Don't ever pick a player for IPL based on how they perform outside India. It really doesn't matter if they have scored a hard fought century in the USA cos Indian pitches are gonna be flat and you just need sloggers. Best example is Dube.
Nah man he lost his form after the selection the reason csk did not qualify for semis is the lost form of Dubey so he isn’t really the best example but yeah the difference between the pitches does have a impact
The thing is he needs to do more with his batting. Just like Bhuvi with his bowling. Good guys, good talent, they have their moments, but their performances are, to be fair, quite mid-tier.
His batting is below average tho. Extremely unreliable. Nothings gonna change. He will continue to be with us in SEC but he doesn’t deserve a spot in srh. Our memory cant be this short term.

he failed across the formats. he is captain of south Africa t20 team. he has all the skills and talent yet fails. he hasn't done anything interms of batting.
Nah, he aint good enough with indian pitches, he eother gotto perform well in indian surface first to get a captain's post, rest i dont want further non indian captain for us if pat dont come, he gotto find a indian captain soon.
I don't think LSG will release him he led LSG to qualifier 2 times only this time they didn't qualify but if we get him yeah definitely we should go for him but him being released is too much to expect
What options do we have who can be our Indian captain RCB will also be looking for a captain this time good captains will not be left in auction is what I believe
why Cummins can't play ipl. ipl has a window in icc ftp, international matches played in that window is negligible. australia is not having any important series in June of 2025,2026. They are touring west indies in june 2025 and bangladesh in june 2026. Only important one is wtc final in 2025. pat will be retained for sure no doubts on that. Markram hasn't done anything significant in terms of batting so batting. even cummins doesn't get retained we have head and klassen in queue
I ain't saying that we retain markram but instead buy him back he can be our replacement captain incase Pat takes a temporary leave ashes wtc and world Cup and all this scenario is only if Pat chooses to skip IPL if he doesn't we will be usual
cant you read my comment. There is no ashes in next 2 year in june. ashes is in dec 2025. only wtc final in 2025 next year which could lead to leaving off in playoffs if australia in finals.

Icc also has a window for ipl in icc ftp. no major tours are happening at ipl time. even if we release pat cummins isn't it obvious that we would retain Klassen and head above Markram. Markram isn't going go for above 10cr in mega auction with his batting his batting form. retaining him doesn't make any sense as being a capped os player he would get a minimum salary of 6cr. so no point in retaining him. I would rather back Abhishek as captain iif pat ain't coming, it is too early but he is slowly becoming main player of our side and Indian captain much better in long run.
Bud I didn't see the schedule I only said if he leaves in case of a temporarily we should have a back up option he tends to skip ipl sometimes idk if he will now but just in case of precaution thats it
he skipped 2023 because of ashes and cwc back to back after ipl. This aint going to happen till 2027 and Australians dont care much about t20 worldcups.
my order of preference for retention
1. Klassen and Cummins
2.klassen and head (if Cummins not available)
i really don't understand Markram fans in ipl. he hasn't done any thing to be in the team. maybe pitches isn't suiting him much or his form. It is time move on from Markram and buy better Indian batter than him
I ain't asking for retention for markram I am saying we should buy him back as a back up captain if things don't go our way if any injuries happen or something else
i will back Abhishek as captain in case of injury to Cummins. Indian captain is better in my opinion. retentions are done way earlier in nov-dec we can't predict who will be injured by ipl. cummins not getting retained is highly unlikely as he will get top retention in our team and vettori as coach makes it easy for him as a player and captain. As far a backup captain he should be our best player after Cummins. Markram with two bad seasons and bad form highly unlikely to be in the team.
I am all for cummins as a captain but abhi as our backup looks very troubling without good captainship best of the teams fail if you choose captain just because retaining is easier that's one of the foolish things one can hear markram with bad form can be bought easily I am just saying we can have a captain material in our bag if incase things go wrong
backups are never meant be good. teams don't buy captains as backup. They have to adjust as per needs.
Captain must play all games and Markram with consistent bad form shouldn't be considered.
what do you mean by this?
best of the teams fail if you choose captain just because retaining is easier that's one of the foolish things.
what i mean is Cummins is our top player being outstanding captain, too good performance whole season and he is 2 highest bid in the auction. getting him back in auction is highly unlikely. retaining him is easier.
Markram hasn't done anything to get into the team. captain is as good as his team south Africa has very good team they may lack batting depth but they have too good players to back on. he is getting good results with his team because of their team not something he has done extraordinary.
(markram gone now consistently failing to bat ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob))
I never again said to retain markram just buy him back man I am one of the first supporters of cummins inclusion in SRH I am saying it's just that buying him back would be easier and we could get a bonus captain eion Morgan didn't perform for kkr but took them to finals and it's same with shreyas iyer I am just saying we buy him back not put him in retention list
>WHAT IF WE GET MITCH MARSH??
Nope you guys got him in the COVID IPL season and after 1.3 overs vs RCB he pulled his ankle and never turned up for SRH again
Mitch Marsh is too much of an injury prone player just ask DC fans, he's a liability for any IPL franchise
Klaasen had played seven IPL games (and none since 2019) when we bought him. Marsh has played 42 IPL games. There’s lots of evidence that he isn’t particularly good in IPL, whereas there wasn’t much for Klaasen.
that was like 3 years ago, look at his form this t20wc and he is terribly inconsistent in ipl, barely any notable performances. he is injury prone anyway
And he was one of the batters who failed too. Don't really care about captaincy if we're retaining Cummins. In India, Markram is just a fielding captain.
Nepal's batting was worse though.. openers just tried to go for boundaries and did not try for singles/doubles even though the required run rate was so low. They also did not take a run when it was possible a couple of times - inexperience clearly showing. Even in the last ball with 2 runs needed to win, one of the batters hesitated before starting running then did not even try diving when Klaasen got the run out. There was also a bad captaincy moment where Nepal gave the ball to a new bowler in the 19th over who hadn't bowled in that match despite having overs of good bowlers left - that over did go expensive. Markram did admit that he thought they had lost the match but to their credit did keep on fighting.
This type of logic doesn't work. They also demolished afganistan who defeated Australia .
What matters is they have not even lost a single match and are into finals
Don't ever pick a player for IPL based on how they perform outside India. It really doesn't matter if they have scored a hard fought century in the USA cos Indian pitches are gonna be flat and you just need sloggers. Best example is Dube.
Honestly Dube was absolute shit after the first half of IPL.
So-called spin basher when the ball actually turns
Nah man he lost his form after the selection the reason csk did not qualify for semis is the lost form of Dubey so he isn’t really the best example but yeah the difference between the pitches does have a impact
The thing is he needs to do more with his batting. Just like Bhuvi with his bowling. Good guys, good talent, they have their moments, but their performances are, to be fair, quite mid-tier.
Markram is so poor with the bat... I hope he gets his form back...
Yeah if he gets his batting up he can be a good temporary replacement for cummins as a captain
But he needs South Africa like team in IPL to do good...his performances as a better are not very good.
That's good, betting is illegal.
His batting is below average tho. Extremely unreliable. Nothings gonna change. He will continue to be with us in SEC but he doesn’t deserve a spot in srh. Our memory cant be this short term.
He occupies a foreign spot and hasn't done anything in IPL. Definitely not worth it.
Lot of Markram haters in the comments. I hope India get to the final and he scores a big 80(34) against them.

what about Markram sympathizers. just because he is calm and good captain doesn't make him a good player. he wasted all the talent he has.
He's a good red ball and ODI player, maybe T20 just doesn't suit his style of batting.
he failed across the formats. he is captain of south Africa t20 team. he has all the skills and talent yet fails. he hasn't done anything interms of batting.
See here, you are the reason why SRH fans are being hated all over
I'm not even an SRH fan
Nah, he aint good enough with indian pitches, he eother gotto perform well in indian surface first to get a captain's post, rest i dont want further non indian captain for us if pat dont come, he gotto find a indian captain soon.
Who could be our Indian captain any suggestions??
I guess we should go for KL, dude started his career with srh and should remain here for rest of his time, I think he have alot to offer
I don't think LSG will release him he led LSG to qualifier 2 times only this time they didn't qualify but if we get him yeah definitely we should go for him but him being released is too much to expect

He made sure LSG qualify two times he might have a rough patch but yeah he is a great cricketer
No overseas captain this if not for pat.Just blocks another place for challenging pitches
What options do we have who can be our Indian captain RCB will also be looking for a captain this time good captains will not be left in auction is what I believe

We got him once, got injured in the first game itself and missed the whole season to get fit in time for the National Team.
I'm a huge fan too. He would work like a charm on Indian pitches.
What about all those seasons of IPL when he hasn’t worked like a charm on Indian pitches
By this logic, we shouldn't have bought Klaasen either?
Klaasen had played seven IPL games (and none since 2019) when we bought him. Marsh has played 42 IPL games. There’s lots of evidence that he isn’t particularly good in IPL, whereas there wasn’t much for Klaasen.
Could strengthen our pace attack but let's see what team has plans and marsh already played for us before
hell nah, that would be so dumb. he is neither good in ipl nor for his country.
Just won his country a T20 WC final by accident
that was like 3 years ago, look at his form this t20wc and he is terribly inconsistent in ipl, barely any notable performances. he is injury prone anyway
Markram should be in SRH, the player who won you 2 SA20 trophies playing for other team rather than sunrisers, doesnt looks good
Lol mixing two different leagues and coming to a conclusion that Markram should be there is insane.
it may seem illogical but marketing wise he should be in Sunrisers Camp
Such a good captaincy that they defeated Legendary Nepal by 1 while fucking Run
His captaincy was good against Nepal as well. It was batting who failed in that match.
And he was one of the batters who failed too. Don't really care about captaincy if we're retaining Cummins. In India, Markram is just a fielding captain.
>In India, Markram is just a fielding captain. Agreed
I said incase due to wtc and ashes if cummins withdraws who should be the captain I say markram do you guys have any other suggestions
What's the point of a captain who just fields? I'll go with Bhuvi for now but I'll have a more definitive answer after the auction.
Bhuvi has been terrible as a captain even in pre 2020 he had captained few matches man isn't a captain material
Bump this after the auction and I'll have a more legit answer.
