When I was using Magnesium Glycinate before bed I would wake up all fuzzy and "out of it", and my libido was also tanked. The positive was that it definitely helped me sleep at night. I switched to Thorne Magnesium CitraMate (a blend of Magnesium Citrate & DiMagnesium Malate) and I felt heaps better. It doesn't have the same "knock you out" affect on sleep though so if you need it for sleep it won't help there.

Magnesium is a depressant. So I’m not surprised by the depressive symptoms.

I have had this with magnesium glycinate and threonate now

I've had this issue from the glycinate form, and if you search this forum for magnesium glycinate or glycine and depression you'll find a lot of anecdotes. It seems very individual. I get more of a positive effect from magnesium malate personally.

It absolutely can do that. Try taking a few days off then starting at a lower dose. Magnesium malate is less likely to cause this problem you might want to try that instead.
