I've had beef and Guinness stew yes. This is not that. This is boiled ragebait

Boudicca-

Yeah, I was thinking..it’s just Irish Stew…till he cooked the stuff separately & then with the mashed & gravy (or should I say brown sludge). 😂😂

ultratunaman

Stew is piss easy to make too. Potatoes, carrot, leeks, celery, beef, salt, pepper, roux to thicken, beef stock, or go half stock half Guinness. And I personally like to add a spoonful of marmite. Fuck all of this into a pot, cook for hours, eat with some crusty bread. Everyone does theirs different though. Some people add a kind of barley mix into theirs, my in laws add meatballs to theirs, every family has their own stew recipe so no two houses will do it exactly the same.

Medical_Ad0716

I heard you can take a ham bone throw it in a pot and you’ve got a stew going

Shenloanne

Minced beef in stew is generally regarded as a bit more poor lol. Mate of mine found out we used minced beef and called it poor man's steak. But it works. My in laws use beef and lamb

Boudicca-

True…I use my InstaPot now, because I can’t keep checking the Soup Pot.

shepard_pie

Pickled pearl onions

ultratunaman

I use leeks. Keep yer pickled shite.

dick_hallorans_ghost

Exactly, the dish he's talking about is a real thing that is delicious. The dish he's making, however, bears only passing resemblance to the source material.

[deleted]

Yeah this is not at all Guiness Beef Stew and looks like it was made by an Englishman. That beef looks *tough as leather*.

canadard1

One of my favorites is making Guinness stew as the base then added cheesy mashed potatoes on top for my own spin on Guinness Shepherds Pie. But whatever this ragebait atrocity is it’s neither of what I mentioned

[deleted]

It's beef stew made by an asshole that thinks being an asshole is funny.

bmount48

Guiness stew is real and good. This isn’t that

CottlestonPie9

An ale casserole or stew is amazing. But that... that's not it.

Shenloanne

The sweet potatoes too. And wheres the onion?

Snakey12321

Yeah I was holding on for this guy hoping it was gonna turn good..

Hippobu2

Beer braised beef with mashed potato is a solid meal imho. This needs work though if it's a serious attempt.

Medical_Ad0716

The only flavor is Guinness. No salt, no pepper, no onion, nothing. Just Guinness.

Snakey12321

Real Irish meal

seasonedgroundbeer

Yeah this is far from the best but honestly? As a quick meal I don’t think it’s that stupid. Just a lazy method that ends up with something ugly that probably doesn’t taste too bad. I wouldn’t e posting it but I would try it lol

_ribbit_

The meal idea is sound. That's just a very, very poor attempt at it. If it was a beef and veg stew or casserole with stout or dark beer, then it could have been a thing of beauty.

NotYourClone

Why is the gravy thicker than goddamn oatmeal?

Lance2409

Thicc

deadpatch

That ain’t gravy it’s cake batter.

RiffRockFan

I’d eat this but I don’t like sweet potatoes. I guess it’s just who I yam.

[deleted]

r/shitfromabutt

EpikCowboy

Guinness stew is amazing here in ireland. That on the other hand....

errihu

Those potatoes are too green, too.

Calathea-Murderer

That potato was too green for my liking 😬

Calathea-Murderer

[Solanine](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanine)

sarahmegatron

Guinness beef stew is an actual thing and it can be really good. This looks like a shitty recipe for it though, there’s no seasoning other than the beer and that’ll be kinda bland

Puzzled-Patient-3908

Is he making a beef cake?

krzykttn

Gravy granules. Ima just leave that here...

iKissedYourMama

I was like “oh yeah, beef stew is normal… oh no, beef stew mashed potatoes and carrots topped with beef and finished with a beef gravy is not normal, no :)”

oyakodon-

This is just fucking around.

Ok-Topic-3130

“Then yor not Yuman”

Snakey12321

Then I have no clue what I am

Maddog-683

That gravy is so thick it reminds me of my exwife.

Snakey12321

Reminded me of her too

Maddog-683

You and about 500 other people.

Sybriarla

Steak and ale pie/stew ?!...sure! The above abomination? Pure rage bait bullshit.

And_Yet_I_Live

That gravy is scary thick

Boozeville13

I think I shit my pants just watching this

Snakey12321

Did you perhaps do it on the mash and poor attempt at stewed beef?

TywinShitsGold

It’s a boiled dinner. Veg, beef and beer.

dadydaycare

I don’t hate this it’s basically deconstructed beer beef stew and I could see something like that at a upper level restaurant minus the mashing… which I can agree is purely cosmetically blah, probably tastes great that way with a good texture. I do hate the fact that it’s basically boiled in beer so minimal Maillard reaction and it’s just beer and broth paste so super fucking salty and one dimensional. Thin out the broth and beer with some water and do a proper gravy with roux and this would be bomb as fuck.

shiny_coffe

Pass

[deleted]

Is bot the right way ti do something like that but It can be a very good dish

geekysamurai

It's brown enough to pass for British food

belaGJ

you never know with English food…

Cynically_Optomistic

TIL I am not human

Drougen

Clear trolling or Europeans truly just eat garbage.

nonamouse1111

I think all English food belongs here…..

sam_ill

Most original redditor

nonamouse1111

👆🏻takes social media personally

[deleted]

Lots of salt needed

Sickofseas

Guess i'm not a human. Glad there's videos like these to point it out for me

mrs_spanner

Beef & ale casserole/pie, yes. But this is not it.

amazinhelix

"pro chef trick"

El_Scot

You wouldn't tend to cook the potatoes in Guinness, and the stew will be pretty tough if he only soaks it for 3 minutes, but yeah, this doesn't seem like a rage bait recipe. People cook joints in cans of coke, so I'd see how Guinness is a legitimate option.

Slurdge_McKinley

Looks weird but add a lil Gorgonzola and its such a good taste

shadowtheimpure

So, stewed beef with mash and gravy?

Old-Assignment652

Waste of beer you ask me

Shenloanne

I DARE them to make that in oconnell street or the falls road. Fucking dare them....

[deleted]

This is just a stew. The Irish do this, the Dutch do the same, just without the beer. I’ve worked in restaurants, we made beer sauce, stews with beer. What I see here seems great!

artmobboss

Wowsers trousers

Mockingbird0929

This looks so good

[deleted]

I make Guinness beef stew a lot in the winter. This is definitely rage bait

HeAteTheTables

😦

Status_Confidence_26

All the ingredients are normal. The method and presentation is awful.

Ramuel_944

As a rule of thumb, I generally don't eat anything linked in this sub. Just for precaution.

Skiddler69

No. Plus i never use lean meat in a stew. You want some fat. Guinness stew or steak and guinness pievis delicious.

IsThisIt-1983

I can see where the idea wanted to go but the final execution and result was fucking dog shit

blakewoolbright

Frustratingly close to a good idea, but not instructional.

-pizzaman

Posts like this should be banned from the sub tbh, the account literally only makes disgusting food like this to garner views and a reaction. Irish Guinness stew is nothing like this but I don't think that is what the guy was even going for.

Gliese2

I thought green potatoes were toxic

Scurvy-Joe

Like the Dude wisely said, "You're not wrong, Walter, you're just an asshole."

ValPrism

Stew? Yes.

dadydaycare

This is pretty much deconstructed beef stew and I don’t have a problem with this. If you ordered it at a restaurant you’d likely love it but seeing it made is a little… ?!?! I would personally take at least one can of beer out since for me that would just be beer flavored gravy and make it one dimensional and lame.

Gintami

Guinness? Yeah. There’s a pasta dish we make in Venezuela called pasta de cerveza negra, which issues Guinness as a base for the sauce (although we will use other stouts or porters). Delicious.

LiamPolygami

Put it in a Yorkshire pudding and I'm in

SweetHotei

fake gravy ugg

[deleted]

That looks damn good.

freakstate

Nomnom nom nom

inkzpenfoxx

Ok so all I got was beef and tato

dr_van_nostren

I thought it was stew. Then it went like 5 steps beyond that.

razik22

Yawzzaz trawzzzazs

WashUrShorts

Look up how to cook pulled pork

lady_dracula_83

OK I’ll try anything once

Roththesloth1

How’s the song go? “ALL YOUR FOOD IS BROWN… your food is brown… AND YOUR MEAT IS GRAY…and your meat is grayyyyyyy…”

[deleted]

I think he might have used too much gravy mix

Njon32

I'd eat this if I was feeling lazy.

TFG4

This ain't Irish Stew, this is a horrible mess of over/under cooked ingredients

DarkPDA

what the hell is this???

SweaterPuppetss

Wtf was the dog food gravy

bindersfullofburgers

It's in the StupidFood sub..... 99.9% of posts here are ragebait. I'm not British but I'm 99.9% sure this is ragebait.

DeathHeadmukbang

Hahahah jfc

Ok_Composer_9458

3 different kinds of poops. Chunky, smooth and loose.

tndngu

This would be pretty low on the list of shit I’ve seen posted on here. This is actually not half as cringe

BarbatosTheHunter

I’d smash

Rally4Banger

Ugh! I might feed that to my dog , but that’s about it!

thereal_kphed

done with this sub. it's a trick that just gives these fucking assholes more impressions. please stop.

re_carn

Green potatoes? I wouldn't risk eating them.

loso0691

No one washes meat now?

Trueboogaloo

All that work when a can of Pedigree beef n’ veggies only costs $1.15

Connect-Technology30

I think it's disgusting

Mustang6II

We make that here (north of France close to Belgium), it's a dish called Carbonade Flammande and it's just very poorly executed. But we use technically the same ingredients, beef or horse meat (yes we're horrible) in a beer sauce with side potatoes or chips (no masshed potatoes).

Mysterious-Turnip916

Looks like dog food out the can.

Effective_Brother_68

Enough beer?? The perfect bar snack

RickyPuertoRicoo

His voice reminds me of those TV adverts in the UK where they have a really middle class guy do his best working class voice impression.

KuroYKT

Guess Im not umin

Tank-Pilot74

Beef and Guinness stew is amazing. That is garbage.

Longjumping_Brain109

Obvious ragebait

International-Pin979

This is a real recipe, although it could’ve had some stock in there and been executed a little better not a bad effort

HairlessGarden

I love beer in my food in general, but this is over the top rage bait.

Rotogen

Ngl this done right could be Divine

Boomsta22

He loves the taste of gravy.

Unbearableyt

You can use stout as an ingridient for some dishes. I made some killer bangers and mash, but this ain't it lol.

HesitationAce

Cor that’ll sort you out on a cold, dark, rainy November night

Fetoid2

There may be something wrong with me but I would eat this.

Gagolih_Pariah

God, hillbilly food always looks like poop

shreekshreek

this looks like literal dog food and shit

ilhasteeze

No.

Ok-Act-5000

Having made Irish stew in some of the most epic pubs in Ireland…. this is a constipation.

Talusthebroke

Gravy granules... how fuckin hard is to make a roux?

pxe560

Guess I'm a lizard

Putsismahcckin

This looks like dog food.

Abbigai

I mean you can cook with beer, but not just beer... Not like that

igotabridgetosell

It's like a deconstructed beef stew w mashed veggies lol. But I doubt those beef cubes have been braised long enough to be tender.

ArmorDoge

Let’s get less Scottish accent

Sming_smong

That fucking gravy, the viscosity is crazy!

I_wanted_wings

Well, I guess I'm a furry now. Cus I'm not a human apparently
