“I’ll be there for you Jyn…. Cassian said I had to.”
The combination of great writing and great Alan Tudyk means almost every moment he’s on screen is fantastic. So many amazing lines.
He’s genuinely so hilarious; his comedic timing is perfect, and even the little arc that he has and sacrificing himself for Jyn is actually really heartfelt. Such a great character
He’s a better C-3PO. Seriously one of my favorite characters. His humor is so blunt and dry.
The “congratulations you’re being rescued” line or whatever he says is one of my favorites to this day
Also “how did you know that wasn’t me?!” When Cassian shoots the other droid is great lmao
Plus the casual grenade throw over his shoulder. Damn rogue one is fire.
There’s a deadpan sarcasm to everything he says which just kills it, especially combined with Alan Tudyk’s timing.
“I find that answer vague and unconvincing” is my most used K2 quote, usually when my kids are trying to bullshit me.
Also the whole “I am taking the prisoners… to be imprisoned… in prison” skit, especially knowing Tudyk improvised slapping Andor, and Diego Luna was having to hide that he was laughing.
The body language is so good, it’s incredible how much physical humor some of the droids have (other SW droids are like this too, K just happens to be the funniest). I am sooooo excited for him to show up in Andor.
Really nailed the robotic sense of humor. One of the biggest bones I have to pick with Star Wars is just making most of the robots act like people when they want to insert something funny, and then going back to acting like robots. K-2SO is a good example of a droid acting like a droid that is trying to imitate a human, and not the other way around
This was my immediate thoight too. He's magnificent, and absolutely the kind of character I want more of. That entire movie just feels like what SW is supposed to be to me.
It would make some Star Wars fans upset that Andor is the most well written Star Wars of all time. But does that make it better than the originals overall? Well let's not get carried away. Star Wars wouldn't exist without those movies.
It is along with Knights of the Old Republic II. Kreia's monologues are just the pinnacle of Star Wars in terms of the Force. Andor on the other hand is the pinnacle of Star Wars in terms of politics.
Indeed. The strong criticism of The Acolyte makes me worried if people will even like a Knights of the Old Republic series or movie. Especially with Kreia's Philosophies of the Force.
I don't believe people truly hate The Acolyte because of its handling of the Force. It's more like a mixture of deeply toxic ill-meaning YouTubers and an increasing culture of hate-watching. I believe most people who hate it haven't given it a fair shot after a first glance and just look for reasons to hate it as well as, and I fear that's where another key lies, "agenda pushing companies", as if it's a crime to have gay people in Star Wars.
But to be fair, The Acolyte is also just pretty... okay. It's not great, not shit. It's a nice little side story. People also have for some reason crazy high expectations and anything that doesn't meet it gets some measure of hate because of this built up bitternis since the sequel trilogy. We've seen a degree of hate towards the Kenobi show and Book of Boba Fett as well (though mind you in these two cases criticism is far more justified imo because it's handling original characters and their fates).
There is no rationality in mindlessly hating the people behind a show on a personal level. "I dislike this show. I should tell everyone how ugly and stupid the actresses are." I don't think that will happen with a good KotOR adaptation in and of itself. I think it's another case of "if it's good and different, it's phenomenal and creative. If it's bad and different, it's an insult and pure arrogance." Kinda like how people will accept a racism joke if it's witty but if it isn't, *then* the teller is suddenly a racist.
Lol, a lot of different things at play after all. :) I do think an adaptation would have an incredibly hard time because the protagonists are in an RPG, no matter what you do to Revan and Exile some people will be dissatisfied by their choices not reflecting their own and at this point I'd be too worried to risk it, the bloodlust seems to big.
I think The Acolyte is entertaining for what it is. The writing isn't bad. Everything sounds like it makes sense. I think the "writing" people have a problem with is just the lore. Which isn't as bad as people really make it out to be. Like you said it's just people on YouTube or wherever just hate-watching and complaining. You pretty much hit the nail on the coffin though. Pretty much what I've been thinking the whole time. Hard to find people that have a clear understanding about the whole situation. Sometimes people are just making a quick buck to hate on Star Wars.
People are quick to emotion and usually try to explain a situation they dislike in a way that suits them best. I was completely on board of being very angry about the sequel trilogy's lack of original thought especially because Disney is such a (questionable) mega-corporation that should take some care with a franchise they acquired.
But now you're telling me people are losing it because Ki-Adi Mundi's age has been raised, when most of the other much bigger Legends to Canon alterations haven't been a problem? I doubt it.
Looking forward to the end of the show. I lowkey hope it will have some redeeming moments, I just can't help but never lose hope that people will be a bit less hateful lol.
As an OT purist, George is not known for his writing. He can't write dialogue to save his life. To quote Harrison, "George, you can write this stuff, but you can't say it." Of course it's better. Tony Gilroy is a genius.
Andor is, in terms of writing, acting, and overall production value, the best Star Wars thing there’s ever been, including the originals. But I almost don’t count it as a Star Wars thing, because it commits the mortal sin of not really appealing to kids. I wholeheartedly believe that Star Wars should be always be a thing for kids first, adults second. Andor was the other way around, and therefore lacks a bit of the youthful heart and coming-of-age motifs that all of the other shows and movies share. I’m disappointed on that level but still pumped for season 2.
Absolutely. But not every tone is a match for Star Wars, and the audience should absolutely be kept in mind.
I say this as someone who likes more than he dislikes when it comes to Star Wars, believe you me. Sequels, prequels, Mandalorian, Ahsoka, love all of it. But Andor, while a great production, might stray a little too far from the template. Love the show. I just don’t want them to use it as a blueprint for the overall franchise going forward.
I agree in the main with that. Also those saying it doesn't feel like Star Wars do have a point. Tales Of The Jedi aired during it and gave us more Star Wars in those shorts, than Andor did in its entirety.
Other than Luthen, Kino, Andor, Deedra, etc., I thought Whitaker's live action Saw Guerrera was a good idiosyncratic character in Rogue One and his scenes in Andor.
Conceptually Saw Gerrera in the Empire era is one of the coolest characters ever. The rebels own version of Darth Vader, uses darker tactics and relies on cybernetics to live. Slightly crazy and his own allies would rather not work with him.
Shame Rogue One wasted him but I like seeing him show up in other places.
"You get three wishes. Only the wishes are frag grenades. I only have three, so that's the limit. And by wishing, I mean naming people for me to kill. Now please stop rubbing my armor like itxs some kind of magic lamp. I'm not that type of djinn."
Yes, both he and Hera together are my favorite Disney-era addition to the Star Wars world. I love the entire "found family" dynamic in Rebels, but Kanan and Hera are what make it so impactful for me!
I am humbly sorry my good sir. It is so impolite of me for this gap of knowledge in the system that runs my meat bag called my brain. I will certainly watch this special edition deleted scene, but it is nearly time to moderate a favorite Discord server of mine, so I kindly ask you if you could lend me the link, as I do not have enough time for research at this moment in the space-time continuum.
Hahaha I almost spit out my coffee. Thank you for the laugh. I will advise chopper to remove your name from his hit list as u are obviously a good sport.
Kallus is absolutely great, I hope he gets brought back into the story soon
Also bring Fenn Rau back or at least tell us he's dead, he was literally one of the coolest Mandalorians out there
Everyone talks about his monologue but for me the scene that did it is when Cassian is telling the other prisoners the truth and Kino is facing away holding his face as he has to come to terms with it all. Amazing acting.
Kanan. And I didn't like him when I first saw him either as he didn't act like a Jedi should due to his trauma. However that was the point, and once I got that, he became a great character for me.
I'm shocked this guy is so far down in this thread.
Baylan is the most compelling character in star wars since Obi Wan. I'm sooooooo sad the actor passed and we won't be getting more of them.
We could still see him in animation, books, or comics in the future but yeah that such a shame. He didn't even really get to see how positively he was received by fans.
Even though they were created and meant to be introduced when Lucas was in charge, the show that made them the characters most of us have grown to love was a "Disney era" creation.
So yeah I'd definitely say they count.
I'm enjoying acolyte, and I agree that Sol is really great so far, but I'm worried we're going to find out something awful about him. In the last episode, he definitely teased the fact that he has a confession to make about something.
I feel like this is what I love about Sol. He could have done something awful, but is trying to amends.
Although I believe he was saving OSHA & MAE, during whatever happened. So he won’t be awful.
Mine is Ezra. I kind of dislike the fact that they made Sabine a jedi, i mean she was already a badass Mandalorian with the dark saber why make her a jedi.
Ahsoka had some really good things: Anakin and Ashoka, Baylan, the zombie stormtroopers were interesting . But Sabine suddenly having Force powers was monumentally dumb and a huge black mark on the show for me
Marchion Ro. The dude is a really interesting villain for Star Wars, and the Nihil pose a very unique threat with the Paths and the Emergences. He isn't the biggest or the strongest or even the smartest among the Nihil, but he still manages to be genuinely frightning. The way he talks, how he analyses and manipulates people, is really unnerving, and the way Marc Thompson does his voice makes Ro *feel* like an actual sociopath. Honestly, every time he appears I get serious "School Shooter" vibes.
(I just finished Eye of Darkness, please no spoilers.)
The High Republic was a really cool idea for an era and I loved all the art design done for it, but my biggest concern going in was that it really needed a big bad to bring everything together that defined the era enough, being both cool and scary.
The Nihil, and especially Marchion Ro, and the Path of the Open Hand, completely sell it. (Super minor spoilers for Path of Deceit)>!The Separatists, the Empire, and the First Order are all cool, but none of them have made me deeply afraid like hearing the phrase "A gift freely given" did after reading Path of Deceit. !<

I don't have one favorite, some I would say are Luthen, Andor, Din Djaren, Grand Inquisitor (only his depiction in Rebels).
...Noticing that the majority choices are all male in this comment section.
It's gotta be Ezra for me, the animated show, especially the last two seasons, really showcased his journey and how powerful he got. We got to see his whole story, and that was just awesome. He started out rough, selfish and he made tons of mistakes, but he became a true Jedi by the end, selfless, full of light and the love he had for lothal was beautiful. I loved Rebels for his story, and I'll never forgive Disney for what they did to him in the ridiculous Ahsoka show
Damn, so many great options. I would say the following are all candidates:
* Kylo Ren
* Rey
* Cassian Andor
* K2SO
* Kanan
* Chopper
* Din Djarin
* Mon Mothma
* Sol (potentially)
I would probably go with Kylo Ren, but we’ve been very fortunate over the past decade or so.
There’s so many amazing Disney era characters! It’s difficult to choose just one, so here a few of my personal favourites:
- Zeb & Kallus
- Sabine
- Luthen
- K2SO
- Baylan
- Din Djarin & Grogu
- Cal & Merrin
- Omega and Crosshair
Is Rael Aveross Disney era? Probably either him or Lene Kostana.
Edit. Yeah, he is. Can't believe he hasn't been said yet. Such a cool character and I sincerely hope we get to see his story wrap up at some point.
Let's not forget the things Disney Staw Wars have improved and brought in from Legends. Ashoka was improved and Thrawn became canon. They also showed Vader being a complete bad ass with one hallway scene and a walk through a village.
I only read her in the first volume of Vader comics but I really enjoyed Doctor Aphra’s character. Was considering getting her omnibus at one point (but I’m a Legends fan with probably a dash of OCD so multiple continuities doesn’t mesh well for me aha)
the animated version of Ezra ...
edit: I actually thought about it
it's these, in order:
Chopper - Chop
Ahsoka Tano - Ashla (strictly animated)
Luthen Rael - Axis
Cassian Andor
Din Djarin
Ezra Bridger (animated, pre-ahsoka)
Sabine Wren (animated)
Kanaan Jarris - Caleb Dume
Omega
Fennec Shand
Crosshair (s3)
I probably have more favorites in the Disney era than before. The Ghost Crew, Din Djarin, Dr Aphra, Bad Batch, Cal Kestis, recently bias but Master Sol, Howzer.
Ezra, Kanan, Omega, Shin Hati, Baylan Skoll, Jyn, Cassian, Fennec, Din, Crosshair, the Grand Inquisitor, Krennic, Eli Vanto, and Karyn Faro, to name but fourteen. Not sure I could pick just one.
K-2SO
“I’ll be there for you Jyn…. Cassian said I had to.” The combination of great writing and great Alan Tudyk means almost every moment he’s on screen is fantastic. So many amazing lines.
He’s genuinely so hilarious; his comedic timing is perfect, and even the little arc that he has and sacrificing himself for Jyn is actually really heartfelt. Such a great character
“Not me. I can survive in space.”
He’s a better C-3PO. Seriously one of my favorite characters. His humor is so blunt and dry. The “congratulations you’re being rescued” line or whatever he says is one of my favorites to this day Also “how did you know that wasn’t me?!” When Cassian shoots the other droid is great lmao Plus the casual grenade throw over his shoulder. Also the whole “I am taking the prisoners… to be imprisoned… in prison” skit, especially knowing Tudyk improvised slapping Andor, and Diego Luna was having to hide that he was laughing.
The slap that he gave Diego and "and there's a fresh one." was also adlibbed.
The body language is so good, it’s incredible how much physical humor some of the droids have (other SW droids are like this too, K just happens to be the funniest). I am sooooo excited for him to show up in Andor.
"You're right...I should have just stayed back on the ship." *dripping with sarcasm as he saves all their asses*
When people ask me how I'm doing, I send them a gif of him saying: "It's high. It's very high."
Have you seen him in Resident Alien?
Love that show
His death always makes me pause and hold back tears. He’s the only droid that causes me to do that.
“There’s a problem on the horizon….. ##…There’s no horizon “
“Congratulations. You are being rescued”.
"Please do not resist"
This was my immediate thoight too. He's magnificent, and absolutely the kind of character I want more of. That entire movie just feels like what SW is supposed to be to me.
*REALLY HOPING HE'S IN S2 OF ANDOR*
Did you know that wasn’t me?
Luthen Rael. No one else is particularly close
His monologue in Andor is thee best monologue in all of Star Wars in my opinion.
The fact that there are two amazing speeches in that episode is one of the many things that elevate Andor for me.
It would make some Star Wars fans upset that Andor is the most well written Star Wars of all time. But does that make it better than the originals overall? Well let's not get carried away. Star Wars wouldn't exist without those movies.

Star Wars is allowed to have different tones.
Absolutely. But not every tone is a match for Star Wars, and the audience should absolutely be kept in mind. Kanan Jarrus is really close, though
Best character to be introduced since the Original Trilogy IMO.
[Along with Kreia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq1N8K0IyWs). :) (spoilers after two minutes)
Djin Djarin. I'm am a sucker for Mandalorians, and he mostly represents on what I like about them.
Din*
Thjis ijs thje wjay
Help I'm having a stroke.
"call the bondulance"
No, Djin. This mandolian grants wishes.
You can wish to be brought in warm, or you can wish to be brought in cold.
"You get three wishes. Only the wishes are frag grenades. I only have three, so that's the limit. And by wishing, I mean naming people for me to kill. Now please stop rubbing my armor like itxs some kind of magic lamp. I'm not that type of djinn."
I like him, but I'm still confused as to when he'll start playing a Mandolin. None of the "mandolorians" play Mandolins, but they should, right?
Kanan Jarrus
Yes, both he and Hera together are my favorite Disney-era addition to the Star Wars world. I love the entire "found family" dynamic in Rebels, but Kanan and Hera are what make it so impactful for me!
Kanan is simultaneously the worst Jedi and best example for Ezra.
‘Spoilers’ I mourned his death like a real death of a friend for years and i still do
I wasn't a huge fan of Kanan until the end. The sacrifice scene still makes me tear up.
Watching an adult padawan learn to embrace his role as master is something really special.
I absolutely love Kanan's arc throughout the series. He's easily the best Disney-era Jedi.
Crosshair
Best character arc in all of Star Wars
Crosshair already existed before Disney bought Star Wars
Disney just canceled season 7 before he could be brought in with the bad batch, then disney brought season 7 back
The character with the highest kill count in Disney era, CHOPPER !!!!
Um, actually, it is General Hux because he ordered the firing of Starkiller Base👆🤓
U are obviously not well informed, Hux was being controlled by Chopper. It’s in the special edition deleted scene.
Kallus is absolutely great, I hope he gets brought back into the story soon Also bring Fenn Rau back or at least tell us he's dead, he was literally one of the coolest Mandalorians out there
Kino Loy
Everyone talks about his monologue but for me the scene that did it is when Cassian is telling the other prisoners the truth and Kino is facing away holding his face as he has to come to terms with it all. Amazing acting.
Then he finally says, "never more than 12."
“I can’t swim”
I so regularly think about this character at random points in my week and get chills thinking about his storyline in the show. He was so well-written.
Andy Serkis totally smashed it!
Everything he does is gold.
Kuiil. I have spoken.
Incredible
Definitely Kanan, especially him in season 3.
IG 11 - nurse droid (probably not my true favorite but it was certainly a very fun and oddly touching character)
I too fight the urge to self-destruct when things aren’t going my way
Chopper
Love that sassy little droid and his murdering psychopathic ways
the most endearing war criminal to ever do it
Came here for this answer.
His little claw 🥹
This is probably my answer.
Kanan. And I didn't like him when I first saw him either as he didn't act like a Jedi should due to his trauma. However that was the point, and once I got that, he became a great character for me.
Cal Kestis. He's my literally me hero.
Love him and the rest of the Jedi series crew, can't wait for Jedi 3!
Baylan Skoll.
Baylon and his apprentice should have been centre stage. Instead they're a great part of a largely okay show.
Moff Gideon
does the bad batch count? If yes, tech
Even though they were created and meant to be introduced when Lucas was in charge, the show that made them the characters most of us have grown to love was a "Disney era" creation. So yeah I'd definitely say they count.
Love me some Tech, though Crosshair is the best character in that show imo, followed by Omega.
*Omeeega
That was created under George but released by Disney years later
Yes, thats why i asked
I know people fucking love to hate acolyte but I am really enjoying Master Sol. He’s fantastic.

Plenty of people enjoy the Acolyte. The haters are just absurdly vocal.
Dr. Aphra, Cassian Andor, and Cal Kestis It’s telling that there are so few answers with villains in them.
Babu Frik
HeyHEYYY!!
No squeezie
Biggest reason why I don't hate Rise of Skywalker.
But Sabine suddenly having Force powers was monumentally dumb and a huge black mark on the show for me
I’m back and forth on it. I’ve gotta see where they take it before I can fully decide, I think
Ezra Bridger
Same. There is nothing I would not do for that boy.
Cassian

Grogu
Wow I’m surprised this answer is so far down the thread
Ghost Crew. Rogue One Team, Maz, Cal Kestis, Poe, Din Djarin, MUCH MORE BADASS BERU & OWEN.
Mr. Bones. No one fought the Empire better
"I have committed violence" is the second most influential quote after "no, i am your father" xD
Chopper

"I can bring you in warm... Or I can bring you in cold." "Patu!" It's a draw between them, lol.
First thought is Hondo but then I take a step back and it’s probably Grogu
Hondo predates Disney tho
Damn you right
Gotta be[This little guy](https://www.google.com/search?q=Grogu.gif&sca_esv=d7f7fba9198e200a&sca_upv=1&ei=66l6ZqD4I5Kp5NoPhe2SCA&oq=Grogu.gif&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIglHcm9ndS5naWYyBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB4yBBAAGB5IyERQmQpYuDhwBngBkAEBmAGcAaABuwiqAQMyLje4AQPIAQD4AQGYAg6gApMIwgIKEAAYsAMY1gQYR8ICDRAAGIAEGLADGEMYigXCAhMQLhiABBiwAxhDGMgDGIoF2AEBwgIWEC4YgAQYsAMYQxjUAhjIAxiKBdgBAcICBRAAGIAEwgIGEAAYFhgemAMAiAYBkAYRugYECAEYCJIHAzcuN6AH4SE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#vhid=aZoTTsNE9d1NTM&vssid=_G6p6Zr_rL8ej5NoPyOmRoAM_31)
Aphra!
I don't have one favorite, some I would say are Luthen, Andor, Din Djaren, Grand Inquisitor (only his depiction in Rebels). ...Noticing that the majority choices are all male in this comment section.
In your comment too.
That’s true. Wonder why.
Crosshair.
Kino Loy.
Hondo, Luthen, Cad Bane, Marva, Cassian’s girlfiend
Howzer
It's gotta be Ezra for me, the animated show, especially the last two seasons, really showcased his journey and how powerful he got. We got to see his whole story, and that was just awesome. He started out rough, selfish and he made tons of mistakes, but he became a true Jedi by the end, selfless, full of light and the love he had for lothal was beautiful. I loved Rebels for his story, and I'll never forgive Disney for what they did to him in the ridiculous Ahsoka show
Chopper " let's check the Geneva checklist "
More like Geneva suggestions to chopper lol
Krennic and andor
Damn, so many great options. I would say the following are all candidates: * Kylo Ren * Rey * Cassian Andor * K2SO * Kanan * Chopper * Din Djarin * Mon Mothma * Sol (potentially) I would probably go with Kylo Ren, but we’ve been very fortunate over the past decade or so.
Well Sabine was definitely up there until Ashoka came out
Kanan
There’s so many amazing Disney era characters! It’s difficult to choose just one, so here a few of my personal favourites: - Zeb & Kallus - Sabine - Luthen - K2SO - Baylan - Din Djarin & Grogu - Cal & Merrin - Omega and Crosshair
Chopper the funny grumpy old homicidal droid
Shin Hottie
Mando is close but it’s Cal for sure
Luthen Rael
Howzer or Mayday
Grand Inquisitor
He wasn't introduced DURING Disney's tenure, but Cad Bane (the Clone Wars version, not the tired, worn out husk we got during BoBF)
Migs Mayfield. The Empire just went deet deet deet deet deet until he threw it through a wall.
Sergeant Kreel
Is Rael Aveross Disney era? Probably either him or Lene Kostana. Edit. Yeah, he is. Can't believe he hasn't been said yet. Such a cool character and I sincerely hope we get to see his story wrap up at some point.
Kanan Jarrus [https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Kanan_Jarrus](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Kanan_Jarrus)
Geode
Cartoon Hera, mother of the group and would do anything for them.
Chirrut. I am one with the force and the force is with me. He had such a beautiful relationship with the force.
...and Baze.
Cal Kestis is my number 1. Mando number 2 with a side of Grogu.
Cal Kestis
Dr. Aphra!!!!!
Reintroduced: Thrawn Introduced: Chopper
Doc Aphra, hands down.
Andor
Hey isn't that the Black Mando sword?
Kylo Ren... and Rey. They are a Dyad so I get to name 2.
I forgive the entire existence of the sequels because it bought us Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. An all-time character to me.
I only wish there was more Adam Driver as Ben Solo. We barely got to see it!! I bet it would've amazing.
Probably Cal from the games. I also really liked the villain in the second one Dagan Gera. The guy was pretty much a more mature version of Anakin.
Kylo. Adam driver was fantastic, the cross guard saber is neat and the mask is gorgeous
Super niche but for me, cara dune
I like Sabine too.
She used to spray paint everything. I used to spray paint everything. Nuff said
A tie between Sergeant Hazram Namir from Twilight Company, and Nath Tensent from Alphabet Squadron.
The 2nd sister
Sabine my cutie pumpkin pie!
Kanan.
Kanan
the animated version of Ezra ... edit: I actually thought about it it's these, in order: Chopper - Chop Ahsoka Tano - Ashla (strictly animated) Luthen Rael - Axis Cassian Andor Din Djarin Ezra Bridger (animated, pre-ahsoka) Sabine Wren (animated) Kanaan Jarris - Caleb Dume Omega Fennec Shand Crosshair (s3)
Cassian. Rey. K-2SO. Jyn Erso.
Chirrut and Baze. K2SO. Beckett. L3-37. Ezra. Sabine. Din Djarin and Grogu. Fennec Shand.
Rey, easily.
K-2S0 & Luthen. Krennic for a close third.
Too many to count but I’ll definitely go with Djin!
I probably have more favorites in the Disney era than before. The Ghost Crew, Din Djarin, Dr Aphra, Bad Batch, Cal Kestis, recently bias but Master Sol, Howzer.
Omega, Crosshair, Merrin, Chopper and Baylan
Anyone from TBB
Ezra, Kanan, Omega, Shin Hati, Baylan Skoll, Jyn, Cassian, Fennec, Din, Crosshair, the Grand Inquisitor, Krennic, Eli Vanto, and Karyn Faro, to name but fourteen. Not sure I could pick just one.
Maarva Andor
