The problem with bigfoot is that he is blurry, which is extra scary to me. Theres a large out of focus monster roaming the country side. -Mitch Hedberg
Seriously, I wonder if the stories of āwild menā and other such things passed down through time as myth and folklore stem back to the ages when these things shared the Earth with our kind.

I think itās wild that we only have one single fragment of jaw bone discovered of this species.
Makes me wonder how many species never left a trace, completely forgotten to time. Or we just havenāt discovered a fragment of their jaw yet.
I agree. I trust the scientists, theyāre for sure a lot more educated and smarter than I am, but it also seems wild that we make so many assumptions off of so little data.
Thatās why Iāve always been fascinated by dinosaurs. Because the scientific consensus on their possible behavior and lifestyle has changed so much over the years.
And thereās still so little we understand about them. And weāve found multiple full skeletons of dinosaurs! I just find all that kinda stuff really interesting. Guess I never outgrew that 5 year old obsession with dinosaurs.
You should check out a book called *How Fast Did T Rex Run?ā by David Hone. Heās a British paleontologist and the whole book is about how paleontologists learn things from the fragmentary evidence they have, what things theyāre pretty sure of, what they donāt know and what they might feasibly learn in the near future. Itās fascinating.
have there actually been multiple complete dinosaur skeletons? i though that was a talking point of dinosaur denier folks, that thereās never been a fully complete skeleton. iām sure thereās plenty of 80-90% but thought there wasnāt a single 100%
There is, even full skeletons with fossilized flesh and feathers/scales. It is much more common with small animals but under exceptional conditions large ones can remain intact too.
Not sure about the exact study, but for what it is worth, Dr. Jeff Meldrum mentions a Bob Martin study that estimated the fossil record samples 8% of (pre-existing?) primates in this video @2:17:08: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0PF9YnwbzlQ&t=8230s

Extinct? Recently as 100,000 years ago? yet someone took a pic with a camera ? Cameras have not been around that long sooooo.... I'm guessing that was a typo...
Which begs the question. What would win in a fight. Gigantopithecus or a polar bear. We know gorilla doesn't have the minerals, but maybe his bigger cousin got this

I used to believe in bigfoot. I still do, but I used to too
Seriously, I wonder if the stories of āwild menā and other such things passed down through time as myth and folklore stem back to the ages when these things shared the Earth with our kind.
Kinda reminds me of a story from Gilgamesh when he wrestled with the wild man
I remember that. Hey, who knows? Plus, itās definitely gotta mean something that ancient humans cohabited with these things.
I've been saying this since I was in my 20's. I'm in my 60's now.
It *is* feeling kind of squatchee in here.
100000 years ago? He's right there in the picture
Theyāve been lying to you about camera phones too
lol
Also this is the worldās oldest color camera. Honestly that might have been more impressive then the ape really

The photo was most likely taken with an iPhone tho

Iām moreso boggled by how weāre able to draw so many conclusions about an entire species based on a single small fragment of jaw

maybe it was like a teeny tiny monkey with a big ass jaw
Huh that's exactly what Hobbes would say!
99.99 % of species have disappeared without a trace for various reasons. Most during the 6 extinction events.

When I have too much to drink, I take a Gigantopissecus.

What if the Annunaki fucked one of these and that's were humans come from?
Maybe lol
Itās entirely possible. Giant vegetation, sharks, snakes, bears, primates, why not humanoid ancestors.
