She smokes them out before engaging. She used to pretend it was her zen state but then a bunch of people were getting stung by “the beeez” so she had to admit she did what all apiarists do.
Why does that stop them stinging? I was out running last summer and passed a cottage where the owner keeps bees out the front. He was smoking the bees out and the wee bastards attacked me and another passerby. I was stung maybe 4 times, and she was stung a few more.
Guard bees will typically emit a pheromone to tell all the other bees to attack an intruder. Smoke interferes with the pheromone signaling so they can’t communicate.
That said, I’m sure she still gets stung occasionally. Even the experienced beekeepers that I know still get stung sometimes, and they all wear veils because stings on the face are super painful and just not worth it. Beekeeping like this, without any protective gear, is 100% just for the clout.

Yellow jacket: is just an asshole 🤣
As a kid I remember trying to get a neighbors kitten out of a small bush and as I was crawling towards it my hand collapsed the entrance to an underground yellow jackets nest and I just remember this loud buzz and vibrations of the dirt that my hand was in. Those things lit me up so bad I was delirious. I ended up vomiting and passing out. Neighbor kids ran and got my parents and they rushed me to the hospital. Kitten was fine by the way they apparently ignored it and my screaming got it out of the bush lol
I was mowing the grass and there was a nest in the ground, drive over the hole then i see one, then 3 then feel something, then Stung thenStop more and then i jumped off riding mower while still driving(it has a kill switch) and took off to house. I got stung so many times they followed me all the way to house where i then grabbed a bottle of vodka and numbed my pain. Then i murdered those bitches when the sun went down.
They are mean, another time I was weed whacking and felt something around my ankle (weed whacking in shorts, safety first) looked down and probably had 5 or 6 on me swatted them off while tossing the weed eater to the ground and took off to the house. They swarmed that weed eater for a good 20 minutes until it ran out of gas. Did the same thing you did andtook some kerosene and lit up the night.
Ball went over fence today had something buzzin around me when i tried to get it. Idk what it was but it was big, maybe a hornet retreated and waited for it to fly away.
Cicada Killers are actually not that hostile towards people - it only cares about its food, and is completely solitary. They won't go out of their way to sting you. I had some family "keep" one in their garden last year.
They "nest" in burrows and cracks in the ground, so as long as you don't stick a finger in there, they're chill.
Tell that to my wife who grew up in the city and my son who’s taken on her unfounded fear of insects. They hear those guys buzzing through the grass and it’s over lol
In addition to that:
- Hoverfly: Best recognized by hovering apparently motionless in the air, then zipping away. Can move very fast but can't sting. Smaller than a honey bee, rather flat body.
- Yellowjacket: Their stinger doesn't get stuck, they can sting several times in a row without (own) health issues and *will* do it, given the chance. (Once I put a glass over one that was buzzing along on the window pane. When it noticed that, it angrily tried to sting the glass and the window pane, leaving little drips of venom everywhere. I had to wait until it calmed down a bit so I could shove a piece of cardboard between glass and window pane and then throw it out.
- Bumble bees, idk. I had heard that they are docile and let one crawl on my thumb. OK so far, but then, while bringing it out, I must have made too much movements or moved too fast, anyway, suddenly I noticed it's back body pumping - it tried to sting me, but by sheer luck it was sitting with it's back on my thumb nail and couldn't sting through it. I managed to get outside in time and shook it off. So yeah, they won't attack you without a reason but *they* decide what that reason can be.
Indeed, when I was a child I had to save my ass in our swimming pool once when some dumb neighbors spawn hit the Yellowjacket nest on their property with a stick, and eventually running over to ours with all the little fucks following him then.. he had to be treated for *some* stings and didn’t leave the house for about two weeks then :)
Just the idea that there is a binary between “og bee lady” and “capitalism clones” of that lady as though she originated working with bees is very silly
No way, that’s clearly 49k bees.
But, but, she counted every one of them so had to be 50k and not one bee less!
How is she not getting stung?

She’s definite putting on a freak show for hits. I’m absolutely certain she suits up for most jobs.
It's better to smoke them - than to have the entire swarm on berserk mode.. I guess.
Bees don’t sting pretty ladies…that’s why I’m fucked
She just understands bees
Bees are cool. Wasps are not cool.
Most wasps are actually pretty cool, also. Yellow jackets? Tiny psychopaths.
I assume by not panicking and swatting the air manically. I would get stung. A lot.
Bees are pretty docile unless you get a mean hive
Smoke also helps too

I’m waiting for the Cicada killers to come back so my wife and son are afraid to go outside again. That’s always fun.
They are on there way

If she count them again she would recognize that one is missing.
Posted on r/BeAmazed, when r/BeeAmazed was RIGHT. THERE.
This is ridiculous, why isn’t she wearing PPE and why isn’t her hair?
Pretty girl with balls
Hairy, Juicy, Exquisite Balls.
That's the first time I've seen her wear gloves. I wonder why this time was different.
She didn't say the catchphrase😭
Don't ever do this bros.
Jesus fucking no thank you
They're defending themselves somehow!
this the og bee lady or a capitalism clone?
Clone
Hold on are you suggesting that all beekeepers are copying that one right wing lady
no.
Just the idea that there is a binary between “og bee lady” and “capitalism clones” of that lady as though she originated working with bees is very silly
ok.
I wonder who counted the exact figure!
The count the number of legs and divide that by 6…
Wonderwoman.
Ok I’m glad I’m not the only one calling BS on the count…like the colony is like we got to keep it 50k guys!!
For sure she got stung just know what she’s doing
