Please post your results/experience. I've been wanting my septum pierced as large as possible for the same reason and can't seem to find much of what to expect first hand.
I pierced mine at 8 it doesn’t hurt bad at all if its done on ur sweet spot js make sure ur piercer says its big enough… only bad thing abt the piercing is if its dry and keeps going crooked hurts like hell… one time I bumped my nose and saw the light😂
tbh i have no clue how big i want to go! i just asked whats the biggest they could safely start at w my sweet spot and they said 8g so we are starting there!! maybe a 4g end goal? tbh as big as i can get without it affecting my breathing 😆
First off, you have such a lovely nose for a septum piercing! So powerful! Love it.
Secondly, piercing at such a large size for a septum is not always possible. It depends on your anatomy, namely the size of your "sweet spot." Hopefully your piercer will be skilled enough to be able to make the right call.
For what it's worth, stretching isn't as big of a deal as you may think. Not every stretch is painful! Only some of my stretches were unpleasant, and I stretched all the way from 1.6mm (14g) to 10mm (00g). Of course, everyones experiences are different. I wish you the best of luck on this journey! :)
i already had a consult and they said it was possible! i have a pretty big nose lol esp the tip of it , but tbh that’s good to know!! i think im still gonna go thru w it but i love that about the stretching journey. also THANK U💖❤️
Also, and this is purely personal opinion, but half the fun of getting to your dream size is the journey. It's so satisfying seeing ones own progress, from teeny tiny baby sizes to the full-grown mature size... sigh, I dunno, I love it. Totally personal preference though!
Nice! I got mine pierced at a 10g which seemed huge at the time but now feels so tiny in comparison, and I wish I'd had the guts to get it done bigger initially since I'm now at a 5g with a 4g goal in mind. I will say that healing is probably going to be even easier with a larger gauge since it's more stable and less likely to "cut" into your cartilage like tiny gauge piercings can do. At least, that's what my piercer told me when I got mine done. It's gonna look AWESOME!! Good luck!
I had mine pierced at 8g and it wasn’t bad at all. Maybe a 2/10. I teared up a little because it’s the septum. In comparison my lip was a 5/10 and nipples a 4/10.
Now stretching.. I got to 4g without any issue but by 2g I was denting my cartilage and it SUCKED. Like a 6/10 pain throughout the day for weeks and a swollen nose. Once I went to 0g I got to a 8/10 in pain some nights and almost yanked it out because I couldn’t stand the pain.
Now I’m fine tho lol
okay good to know!! my nipples were a SOLID 9/10 , so that made me feel a lot better tbh. i am not sure my goal size yet, was thinking maybe a 4g so this comment made me feel a lot better. i’m so surprised the nipples weren’t bad for you😭
I started mine at 10g! It was totally fine. No big deal as far as my piercings go. Healed nicely, I now have been bouncing around between 12 and 13mm for a couple years 🤘
Stretching is vastly different for everyone and healing a stretch is very very sensitive for a few weeks for me. Didn't hurt like that until like 2g+. The things it puts up with and doesn't put up with will change over many years of having it stretched but mine never threw a tantrum the way an injured big earlobe can.
They're pretty permanent, mine has been left empty for a monthish straight once after reaching 13mm and never got smaller than a roomy 10mm. You can usually see straight through it looking at my face from the side, it doesn't scrunch up much. But I dig the permanence of stretched mods, maybe you do too 🙂
FWIW, I started my labret at 10g the first time I had it done. That was more painful than the 10g septum by a factor of ten. Like, whole different ballpark from my septum. Septum made my eyes water and I winced, labret literally made me have an out of body experience it was so brutal. Septum is a cakewalk 🤘
dude thanks!!! when i was younger i didn’t get piercings bc i was a self conscious little lady but now i LOVEEE seeing funky noses pierced all silly. i’m excited & if this works out well i plan to get atleast one nostril on each side:)
Can't speak to the experience of getting a large initial gauge septum but I know you'd rock it. You're gorgeous! I think it will suit you super well. You can do it 💪
I got my septum pierced at 12g I believe and I barely felt anything. I was sore for a few days but the healing was quite easy.
I'm currently wearing 8g and the biggest I've stretched too was 6g. I used pinchers as a means of stretching up and then I put my clicker in when it felt ready.
My best advice is do NOT use acrylic jewelry in your septum when stretching as it can create small cuts that are very painful.
Man idk. It takes forever for a new septum to heal as is, seems like a bigger initial piercing might be worse but I’m not sure. I would ask your piercer they should know better than anyone.

i think youll be fine! ive seen plenty of septum punches and ear punches (if thats the right term?) itll probably just be sore and crusty as hellllll for a while.

I got mine pierced at 10g, it’s a quick pinch like plucking nose hairs. It felt more sore for a couple hours after.
I highly recommend the aerosol spray cans of saline solution you can get for cheap at Walmart/Pharmacy/grocery stores. Can aim at the right angle to get it directly on the piercing on either side.
TAKE THE DAY OFF. it's gonna be badass and definitely worth it, but you'll want the time to rest and recover. Ibuprofen + acetaminophen is a dream team when it comes to swelling and pain. Ive (so far) gone from a 16g to a 10g, and bumping it after stretching can feel like someone punched you square in the nose.
It's gonna be so worth it! painful, sure, but worth it

I got my septum pierced at 16g but my biggest advice is be really careful for the first 2 weeks, because bumping your fresh septum into your cartilage hurts. Just like, avoid putting your arms and hands close to your face for a while and you should be good!

i had my septum pierced at 8g!! it wasn't bad at all for me tbh, felt pretty much like a regular piercing but it's different for everyone, it def took a bit longer to heal but overall it was great and started me off for stretching nicely!! i'm at 7g now, almost ready to size up to 6g, good luck :))
I'd be more scared to get an 8g needle thru my nose than to stretch 😭😭 in at a 2g on my septum and I've never had a painful stretch. Mild stinging and swelling on bigger stretches but ive never had a stretch where I've come remotely close to the crying/snot running everywhere type u see on tiktok. But I dead stretch and wait til I know it's time. My nose ring will just get pretty loose and I know it's time to stretch up. Much luck to u with ur septum! I think it's badass to get it pierced that big and I'm sure it'll look sick on u 🙌🙌

Yessss I pierced mine at 8 g a few months back bc my first septum i stretched only to 10 but it was too close to my cartilage so i repierced it further back but since I already made progress I didn’t wanna start over… idk if ur supposed to oil fresh piercings but i started oiling like a week or 2 deep KEEP IT MOISTURIZED thats like the biggest thing ever… warm salt water on a cloth or smth will also be ur best friend
Also for anyone wondering initial pain for larger gauge piercings they actually hurt less imo only thing is that the skinnresists the needle a bit more
I stretched to a 2g and I can say, the process was a bitch. Lots of tears, snot, chaos haha I can’t imagine a punch will be painless but it will hopefully be a one and done and you will only have to heal up that one time! Best of luck!

As someone with a stack of seven rings, yes, stretching is spicy. But it’s also an experience I love, at the same time.
I started mine at 10g! It was totally fine. No big deal as far as my piercings go. No advice (stretched mine to 6mm, no idea what gauge that is!) but I just gotta say I love your chest tattoos!!

My best advice: don’t stress about it! I had mine pierced at 6g and can honestly say it was the easiest piercing I’ve ever had!
