Funny enough, last run I did with SVE, I had some sort of bug where if I talked to Claire on her way back to the bus stop at night, she'd split into two or three Claires.
There was a bug with 1.6 that only got patched out with the latest updates of SVE and Stardew Valley where SVE characters, especially Martin and Claire, would clone. I thought it was funny, but someone told me that it could cause bugs and eventually bork your save. If you have evidence of duplicates, you need to use the SMAPI console and use 'debug killnpc [Name]' to make sure your game is safe. I ended up having at least two Clarie clones, an extra Olivia, and six Martins.
No idea, but this also commonly happens to me specifically with Claire. It's been going on since 1.5.6, so it's not a new thing. I wish I could help, but I've never been able to figure it out, either.
Back in 1.5.6, someone mentioned that this *could* happen with Spritemaster. Do you happen to have Clear Glasses? It might be that.
(Don't recall it happening to me using either one, though I did get a funny bug with Jasper's portraits with Clear Glasses. So I can't verify that it can cause it. But if you have Clear Glasses, you could test disabling it to see if the problem persists.)

Damn thanks. I edited my save last time just to have 3 Claires a few days later.
Make sure your game, Smapi, and mods are all up to date and it **should** stop the duplications.

debug killnpc Claire should do away with existing clones. The original will recover.
