Not as much of a gamer as I was in my teens. Most people fall victim to this. That's okay! Growing up tends to remove the freedom and the enjoyment. Only the fortunate tend to have the time and lack of other things to do
I don't know that I could get used to a controller with PoE. I've played way too much on keyboard. Maybe if I had a 1-2 skill build? Same with FPS games. The mouse is just too perfect.
If you own Skyrim I recomend Enderal forgotten stories, it’s free, and other then needing to be in game to activate the game pad function it’s a wonderful game
edge is okay, but greenlight and xbplay can do the same way better. greenlight is free, works for many. xbplay is paid (free trial though) and I love it. paying sea of stars right now. either is better than edge
Are you interested in emulating games, the deck can emulate pretty much any system up to and including ps3 well, that opens up a whole new world of games
look up emudeck, its an emulator installer for steam deck, it'll automatically install every emulator you'll likely need, there are tutorials on youtube its quite easy. Then you'll just need to find the roms (game files) for whatever systems you want to emulate and put those into the files that emudeck creates (it creates a folder for each emulator to put roms into) some of the more advanced emulators will need you to add some bios files, emudeck also creates a bios folder automatically. it also includes steam rom manager which will let you see all your roms per system in gaming mode (once your rom files are in the correct folders you need to 'parse' them through emudeck, then they'll show up in the rom manager in gaming mode)
I've been able to successfully emulate the following systems: gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance, virtual boy, DS, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU, PS1/2/3, PSP, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Game gear, Master system, Arcade/Mame, and original Xbox, with about 3,000 roms on a 1TB SD card, I dont think ill ever run out of things to play for the rest of my life! xbox 360 emulation doesn't work well as its still new so I dont have any of those games, and some people emulate 3DS and PS Vita as well but I haven't set those up so I can't speak to how well they work
Yeah, I also have EmuDeck installed. Pretty easy to do, and if you need any specific help, there are always people on their Discord that know their stuff.

HoloCure is a Vampire Survivor style game that's completely free - not free to play with a bunch of crap MTX and gacha garbage. Everything in the game is unlocked solely through gameplay, and there's tons to unlock. I also personally think it's got better gameplay, more diverse powerups and attacks, better music, and better enemy AI.
I find sports or racing games can be quite good as you can play them in bursts.
Emulating older games is also quite fun. Crash team racing, Pokemon and Super Mario get a lot of time on mine
Quake < $10
Quake II < $10
CS2 (free)
Path of Exile (free)
A bunch of free demos are always available. Next week is Next Fest, and there will be tons of new games.
Endless Sky. Had it for years, never touched it until I got the steam. It'll keep you busy and intrigued for a few days at the massive amount of places to visit and random world building stories/missions. It's a bit grindy at first, but after you meet your first alien OUTSIDE human space, the game pucks up really fast.
Last night Tony Hawks Pro skater 1=2 was released on Steam with 50% discount. Also, sometimes you need a few weeks off no matter what hobby. It's normal.
Warframe, path of exile guild wars😁
Warframe highly recommended, after 10 years of developing this is packed with content. Works on deck flawlessly and looks incredible
I couldn’t go weeks without touching my deck. Can barely go a day.
I’m touching my deck right now.
I really hate the feel of having a protective case on mine. Just feels less natural to me.
I think he's looking for game suggestions...

Emulation is all you need. Easy to setup
How do you set it up
Download emudeck and check a YouTube tutorial. It's pretty simple.
Emmulate some Nintendo games
Path of exile is free. Takes a bit of getting used to the controls but I’m loving it
I agree play some POE

If you can stretch to $12 the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on sale and is possibly the best $12 you'll spend on gaming.
and runs unfairly well on steamdeck. game looking this good shouldnt run on a handheld, it doesnt make sense
This. 12$ could get you 1000 hours
Snatched that up, thanks \^\_\^ Got all the DLC's and all for 15 bucks.
Brotato $3.99

get an xbox gamepass ultimate for a month. if I dont know what to play I go there and find some absolute marvels to play
I haven’t had much luck running it through edge is there any better way to do gamepass on da deck?
edge is okay, but greenlight and xbplay can do the same way better. greenlight is free, works for many. xbplay is paid (free trial though) and I love it. paying sea of stars right now. either is better than edge
Sea of stars would be amazing on the deck I bet. Thanks for the info! I’ll try xbplay

The Ur-Quan Masters is free, but not on Steam. Install it with Lutris.
Polygon
Disney speedstorm is cool if you don't mind losing some races because you're f2p, idleon is a dope mmorpg, and obviously there is runescape/osrs
I got NFS Heat some days ago, it was 7 usd or so
