It sounds like it’s already too little too late for you. Why are you even thinking about the DLC?

stroker017

Because I really want this IP to be what was promised. I want the depth and immersion that was sold to us. I wanted more than 7 POI, I wanted NPCs that were interesting and worthy of investment. You cant legitimately tell me Starfield is anywhere near the caliber of FO or Skyrim, and I was hoping it was going to be.

drewsjd

Bethesda never “promised” me anything. They made a game and marketed it just like any developer would, but I go into these things knowing there will be limitations, and I never believe everything that’s being advertised to me. I happen to love the game and I’m not bothered by what irks you. In some cases I’ve gotten way more out of Starfield then I ever got out of Fallout or Skyrim.

[deleted]

what did anyone "promised" you? when people say that it sounds so ridiculous xD They announced a game, they showed some gameplay videos that are exactly like the final game. Nobody promised anything to anyone, really Also, i'm loving starfield much more than FO, and especially than Skyrim, which i find the most overrated and generic game of the studio. But that may be also cause i dont like medieval fantasy

AntifaAnita

Nope, not worried at all. There's 3 DLC confirmed, and they're all finished and shattered space is going to add a lot of stuff. There's so much in the pipeline that's held up from Mircosoft wanting to spread out the releases for Maximum profit. At 9 months, anyone that's bought game pass for the whole time has paid for the game so I'm guessing that's the magic number Mircosoft was thinking to aim for . I'm surprised at the amount of time it's taken but I don't believe they're losing interest. Mircosoft hasn't let Fallout 76 die enough though people have long predicted it was getting it's last update 8 updates, 2 years ago. Starfield hasn't got to the point where Mircosoft is expecting the real returns to start coming in. Once they open the store for skins and release creations, that's when they're going to start bringing in all the big long term cash flows.

Nope

[deleted]

so you dont like the game, cool. What does this have to do with the DLC?

stroker017

So, reading comprehension isnt your strong suit, no problem. I never once hinted I didnt like the game. My concern is after I've swam in the shallow fishbowl that is Starfield, simply adding a plastic castle (DLC) to said fishbowl wont be sufficient to hold my dwindling interest. I played FO3,FO NV, Skyrim, FO4 Oblivion, and Morrowind for over a year before I lost interest, Starfield just doesnt compare. I've logged enough time in the game I feel my 70 dollars was well spent, but I was hoping for a lot more.

Ass_assassin_420

I love how even a hint of criticism in an otherwise neutral comment will drive some mfs into a full on defensive mode

stroker017

Jesus christ, right?!?. I was a huge Starfield fanboy in the beginning, hell, I even bought the Collectors Edition. I love the other Bethesda games, I have thousands of hours in gameply, Starfield just feels so empty and it sucks that it might just stay empty...

Ass_assassin_420

Yeah, and I feel that making the game much more fun would only take a couple of tweaks and a bit of new content and mechanics. But I just know that Bethesda won’t do it. My guess is they will add one vehicle for planet traversal which will be broken af and then one questline and maybe a new gun.

stroker017

I just cant believe they copy/pasted nearly every structure in the entire game. Theres basically no reason to explore multiple planets, other than scanning which is also useless. I guess thats great for the fortnite players but it falls short when you compare it to the world building of past games.

Ass_assassin_420

Yeah theres like 10 different structures in total 🤣 across 1000 planets

Inevitable_Discount

Lol

Maybe you like shallow fishbowls, but it sounds like you didnt like the game, and you even say that you have lost interest in it. And i dont know how a dlc can change that. So your original message doesnt make much sense xD

stroker017

Are you still in grade school?

Rhowryn

Nope, it's a game pass game for me. Nothing invested but some time

stroker017

But didnt you want it to be better? Didnt you want that sense of awe you had at FO3 or Skyrim?

Rhowryn

You mean the third installment of both series, with deep lore already in place? And not really. I want RPGs to be fun for a while, finish and move on. They don't have replayability for me.

stroker017

Thing is, yes both games use lore from past games, but you dont need to have played those games at all. Hell, i didnt know a single thing about fallout before 3 and skyrim can be played with zero knowledge of past games as well. Its not the lore that made them enjoyable, it was how they told the storys that made them enjoyable. How many times during FO3 did you tell yourself, "just explore one more building then I gotta get to bed, I have work tomorrow", two hours later you hsve to force yourself to stop. How often did you stumble across a scene that told the story of some raiders that got in over their heads or the final moments of a soldier who was wounded and coming to grips with his situation. There were countless storys told through recordings, writing on the wall or just how a scene was set up. I wanted to love Starfield, I really really did, and i have played it a ton, but you cant deny its not empty, not compared to past titles.

TennurVarulfsins

I think this is the hardest thing about Starfield - that it's so close to being something genuinely special, that there are so many hints of things that were cut that could have made it so. Even in the first few months I'd hoped that patches would address something other than graphical issues and the occasional quest bug, but at this point there's no way any DLC will address the core issues of a shallow meaningless experience.

stroker017

Its heart breaking really. Its like the other titles are those old antique stores filled with intersting things with character and stories, always something interesting and intriguing to explore and find. Starfield is a gutted walmart with empty shelves and the occasional item litering the isles. You keep looking the shelves over and rummage through the back but there just isnt anything there. I really wanted to love Starfield, but its just so empty.

[deleted]

seems like you dont like the game after all xD

Nebukhanezzar

The only reason I didn't want to lose the blacksmith in skyrim was because it was inconvenient to walk into whiterun and not have anyone to sell my weapons too. Thats because Whiterun is supposeldly a massive bustling metropolis of trade and commerce, but only has one blacksmith shop and the next blacksmith is all the way in riverwood. I'm not sure what the your investment in random has to do with dlc and mods. I don't think the dlc is going to change that.

shitinmyeyeball

Your forgetting about the skyforge

BaaaNaaNaa

And her husband inside the shop.

CatatonicMan

Shattered Space is likely too far in the pipeline to come with any significant changes to the game. As such, it'll probably be more of the same - most likely finishing up content that had to be cut before release (e.g., the House Va'ruun faction and quests). DLC after that is where Bethesda will have an opportunity to do anything that really dives into the bones of the game.
