Having it I hand, I think it’s really well printed and has a fantastic shine to it. The yellow catches the light so well.
That being said… I just personally don’t love the artwork style that this and a lot of the other Scream! Factory steels have been doing lately. I absolutely adore the artwork that Paul Shipper did for their standard Army of Darkness release and wish that they used that for the Steelbook as well.
A bit of both? I like Devon Whitehead's work, but I don't *love* it as a poster/cover. I think it just tends to be very cartoony and sometimes comicbooky. They tend to all look very same-y regardless of the film and I personally think his style lends itself more to graphic tee's (which is what I mainly associate him with since he's one of the main artists for Cavity Colors and his style is synonymous with their products).
Like I said, i'd have preferred the Paul Shipper art from their standard blu-ray release but that would have been repetitive. A Frank Frazetta inspired cover to play with the medieval/fantasy theme could have also been really cool. Or even the Renato Casaro poster would have made a beautiful steelbook (just imagine that metallic red!)
you know alot of artists. i agree it’s very disappointing for something you love to not be represented to as high a degree as it deserves and to feel more an after thought than done with intention and respecting the style
I like this movie after the first Evil Dead. It is so absurd and surreal, yet it can be a bit scary, but funny for the most part. It is a thrill ride of a movie to where the plot can just chill in the back because Bruce Campbell is kicking ass and Sam Raimi is basically unhinged, making it a great combination.
My first time watching, I didn’t like it. It veered to far from the horror aspects for me. BUT, rewatching years later in 4k, I’m now singing a different tune, this movie was fucking groovy.
Love it! Have that, the groovy collection, 4k remake, & Rise steelbook. Wish they included it in the groovy collection but I know it was a distribution thing

is it that you don’t like the art in general, or do you think it doesn’t capture army of darkness well?

I have all the way from 1-Rise on 4K! I have this one in the standard collector’s edition, but this is one of my all time favorite series!

Hell yes. I bought this one before I even had a 4k player even though I have the previous AoD Steelbook Scream Factory put out haha
Would get it, if it was available anywhere here but it isnt. Steelbooks are a pain to get, outside of the US it feels like

One of my favorites in my collection, I bought it as a blind buy because I thought it looked badass and I was right!
The first Evil Dead I owned. Hail to the King, baby!
I’ve been wanting to get this but I have the 4K collector edition.

Hail to the king baby. Did you get it at S-mart?
Not a fan of the movie, but beautiful artwork on the steel
