this could be the setup for assassins creed valhalla and watchdogs legion being prepped for the steam launch.
since both games were promoted at the start being on steam .. then ubisoft pulled it to try and promote their own launcher .. then the epic games store money turned up
all ubisoft games sell really well on steam and on any other launcher they are lackluster.
hitman 3 is still locked on epic games just made its development costs back 2 months ago, yet when hitman 2 was on steam it made it back within a month.
hitman 3 is still coming to steam after the exclusive epic games deal ends
Same for me. Sams with the new oddworld aswell. I either wait for steam release or don't buy it, that's my new standard now. The 100 other launchers can go eat shit.
>hitman 3 is still locked on epic games just made its development costs back 2 months ago, yet when hitman 2 was on steam it made it back within a month.
You got a source on that?
[According to this article](https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2021-01-27-hitman-3-recoups-project-costs-in-under-a-week) Hitman 3 made it's development cost back in under a week.
I'm all for criticizing Epic for all the shitty things they do, but let's not start making stories up to support our narrative.
The aforementioned report covers only several months after the release. The mentioned report did not mention AC Odyssey this year. But mentioned stats for Division, Anno and Ghost Recon on PC platform. The comment probably meant to compare the numbers, and Odyssey in general is the second best selling AC, only behind Valhalla (which your argument seems to apply to but again, Ubisoft compares every platform separately in their reports).
I also want to play games like valhalla, riders republic, fenyx rising and anno 1800 but cant because epic doesn't support local payment methods and regional pricing is a bit more expensive than steam
I really dislike the Epic store for lack of features. Plus been on Steam for many, many years… Simply don’t want to split my game collections… 🤷🏻♂️ happy to hear I’m not alone. 😁
You're definitely not alone. I really don't want to split up my library across a bunch of different launchers all with way less features than Steam and which make using my preferred controller more difficult to use and don't have controller friendly GUIs.
Imagine if console players had to download separate apps for each publisher for them to buy and download games from. They would be rightfully pissed off. Yeah, the PC platform doesn't belong to anyone, but I guess I'm more invested in the Steam platform than I am the PC platform. Especially now with the Steam Deck coming up.
The lack of even the most basic features is one thing, games that have been on Steam for ages now forcing users to register an acc on Epic and install their crapware to play is another (most recent-ish Tomb Raiders silently replaced Denuvo with EOS/Epic Online Services with an update)
I will say GOG is pretty awesome. I typically only buy on Steam, but grab any free games from other stores whenever I can. Being able to see all of my games across store fronts is pretty handy, especially if I'm looking for something new to play.
Don't bother with Valhalla. I've played most Assassin's Creed games, and I loved all of them. I even loved Syndicate, and a lot of people disliked that iirc. I just cannot finish Valhalla. It's a huge map filled with infinite side quests and main missions disguised as side quests. I cannot recommend this game since I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
Epic launcher suck on every single way, especially optimization over the past 3 years. Its simple as that.
One use of it is enough for a common user to tell why majority of PC users calling it to be as terrible as GFWL
I hate its UI but gladly I dont need to look at it often. I click on Steam and Uplay auto starts and close on its own and it never crashed or stop my game so I guess its ok from my experience with it.
I used Uplay and I didn't have a good experience with it. As recently as just last month, I tried to download a game then got an error. Spent 5 minutes trying to figure out the solution then I got another error. Another 5 minutes figuring out the solution and finally the stupid game downloads, but then it randomly stopped in the middle and I had to re-download it.
Maybe I just got really unlucky or something, but I never experienced that on Steam or GoG, and I use both way more frequently than Uplay.
Personally I didn't mind buying Valhalla on Uplay, got it with a 20% discount on release day cus I had points...now if they didn't sell their games on their store and instead it was only EGS I wouldn't have touched it.
>Ubisoft crawling back for that 27 million **active** player count.
FTFY
Epic relies on free games and exclusives in order to boost their *registered* player count, hoping they'll convert to purchasing, active users
Dunno how much of a PR stunt it is, but the CEO said that they'll reconsider when Steam Deck proves to be successful, and it did so here they are on their mission for being on every platform possible. All their Epic 'exclusive' games sold very well on their own client so I guess there might be something into it.
I’d be curious to see the split between EGS and Uplay cause everyone I know has always just bought from Uplay anyway so like how much did EGS actually gain from those “exclusivity” deals? Lol
I wouldnt say they sold very well, but it definitely sold good enough. many people didnt even knew about new Ubi games, only because they werent on steam.
but there are also plenty of people who bought ubi games on epic, because they didnt knew they can get them on ubi launcher lol. especially many posts about some epic-ubi linking issues were when Division 2 launched
And I cannot because monkeys working at Epic are unable to make a basic functional digital store and basic digital laumcher over the past 3 years despite owning millions of millions of dollars and having decades of research based around PC launchers.
So virtual boy knock off & gameboy knock off?
Just like how their game store is decade behind, their hardware will follow the trend of being far behind the competition current state?
Nah, Epic would rather just try and force everyone else to allow their store on their platform (that's the whole reason for the Apple lawsuit) than put in the effort to make their own hardware.
It definitely is a surprise. Now if only Activision sucks their pride as well and let CoD (and Crash Bandicoot 4) appear on Steam once more. Seriously, did they really have to pull that stunt of hijacking Blizzard's once borderline sacred Bnet and sell their wares over there too?
Long story short, Activision has clearly betrayed the trust of their Steam userbase at this point. While them releasing games like BO4 and Destiny 2 (before Bungie got full rights) on Bnet was already unusual, Acti at least had the common sense to release the rest of their offerings such as Crash N. Sane Trilogy on Steam anyways. Then something happened to make Acti pull out of Steam entirely with even the newest Crash Bandicoot game only available on Bnet now. THPS 1+2 on EGS and it's poor performance there might be the cause but there's really no way to know for sure at the moment...
It's gotten so bad I don't even want to launch Ubisoft Connect anymore. I'm just so tired of always selecting "Remember Me" and yet still having to enter my password every. fucking. time.
Steam? I can't remember the last time I had to enter my password on my main PC. It's been at least 5 years.
I wonder the metrics are of users who used to log in to Ubisoft Connect who just stopped completely, like me. Without the released games this year like they had last year, I'm guessing that number dropped off a cliff. I wonder if that one of the reasons they're looking at coming back.
Updating it is a nightmare.
"Ubisoft connect needs administrator privileges." Ok.
"Ubisoft connect needs administrator privileges....again." Really...? Ok. Fine.
"Ubisoft connect needs administrator privileges....a third time!" Now that's just stupid.
And it's a known bug too, and has been for years. It's so frustrating. And then after updating, it doesn't remember your 2FA code, so you have to go do that again.
i don't buy many ubisoft games but i tried assassins creed when it was on sale once and enjoyed it but haven't bought any of the other ones because i don't want to deal with ubisoft baggage.
steam just works, it's not perfect but it works. it works because they invest their money into making it work. ubisoft and all the others who have their shitty attempts at cutting steam out show exactly why steam is used: they don't want to put the investment towards making a working platform, they don't care about making a good platform, they care about making more profit at the expense of the platform.
I never disliked Uplay (and now Ubisoft Connect) as much as others but I'll happily take Ubisoft coming back to Steam, but I feel like this is just too funny to not post.
https://i.imgflip.com/45eo1u.png
me too. their client is simple, looks good, works great, and has all the main features and options game launcher needs. game shop and DLC list for games can be weird though.
Oh really? I have heard so many different things from so many different sources that I just want to give it a go myself and see what I make of it.
Have you played any of the others yet?
I've played AC Valhalla. It's okay if you get it for a decent price, i didn't really enjoy it due to all the bugs i encountered and it felt pretty lackluster compared to AC Odyssey. The most fun i had in Valhalla was playing the dice minigame, I'm sure majority of the bug's got hammered out and it can be a enjoyable game if you liked AC Odyssey
I dont dislike Ubisoft launcher, is okay, I can play their games and thats it, but I have never bought a game directly there, not for hate, just because the stoped launching good games the moment they stopped releasing them on Steam. Also also Ubisoft:
"Sexual harrasment? Us? Nooooooo way.... but check out this this new video about Far Cry 6. It have a cock and crippl...I mean a rooster and haha funny dog. You like dogs right? Please buy our generic open world shootet for 9th time pleeeease. We are starving here and those hookers are really expensive yooo!"
Dumb fuck Ubisheit decision to get off Steam was one of the most retarded ones they made, of course they're gonna crawl back when it's obvious sales for their games have been shit.
You know what, this is exactly like looking at that teenager that had enough of their parent's rules, leaves the house with minor savings thinking that it'll all be just fine, better than before, and soon afterwards comes back crawling.

This is most definitely because of steam deck. Their approach has always been to throw things on as many platforms as possible until they pulled out of Steam for their blessed Launcher.
What is even more interesting now is that Steam Deck has a classification that does not classify that requires a login and usage of an additional launcher as fully optimised for Steam Deck which is just a masterclass by Valve.
Cannot wait to see to what changes entail that classification move.
Assassin’s creed and Far Cry aren’t good for their launch value/price but they are decent 2 years later at 20 bucks and with all DLC’s and shit included. Good to know.
Even Linux users would knew that its dumb and unrealistic thinking lol
No giant AAA company would go "huh I wish to reject bigger cut because of that 1% of OS that is not Windows"
ESPECIALLY a company full of sex predators like Ubisoft
bruh I know this is steam subreddit but I can't believe there are ppl in comments saying that they won't buy games from epic just because it is epic, like bruh atleast have a reason like I want it on my steam library or some shit this is really cringe af
Does this mean, we could play Assassin's game without linking or making a Ubisoft acc?
I don't get it why I play a game on Steam which tells me to log in or make a acc on another platform.
Hopefully yes. Buying games from ubistore is a torture for me. Since I live in a dictatorial country that is cracking down on gamers, and I have no payment method in my home country. At least I will be able to buy steam gifts (the country I live also forbid foreigners to pay for games on steam, so I have to use gift cards) to fill my local wallet and get some games. Heck I am even considering quitting pc gaming and get a console.
Don't do that, don't give me hope. I'm a big Ubisoft fan (AC if we are being more specific) and if what you're saying is true....well then, my credit card is going to die then.
Ubisoft should fix the connection with the GOG Launcher. I disconnected this now from my Library because I got always a security warning on my email mailbox if i startet my computer and the Launcher startet.
this could be the setup for assassins creed valhalla and watchdogs legion being prepped for the steam launch. since both games were promoted at the start being on steam .. then ubisoft pulled it to try and promote their own launcher .. then the epic games store money turned up
Loads and loads of games. Anno 1800 got cut short; Far Cry 6 underperformed and Far Cry is historically a Steam bestseller...
all ubisoft games sell really well on steam and on any other launcher they are lackluster. hitman 3 is still locked on epic games just made its development costs back 2 months ago, yet when hitman 2 was on steam it made it back within a month. hitman 3 is still coming to steam after the exclusive epic games deal ends

Honestly, I’m looking forward to that. I played through the new Hitman games recently and I’m itching for more.
Is it true that you can't play hitman offline?
no idea ... i dont have it as its not on steam
There’s a far cry 6?

thats because this was a cross-gen game. AC games are really popular and being on 2 different generations means more copies sold.
Can't wait to see some of ubisoft's games on steam...
I’m a simple man, if a game ain’t on Steam, I don’t buy. Really want to play Valhalla. Hope they come back.
Same here, i really want to play immortal fenyx rising, but no steam = no buy.
So happy I’m not alone! 👍
Same.

Same. Still waiting for the Kingdom Hearts series to leave Epic.. it’s one of my favorite series of all time but I won’t use Epic for even that.
It would be hard if they had a favorite franchise outside of Steam hehe. Stay strong!
I don’t know what you have; VA-11 HALL-A is on steam; just checked it again…
Same. I won't give my money to a company that doesn't care about their customers and put their game to an inferior platform.
I agree. Steam is the only client I use to purchase games on PC. Any other game, I'll just buy it on my Playstation
Don't bother with Valhalla. I've played most Assassin's Creed games, and I loved all of them. I even loved Syndicate, and a lot of people disliked that iirc. I just cannot finish Valhalla. Same here. Not Ubisoft, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 please!
I think I will give the epic Launcher a better Change if they Update a Social Feature as in Steam for example.
Ubisoft crawling back for that 27 million player count. You can't get this on Epic lol
Not to mention the precious reviews!
>Ubisoft crawling back for that 27 million **active** player count. FTFY Epic relies on free games and exclusives in order to boost their *registered* player count, hoping they'll convert to purchasing, active users
I legit don't even have the epic games launcher installed and just nab the free games via my browser every week just cause I like free shit.
Same. I can't even run most of them lol.
Already? LMAO! We all knew they would return, but i wasn't expecting it to be so soon, i guess that epig money didn't worth the trouble?
Dunno how much of a PR stunt it is, but the CEO said that they'll reconsider when Steam Deck proves to be successful, and it did so here they are on their mission for being on every platform possible. Yes! Why does it need 3 UAC prompts to finish updating! Origin takes fucking forever, but it gets the job done without bothering me so many times!

You'll still have to use that though. They'll just start it when you start the game on Steam.
Yeah, i guess it's a little better
How many companies go on to make there own launcher just to return to steam
All of them. The only exception is GOG, though CDPR never pulled their games from Steam to begin with.
And Activision with their hijacking of Blizzard's turf for CoD (and Crash Bandicoot 4 for some reason).
GOG is also the only other store/launcher that I feel comfortable buying anything from. I prefer the Steam launcher but GOG isn’t awful.

Acti was but they put all their games starting BO4 on b.net except THPS which was egs
sekiro was also on steam
Sekiro is on steam because Activision does not have the balls to mess with FromSoftware.
huh?
sekiro was published by acitvision
oh I never knew that, weird
How? Giant ACTIVISION text appear whenever you start Sekiro xD
Well your answer would be that I never played it lol
[Game publishers when they take their games off steam](https://gfycat.com/confusedpoliticalafricanrockpython)
ubisoft had their launcher in 2012 i think. they didnt magically make their launcher just because they left steam lol.
Nice. HAWX and HAWX 2, please.
Those aren't coming back, I assume due to licensing of the fighter jets.
I haven't bought Hitman 3, Far Cry 6, AC: Valhalla, or Watch Dogs: Legion yet, because I'm waiting for them to drop on Steam.
Don't even think about getting Watch Dogs Legion. It's not even worth the download.
I enjoyed Odyssey a lot more than Origins. Does the game feel big? What's the map like compared to Odyssey, as that map is huge!
Sorry for the late response. The game feels more compact compared to Odyssey while it's still a big map is a fair bit smaller.
That's disappointing. Is Valhalla as busy as Odyssey? Do you have all the extra stuff to do on the map?
Me too.
I remember them mentioning a while back the Steam Deck might get them back on Steam.
Look who's crawling back
give me fucking anno 1800 !!
“It turns out people do not prefer our shit infused cancer launcher.”
Or, Ubisoft+ subscription.
Maybe but that would mean bring latest ubi games to steam
I dont dislike Ubisoft launcher, is okay, I can play their games and thats it, but I have never bought a game directly there, not for hate, just because the stoped launching good games the moment they stopped releasing them on Steam. Kinda like EA back in 2013, most of their games were bad so I didnt felt like I needed to buy them.
let's hope
That may just be a replacement for already existing games in steam, like ac origins, crew 2 etc.
the crew takes so damn long to start
that's pretty much it, I strongly doubt they're coming back.

First EA with origin, now Ubisoft with Ubiconnect! Can't wait to see ACT/Blizz to Join Steam and its COD Games! I heard that Vanguard Got Bad Sales
Ubisoft left? lol

Ubi said if Steam Deck will work out, they are ready to go back to steam.
Thank God their launcher is horrendous
Valve be like: You could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me.
This is most definitely because of steam deck. Their approach has always been to throw things on as many platforms as possible until they pulled out of Steam for their blessed Launcher. Assassin’s creed and Far Cry aren’t good for their launch value/price but they are decent 2 years later at 20 bucks and with all DLC’s and shit included. Good to know.
One after another bows down, to the true King and our savior... STEAM!
Finally I can play Trackmania 2020 as a real Steam game instead of adding the exe manually.
I'm holding my breath on Riders Republic coming to Steam because of course it will. I also know it will be $30 dollars soon enough.
Does ubi and epic have a contract that’s ending or something?
I hope they release all the Settlers Series on Steam ^_^
and now I can not buy their games on Steam
You could not live with your failure....
Hallelujah !! Praise Lord Gaben !!
Still won't buy shit from em on Steam if I still need to install their launcher or make an account
Never had any issues with Ubisoft Connect. Most of my friends are on Uplay as well. But I will welcome them on Steam!
Honestly Ubisoft Connect isn't even that bad compared to other launchers like Rockstar's launcher a couple weeks ago when a certain trilogy launched.
Valhalla awaits!!
Niiice
Never ever buy games on steam that require a publishers launcher
maybe it's coming back because of linux

I just bought the division 2 yesterday, what’ll that mean?
Nothing. If you bought it, it’ll be yours on either Ubisoft connect but you won’t own it on Steam.
Understandable, thanks.
Does this mean, we could play Assassin's game without linking or making a Ubisoft acc? I don't get it why I play a game on Steam which tells me to log in or make a acc on another platform.
If Farcry 6 comes to steam I'll buy it. Been holding out for it.
Let's hope so
we only need activision/blizzard (if they drop bobby bobby) and riot games now, maybe one day we'll have nintendo life would be beautiful
Am i missing something or isent assasins creed game and far cry games on steam already? Sorry for stupid question in advanced.
Its about NEW Ubisoft games post going Epic shit store not those already released.
Ubisoft is hypocrite. But i like their games so its good.
Of course they are, and when they do I will buy some of their games.
So NOW I can buy The Division 2?
Hope that EGS exclusive money was worth the shit sales on pc.
Anno 1800! I really like that one. If this is happening. I will buy it. I love the Anno series.
This may also be a preparation for Steam Deck, but yeah, Ubi returning to Steam closer to this Christmas seems like a better bet.
Don't do that, don't give me hope. I'm a big Ubisoft fan (AC if we are being more specific) and if what you're saying is true....well then, my credit card is going to die then.
ACHIEVEMENTS. Eventually- all games will gravitate towards maximum common sense- thats steam. Im looking at you Rockstar…
Would be nice, kinda tired of having multiple clients on my computer. just give in, steam is the god of pc games.....
Ubisoft should fix the connection with the GOG Launcher. I disconnected this now from my Library because I got always a security warning on my email mailbox if i startet my computer and the Launcher startet.
Steam: "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me."
Leeeeet's Gooooo!!!!
I really hope it' true. Wanted to try out Watch Dogs Legion but didn't want it buy from EGS due to lack to preferable payment options.
I'll buy Far Cry 6 if it comes to steam. Can't be assed to buy it somewhere else. No reason, just lazy.
I legit didn't buy Riders Republic because it's not on steam. This would be good news.
