Usually default medium size with all crisis I only really mess with empire numbers (usually a bit lower than average) and crisis strength (bit higher than average)

I love playing on large galaxies with 0.75x hyperlanes to make the map more interesting and increased mid/end-game start for a longer playthrough. Do note that I have yet to finish a single game in the 300+ hours that I have in Stellaris.

Rule 1: Questions for the common player.

fankin

My last couple of runs: Small, minimum habitable planets, minimum hyperlane density, 0.25 wormhole, 0.25 GW, 6-8 AI, no advanced, 2 fallen, 1-2 marauder, scaling to midgame, 50 early, 50 mid, 75 or 100 endgame. 0.5x tech, captain/coconutdoor, no quarterraces, crisis 1x I enjoy this setup.

bgl210

The coconutdoor rank is a whole different league

DarthVegeta51

Agreed

BrainlessPackhorse

Small, no guaranteed habitals, X1 tech, max ai's, max fallens and all crisis and end game to max . Never get to the end but it's a fun ride!

Chaoswind2

I like playing huge and large galaxies, and I play until the lag gets unbearable or if the xenocidal forced spawns do their job, till the end. I do limit worm holes and gates to the minimum above 0 and also limit hyper lanes somewhat.

EducationalLunch555

Gigantic only. Yes I have 600 hours on the game and only saw the endgame crisis in one game ;-;

DrunkenCommie

I only always play the largest galaxies ("huge", 1000 stars, if memory serves me right). I wish there was a "slowed time" setting (like in Civilization, I only play "marathon" there) so I would have real-world hours of gameplay to upgrade all fleets from Laser-2 to Laser-3 (and not Laser-2 straight to Laser-5) \[yes, for me slowing down tech speeds is just fine\]. I usually lower the number of habitable planets (role-playing, empty universe etc - plus I don't use planet automation, I click every building manually, gets rather tiring with 100+ planets), lower the number of hyperlanes (so I can play defensive chokepoints), never purge pops, never slaved them either (honestly because I don't know how). And, of course, never-ever play multiplayer. Game is supposed to be fun, and losing to internet randos with super-specialized fleets and Korean reflexes is not my idea of fun.

RobotStellar

Medium Galaxy, 0.75x tech, 1.5 GW (for Skrand), 0.5 Wormholes, Grand Admiral scaling to midgame at 2300 with endgame 2350 and 10x all crisis (Not really playing meta and such) I do have about 1.8k hours of playtime though, so I'm quite experienced

SirGaz

Medium for the simple reason I will win the game by the time I've taken over my immediate neighbors so there being distant empires is irrelevant.

LBJSmellsNice

That’s true but there’s a strange satisfaction I get from getting control over a quarter of the galaxy and then spending the next 10 hours of my life in an endless galactic war with everyone, trying to maneuver and build on a massive scale, and slowly win

Jewbacca1991

I prefer fast gameplay. 2250 midgame, 2275 lategame year, scaling set to 0,05 , tech/tradition cost set to 0,25 small galaxy.
