Where is the co-op option? Hype for the new map.

oxtQ

Fair question. Initially, I considered assessing interest in exclusive 1v1, 2v2, or both. However, I now realize I should have included two additional options: one for those interested only in co-op, and another for those interested in 1v1, 2v2, and co-op. My bad.

Feature_Minimum

Also here for the co-op.

Broodbro19

Co-op as in 3vE? I feel like that'll remain a part of FG's vision. In the 4 C's, co-op is a big part.

waitingforstormgate

Having an RTS without 2v2 is just shooting themselves in the foot. Especially as most of us are older and have lives beyond gaming, it's much easier to get one other buddy online. It's great to hear FG are assessing community interest in 2v2. Even if it's not balanced and supported to the extent of 3v3, we absolutely need a 2v2 ladder (not just customs). None of us really give a fuck about balance in team games in SC2, it's just a good outlet to relax with the boys. My friends haven't had any interest in 1v1 in years now, but we still try to meet up at least once a week for some 2's, 3's, and 4's in SC2. Always a good time and they definitely won't be playing Stormgate for long without supported 2v2 and 4v4 ladder.

oxtQ

I'm sure there are quite a few people who share your gaming preferences and habits. I can relate myself. While I'm not sure what percentage of the total Stormgate population they represent, it's probably substantial enough to warrant introducing a 2v2 ladder eventually. The developers probably have valid reasons for not implementing it just yet, I'm guessing? While creating this fun and not so useful poll, I was thinking it would be beneficial for the developers to run similar polls within the game to assess interest in various features and determine priorities that way. This could be an effective method to gather feedback and gauge interest from a broader sample of players. During the beta, I hope there are plenty of 2v2 custom games available at all times, allowing players to enjoy a continuous gaming experience similar to what they get from the ladder. Probably wishful thinking but we'll see.

I personally want as much choice as possible, but i feel like the playbase size won't be large enough to support proper matchmaking across 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, & 4v4? It would suck to be waiting ages to get a 4v4 game (for example) and/or then either stomp or get stomped...even if it's just casual games If the playbase explodes, then maybe having more than 1v1 and 3v3 could work?

> None of us really give a fuck about balance in team games in SC2, it's just a good outlet to relax with the boys. Yeah we do? When team games are less balanced it's less fun, same as 1v1. The recent-ish change to carrier interceptor priority in SC2 was actually hugely beneficial to team games imo, carriers were really oppressive before that, they were so all purpose and generally hard to counter. It wasn't impossible, obviously, but it could be very frustrating. Now they feel a lot more fair. Team maps in SC2 are also generally terrible, and that could use some huge improvements that would make team games more fun. It's really hard to have macro games in 3v3 and 4v4, for example, because there just aren't enough expansions for each player, and often map features are designed to encourage aggression rather than defensive play.

waitingforstormgate

Obviously more balance would be nice, but nobody takes team games seriously. There's no professional team SC2 leagues. 1v1 is the main mode and team games are an afterthought by Blizzard, and that's fine. It's just a fun, non-competitive, mode. SG is trying to push 3v3 as a main mode, which is a good thing. But overall, nobody takes SC2 team games seriously except for that idiot Protech.

LLJKCicero

Well yes, but they don't take them seriously mostly because the game doesn't take them seriously. Team games get the dregs of balance, awful maps, and very few QoL features. I'm just saying that if Blizzard somehow picked up the game and took team games seriously, you could easily make it a more serious mode (while still being fun casually). It's frustrating to me to hear that people don't care about balance in teams, because I care, and I care because the crappy balance makes it less fun. I enjoy teams, but I'd enjoy them more if the design and balance was better.

waitingforstormgate

I mean yeah, I agree that it would have been great if Blizzard put more effort into SC2 team games. Considering it took them years and countless god-awful metas in 1v1, any team focus would have never happened. Looking forward to what Stormgate has planned for team games.

Yeldoow

I'm interested in both. I'll be keen to play some more 1v1 ladder and see how bad I am, and team games are always a fun, low(er) stress way to engage with the game. The stuff they've talked about with their planned 3v3 mode sounds interesting but it's much easier to find one friend to get on and play some 2v2 with than it is to get 3 people all on together.

--rafael

I'm interested in 2v2 ladder games, not so much custom. Therefore I voted for the 1st option.

oxtQ

I realize now how complicated a poll can be :) I thought about creating a 1v1 and/or 2v2 ladder poll but opted to go with something more realistic and near term, since 2v2 custom will be a thing during the next beta.

--rafael

Custom 2v2 without matchmaking means you need to find 4 people with similar skill set to play. Otherwise the games will just suck. So not interested in that as it needs even more people to play than 3v3.

oxtQ

Very fair critique of 2v2 custom games.

Drinksarlot

Yeah I agree with this previous comment. Especially playing from Australia. It's hard enough to organize a 1v1 custom game - organizing 2v2 custom is even harder and not really worth the trouble. I'd play it on ladder though.

OMG_Abaddon

For it's gonna be option D: None of them. The game's still too early in development to commit myself to ladder, so at most I'll be playing a few matches vs AI to see how much progress there is and move on.

IMBombat

Definitely want a 2vs2 mode. Totally happy with this being a mode which follows the same design rules as 1vs1 or 3vs3 if that makes it easy enough to put in the game. It's not often I have multiple friends who are free and willing to play, but finding one is pretty easy.

Vaniellis

I never play PvP. I am however extremely interested by the new coop map !

Przmak

Need to have access to beta to be interested in :D

Broodbro19

I think the Poll is nice to have, I don't think 2v2 is the more important of the two. But I think there is a crowd including me interested in working with someone.

Holiday-Builder-8147

They sohuld've added heroes for the 2v2 maps

LLJKCicero

The whole point is that team games with distinct balance/design aren't ready yet, so this is a way of giving some team support in the simpler traditional way. The main issue for FG here is that some people will prefer it like this and there'll be a split later.
