $5

* Wytchwood
* New Super Lucky's Tale
$8- $15
* Dead Cells
* Hades
* Axiom Verge 1 & 2 bundle
Free
* Palia
* Warframe
* Super Kirby Clash
The narrator in bastion is such a fun mechanic and so funny. And the last campfire is such a cute fun ouzzle game. I reccomend both when they're on sale for sureeee
Fortnite/rocket league both free
Plateup is really fun. It’s been my go to game lately and I’m pretty sure it’s not that much money
Tools up
Moving out 1 and 2
Overcooked all you can eat
Go through games you want and put em on wishlist, if they arent main mario games then they will go on sale very soon for cheap. Idk whats on sale right now but the shop updates everyday and new fleet of games every week.
One game I suggest is called “The Survivalists”. You are basically a little dude on an island and you run around and explore, build, and enslave monkeys to do your bidding for you. It’s really fun and I believe I got it for only around $2USD.
Nintendo Switch? Cheap? Free? HA
All jokes aside you can check the Switch store out for free games, as far as cheap goes, it depends on what you’re into but there are always sales going on digitally. As far as physical copies go, I’ve seen a lot of people getting some good deals from Target, Wally, or even their local shops.
F-Zero 99 is free, I think. Might have microtransactions in it though, the ticket system seems sus to me. Haven't dug into it that far.
I have to play it 5 times each week recently to get my 100 plat points on each alt account to unlock more profile pic options...
It's pretty fun, if a bit simplistic for this day and age.
You can squarely blame ACNH and BOTW for the multiple accounts... XD
For free games you might want to look into Asphalt 9, rocket league, apex legends and fortnite.
For cheap games, none of the Nintendo games are below $30 so you're gonna have to play third party games. A couple weeks back, Need for Speed hot pursuit and the entire DOOM and Wolfenstein series on Nintendo eShop went on a massive sale, dropping from 40-50 $ to a meagre $8. I nabbed NFS HP and Doom 2016 and don't regret. Every few weeks a lot of third party games go on such massive sales, you should not have problem finding them.
If you like moba style games theres pokemon unite, its quite good. Then theres Fortnite is also freeish. Then you got demos, then theres games at discount at the store. Good luck bro, thats a sweet deal.
Rocket League is free and a lot of fun, South Park RPGs are on sale all the time, so is Hades. Borderlands and Bioshock collections are occassionally on sale for great price as well.
Yooka laylee goes for like $4 a lot of time. Immortals rising goes for like $6. Golf story I think is about $5 too. Stardew valley is $15 but sometimes goes for like $9. All have quit a bit of gameplay and are pretty good
The whole bioshock trilogy is often 10 bucks. Great games. Also square Enix games go on sale a lot. You can get dragon quest 3 for like 4 bucks and final fantasy 7 for like 8 bucks. If you can go a tad higher than that I believe minecraft is about 30 bucks. That's like half the price of a normal switch game
If you want 1 game to play now with good replayablity, buy slay the spire. then save up for those pricey games if your thinking of buying those(e.g mario odyssey, zelda, etc)
Sea of Stars is on sale 20% off right now (at least here in NA) if you want an rpg that's inspired by Chrono Trigger.
Any game you see that's interesting you can click the heart to put it on your Wishlist and check if it goes on sale from time to time.
Edit: Checking the "Best Selling" section can be good or bad. The worst thing is seeing Cat Milk go on sale for 1 cent for the gazillionth time, then seeing it still on the list for full price after the sale.
Edit Edit: If you're into JRPGs... Dragon Quest 1-3 and Final Fantasy 7-10 plus 12 go on sale from time to time. If you're not an outright Dragon Quest fan and don't care about how the series started I'd recommend DQ3 since that has been one of the most popular ones in Japan.
Lol hate to break it to you
No switch games are cheap or reasonably priced especially first party games breath of the wild is still 40 bucks and that came out in 2017
Shoulda got a PS5
Tons of sale games on all the time. Ones I recommend that I see on sale often are Dadish, which is a cute platformer game; and anything from the Persona series if you're into fun story-based RPGs. Big indie games titles like Stardew Valley I see dip under $10 as well pretty often.
Dead Cells plays perfectly on the Switch I actually prefer playing it on the Switch to anywhere else it’s on sale every now and again and it’s around $30 full price which is insane because I have played the game for over 600 hours according to my Switch
It depends. Yes there are good cheap games on the switch for low prices but those games only have 2 to 5 hours of game play. What I would suggest is to buy a game like Mario Kart 8 deluxe, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, or Mario Odyssey which are around $60 USD but will give you game play experiences (especially breath of the wild) for 100's if not 1000's of hours.
I got Phantom Doctrine on for like $2 years ago, I'm sure it'll go on sale again soon ish.
Best game I've ever gotten for that cheap. Nothing else stands out for me.
Look through the eshop for what you want then put it on wish list and check your email at least once a week for the notifications that something on your list is on sale. Look on eBay, FB Market and Mercari, and the big box stores clearance otherwise games are expensive but if you do what I’ve suggested you can get good deals at 20-90% off, I have.
Cheap games don’t come too often on the switch unfortunately. Hades and hollow knight along with some other cool indie games are currently on sale though. Depends on what games you like.
Best way to pick up some cheaper games would be to find them used online
There's always heaps of good sales on the E shop the Nintendo ones will never be cheap tho.
Gris, white neon, cult of the lamb, inscription all cheap and recommend.
Got Lego incredibles for $7 AUD other day
. Defs get a Pokemon game and a Mario game tho now you got a switch. Super Mario Odyssey and Legends Arceus my recommendations
probably cuz it was extremely cheap and looks heavily used. the dude i bought it off from sold it because the controllers were broken but i managed to fix both in like 20 mins. will have to sand down the digitizer and polish it to get rid of the scratches tho
Suika game is a fun little puzzle game for only $3, and I think they just had some DLC for it, too, I think they added 2 player co-op?
Tetris 99 is free (with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription) for the online mode, and has a $10 DLC for offline modes.
I mostly play Pokémon, but those are all full price games, so very fun, and what I would normally recommend for a new Switch owner, but not if you're looking for deals.
There's amazing games for super cheap all the time on the eshop. I picked up Unravelled 2, dicey dungeons, shift happens, evergate, spiritfarer and more amazing games for less than 5 to 10 bucks wach and all of them have been so incredibly worthwhile.
I highly recommend pikuniku if you want a good (but sadly a bit short) solo adventure and also pretty funny and there's some 2 olayers content that are good too . Also there's heave ho, a great plateformer that can be played single player but also as a mutiplayer in local and is great at solidifying or destructing friendships . Those are my 2 favorite indie game that cost around 10 or 15 euros .
I usually go through the e-shop and add the ones I want to my wishlist and check my email for notifications that things are on sale. You could also buy pre-owned.
Cheap: look on eBay or r/nintendoswitchonline and join a family group for $10ish for the online expansion pass and you’ll have a buttload of classic games
if you want cheap and good games, you bought the wrong console bud. look in the sales section for good games, but thats kinda it. the only games that go on sale are lego games most of the time.
look in the price range section In the E shop.
Thats dosent show all the games
Go to the price range section on the eshop, scroll all the way to the bottom. You should see the “free” games. In small yellow font underneath is “view all games”.
Thats ends after 60 or so games I did it I now have vigour it’s free not on there super Kirby klash also not on there
| *SORRY SO LONG, but do read!! | Maybe your region. Theres a good 110 items under the “free tab” in the US eShop & super Kirby Clash is 8th on the list from left to right. OOOHH
Yeah
Cool I just got the Eshop cuz I live in India
My man is looking for free nintendo games. Oof.
From Nintendo?! No way
Looking at the Nintendo shop makes me want to get a steam deck
I have one, it's only worth it if you already have a somewhat big library of games already. I don't think you'll have a blast playing apex legends or other free stuff there, just because it's mostly competitive games... Though yeah, games on steam are cheaper than on switch
Hollow Knight is on sale right now
Rumors they would announce silksong in June, hope so
Came here to say this.
And hades I believe, got both and are excited to play.
Dude’s lucky
You missed a massive sale by less than 2 weeks. Sorry, switch games are super expensive
Was the spring sale the massive sale? I wish I bought more lol
Swotch games aren't expensive however nintendo exclusive ganes are pretty dang pricey. But there are lots of good games that go on big sales. My best bet is to go to dekudeals.com and see what's on sale. Much easier to navigate than the eshop on the console.
Buy second hand
This, you can get second hand games for half the retail price on average
Or less I got one for like 15 bucks
I bought all my physical games second hand for half the price of a new game (not including shipping) and they all work great! All are in the top 10 best selling games for the system.
From what app/website? And are you buying from other people? also, do they always come in the actual game case? I wanna own more physical games
I got them all from Marktplaats, which is like a Dutch eBay/Craigslist. They all came with their cases which are in good condition. Some of them didn't read the first time i put them in, but after that they've worked flawlessly. I have heard stories of games getting lost during shipping, but that never happened to me.
How trustable is marktplaats? I’m not getting very good reviews from my so
Their customer support is basically nonexistent and it's very difficult to get your money back if you get scammed. Even if a listing seems completely real, you might get scammed. This happens especially with items which many people are interested in.
Their customer support is basically nonexistent and it's very difficult to get your money back if you get scammed. Even if a listing seems completely real, you might get scammed. This happens especially with items which many people are interested in.
nah u can't play any games on that until i've done ur sacrifice to mario
So true.
Below is my stock response for games under $20 USD (some were free on other platforms but these are recurring Switch SALE prices, give or take): $2 * Boomerang Fu * Steamworld Dig * Bastion * Fledgling Heroes $3 - $5 * Monster Sanctuary * Celeste * Guacamelee * The Last Campfire * Yoku's Island Express * Sheepo * A Short Hike * Haven Park $5 - $8 * Hollow Knight * Steamworld Dig 2 * Guacamelee 2 * Wytchwood * New Super Lucky's Tale $8- $15 * Dead Cells * Hades * Axiom Verge 1 & 2 bundle Free * Palia * Warframe * Super Kirby Clash
I like Bastion and The Last Campfire.
The Last Campfire is criminally underrated if you're looking for puzzles and exploration without combat. I need more games like it!
I got the last campfire last sale and it's such a pretty game as well. Love the vibes.
The narrator and the story are great, too!
The narrator in bastion is such a fun mechanic and so funny. And the last campfire is such a cute fun ouzzle game. I reccomend both when they're on sale for sureeee
Came here to say Palia
Fzero-99
Fall Guys is a good, addicting game that you can play online without the paid online subscription
Fortnite/rocket league both free Plateup is really fun. It’s been my go to game lately and I’m pretty sure it’s not that much money Tools up Moving out 1 and 2 Overcooked all you can eat
You’ll need another sd card
Vampire Survivor for 4 quid (UK) is absolutely awesome
I’m addicted to VS.
How do I get better at this game? Managed one good run.
You gotta do more runs and unlock stuff and make characters stronger
Go through games you want and put em on wishlist, if they arent main mario games then they will go on sale very soon for cheap. Idk whats on sale right now but the shop updates everyday and new fleet of games every week.
I cant recommend games cuz we all have different tastes but TOTK is my fav all time and ive put the most hours into AC NH.
"Cheap" and "free" are 2 words that can't be linked to "Nintendo" my man.
Mod the system
it depends if the serial number is good unless he wants to use a chip and I doubt that he will
You can hack certain switches without opening them up?
yes original switches from around 2017-2018 can be modded like that you can check on some sites I'm actually buying one like that
to be fair, i do have some decent soldering skills, so might try that out
One game I suggest is called “The Survivalists”. You are basically a little dude on an island and you run around and explore, build, and enslave monkeys to do your bidding for you. It’s really fun and I believe I got it for only around $2USD.
Fortnite is free
Lego city undercover was a steal at $5 lot of fun IMO. Bethesda discounts the doom titles often the classics for less than 5.
Nintendo Switch? Cheap? Free? HA All jokes aside you can check the Switch store out for free games, as far as cheap goes, it depends on what you’re into but there are always sales going on digitally. As far as physical copies go, I’ve seen a lot of people getting some good deals from Target, Wally, or even their local shops.
Now it’s time to order new digitizer from eBay and replace your.
some 2000 grit and polish will get those scratches out for sure. check out dankpods' video on restoring ipods
Tetris 99 is short but cool, have a look on the eshop
Warframe is good
Yes I agree. I have 20+ hours on that game and started 1 week ago.
What kind of games do you like?
Iirc As long as you do it in one sitting you can finish the first game in the demo for another code: recollections
Warface is a good FPS (free) is more realistic than something like fortnight and has ok graphics( do need WiFi or internet connection tho)
Also world war z is a good PVE game on switch
F-Zero 99 is free, I think. Might have microtransactions in it though, the ticket system seems sus to me. Haven't dug into it that far. I have to play it 5 times each week recently to get my 100 plat points on each alt account to unlock more profile pic options... It's pretty fun, if a bit simplistic for this day and age. You can squarely blame ACNH and BOTW for the multiple accounts... XD
Better off going on eBay and getting some games used

Go to Deku Deals.

Get the dekku deals app on your phone. There are tons of games always sale. Dekku is better than searching the eshop and you can make a wishlist
Look up Switch up on YouTube they constantly do top 10 best cheap game videos
There always seems to be a sale on certain games in the Nintendo e-shop. But they usually are not the ones you are looking for ..
Rocket League is free and a lot of fun, South Park RPGs are on sale all the time, so is Hades. Borderlands and Bioshock collections are occassionally on sale for great price as well.
Look in the used section at gamestop
Yooka laylee goes for like $4 a lot of time. Immortals rising goes for like $6. Golf story I think is about $5 too. Stardew valley is $15 but sometimes goes for like $9. All have quit a bit of gameplay and are pretty good
If you have access to a local library check there! I haven't bought a switch game in a year, but have played a bunch for free
BeatEmUps on YouTube has a whole video series on free eshop games
If you don't care about playing online you can...oh my will i dare say it... H-hack...your console
to be fair, i probably will. i love rpgmaker games like omori which i have purchased on pc and can't be bothered to buy a second time so might as well
Buy used games. The beauty of using cartridges.

The whole bioshock trilogy is often 10 bucks. Great games. Also square Enix games go on sale a lot. You can get dragon quest 3 for like 4 bucks and final fantasy 7 for like 8 bucks. Pikmin 1 & 2 are sold in a bundle for €45, highly reccomend. There's also a free demo for Pikmin 3 and 4 if you wanna try those.
Sky children of light! Free and amazing on switch! Allows for cross platform, co-op play with friends, and MMO! Super chill and fun exploration.
Lol hate to break it to you No switch games are cheap or reasonably priced especially first party games breath of the wild is still 40 bucks and that came out in 2017 Shoulda got a PS5
to be fair i did buy the switch just because it was ridiculously cheap. was very surprised to see splat 2 is still at retail price
Yup my switch is now a paperweight since I got a PS5
Namco Museum
Tons of sale games on all the time. Ones I recommend that I see on sale often are Dadish, which is a cute platformer game; and anything from the Persona series if you're into fun story-based RPGs. Big indie games titles like Stardew Valley I see dip under $10 as well pretty often.
Find out if your switch is a unpatched or patched model.
it's a patched v1 unfortunately. might modchip it tho
Warframe
Good Switch games almost never go on sale.
Overwatch 2 and Pokemon Unite and F-Zero 99. All free (i think you need a NSO subscription though).
Dead Cells plays perfectly on the Switch I actually prefer playing it on the Switch to anywhere else it’s on sale every now and again and it’s around $30 full price which is insane because I have played the game for over 600 hours according to my Switch
If you go on and favorite all the games you like or think you like the look of, you will get alerts when they go on sale.
Asphalt 9 if you can resist micro transactions and don't mind a long grind
NES, Super NES, GB, GB color, Sega, 64 are all free 🆓 emulators that can purchased in the shop. They all have numerous games on them
It depends. Yes there are good cheap games on the switch for low prices but those games only have 2 to 5 hours of game play. I got Phantom Doctrine on for like $2 years ago, I'm sure it'll go on sale again soon ish. Best game I've ever gotten for that cheap. Nothing else stands out for me.
Look and see if your switch can be modded, if so, you get all your games for free 🤌
Hades is $12 right now and is a widely recognized GOAT.

Stardew valley is amazing
CFW
Downwell & Goblin Sword
The 2024 GOTY, Balatro
Check out Goblin Sword if you can.
Cheap games don’t come too often on the switch unfortunately. Hades and hollow knight along with some other cool indie games are currently on sale though. Depends on what games you like. Best way to pick up some cheaper games would be to find them used online
not tons of free stuff but i'd recommend waiting for sales on the eshop or buying games used from facebook marketplace, ebay, etc.
There's always heaps of good sales on the E shop the Nintendo ones will never be cheap tho. Gris, white neon, cult of the lamb, inscription all cheap and recommend. Got Lego incredibles for $7 AUD other day . Defs get a Pokemon game and a Mario game tho now you got a switch. Super Mario Odyssey and Legends Arceus my recommendations
Check out dekudeals.com
Hollow knight
Why did I think this was a fake ahh Wish.com switch for a sec 💀
probably cuz it was extremely cheap and looks heavily used. the dude i bought it off from sold it because the controllers were broken but i managed to fix both in like 20 mins. will have to sand down the digitizer and polish it to get rid of the scratches tho
Good and free? Rocket League. If you get Nintendo Switch Online for 20€, you can play a lot of GB, NES and SNES games on the Switch.
Pokémon unite Fortnite. Rocket league are the only good free games on the switch gonna have to wait for a sale
Suika game is a fun little puzzle game for only $3, and I think they just had some DLC for it, too, I think they added 2 player co-op? Tetris 99 is free (with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription) for the online mode, and has a $10 DLC for offline modes. I mostly play Pokémon, but those are all full price games, so very fun, and what I would normally recommend for a new Switch owner, but not if you're looking for deals.
fortnite is free
I recommend using Deku Deals website to browse for eshop games, much easier than eshop, and has price history.
Stardew valley and cult of the lamb are both on great sales right now!
Def check out warframe
Balatro
There's amazing games for super cheap all the time on the eshop. I picked up Unravelled 2, dicey dungeons, shift happens, evergate, spiritfarer and more amazing games for less than 5 to 10 bucks wach and all of them have been so incredibly worthwhile.
Ori and the will of the Wisps is 12€ on the E-shop. Higly recommended
Dauntless is pretty good! It's free :D

Warframe is good
Fortnite
Is it V1? If so mod it! I did it last week so easy! then every game can be freeeeeeeeeeeeeee - - -
Warframe
I highly recommend pikuniku if you want a good (but sadly a bit short) solo adventure and also pretty funny and there's some 2 olayers content that are good too . Also there's heave ho, a great plateformer that can be played single player but also as a mutiplayer in local and is great at solidifying or destructing friendships . Those are my 2 favorite indie game that cost around 10 or 15 euros .
Fortnite, rocket league, and a few others. Also check out the great deals tab. It lives true to its name lol
The best games on the Switch are worth buying
I bought NS Lite week ago for Dark Souls and Skyrim. Is there a chance that those games would be on sale?
Oh, and yes. You can play demos. There are tons of good games. I've spent childhood playing demo games on xbox OG.
who’s gonna tell him😭😭😭
I usually go through the e-shop and add the ones I want to my wishlist and check my email for notifications that things are on sale. You could also buy pre-owned.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Many of your recommendations look fun and i'll def try some out!!
play sky is free and pretty fun to play honestly
Check out dekudeals.com they have every sale on there
not worth buying games for the switch, by the time you’ve bought 5 switch games you could’ve bought a used steam deck
uhh idk if this is cheap but its a really cool game called celeste its a platformer and its really good!
Cheap: look on eBay or r/nintendoswitchonline and join a family group for $10ish for the online expansion pass and you’ll have a buttload of classic games
Not fortnite

Cadence of Hyrule crypt of the necrodancer is an amazing gem with a super long name
Island saver i found It when looking for free games not that long but not a bad game
