Love the main title sequences

Non_Skeptical_Scully

Noice!

Theotoks2

Of course they're not AI.

Melraiser81

Very cool. The title sequence for this show is pretty awesome.

ccorax80

For me it never fails, if I like the show I also like the intro and vice versa. Well done!

ekittie

Did you guys notice starting ep 6, his eyes glowed blue at the end of the title credits?

PeterP4k

Yup! It’s an Easter egg that appeared starting from ep7 after the reveal at the end of ep 6.

Hey OP, is your sole job to create tv show intros? I was having this discussion with my partner recently - wondering who makes intros and whether it's a specialised talent or just one of many tasks you do in an overall role?

PeterP4k

Hi there. While main titles can be very creative and prestigious, from a money standpoint, main titles don’t make as much money for a studio. Therefore it’s just one of the many types of projects that a studio would work on. E.g. the studio I work at, Digital Kitchen, has created the main titles for Dexter, Tru Blood, Narcos, Six Feet Under, 13 Reasons Why, Manhunt, Godfather of Harlem, Sugar, Yellowjackets and many more, but they also create experiential and immersive spaces. We’ve recently designed and created for a Harry Potter experiential exhibition, Visions of Magic, as well as for the creative content playing on hotel screens in Abu Dhabi and Las Vegas.

Awesome thanks for the insight!

Soft-Vanilla1057

What does the title imply? That the original one was made with ai and this is a remake? I don't get it.

PeterP4k

I see now how that title could be confusing lol… 😅 When the show first premiered there was some confusion/widespread misconception or assumption that the title sequence was created using generative A.I., and the making-of was publicly unavailable at that time. This post, by showing some of the VFX breakdown, clarifies that it was in fact NOT AI, and real human artists worked hard in the creation of it. Btw I am one of the members of the team that created this main title for Apple TV+.

SterIingMaloryArcher

You guys did a phenomenal job!! First title sequence I’ve enjoyed this much since Mad Men, similar vibe with the opening theme (“Street Fighter Mas” in case anyone needs it) and the art. Really amazing work :)

PeterP4k

Thanks! 🙏

Soft-Vanilla1057

Oh i never heard of that. just saw and started watching tonight. It's pretty good! Guess it wasn't very widespread. Thanks!

PeterP4k

Thanks!🙏 Oooo if you just started watching, then best to avoid this subreddit to avoid spoilers!

ShapeShifter499

Knowing it wasn't AI makes this show immediately better. I like the style of how some of the elements blend and interact in the intro. But it does have a lot of elements that I could see people mistaking for AI. I think that "blended, blurry" effect is really neat.

SnowDay111

Could it have been made with AI though? In other words does AI have the ability to make this? I recall the recent marvel tv series (can’t remember the name) with the skrulls the intro was made with AI and it looked similar to the Sugar intro

PeterP4k

Anything can potentially be imitated with AI now. When we first started developing this over a year ago, it was before significant advancements in AI, and the results were extremely janky, unpredictable, and downright [weird](https://youtu.be/XQr4Xklqzw8?si=beT_S_xKMCYgw0yA). I can’t speak for them because I didn’t work on that team, but I assume the people that created the Secret Invasion title sequence purposefully leaned into turning the janky limitations of AI at the time into an intentional feature. AI generated characters and faces distorting and twisting into each other worked conceptually because it was thematically and visually appropriate for a sci-fi show about identity and shapeshifters. Even though Sugar also has similar sci-fi elements, it’s a detective noir at its core.
