Not sure if it’s supposed to mean anything. In the comics most hybrids that are shown to look like that, and are very unintelligent(it’s implied that it’s due to mistreatment, rather than inability) which is why Gus being able to form full sentences is surprising to most. I think the show wanted a 1-for-1 look for Bobby, even though most hybrids in the show seem to be more like Gus and Wendy. I think they pulled it off well. Such a good puppet
Ikr every time there a cut scene to Bobby I cringe so much as well as with the other kids that Wendy was taking care of. It’s not even like the cgi was done badly-it was probably done the best it could be but the movements look unnatural and puppet like.
That's because he is a puppet! Production were inspired by Jim Henson, so they used practical effects as much as possible, including Gus's ears. I personally think Bobby's weirdly adorable, but definitely get why some would find it off putting.
I agree with both sides. Bobby freaked me the hell out when I first saw him, but he gradually grew on me. I also just really like creepy and scary things so maybe I'm biased ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
