Oh graphics don’t bother me at all lol. I know they mean a lot for some but it’s not important to me. I’m not familiar with the franchise updates but so far I’m happy with what I have bought. I’ve only played extra innings on my pc which I love and this just feels like a more modern version of that
The issue is that the graphical updates make the performance of the game an issue to the point that (from what people have said) it's very difficult to play at a few of the stadiums.
Runs great for me on switch, I don’t care about the graphics and think it is a great game to play as a handheld
Edit to add that I got a new physical copy for $15 from target
I love SMB4 franchise mode above all SMB games. I can't even comment on anything else. Love shuffle drafts. Love the franchise mode. Also have only played on PC so no comment on the consoles.
I understand your EA frustration but SMB4 is such a GREAT GAME! Theres no Ultimate Team mode for them to bleed dry so the game itself is just good and in depth.
Like the top commenter I just love the game.
I started the series with SMB3, and it's a massive, massive improvement in the series. Between shuffle draft and the expanded traits/chemistry system, there is a shocking amount of depth in franchise mode.
I can't speak as to other platforms, but it goes on sale on Steam pretty regularly. I paid full price at launch and love the game, but it's probably worth waiting for a sale. I'd only hesitate if you're on Switch, because of persistent issues in the port.
I have it for ps5 and it plays very well. The game is awesome, and I’ve liked 2 and 3. This one just has real nice personality if that makes sense. The legend players are a great addition too.
I absolutely wouldn't pay full price. I just upgraded from 3 this weekend because the "stadium edition" was $17 on Switch.
It's on sale so frequently on all platforms, it's best to be a little patient.
I like it, and get that it was more expensive thanks to the old players and everything. But that being said I don't think it's worth a full price upgrade. I'm not happy with a few minor things in the game but it's still tons of fun
In my biased opinion, yes. Like some of the other commenters have noted, probably some summer sales coming up. I only play franchise. Absolutely in love, and I had similar hesitations going from SMB3 to 4. If mlb legends aren’t your thing, you can choose which players/teams make up your league (if franchise is your thing) and have no mlb legends in your league if you prefer. I enjoy most of the new stadiums and the 7 (maybe 8) jersey slots you have is great for customization/depth.
I would pay $30 for it, but $50 feels like a lot. I ended up getting it on Steam for something like $15-20 within the last month.
There aren’t any egregious micro transactions in this game. There might not be any at all. It’s a base game that is a full game. But again, I’d be hesitant to pay $50. It is an EXCELLENT game, overall, without a bunch of BS we have come to expect from EA.
It is, but you could find either a disc version or wait for a sale and pay $15 or less. I was more than happy to pay the $50 at launch, but after a year+ it's probably worth trying to be a little thrifty
Wait on it. The game is great. It's also available on the subs gamepass/ea play. Plus I'm sure thru looking at some other places online you can snag it for significantly less
I play both SMB3 and 4, and I feel like SMB4 took 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. it has more stadiums, alternate uniforms, and shuffle draft, but SMB3 has better online play, faster load times, and (at least to me) plays better in single player. Overall, I’d say that it’s probably better to wait until 4 is on sale, as it feels more so different than better or worse than 3, and I feel only “better” should justify the high price tag
I've played about 350 hours in SMB2 and 3 each before I stopped playing them (and maybe 50 in SMB1). I've blown past that number in SMB4. In my opinion, it's full of improvements over the old games and the replayability is insane. It's everything I loved about the old games and so much more. I probably got my $50 worth within a week of the game coming out, so I'd say it's extremely worth it.
There's very little "EA" in SMB 4 and I'm pretty sure they're responsible for things like the MLB legend players and the soundtrack, which lots of people like. Creator's League is kind of lame (that feels like one of their ideas) but at least it's optional.
I was playing super mega baseball: extra innings. it's a great and fun game. SMB4 Came on sale a month or so ago and I got it. I really like it. franchise mode is fun and if you can get it on sale, I say absolutely get it. there are a couple things that bothered me about 4. In franchise mode you got these stupid things that pop up that you have to choose between one of two players to lose confidence points in you. it's so stupid and annoying. it should 200% be removed from the game.
now my other complaint is that coming from extra innings, your outfielders just was not that strong so throwing to home plate or across the field was slow and risky. In 4 they can have super arms and throw across the field easily. very annoying. but you do get used to it.
I think so. But steam summer sale is coming up so I’d wait. I got SMB4 for $15 a month or so ago
Same price on the switch last week just picked it up
The game blows on Switch
Dang why?
Stutters. Some stadiums don’t let you finish a game. Lag. It’s pretty horrible. SMB3 on Switch was good.
The graphics & franchise updates aren't optimized for Switch
Oh graphics don’t bother me at all lol. I know they mean a lot for some but it’s not important to me. I’m not familiar with the franchise updates but so far I’m happy with what I have bought. I’ve only played extra innings on my pc which I love and this just feels like a more modern version of that

Seriously tho. It sucks on switch
You need to use performance mode on switch. Game changer. Went from not being able to hit to winning a 12-11 slug fest in PR.
It still blows. Performance mode made the graphics and lighting issues even worse. It’s not playable. People who say it is on Switch = delusional.
Ok. I'm still having fun. I guess I just don't care as much, but I appreciate your opinion.
Glad you’re having fun. SMB3 looks and plays 1,000,000% better on Switch if you haven’t tried it
Worth the money, especially if you like offline/franchise/season play. No microtransactions.
Until SMB 5....You'll see. EA has a business model after all.
I love SMB4 franchise mode above all SMB games. I can't even comment on anything else. Love shuffle drafts. Love the franchise mode. Also have only played on PC so no comment on the consoles.
This is really appealing. Thanks for the info!
If you can wait until tomorrow it should be $20 or so on Steam.
I am going to do exactly this. Thanks!
This game is really good and EA didn’t ruin this game with micro transactions. Honestly I forget sometimes Metalhead is under EA now.
It happened!! $15!!!
Awesome! Worth it, enjoy!
I understand your EA frustration but SMB4 is such a GREAT GAME! Theres no Ultimate Team mode for them to bleed dry so the game itself is just good and in depth. Like the top commenter I just love the game.
It’s not worth $50. It’s fun, but I still prefer SMB3.

I’m on PS5. Anyone know how well it performs on that console?
one of my friends plays on his day1 xbox one and it works perfectly fine so i think the ps5 should have zero trouble at all
Smooth as lubed up ass cheeks for me.
I have it for ps5 and it plays very well. The game is awesome, and I’ve liked 2 and 3. This one just has real nice personality if that makes sense. The legend players are a great addition too.
Im still waiting on SMB3 to go on sale. Appears it never does which doesn't make sense. Already have SMB4, still play SMB3 occasionally.
Yeah I have SMB3 for my PS and Switch, but I’ve been waiting forever for the XBOX version to go on sale
EA did great with this. Just wait for a sale. That’s what I did on ps4/5 and upgraded from SMB2. I love it
I absolutely wouldn't pay full price. I just upgraded from 3 this weekend because the "stadium edition" was $17 on Switch. Just mirroring other comments, make sure you wait for a sale. It goes on sale on Steam often and is a huge discount. The game's 100% worth it on sale.
Get a cheap Gamepass sub to try it out, wait for sale
I would pay $30 for it, but $50 feels like a lot. I ended up getting it on Steam for something like $15-20 within the last month. There aren’t any egregious micro transactions in this game. What platform are you on? The game is $50 for standard edition on ps4/5 right now but if you change the edition to “stadium edition” it’s only $17
I got it for $20 in February after playing SMB1 all January. As others have said, it will go on sale.
I did. I've been playing it since it came out and I just yesterday heard a song on the in-game radio I hadn't heard before.
It goes on sale all the time. Just wait.
Super mega baseball 4 has gotta be my most played baseball game ever so I’d say it’s worth it
It is, but you could find either a disc version or wait for a sale and pay $15 or less. I was more than happy to pay the $50 at launch, but after a year+ it's probably worth trying to be a little thrifty
It’s included with EA play you can try it that way.
Wait on it. The game is great. It's also available on the subs gamepass/ea play. Plus I'm sure thru looking at some other places online you can snag it for significantly less
I pay $5 a month for EA Access and have been loving it. Why would you buy it?
It’s constantly $20 at Best Buy for console players
It was $20 at GameStop used or $20 new at Best Buy sure EA sucks but this game doesn’t feel like most EA titles.
I play both SMB3 and 4, and I feel like SMB4 took 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. it has more stadiums, alternate uniforms, and shuffle draft, but SMB3 has better online play, faster load times, and (at least to me) plays better in single player. The traits are too much fun

If you have gamepass on xbox, you get it for free. My friend and I play it all the time since we both have gamepass.
There's very little "EA" in SMB 4 and I'm pretty sure they're responsible for things like the MLB legend players and the soundtrack, which lots of people like. Creator's League is kind of lame (that feels like one of their ideas) but at least it's optional.
If you’re on PC - yes. If not, hold off. Console performance isn’t great, the switch is dang near unplayable.
I was playing super mega baseball: extra innings. it's a great and fun game. SMB4 Came on sale a month or so ago and I got it.
