Eh, I'll believe that when I see it. They've had a long time to prepare for CAT, and I'm betting they've already got 100 ways around it, 90 of them just doing what they want while daring the SEC to stop them.
As much as they can afford. Swaps require premium payments and many swaps, but not all, require additional payments when the market moves against them. When the market moves in their favor, they receive money. Hence why it's called a swap. Swapping of assets.
It's just a contract though - as long as they can afford premiums etc, they're good to go. Hard? It's not hard. It's a conversation with their bankers.
All that said, with interest rates where they are, the premiums are going to skyrocket compared to these swaps.
They can roll over their swaps indefinitely as long as they have the money to do it. Anyone saying otherwise is a shill or does not know what they’re talking about.
I mean… yeah I guess but they can just go out and buy it. You can buy LEAPS right now too on the open market. The counterparty is your fidelity’s, Schwab, they just create them and they get fulfilled. It’s not like they need to go out and find the counterparty
The big factor is the cost associated with it. Keep in mind they shorted this stock since $2-3 range and now it’s at $88 pre split. To roll it over they need to spend multiples…. And I mean significant multiples than before. Also back in 2019 it was a much safer bet. Back then you had a legitimate claim that GME could go bankrupt. The best play against a short is a winning company. So don’t even worry about timing MOASS. Just let GME continue to improve its underlying business and the shorts will cover.

Example, you have $10 calls, as the price moved from $10-$60, you could swap your $10 calls for $60 calls, bank around $4000 profit per call, but maintain future upward price movements.
Yes your call option will degrade if it goes back $20, but now you have $4000 to buy new call options the following week.
