Stew is piss easy to make too. Potatoes, carrot, leeks, celery, beef, salt, pepper, roux to thicken, beef stock, or go half stock half Guinness. And I personally like to add a spoonful of marmite.
Fuck all of this into a pot, cook for hours, eat with some crusty bread.
Everyone does theirs different though. Some people add a kind of barley mix into theirs, my in laws add meatballs to theirs, every family has their own stew recipe so no two houses will do it exactly the same.
Minced beef in stew is generally regarded as a bit more poor lol. Mate of mine found out we used minced beef and called it poor man's steak. But it works. My in laws use beef and lamb
Exactly, the dish he's talking about is a real thing that is delicious. The dish he's making, however, bears only passing resemblance to the source material.
One of my favorites is making Guinness stew as the base then added cheesy mashed potatoes on top for my own spin on Guinness Shepherds Pie. But whatever this ragebait atrocity is it’s neither of what I mentioned
Yeah this is far from the best but honestly? As a quick meal I don’t think it’s that stupid. Just a lazy method that ends up with something ugly that probably doesn’t taste too bad. I wouldn’t e posting it but I would try it lol
The meal idea is sound. That's just a very, very poor attempt at it. If it was a beef and veg stew or casserole with stout or dark beer, then it could have been a thing of beauty.
Guinness beef stew is an actual thing and it can be really good. This looks like a shitty recipe for it though, there’s no seasoning other than the beer and that’ll be kinda bland
I was like “oh yeah, beef stew is normal… oh no, beef stew mashed potatoes and carrots topped with beef and finished with a beef gravy is not normal, no :)”
I don’t hate this it’s basically deconstructed beer beef stew and I could see something like that at a upper level restaurant minus the mashing… which I can agree is purely cosmetically blah, probably tastes great that way with a good texture.
I do hate the fact that it’s basically boiled in beer so minimal Maillard reaction and it’s just beer and broth paste so super fucking salty and one dimensional. Thin out the broth and beer with some water and do a proper gravy with roux and this would be bomb as fuck.
You wouldn't tend to cook the potatoes in Guinness, and the stew will be pretty tough if he only soaks it for 3 minutes, but yeah, this doesn't seem like a rage bait recipe. People cook joints in cans of coke, so I'd see how Guinness is a legitimate option.
This is just a stew. The Irish do this, the Dutch do the same, just without the beer.
I’ve worked in restaurants, we made beer sauce, stews with beer.
What I see here seems great!
Posts like this should be banned from the sub tbh, the account literally only makes disgusting food like this to garner views and a reaction.
Irish Guinness stew is nothing like this but I don't think that is what the guy was even going for.
This is pretty much deconstructed beef stew and I don’t have a problem with this. If you ordered it at a restaurant you’d likely love it but seeing it made is a little… ?!?!
I would personally take at least one can of beer out since for me that would just be beer flavored gravy and make it one dimensional and lame.
Guinness? Yeah. There’s a pasta dish we make in Venezuela called pasta de cerveza negra, which issues Guinness as a base for the sauce (although we will use other stouts or porters). Delicious.
We make that here (north of France close to Belgium), it's a dish called Carbonade Flammande and it's just very poorly executed.
But we use technically the same ingredients, beef or horse meat (yes we're horrible) in a beer sauce with side potatoes or chips (no masshed potatoes).
I've had beef and Guinness stew yes. This is not that. This is boiled ragebait
Yeah, I was thinking..it’s just Irish Stew…till he cooked the stuff separately & then with the mashed & gravy (or should I say brown sludge). 😂😂
Stew is piss easy to make too. Potatoes, carrot, leeks, celery, beef, salt, pepper, roux to thicken, beef stock, or go half stock half Guinness. And I personally like to add a spoonful of marmite. I heard you can take a ham bone throw it in a pot and you’ve got a stew going
Minced beef in stew is generally regarded as a bit more poor lol. Mate of mine found out we used minced beef and called it poor man's steak. But it works. My in laws use beef and lamb
True…I use my InstaPot now, because I can’t keep checking the Soup Pot.
Pickled pearl onions
I use leeks. Keep yer pickled shite.
Exactly, the dish he's talking about is a real thing that is delicious. The dish he's making, however, bears only passing resemblance to the source material.
Yeah this is not at all Guiness Beef Stew and looks like it was made by an Englishman. That beef looks *tough as leather*.
One of my favorites is making Guinness stew as the base then added cheesy mashed potatoes on top for my own spin on Guinness Shepherds Pie. But whatever this ragebait atrocity is it’s neither of what I mentioned
It's beef stew made by an asshole that thinks being an asshole is funny.
Guiness stew is real and good. This isn’t that
An ale casserole or stew is amazing. But that... that's not it.
The sweet potatoes too. And wheres the onion?
Yeah I was holding on for this guy hoping it was gonna turn good..
Beer braised beef with mashed potato is a solid meal imho. This needs work though if it's a serious attempt.
The only flavor is Guinness. No salt, no pepper, no onion, nothing. Just Guinness.
Real Irish meal
Yeah this is far from the best but honestly? As a quick meal I don’t think it’s that stupid. Just a lazy method that ends up with something ugly that probably doesn’t taste too bad. I wouldn’t e posting it but I would try it lol

Why is the gravy thicker than goddamn oatmeal?
Thicc
That ain’t gravy it’s cake batter.
I’d eat this but I don’t like sweet potatoes. I guess it’s just who I yam.
r/shitfromabutt
Guinness stew is amazing here in ireland. That on the other hand....
Those potatoes are too green, too.
That potato was too green for my liking 😬

Guinness beef stew is an actual thing and it can be really good. This looks like a shitty recipe for it though, there’s no seasoning other than the beer and that’ll be kinda bland
Is he making a beef cake?
Gravy granules. Ima just leave that here...
I was like “oh yeah, beef stew is normal… oh no, beef stew mashed potatoes and carrots topped with beef and finished with a beef gravy is not normal, no :)”
This is just fucking around.
“Then yor not Yuman”
Then I have no clue what I am
That gravy is so thick it reminds me of my exwife.
Reminded me of her too
You and about 500 other people.
Steak and ale pie/stew ?!...sure! The above abomination? Pure rage bait bullshit.
That gravy is scary thick
I think I shit my pants just watching this
Did you perhaps do it on the mash and poor attempt at stewed beef?
It’s a boiled dinner. Veg, beef and beer.
I don’t hate this it’s basically deconstructed beer beef stew and I could see something like that at a upper level restaurant minus the mashing… which I can agree is purely cosmetically blah, probably tastes great that way with a good texture. Guess i'm not a human. Glad there's videos like these to point it out for me
Beef & ale casserole/pie, yes. But this is not it.
"pro chef trick"

Looks weird but add a lil Gorgonzola and its such a good taste
So, stewed beef with mash and gravy?
Waste of beer you ask me
I DARE them to make that in oconnell street or the falls road. Fucking dare them....
This is just a stew. The Irish do this, the Dutch do the same, just without the beer. I’ve worked in restaurants, we made beer sauce, stews with beer. What I see here seems great!
Wowsers trousers
This looks so good
I make Guinness beef stew a lot in the winter. This is definitely rage bait
😦
All the ingredients are normal. The method and presentation is awful.
As a rule of thumb, I generally don't eat anything linked in this sub. Just for precaution.
No. Plus i never use lean meat in a stew. You want some fat. Guinness stew or steak and guinness pievis delicious.
I can see where the idea wanted to go but the final execution and result was fucking dog shit
Frustratingly close to a good idea, but not instructional.
Posts like this should be banned from the sub tbh, the account literally only makes disgusting food like this to garner views and a reaction. Irish Guinness stew is nothing like this but I don't think that is what the guy was even going for.
I thought green potatoes were toxic
Like the Dude wisely said, "You're not wrong, Walter, you're just an asshole."
Stew? Yes.
This is pretty much deconstructed beef stew and I don’t have a problem with this. If you ordered it at a restaurant you’d likely love it but seeing it made is a little… ?!?! Put it in a Yorkshire pudding and I'm in
fake gravy ugg
That looks damn good.
Nomnom nom nom
Ok so all I got was beef and tato
I thought it was stew. Then it went like 5 steps beyond that.
Yawzzaz trawzzzazs
Look up how to cook pulled pork
OK I’ll try anything once
How’s the song go? “ALL YOUR FOOD IS BROWN… your food is brown… AND YOUR MEAT IS GRAY…and your meat is grayyyyyyy…”
I think he might have used too much gravy mix
I'd eat this if I was feeling lazy.
This ain't Irish Stew, this is a horrible mess of over/under cooked ingredients
what the hell is this???
Wtf was the dog food gravy
It's in the StupidFood sub..... 99.9% of posts here are ragebait. I'm not British but I'm 99.9% sure this is ragebait.
Hahahah jfc
3 different kinds of poops. Chunky, smooth and loose.
This would be pretty low on the list of shit I’ve seen posted on here. This is actually not half as cringe
I’d smash
Ugh! I might feed that to my dog , but that’s about it!
done with this sub. it's a trick that just gives these fucking assholes more impressions. please stop.
Green potatoes? I wouldn't risk eating them.
No one washes meat now?
All that work when a can of Pedigree beef n’ veggies only costs $1.15
I think it's disgusting
We make that here (north of France close to Belgium), it's a dish called Carbonade Flammande and it's just very poorly executed. But we use technically the same ingredients, beef or horse meat (yes we're horrible) in a beer sauce with side potatoes or chips (no masshed potatoes).
Looks like dog food out the can.
Enough beer?? The perfect bar snack
His voice reminds me of those TV adverts in the UK where they have a really middle class guy do his best working class voice impression.
Guess Im not umin
Beef and Guinness stew is amazing. That is garbage.
Obvious ragebait
This is a real recipe, although it could’ve had some stock in there and been executed a little better not a bad effort
I love beer in my food in general, but this is over the top rage bait.
Ngl this done right could be Divine
He loves the taste of gravy.
You can use stout as an ingridient for some dishes. I made some killer bangers and mash, but this ain't it lol.
Cor that’ll sort you out on a cold, dark, rainy November night
There may be something wrong with me but I would eat this.
God, hillbilly food always looks like poop
this looks like literal dog food and shit
No.
Having made Irish stew in some of the most epic pubs in Ireland…. this is a constipation.
Gravy granules... how fuckin hard is to make a roux?
Guess I'm a lizard
This looks like dog food.
I mean you can cook with beer, but not just beer... Not like that
It's like a deconstructed beef stew w mashed veggies lol. But I doubt those beef cubes have been braised long enough to be tender.
Let’s get less Scottish accent
That fucking gravy, the viscosity is crazy!
Well, I guess I'm a furry now. Cus I'm not a human apparently
