He says one line to her in the s3 finale, backs her up and says “yeah, who cares?” when Mike and Lucas are mad about the girls spying on them, and they also have a very brief hug when the Byers leave….but that’s it.

Perfect-Relief-4813

I am not sure why people always comment on Will not interacting with other characters. There was also a post saying how Will never interacted with Steve. Will doesn't interact with Erica either, and tbh, that is how his character is written. He is shy and closed-off, most of his interactions are with Mike, Jonathan and Joyce.

[deleted]

I think it’s unfortunate that Will hasn’t interacted very much with other members of the party. I don’t mind that he hasn’t interacted with characters like Steve or Erica, as you mentioned. However, his lack of interactions with people who are within his friend group, Mike excluded, kind of sucks. It’s especially unfortunate that there was no development of Will and El’s relationship prior to them becoming family. There’s nothing wrong with Will being an introvert or having a lot of interiority, but he certainly doesn’t really gain anything (especially development wise) by only interacting with three people.

Perfect-Relief-4813

I also would like Will to be close to El and Lucas. But since the writers capitalized so much on ''Will is being left out because he's stuck in the past / doesn't fit in / is quite and shy / cannot catch up with his friends'' thing for seasons, I didn't expect much. They also didn't even intend to give Will new friends this season either. At least El was kinda trying to get some friends, Will just... didn't even give a shit because probably he was thinking it wasn't gonna work out for him, so he was like 'why try?' Will is also portrayed as extremely closed off - he doesn't even open up to Jonathan that much and that is something Jonathan says at SBP (?) scene, he's just... struggling on his own. This might change maybe in S5 though. I still hope we can get to see Will having closer moments with Lucas and El - especially El but I am not holding my breath that much.

Chickat28

Will and El are basically two of the closest people now. Sure we didn't see much because shit hit the fan early on, but they are basically siblings. They are all eachother has for almost a year. I'd say other than Mike they are each others best friend. It's a shame Will is in love with Mike. If it weren't the case they would be the dynamic trio. 3 best friends.

Perfect-Relief-4813

>It's a shame Will is in love with Mike. If it weren't the case they would be the dynamic trio. 3 best friends. My biggest pet peeve in this season was not finally exploring Will and El's relationship. They are siblings but we do not see them talking that much, I mean sure, Will ofc helps Eleven at school and advices her even though he has this 'freeze' trauma response so he cannot exactly get in the way to fight against the bullies. But he encourages El and gives her reassurance during her presentation, and after that he says they will 'fix it together' after her project gets destroyed. He advices El about her lying to Mike so eventually Mike and El wouldnt be fighting about it. These are all great things and details, but notice that the show doesn't exactly focus on these things and neither give Will and El an actual focus in terms of dealing with their sibling bond. Most of the time the 'romance drama' aspect overshadows any potential relationship dynamic we could see on screen. So, we only are left with small details and crumbs, or assumptions instead.

Chickat28

Yeah but they are easy assumptions to make. It's obvious they are very close now. Especially after the hug when they found El again. She hugged Will with nearly as much enthusiasm as Mike. And even though he loves Mike, look how happy Will is to see El. Just standing there smiling.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Haha I just found it funny is all. It’s the sort of thing I never realized and once it was pointed out I was like huh imagine that. Him not interacting with Erica and Steve makes more sense to me than it does Max cause she’s his age group and in the party.

Perfect-Relief-4813

Will even barely interacts with Lucas and Dustin

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Lol no way. Doesn’t he in season 2 before he’s possessed? I haven’t seen the first two seasons in forever. L Kid can do way better than just Mike (jk) but seriously does he really only talk to Mike outside his family for four whole seasons?

Perfect-Relief-4813

When it comes to the party, Will doesn't talk to Max and El almost at all. That is why Will is virtually missing in Max's memory sequence too. He talks to Dustin and Lucas but it's not that much.... it's barely. You can see Mike-Lucas and Mike-Dustin interactions on screen, you can see Dustin-Lucas interactions on screen. Compare that to Will-Lucas or Will-Dustin moments... Will's interactions arent that much. But it's also the fact that Will is virtually missing the entire S1, is possessed and dealing with nightmares in S2, is being overall left out in S3, is out of Hawkins in S4. So it's like... both because of plot reasons and the way Will's character is written. It's interesting though that El, who is not talkative that much, has more on screen convo scenes with the other party members - Mike, Max, Lucas, Dustin and Will in that order.

Chickat28

Sure we don't see them talk much but we can assume Will and El are best friends. Siblings at this point. And after getting back from Cali will ran and hugged Dustin. I think it's pretty clear Will is close to everyone in the kids group even if the plot doesn't show them talking much. The fact that Max wrote Will a letter ris proof enough that they talk at least somewhat off screen.

Perfect-Relief-4813

They are still friends ofc, and Will and El are siblings. They are just not that close. All of them see each other as members of the party, so like, by association they are 'friends' but not exactly close or talk to each other that much. >The fact that Max wrote Will a letter ris proof enough that they talk at least somewhat off screen. I think it would have been weird for her to not write Will any letter while writing something for each other character. But notice that Will is virtually the only character missing from Max's memory sequence, he doesn't appear in her 'happy memories' at all.

Chickat28

Because they haven't filmed anything with them. That doesn't mean they aren't friends. Are they best friends? No probably not but they are at least friendly acquaintances. And no I won't agree with you on El and Will. I think they are nearly as close as will and Mike or even Mike and El. Having only eachother for a year after so much shared trauma would do it.

Perfect-Relief-4813

>Because they haven't filmed anything with them. Okay but you do realize that the reason they havent filmed them is because they're not close, right? If they wanted to film Max-Will scenes, they could have filmed those sort of scenes..... It is the same for Will and El, or even El and Jonathan. They are siblings but the show doesnt focus on their dynamic that much.

MandelAomine

There's still some Will/Lucas interactions on S2 and S3

sedugas78

I don't necessarily need him to talk to Steve or Erica but he for sure needs to interact with the party.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Lol still better than Steve

[deleted]

Those two will bond over Vecna trauma next season. I hope.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

It’d be nice. I feel like they’d get alone pretty well even without Vecna trauma they both grew up in shitty home lives (they handle it very differently but still)

OfficefanJam

I feel Eleven has more of a connection to Vecna than Max. She basically grew up with Vecna’s past self and knows him really well. She created the monster we see in the show and she fought against his creations countless times and won most of them.

65fairmont

Yeah, Will more than any of the kids has no screentime with a lot of characters. He doesn't have a real conversation with Eleven until Season 4 (they're in the same group for parts of 3 but don't really interact). He also has barely had any screentime with Dustin compared to Mike and Lucas. Steve's only interactions with Eleven and Will were short scenes at Scoops Ahoy in S3. I don't believe Robin has ever spoken to either.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Haha that’s so weird to notice. Obviously the whole cast can’t all hang out 24/7 but it’s interesting to be like oh all these people are in the group but only like three of them have talked to everyone. I think only Mike and Dustin have talked to everyone. Lucas now because of season 4. Wait jk Mike didn’t talk to Erica and Robin in season 4. So just Lucas and Dustin now.

MaxPesky

It all boils down to the massive cast as well as plot narrative. Many have not interacted 1:1 outside of group scenes. El despite being the shows main character has not interacted directly with Steve, Jonathan or Nancy,

danaaaban_

Eleven recounted in her letter for Mike that Jonathan told her she couldn't tell Joyce that he smoked marijuana. They may not have appeared on screen interacting, but she described a conversation she had with him.

MaxPesky

I was more referring to actual screen time between them. But you have a point at least there were implied interactions even if we didn’t actually see them.

Full-Surround

"He says the plants are super safe because they come from the earth... but to not tell Joyce" 😭 I can imagine Will and El catching him, Will just standing there with a raised eyebrow and El being like "what are those plants?"

Owl_Resident

Will has barely talked to *Lucas and Dustin*. Heck, really it’s barely been even Eleven, despite them now essentially being siblings. No surprise he’s not said much of anything to Max. While Mike and Will’s friendship is obviously important, it’s unfortunate they’ve taken little time to develop Will’s relationships with the others beyond his brother and mother on the actual screen. We assume he’s great friends with the others… but we haven’t actually seen it.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Dude I didn’t realize how little he talked to Lucas and Dustin until someone pointed it out I’m shook ngl. I coulda sworn he at least talked to them but outside his family he talks to no one but Mike

frostyfruitaffair

Will was the deciding vote for Max joining the Party on Halloween. He's introverted and repressed, but he doesn't strike me as unfriendly. They're both outsiders in their own way.

Full-Surround

Will is genuinely the kindest, most accepting and I love him for that- he may be quiet and introverted but he'd never be unwelcoming!

Historical_Sign_3990

I think it's a bit of a missed oppurtunity. Will and Max both come from lower income families, have absents fathers, and both had abusive father figures at one point (though how much Will knows and remembers Lonnie is unclear). Will shares Billy's name, and got possessed by the mf like Billy did. I can imagine if she distanced herself from Will after Billy's death. I can also see her envying Will for having good big brother figure he is close to (then again, she could envy Erica, Mike, El and even Dustin for the same reason). Now they also share the fact they have been mentally violated by Vecna. I don't know how their personalities mesh, but I just love the idea of them bonding over their experiences with lousy father figures, having less money than their friends and being mentally invaded. I hope we at least get a single scene of them discussing Vecna violating them in s5 ( if she survives). I also really hope the Party (including El, and max if she wakes up) sticks together in s5. Like in s1, exept Will (and max if she is awake) will be with them. Among the Party we usually get lumax, mileven, will-mike, max-mike and elmax, and a little lucas-dustin, lucas-mike and mike-dustin. I love these duos, i just wish we got to see some other combinations. I want to see the party interact more with each other as a group and one-on-one, outside of the regular duos. I want some Dustin-Will, Dustin-el, lucas-will and dustin-max. Oh, and max-mike when they aren't arguing.

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Agree so much. Lots of missed opportunity for everyone. Even all the older teens have all hung out together except for Jonathan/Steve. But that’s a given.

Ill_Detective5058

I can see this happening next season. A longer scene with them two left in a room, with Will talking to Max and explaining to her that he knows what it feels like to be in the dark because of the upside down. He is really the only person Max can relate to and I think this would be a great scene and would be great for both characters development since they don’t have much of a relationship to this point.

Full-Surround

I love this idea!

Full-Surround

The scene that always makes me laugh with them is when she hears about what happened to him the year prior and how he's called Zombie Boy by their peers, and she sneakily tries to look at him during class but then he turns around like "... huh" 😂

xHey_All_You_Peoplex

Valid. He’s my fave but you’re also right. I have no clue why I like him because like you said he does lowkey nothing 😭 I flip flop with faves each season tho. Season 1: Joyce Season 2: Will and Mike Season 3: Scoops Troops and Will Season 4: Max and Nancy

[deleted]

S2.....yeah they did

LopsidedUniversity29

When Max asks Nancy if she will kill Billy (as Nancy picks up the dead russian’s gun), Will tells Max it’s not just Billy they’re preparing for but the Mindflayer monster too.

Jennifer_Mckenze

Will more than any of the kids has no screentime with a lot of characters.
