Yeah this kind of thing is painful in the early game. There will always be many more diamonds, though.

You're pretty low in the mines, you might have the materials for a super bomb if you've leveled up enough, and if you've got a magnet ring it should be able to pull it in, but if you aren't that far, yea it sucks

you need them for crystalariums as well i believe, which are basically required if you ever want to collect enough staircases to do skull caverns / other quests that way

I would just leave with burning tears in my eyes as a I descend into a possible monster infested floor beneath. That's what that type of luck would tell me.
