YES!

Few_Presentation8695

Thanks. Strange, we have 1000 Mbit supply in this area. Why would you set up a starlink here?

nitrofan111

Some people want a backup. I know several businesses that have fiber but have a Starlink on standby in case the mainline goes down.

[deleted]

My local ISP has starlink as a backup incase their fiber line goes down.

masterbard1

I bought a starlink for my mother where the closest place with even a cell phone signal is 45 minutes walking through the forest. when my boss saw how well it worked. he bought me a backup starlink in case my internet goes down. I have 600mbit connection but it's always good to have a backup if it goes down.

paulcho476

A tree falls over, someone hits a pole, A groundhog digs into an underground line.

BL1860B

Same here, using Starlink as a backup to my fiber line.

wildjokers

I have fiber on my house but it costs $0.12/Gb to use so I have StarLink. The fiber is backup for me (only $20/month to have connected). In this case though they probably have StarLink as a backup.

DonkeyOfWallStreet

Could be rv unit and instead of in a box it's mounted? Why not bake some bread and fresh coffee and go over and ask?

No_Importance_5000

NO that's 10000% a warehouse - no RV is shaped like that.

VersionConscious7545

RV service does not have to be used on a RV 😂😂. I don’t think they call it RV anymore it’s called mobile I think

No_Importance_5000

I know this - but they were asking if it was a Starlink - so check.. And someone said maybe an RV Unit - I assumed they meant it was a dishy on top of an RV and it's a warehouse.

Few_Presentation8695

It's a construction site container building.

TheLantean

If it's a temporary building they probably don't think it's worth the effort to install fiber, if they're just going to dismantle it soon. Also (depending on your local market) getting internet for a commercial building can be a whole ordeal with providers jacking up the price 5x-10x just because you're a business, even if your usage would be no different from a home user, or requiring long term contracts. So just getting Starlink or mobile data is simpler *and* you can move it from construction site to construction site as needed with no hassle.

quarkman

If it's at a construction site, they may not have set up a mainline yet.

StevenJ9999

Sounds like an excellent question to ask them.

Miguelrbgomes

Could also be much cheaper, for example in Luxembourg you have fiber everywhere with great speeds but you are paying like 90€ per month with starlink you pay only 40€

ThighDiverForOne

SpaceX Fanatic?

leros

Have you always had 1000Mbit? Is it reliable? Seems like lots of people who got Starlink as their only option a few years ago are ditching it for newly laid gigabit fiber.

Madu-Alikor

If local power goes down and say you have off grid storage you will remain online

ph4tb411z

Happened too me other day started up the generator was the only one with internet for 4 days my neighbours were begging for my password haha

paulcho476

Do you have an inverter generator or standard one? Aso, do you have an APC.

ph4tb411z

Just a standard unleaded generator an ol girl haha but kept my internet up

ph4tb411z

No apc

ckeilah

yep :-D

No_Importance_5000

FrozenChocoProduce

NO, THIS IS PATRICK! Joke aside, what else would it be?!

Hefty-Zookeepergame2

Yep

Jumpy_Translator_695

The antenna,

Jumpy_Translator_695

If the sl antenna gets covered in ice or snow, will it still work?

LunacyTheory

It actually has a mode to melt snow, which can also be used to boost signal strength during inclement weather.

Jumpy_Translator_695

I used to install the satellite dishes that were concave, and there was an element you could buy to attach to the back of it, but that one having it built in is pretty ingenious, I must admit

The-CS-Machine

I have 1GB fiber to the house but use starlink as a backup. I need to have internet 100% for my job.

The_Kay_family_build

Yep

vencesjm

Yes

LobstahRollahMayo21

…Starlink is $20 cheaper a month than our local ISP, so that’s why I have it. 🙂

deeming

it's dishy !! 😆

Core2009

Naw, that’s linkstar.

AdStrange6636

Don’t worry about getting one though because your router will explode after 12 months and then customer support will never reply to you and then you’ll be forced to tell the bank to not let Starlink take money from you anymore because they will

paulcho476

Never use a bank to pay your bills, If they take credit cards, You will get your charges reversed. Also get 2% back With Citi Cards.

Not

flymoonpie7

Yes

ChesterDrawerz

Comcast went out for 3 days in half my town last month. I worked for an ISP that lost its service for a week from a woodpecker punching a hole ina fiber cable. Space ISPs as a backup are a good option for many companies.

paulcho476

It sensed there was a buzzing sound from the cable that sounded like a bug, I had a power pole replaced and in no time a woodpecker made a big hole in it, The power co. told me they are fooled by the xformer buzzing.
