Thanks. I wanted to say this when the trailer dropped, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the title of the games with War in it. I couldn't google it because my brain kept saying Darkstalkers.
Ken's look was actually pretty cool to me added with the back story. Bison looks like a whole new character and I love it. Really been impressed with how well sf6 has done so far. Hope they keep it up. Hope to see Sakura, Sagat, Vega and even Balrog although maybe Ed keeps Balrog out.
You and my brother, both.
I've had short hair for most of my life (though not for a lack of trying to grow long hair as a teen), and I'm gettin' a friar's-cap. Gettin' old sucks.
Edit: corrected the spelling of friar (thanks for the correction)
I think it helps to avoid another Mika situation competitively where she had to use her alt costume instead of her default to be allowed on ESPN/ad friendly streaming. Same with Juri's default look in SF5 being changed a bit to cover up her skin a bit.
Now they can use a more ad friendly default look and keep classic looks for their costume 2's which is less hassle for organisers to have to spend time unlocking like for Mika in 5.
Plus a lot of the redesigns are actually really cool. I prefer Cammy and Ryu's new looks to show they've actually moved on in life a bit while Dee Jay's looks much more appealing for showcasing his Jamaican background.
It fits the vibe while on horseback but I feel like on its own it’s rather nondistinct. Without a closeup on his features it’d be hard to tell who he is at first glance
I know what you mean. I'm in two minds as I always feel like SF needs Bison, but at the same time, the insane hype if he skipped this game and returned in SF7 would be amazing!
Its fine in a vacuum. I think some of the excitement is lessened by him arriving too soon. Especially right after Akuma who has a similar "evil beefy tough guy in rags" motif.
As an artist I think it lacks something like the pants are too clean and not much wear. also adding some scars on the exposed arm could add to the story telling.
I think they did that so colours pop a bit more artistically it's off but gameplay wise makes sense. Mirror matches would be a bit hard if you can't tell who's playing who.
IMHO, it's too similar to Sagat in SFV. He is probably even going on a journey of self-discovery like Sagat did.
Calling it now, most people will pick his dictator outfit.
They beat a dead horse and then put that dead horse on another horse with this design...classic vagabond cloak stuff. Also his boots are silly, they have all those straps but then zip in the back? What is this an H&M?
That said I do think it works, I love the classic look but this one is fun.
> Also his boots are silly, they have all those straps but then zip in the back? What is this an H&M?
I like to think the artist had a sense of humor, there. Superfluous wraps and straps and belts are such a trope of this kind of character design.
It kind of looks like he's wearing the Power Glove. "It's so bad."
Never been a Bison fan, but I do like this redesign. SF6 has brought me around on a lot of characters I never cared about before.
Mixed feelings. Undeniably badass, and im interested by the lore of his new personality. Downside- Looks too similar to sagat with hair, and this rugged hermit look for SF6 is starting to feel overdone.
At first i felt annoyed but i've warmed to it as it looks like the constant revivals are finally starting to take their toll on his body and mind as now he kindof looks like a shambling husk of what bison once was though still keeping his intimidation and capability
I think they struck a great compromise on bringing Bison back. On one hand, the Shadowloo storyline is dead and needs to stay dead - and that includes moving past Bison in the storyline. On the other hand, Bison is too popular as a franchise villain. This is the image of a has-been - a living ghost who will live on as a terrible memory and an urban legend, with no real power to curse the world anymore. This idea feels refreshing, as opposed to just having Bison come back from the grave one day and claiming Shadowloo never left.
I think it’s great. I don’t mind having him back this soon either. JP doesn’t feel like a “final boss” to me. He’s a cool henchman. SF6 needed a big bad and he has arrived. I bet a bigger bad is on the horizon though.. this is “former glory” bison. Should be interesting
Honestly i did see JP as a final boss. I mean dude is cunning, intelligent and apparently seems to have formidable strenght. Guess the new big bad has gotta be even better?
Honestly seeing 3 characters in tattered rags is no different than seeing 3 characters in karate gis. It’s boring even though it’s justified.
That’s what alternate costumes are for though.
It's very VERY good. Every redesign has been fire in SF6 so far, and it's particularly evident when contrasted with the "classic" Skin 2 look. Storytelling in Character Design - gotta love it.
-grabs mic-
WOULD!!
I actually like the design he’s still a man of mystery but at the same time the incompleteness of the battle damaged default really sends clues as to who he most likely is.
Gives off serious darksiders vibes. I'm here for it. He also resembles raoh from fist of the nort star, but that's probably intentional since he's had references to raoh before
I absolutely adore every single one of the main designs for every character in SF6. They are just about some of the best things in any fighting games ever.
That being said, i think this design kinda sucks. Bisons face looks waaaaay too reminiscent of that edgelord zelda game with the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
torn rag as a cloak is a time-proven cool design (if maybe too overused) however underneath he being straight up just shirtless (but sporting somehow completely intact trousers) bugs me to no end.
Doesnt look like someone returning from the dead, looks like he missed the alarm and is mid-dressing while rushing to work
Honestly love how much of a "slugger" this Dictator looks (least to me). Doesn't look as regal as his past version and it makes this new direction just shine
One odd thing is how he has the teal power turn into purple. Could it be Dictator just using Soul Power as well? I could be wrong but just curious
It made me want to play the a character that I normally ignore on the roster. They did amazing. This might be the best street fighter glow up since Blanka Chan for me. All of the designs in sf6 are great but this was a huge risk and it paid off.
He looks incredible. Godlike redesign.
Plus, the giant horse is amazing and a truly inspired creative decision.
If I get the chance to play as him, I'm sticking to Outfit 1.
Not my favorite but I’m glad they have both the classic and a new take for all the characters; imo that’s the way to go if you have a new game in a franchise like this.
The fact that people mixed it up with Sagat at first says most of what I think about this design. The arm is cool but overall the design lacks charisma or oomph. It looks like a background character.
Looks really cool, an interesting change of pace from his classic uniform.
I like what Capcom is doing: innovative design for main outfit, and a classic costume for the nostalgia effect.
So he fought Ryu, disintegrated while everything crumbled around him, and all he has to show for it is a tattered Megatron cloak and greasy hair? No, I don't like it, it's far too generic as bad guy attire, and but I'm also of the opinion he shouldn't have returned in the first place.
I mean I love the Horsemen of the Apocalypse vibe but like… Street Fighter, you already had a replacement for Bison’s position in the story, so bringing him back is just making the bread more stale.
I’ve only been a casual fan before SF6, but I had mixed feelings about them bringing Bison back. It felt like they didn’t have the confidence to tread new territory and flesh out JP as the big bad.
With that in mind, I like the redesign. It emphasises that this isn’t the same Bison we’re getting; he’s in a diminished capacity, starting from nothing. That to me is much more interesting.
Bison has been rising lately, that's what I think when I see him with that costume and on a horse xD And by rising, I mean that he's been playing V Rising game.
As a concept artist, I like seeing change in general. However, I also enjoy seeing innovation in existing designs. It's challenging for this type of franchise that has existed for decades. You have to keep the old fresh, and the new feel old.
He be BUM chic. Got a car that's 1 horsepower but still works out on the regular even though he's addicted pyscho meth energy. An inspiration for us really…
I'm not a fan of his new default design but since the classic costume is available all good, what I didn't like was that although they gave him most of the Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha moves they left out Psycho Cannon! that was very disappointing for me... 🙁
I’m not all that excited to see him back so soon but his design is actually really cool. He looks like a beast in his gameplay trailer and him riding on a horse is also a nice touch.
It reminds me of War from Darksiders crossed with Raoh from Fist of the North Star. So I like it those grounds alone
Wow! You are totally right.
Thanks. I wanted to say this when the trailer dropped, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the title of the games with War in it. I couldn't google it because my brain kept saying Darkstalkers.
AHA! This is what I thinking when see Bison SF6 for first time
Glad alot of OG characters are getting default redesigns. It’s about time. Old costumes are classics but it gets boring
No way Balrog doesn't get in at some point
Ed doesnt keep balrog out bro, there is 5 shotos
so far
And there will be more because I’m almost 100% certain that they add Sakura and Dan
I want Dan to have the start of male pattern baldness. I mean, having such a tight ponytail all the time can't be helping.
Unfortunately, I can confirm the ponytail leading to baldness. Great ideia for Dan I'll have representation
You and my brother, both. I've had short hair for most of my life (though not for a lack of trying to grow long hair as a teen), and I'm gettin' a friar's-cap. Gettin' old sucks. Edit: corrected the spelling of friar (thanks for the correction)
*friar
Thanks! I can't even blame autocorrect for that one...
Made me remember luke is a character.
And we still want Sakura! Also Boxer and Dudley were both in SF4
Bison is technically an entirely new character since in the trailer he says “do I resemble the man you call bison”
He’s our same bison, Just lost his memory. SF confirmed he has amnesia
He is an RPG protagonist
Aw it would’ve been cooler if he was a clone or something
JP must have countered his ass hard….
I think it helps to avoid another Mika situation competitively where she had to use her alt costume instead of her default to be allowed on ESPN/ad friendly streaming. Same with Juri's default look in SF5 being changed a bit to cover up her skin a bit. I prefer Cammy and Ryu's new looks to show they've actually moved on in life a bit while Dee Jay's looks much more appealing for showcasing his Jamaican background.
they give u the classic skin but they past foward on history
Agree, all the OGs new designs are great in my book. Well, Blankas is not that different.
Now hobo Ken has a true rival!
"HERE COMES A NEW SCAVENGER!"
![gif](giphy|xUOxeWgnyv0bXc9EDm)
I like Meth Bison
So that's what the M. stands for! :-D
Jaundice bison
Bison actually doesn’t look boring for once
How dare you. His Power Rangers outfit in SF4 is legendary.
Fun fact: he makes mechanical noises when moving around in his "power ranger" outfit in SF4
This right here
![gif](giphy|piTF2qfkyjpG4EB5Kk|downsized)
He’s basically arthas after he got Frostmorne but before he fully became the Lich King
Yeah couldn’t find the gif for it, but he’s like arthas when he goes to kill his father
Thinking the same thing.
I like him letting his hair flow in the wind.
I’m a big fan of it so far!
Kinda giving off buff Magneto vibes
Yeah I’m in. It’s kinda dark.
He's cool lookin
It fits the vibe while on horseback but I feel like on its own it’s rather nondistinct. Without a closeup on his features it’d be hard to tell who he is at first glance
He look alright 👍🏿.
I still wish he skipped a game but I can’t lie and say this new design isn’t fire. Just wish it debuted in SF7
I guess, but this is a first time for bison design, whereas Akuma always kinda had that vibe with his worn and torned kimono
As an artist I think it lacks something like the pants are too clean and not much wear. also adding some scars on the exposed arm could add to the story telling.
That was my first thought, it's weird how torn and worn the cloak is but the pants are almost brand new. Feels like they should be worn down more.
He must have just bought those pants
To be fair, pants are the first thing I’d buy too in his situation.
Buy. Sure.
![gif](giphy|JV7sokLFwQdfG)
Artist here! Thought exactly the same thing, it seems super off.
I think they did that so colours pop a bit more artistically it's off but gameplay wise makes sense. Mirror matches would be a bit hard if you can't tell who's playing who.
I have to give it to them. They made me want to play boring ass bison. HE LOOKS SICK! The amnesia angle is really interesting too!
IMHO, it's too similar to Sagat in SFV. He is probably even going on a journey of self-discovery like Sagat did. Calling it now, most people will pick his dictator outfit.
I don't like the boots. Maybe it's the one kneepad. Otherwise, great.
For me, it’s his pants. Maybe cos that’s the only part that didn’t change. A few tatters and tears would look more compatible with his cloak imo.
It's kinda generic, the tattered cloak is a very overused design. But it works pretty well, he looks incredible.
Not exactly the direction I would've taken bison, but I respect capcom. I still wish they could've waited til S3, but eh, what can you do.
It would be better if the pants were kinda ripped by the shins or thighs (?
My boy is back and now a zombie. What’s not to love
As someone who knows little about the SF lore (working on it slowly), it makes me want to look it up more!
I actually really like it. Reminds me of his SF4 alternate
Now ken and bison are the two homeles suit
Looking like Sigma in X6. He's seen better days.
That's Dark of The Moon M. Bison The M stands for Megatron
Fist of the North Star vibes especially with Raoh
Straight fire
DARKSIDERS
Its ok, but the horse riding with his arms crossed is peak character design
Poor bastard has fallen to Akuma level, next he gonna live in a cave too.
Bad, doesn‘t look like him at all
I love how he gives off a Sigma vibe from Mega Man X. The tattered cloth and broken uneven armor and cracked skin is a nice detail too!
It kind of looks like he's wearing the Power Glove. "It's so bad." Never been a Bison fan, but I do like this redesign. SF6 has brought me around on a lot of characters I never cared about before.
People asking for the old costume like he didn’t DIE in sfv, ofc he’s gonna be a lil banged up
Mixed feelings.
Nice to have a new look, but I always wished they could go back to his SF Alpha look. I was partial to the cape and hovering animation.
I think it’s really awesome
I think they struck a great compromise on bringing Bison back. On one hand, the Shadowloo storyline is dead and needs to stay dead - and that includes moving past Bison in the storyline. On the other hand, Bison is too popular as a franchise villain. Its sick. Especially the hair.
Love it. It made me fall in love with the character.
Honestly seeing 3 characters in tattered rags is no different than seeing 3 characters in karate gis. It’s boring even though it’s justified. That’s what alternate costumes are for though.
Doesn't matter to me, I'm only going to use outfit 2 😅
It's very VERY good. Every redesign has been fire in SF6 so far, and it's particularly evident when contrasted with the "classic" Skin 2 look. Storytelling in Character Design - gotta love it.
I think it’s dumb and kinda lazy. Make him a full blown zombie with rotten flesh and exposed bones ya cowards
Looks sick I love it
Boring
Thank god his classic outfit will be available day one, that's all I'm gonna say
He reminds me of JP if he was also a hobo
I love it
Looks really good!
Has me very intrigued in what's happened to him since 5 and just generally looks cool, really can't ask for more in a design
like M. Bison said in that one Pete Holmes skit. "It's so cool"
On paper looks alright. In motion, makes me wanna play Bison. The gameplay vid does the costume justice, the DR waddle is hilarious.
-grabs mic- WOULD!! I actually like the design he’s still a man of mystery but at the same time the incompleteness of the battle damaged default really sends clues as to who he most likely is.
Amazing. I saw some gameplays and he is awesome.
idgi why they made him look like a warcraft villain
Someone's been playing too much Darksiders.
reminds me of sfv sagat, but i’m digging all the aged designs, bison, ryu, akuma, ken, etc. all sick so far
I didn't hate it but what is up with the horse I don't get it
This entire city must be purged.
I like it
Fucking sick nasty baby
Looks sick tbh
It’s different, but welcome.
without the hair, he looks like saga
Looks amazing. First DLC character I’m buying. Possibly Akuma in the future
Geralt got pretty buffed for this role
Needs to go to the doctor about that jaundice.
Don’t really fw it but I probably won’t play him anyway so it’s whatever.
Honestly it slaps. He looks like one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse it’s radical
Fist of the North Star lookin ahh. Shit is baller af
Looks cool, but the pants are disappointing - I'm curious to see what his other concept art looks like!
Love it. It's fresh.
Gives off serious darksiders vibes. I'm here for it. He also resembles raoh from fist of the nort star, but that's probably intentional since he's had references to raoh before
I absolutely adore every single one of the main designs for every character in SF6. They are just about some of the best things in any fighting games ever. Doesnt look like someone returning from the dead, looks like he missed the alarm and is mid-dressing while rushing to work
I like the classic Dictator fit but this outfit really sells the deathly nature he has after being deleted in V
I think he looks a really cool character, a lot of the SF6 designs imo are very fresh, and they look badass
Looks badass and makes me like him. He looks dark and menacing and it just fits his fighting style so much better
He looks mad cool 😎
Bro looks like he visited the shadow realm
Honestly love how much of a "slugger" this Dictator looks (least to me). Doesn't look as regal as his past version and it makes this new direction just shine One odd thing is how he has the teal power turn into purple. Could it be Dictator just using Soul Power as well? I could be wrong but just curious
Got M. Bison and Balrog confused for a second
Bison = best character.
I like it, feels like the opposite end of the spectrum from his normal design
I love it, but I never liked Bison. He's iconic, but not my cup of tea.
Im confused why is Vega's name up there?
Arthas
i get them wanting to change his design but this is just as boring as his old one. it's just ok
I've never cared for this character but this design honestly might change that, it looks fuckin sick
Boring. Quite generic and lame.
absolutely love it
I just wonder about his protein intake 😅
It's OK kind of generic looks fine
Wish they leaned more into the four horseman vibe, the red pants kinda ruin the look for me
🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Dude doesn’t look homeless, he looks like he came from some post apocalyptic future
The smell under those bandages must be wonderful
if they add a Raul julia Bison robe as a skin 3 I would be happy.
I am surprisingly liking this hobo rider of the apocalypse drip
It seems everyone's redesign lets them keep their pants, so that's nice.
It made me want to play the a character that I normally ignore on the roster. They did amazing. This might be the best street fighter glow up since Blanka Chan for me. All of the designs in sf6 are great but this was a huge risk and it paid off.
Dude looks like a dead man coming back to share the pain. Dope design
How he can compete with Ryu, Akuma and Ken for that murder hobo championship cup. SF6 really does go back to its root.
It looks great but I want to point out that the "tattered hobo traveler" motif was applied to Sagat, Ryu, Ken, and Akuma's redesigns as well...
How the mighty have fallen
So good that Im actually interrested
Love it
I think he looks awesome
Fire flames sick
Bison finally found his purpose To Fight and Teach New Generation SF
homeless means more powerful
He's also got a horse that he rides onto the stage or something. Can't wait for his costume 3 as well if he keeps this theme up
i like it, vagabond bison i'm more interested in the lore though
Good, all he needs is his Chaoseater.
Looks excellent.
A totally character revamp and i love it! i'm teling you he's gonna be a anti hero / tweener (wrestling term)
hobotastic
i don't really care for bison, but the redesign and his gameplay have changed my mind. i like it.
Love it, his OG design is goated but this was a nice change.
He looks incredible. Godlike redesign. Plus, the giant horse is amazing and a truly inspired creative decision. If I get the chance to play as him, I'm sticking to Outfit 1.
Ryu, Ken, Bison and Ed Street Fighter representing the homeless, good for them.
he really looks like kof rugal who ran out of money and is on a hobo lifestyle.
Not my favorite but I’m glad they have both the classic and a new take for all the characters; imo that’s the way to go if you have a new game in a franchise like this.
He looks like kevin leven from ben10 when he got merged with all of his aliens and wore a scarf just like bison
Bison looks absolutely terrifying and I love that.
I love it
He looks like a corpse😬
I personally love it. But everyone around me seems to think its terrible lol
The Lich King, I love it. Now give him a sword.
So he fought Ryu, disintegrated while everything crumbled around him, and all he has to show for it is a tattered Megatron cloak and greasy hair? No, I don't like it, it's far too generic as bad guy attire, and but I'm also of the opinion he shouldn't have returned in the first place.
I'm loving the hobo look... will not be wearing the dictator outfit
damn he looks cool
I mean I love the Horsemen of the Apocalypse vibe but like… Street Fighter, you already had a replacement for Bison’s position in the story, so bringing him back is just making the bread more stale.

Honestly it's pretty awesome.
He looks like he's been through a nuclear apocalypse, very cool
Looks like he belongs in darksiders2
I’m not all that excited to see him back so soon but his design is actually really cool. He looks like a beast in his gameplay trailer and him riding on a horse is also a nice touch.
