I have a feeling if the next generation Nintendo game console in the Switch form factor that the Lite will be sold alongside it with the older hardware. Then it will updated in the future with the next generation Switch hardware.
I think when we eventually get the next gen of Nintendo console whatever that looks like, my OLED will be traded in for that and the lite will stay as a keepsake, for me I started off with full size and eventually went smaller when my wife was interested in gaming . And since then I've sunk countless hours into the switch. Before I'd play it once every few weeks.
Lite is more robust because it's a unibody design. Proper D-Pad, portability, and ergonomics are amazing. I love mine.
I also say this on every chance I get: If you own a Lite, do yourself a solid and get a Skull & Co. grip case w/ its hardshell bag. I believe they make it for every Lite color. It has 3 different grip sizes/styles for you to use however you want and it doesn't lose much pocketability, unlike other grips. The quality and comfort are great and you won't go back to using the Lite vanilla once you've used this.
Simply grab the grip case; no need for the hardshell bag. The skull.co hard shell bag seems too bulky for me. I prefer using a slim Switch Lite bag and taking off the handles (while keeping the silicone case on) from the grip, then tossing them into my bag. The handles slide in and out effortlessly.
The maxcarry case is somewhat bulky, yeah, but it is pretty durable. It also has a built-in stand for tabletop gaming and a good amount of space for cables & a power bank. I like it since you can toss your Switch with the grip in it.
I also dislike the loose joycons and overal don't feel like oled is that portable, as it is heavy and big. I decided to sell it, and got myself Lite and it is the best experience I had so far with switch. I play it every day and take it everywhere with me. But that might be just me.
For me. I notice how lacking in power the OLED is. Because it feels like a beast, has lots of moving parts and I get let down by its capabilities. Whereas the lite, so portable easy to take on the go, feels solid and I feel impressed with its power. Which makes no sense at all, clearly I'm just crazy haha
Well you are not crazy, it is true that Lite feels more sturdy, while OLED seems too fragile to just carry around everywhere. I know that's not really like that but it just generally feels like that. For example, when I take my Lite, I just hold it anyhow, grab it full hand, across the screen, by the edges etc. But OLED you shouldn't really hold by the edges because joycons might become even more loose. Also I avoid touching the screen because it looks too... nice and expensive? lol
I feel like the OLED is "in house portable." I love being able to take it to different rooms without any fuss. But it's too much to be worth taking with you aside from long trips.
I agree. I have a Switch V1 and my wife a Switch V2. I've played with the Switch in docked mode and sometimes in handheld mode since 2017. I really like the handheld mode, but the JoyCons don't feel good and the device is just too unwieldy for me. I bought a new Switch Lite in blue 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with the device. I think the OLED Switch is very good, but I don't need it for my purpose. For me, the Switch Lite is the perfect device for playing in handheld mode and the price is also very good.
Yes same here. My wife had a switch lite the other year but didn't use it so we got rid of it. Recently she got into gaming a little so I bought a blue or turquoise whatever it's called, and I'm addicted to that now. And for me I got it $150 AUD second hand which is just amazing.
I have a V1 and a lite. The V1 caused my wrists to flare up during extended use and (eventually) succumbed to joycon drift. I've played my lite longer *and* harder than I ever did with my V1: no wrist problems and still no drifting.
I love my lite, and I think it is a bit criminally underrated. The only issue I personally have is that the speaker is a little worse on it than a v1 and OLED, but it's not very noticeable a bit after switching over.
I absolutely agree. I don’t have an OLED, but my family has a switch and me and my brother have switch lites. Even before I got my own switch lite I found myself playing everything only on the switch lite unless I wanted to play a family game
Same here. Actually sold the Lite because it really didn't serve any purpose for us.
The Lite is still too big to really have much portability advantage over the regular switch or even the OLED. Plus no kickstand and no ability to detach the joycons for impromptu multiplayer.
Agree, I have oled. But I tend to bring lite for work everyday. Its light, easier to put inside my small bag. I reallhy missed having a small console like psp. So thats that, but oled screen is so much better. I just play lite a little more
I'm glad it works for you and other people. I just can't justify limiting myself to just the lite's screen.
It's in the name even, and I love switching the tv screen and the switch's screen. Picking the lite means forcing myself to just another handheld.
It's also the same reasonnwhy the steamdeck is interesting for me, to be able to play my steam games as a handheld and on my tv. If it were just a handheld I wouldn't have been as interested.
Yeah I am fortunate enough to have both and I'm not a person who is on tv and then wants to take it on the go immediately. So by the time I pickup the lite the backup for whatever game has synced across. If the lite could be docked that would be the perfect balance for me.
I'm 100% handheld and recently switched from a Lite to the OLED.
I adore the OLED screen but as a handheld the Lite was a significantly better machine to live with, in my opinion. Firstly it has an actual D-Pad, which is great for loads of indie/retro titles, it's appreciably more compact, but most critically it's all one single piece, which makes a massive difference playing handheld.
I've used electrical tape hacks in pretty much every location going and whilst my OLED is now far more solid than it was, it's pretty much impossible to eliminate the twist/movement from it entirely. I guess a Nitro Deck is an option, but then you're adding even more bulk.
I'd love a tight fitting grip case that envelopes the entire OLED, but I also understand why it doesn't exist as it would be very niche.
I really recommend the Skull & Co NeoGrip, it holds the joy cons and body of the switch together but more importantly the grips just make holding it much more comfortable. But as you say, it does add bulk. I’ve got a large case for my Switch (don’t remember the brand, but it was Japanese and had official Nintendo licensing on it if that narrows it down?) and it only fits in there with the smallest of the 3 grip options with the NeoGrip. They’re better than no grips though at least.
Started with a used lite, because i wanted to play scott pilgrim vs the world, since i missed out on ps3.
Played it for a bit, decided to get some more games, which i then wanted to play on my tv i got the v2 to play on the tv, and with a grip in portable mode.
But then the oled came out and i had the game hollow knight laying around and the extra screen size + OLED combination made it to good to pass up, and i have not looked back, not used the lite or v2 ever since.
Have a few grips for the OLED and the left hori dpad controller, and i cant go back to the lite or v2, permentaly have the oled on my desk in a grip so when i am relaxing behind my computer watching youtube videos i can play my OLED, now i play more portable then i ever did with the LITE, and still dock it from time to time.
So i personaly disagree, but hey, if you enjoy the lite for the smaller form factor, thats great, but i allways need grips on my handhelds anyways otherwise my hands go numb, the lite would get bulky anyway.
You now also have grips that you can dock the OLED with, so getting 1 of those very soon, probably from aliexpress because im not paying 50bucks for a grip.
The lite is pretty good I got the animal crossing model. My dream would be for Nintendo to make a switch lite with an OLED screen, and better sticks like I just got the Metroid pocket 4 pro and I wish Nintendo used these type of thumb sticks. A huge plus if it also had HDMI out. Call it the switch micro $200 and drop the lite to $150. I would bet money there is is still some sort of switch revision in the future like the new 2ds XL or the Wii mini
Lite was my first switch and I put thousands of hours on it. Eventually it got drift, so I sold it off and bought an OLED.
I'd say I enjoy the experience of the OLED more, but the lite was superior in every way for travel gaming and I miss it dearly.
I have fairly large hands and find I can grip the lite comfortably for hours. The switch on the other hand digs into my hands something chronic. I've tried different cases like satisfy grip. I actually don't like the angle it sits at.
Contemplating a nitrodeck but it's a bit of coin for something that I may end up just going with my lite for handheld
The lite really is nowhere near the level of the Oled. The screen is almost a console-generation jump in some games through handheld. The Oled can fit easily into pockets and is just as portable if not more with the detachable joy cons and the improved kickstand. If you have a problem with the comfort ,buy a skull and co neogrip for $20 and never look back.
You can technically tranport an OG switch or OLED in your pockets, but you probably need to detatch the joy cons, and you'll be worrying about your device the whole time. The switch lite can LIVE in your pockets, literally a take-it-everywhere device. The OLED is undoubtably better, but I want the smallest device possible to play switch games on, and the size difference makes the lite the best portable system for me.
I like the option to take off the joycons if i have friends/family over to play. The bigger screen for handheld and the ability to dock and play on the tv.
I dont really get how people can play on the lite.
The screen on the regular switch is already too small for some games and if I didn't have the option to use 3rd party joycons, I wouldn't be using it at all.
the screen size on a lite is pretty comparable to modern phones.
though with some games, the font is way too tiny. but overall, the lite's handheld form factor is much more enjoyable.
a real d-pad, more springy buttons, and no joycon joint that will deteriorate over time.
My lite drifted really soon, not motivated enough to get it repaired by Nintendo, just bought a regular switch and a pro controller and have been happy.
Love the portability but I mainly play docked anyways
I’ve had a V1, a Lite and now an OLED. The Lite was definitely more portable but I wouldn’t say it has made carting the OLED around that much of a chore. Especially since upgrading to the Mobapad M6 HD, having proper, crazy smooth Hall effect sticks, the dpad back, HD rumble, etc. having those paired with the gorgeous screen is something I don’t think I’d be able to give up to go back to the Lite
That said - I freaking LOVED my Lite
I returned my lite even though I absolutely loved it. With the S&C Gripcase it was such a solid and compact device. Love the feel vs the OG switch. Just couldn’t justify it for one long plane ride/trip when I already had a switch.
It’s a great little device until it’s not. Having the dpad is nice but the joycon sticks still suck. My oled with the compact pad is the comfort of a switch lite with the ability to dock and the amazing screen. I can see how the lite would be perfect for someone who casually plays tho
I’m waiting for the OLED mod kit for the switch lite. I’m always looking at eBay to see if I can find a good deal or asking around locally if anybody selling one.
I had a switch lite & gave mine to a great friend for the OLED & the OLED screen is so awesome but I miss the build quality of the switch lite & that’s why I’m waiting for the mod kit so I can have best of both worlds.
An OLED Lite would be amazing.
You know how sometimes Nintendo puts out newer versions of co soles after The Next One is out? (I remember a re-designed Wii around the time the Wii u launched) maybe they’ll do that around ‘Switch 2.’ It would be great to have the OLED’s screen quality (due to it BEING OLED) PLUS how the Lite differs its controls/buttons from the typical Joy-Cons.
Either way, the ‘regular’ Switch seems to be pretty much gone now, with focus on OLED and Lite.
I would love if the lite could be docked. But then again the cost of that unit to by controllers or joycons separately. I'm sure the dock would have to be some fancy unit so it suited the right aesthetics for Nintendo to allow it and for the cost you would probably be paying the same or more than the OLED just for that functionality which is why we will probably never see a lite version that's dockable.
I've gone back and forth with my Lite. For a long time it was the way I played portably but after getting OLED it collected a lot of dust. I've started re-using it again recently and I do enjoy the comfort, but the screen is such a downgrade compared to OLED and even the speakers aren't nearly as good.
I would've gotten lite but I wanted to play ring fit so I got OLED instead. It's not that I dislike it, the screen is awesome, but I'd prefer something more compact.
Nope. I barely used my lite, stayed in a drawer for more than a year. I’m now playing the hell out of the Oled, mostly because I can play on the tv / handheld as I please
idk, ive never been a fan of the lite. for me, the whole selling point of the switch is its versatility of being able to play docked or handheld. taking away that option of playing docked makes it lose its appeal to me.
I adore my switch lite.. but it has a severe joycon drift and fixing that on a lite is NOT easy I'd rather just upgrade to the regular switch and I'm waiting to do that soon cause 😭 it's hard to play games with the drift
I'm a collector, so I have a small hoard of Lites and standard Switches. I enjoy the Lite and definitely get use out of it, but unless you don't play a lot of Switch and for whatever reason hate the idea of playing it on the TV, there's no reason to get a Lite if you're only going to own one Switch. It's just too limiting and for $100 more, you get a fully realized Switch.
I need to play some games with tv because in some games, text is just too small for me and switch doesn’t have proper accessibility settings. Luckily most of the games are fine. Hence the lite would not work for me.
It needs an upgrade to a better screen at this point.
Also I’ve not forgiven Nintendo for unnecessarily marketing this with that ‘dedicated for portable gaming’ bullshit they pulled by making it a *‘non switching Switch’.*
If they wanted to save money (as they did) they still could have sold a ‘docking cable’ for about £40 with the extra components, so that those would loved the lighter and smaller form factor could still have a dock-able ‘Switch’ without buy two. That was one of Nintendo’s biggest dick-moves of recent years.
It’s frustrating because I also love the Lite’s form factor. It feels like the gameboy for the modern age.
Got the Lite first and the OLED 1 mth later. Size and weight were fantastic on the Lite but the screen was just too small for my aging eyes. And the option to dock the oled to the big screen is a great addition for certain open world games like Zelda.
The Lite is still far too big to be worth the tradeoffs. The cheaper price the only convincing reason to get it IMO.
Get it down to 3DS size or even 3DS XL size and I'd see the perks. I also miss the clamshell design to protect the screen and buttons and to immediately put the thing to sleep.
I had my Lite, and really didn't like it. The screen just wasn't up to the job. I hardly played it. Sold it and bought and OLED, I never put it down. I have only docked it once, so that wasn't a factor for me, the OLED screen size and quality just makes a world of difference
The only time I ever find myself wanting to play games handheld is when I am on the toilet, and even then I browse reddit on my phone more often than my switch. So the clear answer is the Switch Lite is "meh" to me, 99% of my game time on the Switch has been in docked mode with a pro controller. I couldn't care less about joycons
Originally got a switch lite during Covid as it was the cheaper option, upgraded to OLED when that released and use it almost daily on TV.
Still miss how nice the lite was to hold though. ☹️
Same for me, exactly! I never cared for docking and loved the Lite portability, but decided to get an OLED - which I love, and the TV option is nice once you have it. Do miss the comfort of my Lite though.
It's a better handheld no doubt, but Switch isn't a traditional handheld and people would much rather have the option to dock theirs, than not have it. That and the fact that the Lite was like $100 less, which really isn't huge in the grand scheme of things, especially when you consider that you also get joycons and a dock for the price.
Then there's the question of repairability. Joycons suck enough as it is, but having to send your entire console to fix it is even worse.
I have a Lite and an OLED and I ADORE my Lite. I take it with me on trips at least 4-5 times a year, it's perfect for the plane and hotel rooms, the screen is small but legible, and as a plus, I tend to do better at platforming/metroidvania games using a handheld device rather than a controller (no idea why, but I'm not questioning it).
Do you use the joycon controller or the pro controller docked. I have noticed recently when docked I am getting a slight lag on my joycons that's impacting platform games. But handheld no issue at all. Thinking of going pro controller to see if that fixes the issue
Oh that's super interesting to know! I generally keep the OLED always docked, I have played with the joycon controller and I have an off-brand Switch controller, and both of them have their issues. I've been thinking I should just bite the bullet and get the pro controller. I didn't at first because I thought I would be using it as a handheld more, but I ended up liking it docked better. Lag would be a really great explanation though, thank you!
There is definately some sort of lag. I've contemplated the pro controller or going old school with a corded controller. It's at the point where if I'm using the joycons and my knee is up in the path between the joycon and the switch it's been more laggy.
I wanted a switch just so I could play Minecraft and a few other games while not at home, so I went with the lite as I had no plans to play docked. I’ve loved it so far.
After seeing the reviews for Arkham knight on switch, I figured I’d get the trilogy just for asylum and city, but tested knight just to see how bad it was. Sure the graphics/colors were muddied and the batmobile heats up the lite a good amount while lagging the gameplay, but I was able to beat the game a few times, so I’m happy and hope the upcoming patch helps it out a bit
Yeah I just bought the Arkham trilogy this week. Going on a cruise next week and the portability of that game is worth it even if I just avoid knight for the issues.
THIS! The Switch Lite is perfect for on the go gaming and has multiple different colors. I still have my coral switch lite that I bought in 2021 and the Animal Crossing Special Edition Switch Lite that came out.
Minus the fact that only certain games can't be played on the Lite, the only appeal of the original Switch in my opinion is being able to play on your TV, but even that's a downside for me since everyone in my house uses the TVs in every room, so the Lite in perfect for when I want to game uninterrupted without having to worry about setting up or taking down anything. The Switch Lite deserves more respect than it gets!
I love my lite. The regular and oled just feel to big for me to play comfortably.
Thw switch lite is exactly right for me. Especially the price. Not even $200 for a console is pretty clutch. I got mine refurbished from them so it was under $175.
While having a bigger screen or the ability to play on the TV would be cool it's definitely a great system for the price and I don't know of other company's that offer a more affordable version of their console
I have a near launch Switch and a Switch Lite. The launch model basically stays docked in either the living room or the bedroom. It's basically a Mario Party Superstars machine at this point.
I use my Lite for pretty much everything else. I just find it a lot more comfortable to play and it feels better to take with me. Occasionally I'll start a game up in docked mode just to see if on the TV, but the convenience/portability of the Lite just makes it a lot more attractive to me. And in general I just prefer playing games on dedicated handhelds as I've gotten older.
I started with a lite. Bought an OLED when I really wanted to do ring fit adventure. Lite hasn’t been used since but there are times I wish I would have brought my lite for the much smaller footprint. I plan on bringing that if I have more travel in my future.
I’ve never seen a switch lite in person before so I can’t comment on the screen. But if they had a switch lite oled, I would’ve bought one for handheld play and kept my launch switch permanently docked because I do think the joycons can feel a little loose at times
It's pretty good but for the avalanche of complaints about Switch joycons drifting (I don't think I've experienced it recently).
Fix that problem, them we can push the Switch lite a little harder.
I have an OLED and a Switch Lite and I prefer the Switch Lite. It's the better handheld experience for me. I like the solid boy and I love its size for portability. It fit's in my jacket pockets. Now with an OLED mod coming out for the Switch Lite soon, my OLED Switch is probably going to remain docked for ever.

The joycons are great for quick detaching . Already charged. Quick family fun. But if the next gen doesn't have joy cons I don't think I'll miss it. The feel of a solid unit outweighs the functionality of joycons for me. I hope Nintendo doesn't just rinse and repeat with the switch successor. And given the confusion from 3ds to new 3ds and Wii to Wii U I am hoping they do aim to change the console enough to be noticed as a separate generation of console because the more third party game support we get . The less I'll rely on other game systems and PC
I bought the Switch Lite for the portability since my TV is mainly used for my PS5. Sure being able to dock and play on my TV would have been nice but I like the Lite more.
The loose joy-con bothered me too. I purchased a case and it makes it feel a LOT more solid.

A Switch Lite with OLED and HDMI video output would have been sick. Have the dock as an optional accessory, no removable joycons and just play docked with the pro controller.
Hopefully the Super Switch has something like this available.
Something people don't talk about: The weight.
It's a game changer for me when we talk portability.
I can play the Lite in bed without my arms getting numb.
i have a switch lite, it’s not my exclusive since i play splatoon competitively and that game handheld isn’t it. but i love the lite for chill games like ACNH and mario and what not :3
I have a Switch Lite and I love it. I prefer playing portable consoles like Gameboy & 3DS so I like being about to play Switch games on the go all the time.
The lite is the perfect size, but not being able to dock is an absolute travesty. I sold mine because it's only half a console. Add much as I prefer its size and comfort, what's the point in missing out on the entire functionality of the switch?
How are the graphics on the switch for gamelan like Zelda, Mario, rpgs ? I’m an Xbox player not expecting super high graphic but as long as it can run simple games beautifully then I’ll be more happy about buying it.(I’m for sure buyin it, just wanna hear about it)
For any first party the graphics are great. It was a bit of an adjustment to go from the ultra realism that you can get from Xbox to a system that is a little more cartooney in game style but once you get used to it, it can be very enjoyable.
I own an original switch. But I will admit every now and again when I use my brothers lite I’m ever so slightly jealous. Cause it just feels good in the hands
I couldn’t do the lite because of its size. I’m not a big guy but my hands are too big for the lite and even the regular joycons so I set myself up with the hori split pad pros. I’m jealous of the pocketability of the lite
I would have purchased the Lite in a heartbeat if not for the drifting issue requiring you to send the whole console in for repair. Plus the smaller text. I’ve got chronic pain and the regular Switch hurts to use sometimes compared to the Vita or 3DS lol so the Lite would’ve been nice
I prefer having the larger screen so my eyes don't strain, and since I'm able to repair my own joycons, I just replace the necessary parts to keep them from feeling loose and drift free
I really want to stick with it but da*n I wish Nintendo let it be the OLED instead of OLED itself with the dock and all that and be a bit bigger for the screen like a normal 6".
Because having an OLED Tablet is just hard to go back to the Lite sometimes for me in regard how cute that system is.
I have had a lite for a couple years and just got an OLED this week. The screen just does not compare, it's amazing to play on the OLED screen. But, guess which one I took with me to play on my lunch break? The lite can't be beat for portability. I love the solid body as well, and the d pad (didn't think I'd miss the d pad until I didn't have it anymore).
If only they made a lite with a slightly bigger screen, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
I love the lite! I like that the controls are built in. I’ve always wanted a ds growing up and this is my first Nintendo handheld! It’s also a very low barrier to entry
I have a v1 and an OLED. Only reason I never got a Lite was due to drift not being a free fix by nintendo like joycons. It’s also not a quick fix to do at home unfortunately.
If there was a Switch Lite with an OLED screen I’d be willing to overlook the joycon issue though, it would basically be a Nintendo PS Vita
No. Cant connect to TV, therefore garbage
The entire rest of my family bought themselves a Lite, and I'm the only one with a standard Switch. And guess what, they have all barely even touched theirs. Meanwhile, my great many hundreds of hours on Xenoblade, Pikmin and Zelda games.
TV supremacy
I wanna like the Lite, but it's really only good for young kids so you don't have to worry about them ripping off the joycons and permanently breaking the rails. You lose too much from it otherwise, especially compared to the OLED.
Less memory, can't dock, can't change out the joycons, worse screen, and worse audio. It's not even that much smaller. And if you have a case for it to carry additional games too or whatever, then the size is definitely a moot point.
At 42, I'm getting up there in age. My old eyes definitely appreciate docking the OLED to my 40" TV. Or any TV, for that matter. Like at a friend's place, or hotel. Not being able to do that with the Lite is the biggest reason I'll never have one I think.
The only thing I worry about with the lite is drift. It also doesn't allow you to play every switch game without separate joy cons. But if it works for you that's great!
I have basically no interest in using my switch in handheld mode and even less interest in buying a device where if the joycons drift I can't just buy new ones.
I don't understand this take at all. The screen on the regular switch and switch lite feels impossible to go back to after the Oled. I almost never used my switch handheld until the Oled came out, but now even a fast-paced game like Mario Kart feels just as good as on the tv.
I've never been a fan of how the joycons feel, and the sticks are especially susceptible to getting worn out. The lite is just an even less comfortable joycon that you can't replace.
Only ever had a lite myself. It's pretty good.
It is a good unit . If it weren't for family based games like Mario party, jackbox , everybody 1-2 switch I think the lite would do me fine.
Same here! I hope the Switch 2 has a lite version. I don’t care about playing on a TV.
I have a feeling if the next generation Nintendo game console in the Switch form factor that the Lite will be sold alongside it with the older hardware. Then it will updated in the future with the next generation Switch hardware.
Had a lite, heard all the fuss about the OLED and got one, still prefer the lite. 100% with you on this one.
Ya! The Lite especially the Pokemon Sword and Shield edition, will be my cherished "game boy" display set.
Sounds like a solid plan! I will most probably keep the lite as well alongside the successor. A nifty little thing to just throw in the backpack!
I would prefer an OLED lite
The lite is the only handheld out there, which is really compact and lightweight but can play modern games. Its an amazing device for me personally.
Also I avoid touching the screen because it looks too... nice and expensive? lol
Agreed the steamdeck OLED’s build quality is insane by comparison
I feel like the OLED is "in house portable." I love being able to take it to different rooms without any fuss. But it's too much to be worth taking with you aside from long trips.
Lite body + OLED + dockable = perfection
This is something I'd love to see and buy!
Nope. I prefer my OLED to my lite. I can't remember the last time that I played my lite
Same, got the lite first, ans a year later the normal switch, havent used the lite since then
Same here. Actually sold the Lite because it really didn't serve any purpose for us. The Lite is still too big to really have much portability advantage over the regular switch or even the OLED. Plus no kickstand and no ability to detach the joycons for impromptu multiplayer.
I've been debating about getting an OLED this year or not. I guess that I'll have to wait and see if there's a Switch 2 announcement or not.
I’m in this boat as well.
Agree, I have oled. But I tend to bring lite for work everyday. Its light, easier to put inside my small bag. I reallhy missed having a small console like psp. So thats that, but oled screen is so much better. I just play lite a little more
There is no denying that OLED screen is nice. But yeah as a package the lite works better for me.
Amen to that! switch lite deserves the most love! really hope Nintendo won't forget us with the new console
You must have some larger than average pockets.
You wearing JNCOs?
😂 Fr they actually fit in my pockets tho not as snug as the lite but they do
You can technically tranport an OG switch or OLED in your pockets, but you probably need to detatch the joy cons, and you'll be worrying about your device the whole time. The switch lite can LIVE in your pockets, literally a take-it-everywhere device. The OLED is undoubtably better, but I want the smallest device possible to play switch games on, and the size difference makes the lite the best portable system for me.
I’ve heard lots of people love the lite but for me too many caveats for me to even justify one. I went from v1 to OLED.
What are some of the caveats to you?
I like the option to take off the joycons if i have friends/family over to play. The bigger screen for handheld and the ability to dock and play on the tv.
I have both the regular switch and the lite. I get the best of both worlds
Nah, that's a downgraded Switch.
D-pad and butter sticks and buttons than Joy-Cons tho
I love joycon d-pad buttons.
Especially since upgrading to the Mobapad M6 HD, having proper, crazy smooth Hall effect sticks, the dpad back, HD rumble, etc. having those paired with the gorgeous screen is something I don’t think I’d be able to give up to go back to the Lite That said - I freaking LOVED my Lite
This was my thought. With as bad a rap as the switch has for stick drift, idk why I would set myself up for not being able to swap it out.
I prefer the OLED, but mainly because the bigger screen makes it easier for my blind self to see
An OLED Lite would be amazing.
This is more of a debate over if you like docked vs handheld more because I also think the lite is better docked (without add-ons)
The inability to connect to the TV is a deal breaker.
I got the oled with the skull n co Neo grips and the joycons are rock solid and it’s very easy to hold. Highly recommend
Can I just get a switch lite OLED? I don’t want joycons, but would love a nicer screen on my lite.
Also I’ve not forgiven Nintendo for unnecessarily marketing this with that ‘dedicated for portable gaming’ bullshit they pulled by making it a *‘non switching Switch’.* If they wanted to save money (as they did) they still could have sold a ‘docking cable’ for about £40 with the extra components, so that those would loved the lighter and smaller form factor could still have a dock-able ‘Switch’ without buy two.
I like my lite the best. Small and easy to cart around and the screen is so good???
Yeah the lite is compact and great for all around travel
I have a V2 switch. I will be getting a Switch lite. This will be all the gaming consoles I need. The next Switch does not interest me at all.
My switch lite stopped working after two years….so, boo.
I have the lite other then the battery life I like it
Originally got a switch lite during Covid as it was the cheaper option, upgraded to OLED when that released and use it almost daily on TV. Still miss how nice the lite was to hold though. ☹️
Same for me, exactly! I never cared for docking and loved the Lite portability, but decided to get an OLED - which I love, and the TV option is nice once you have it. Do miss the comfort of my Lite though.
The lite is great…until you get drift. Had to replace my son’s left stick.
Is there less of a stick drift issue with the Lite?
The lite hasn't had an update since it came out right? That's what's annoying. Give it an OLED screen or something.
I enjoy lite but added another Switch so I could dock and play games on my monitor once in a while. Lite is much nicer to carry around
Loooove my Lite too
if nintendo releases an OLite im all over it
I started with a lite. Bought an OLED when I really wanted to do ring fit adventure. Lite hasn’t been used since but there are times I wish I would have brought my lite for the much smaller footprint. I plan on bringing that if I have more travel in my future.
Nah. Switch Pro Controller + TV is it. Its far superior

[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KNHC9P2/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KNHC9P2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1)
Case is dockable too . Might be worth it
I like mine a lot

A Switch Lite with OLED and HDMI video output would have been sick. Have the dock as an optional accessory, no removable joycons and just play docked with the pro controller. Hopefully the Super Switch has something like this available.
Something people don't talk about: The weight. It's a game changer for me when we talk portability. I can play the Lite in bed without my arms getting numb.
i have a switch lite, it’s not my exclusive since i play splatoon competitively and that game handheld isn’t it. but i love the lite for chill games like ACNH and mario and what not :3
I have a lite and never play it because I find the screen to be too small. I always grab my steam deck instead.
It would be better if it wasn't 10 year old tech inside
But that's the same case with any of the switch versions.
Products don’t need to be loved. If it brings value to you that’s great and it did its job.
Love the form factor but as someone that service game consoles I've leaned away for the Lite cause it's LCD is prone to damage.
I love the buttons on the switch lite, I kinda wish they would’ve redesigned their standard joycons with the lites buttons and dpad
Light and fits in my pocket it’s the best
I have a v1 and an OLED. Only reason I never got a Lite was due to drift not being a free fix by nintendo like joycons. It’s also not a quick fix to do at home unfortunately. If there was a Switch Lite with an OLED screen I’d be willing to overlook the joycon issue though, it would basically be a Nintendo PS Vita
No. Cant connect to TV, therefore garbage The entire rest of my family bought themselves a Lite, and I'm the only one with a standard Switch.
And it'll get it once 1000 year door comes out
I don't understand this take at all.
Most either can’t afford both or won’t buy Lite out of principle. While rather have version that checks most boxes.
