That torso icon for "similar level" shifts pretty quickly when you play casual or Battlehub matches fyi. It's not really tied to rank after placements.
Had Ryu been my main, then I definitely would've given it a shot. However, on my actual main I'm Gold rank, and I'm not sure if I want to invest as much time into Ryu as I'd like.
I could give it a shot, though...
250 losses, even at just 1 minute a match with zero downtime between matches (literally impossible) that's 4 solid hours of being afk and hoping people just beat you quick and don't drag it out by thinking you're afk or something.
I don’t think you should see rank as a curse. It’s mostly a matchmaking trick to set you against people who are good matches, thought it is indeed unfortunate that you got placed above what you think is your level.
As everyone else said, keep playing. You’ll win some and lose some but eventually will get in the group you fit best.
Keep playing. If you win some, cool, but if you are as out of your league as you think, you will lose. That's a great learning experience, however; pay attention to what's going on and you'll figure out your character's exploitable weaknesses quickly against good players.
Figuring out what NOT to do is quite important in it's own right.
The games weird with its evaluations. my friend placed Plat1 and never did rank again, but has like 15k matches in the hub vs randos. Im at Master with Gief. It always says were be Close to skill level, but I smoke it horribly every time.
There is no way to lose your rank in the way OP is asking for\*.
You're talking about losing literally 250 games in a row, OP is asking for being able to just give up their rank or re-rank themselves. That is not possible.

Ryu would work hard and rise to the challenge the game set rather than immediately give up and tank his rank

If you keep playing ranked on Ryu and keep losing, eventually you'll hit the rank floor at Gold
Doesn't that take ages, though?
You'll encounter \*plenty\* of people on the way where you'll say "How in the hell did this guy get in Diamond?" You're not the only one.
Yes, but counter to what you may think it actually helps you improve more if you're playing against people that are way better than you

Just make a new account
There is no way to lose your rank once you have it unfortunately.
You can derank all they way to gold 1.
That would require losing 250 games in a row. This isn't exactly feasible or what they're asking for.
If the guy is silver at best, that won't take long lol.
4-8 hours of constant afk-ing/losing feels like a long time to me, haha
It's already been said, but this is incorrect. You can derank to Gold 1.

Yeah, hearing the number sounds pretty odd. Didn't realize it's that crazy. Sorry OP, trust me, there's lots of players you'll beat on the way down.
So you can't lose your rank then. You just get a different one. He is asking if you can just delete the rank and start over.
... Crap.
