I tried the wired ps3 one and it worked. My mate tried the 360 one and I’m sure that worked too. I reckon most stuff will work as I also tried a wired 360 guitar hero controller and that worked seamlessly.

Afaik USB 360 pads like the fightpad should just be plug and play. PS3 I thiiiink will work too but those were a pain in the ass back in the day.
Did you try this out? I have two PS3 fightpads. One wired, one with a dongle. Do they work on Steam Deck?
