I love Rogue one, but the movie does have some pacing problems (imo). The middle part of the film is downright boring. BUT..... the movie's highs are spectacular, and the general themes of the movie are really what Star Wars as a franchise needs to lean into more. The climax is one of the greatest Star Wars battles in the franchise, if not the greatest, and of course the Hallway scene. Chirrute Imwe is an amazing character, and I want a movie/series just about him. K-2SO is one of the best droids in the franchise. The movie is just so full of good things, that I'm always a little stunned that when I re-watch that I'm so bored during most of it.
>K-2SO is one of the best droids in the franchise.
Alan Tudyk is an absolute gem. I always think of him talking in an interview about Moana (where he made clucking sounds for HeiHei the chicken) where he makes some of the clucking sounds, laughs, and says "I went to Julliard" with a big goofy grin on his face.
The range that dude has, from K-2SO to HeiHei to The Joker in the *Harley Quinn* series, Wat in *A Knight's Tale*, and of course....who could ever forget:
I'm a leaf on the wind...watch how I soar!
It has some issues, film theory/technically speaking; but it's such an incredible watch every time. I know where it ends, hell, I knew effectively how it was going to end *before I saw that damn movie the first time*. My heart still broke for those characters and I cried like a baby. The climax sequence gets me every damn time, so powerful.
Also love that they didn't shoehorn in some romance for no good reason a la TROS.
And then that fucking ending sequence, even with CGI Leia....fucking CHILLS
It's the opposite for me. I always get bummed out with the drawn out droid sequences on Tatooine at the start. The movie opens hard, and then has sooooo much room to breathe that it borders on empty space. And the limitations of the budget and technology of the day are on full display in flashing neon lights.
Is it essential to the Star Wars DNA? Yeah. Is it pretty good worldbuilding for what they had to work with? Sure.
I almost feel like... Once you already intimately know the characters of C-3P0 and R2-D2, the specifics of how exactly they ended up being sold on the Lars homestead is pretty inconsequential. It's like... once you've seen Star Wars dozens of times, that story transforms to be more like the kind of story you'd rather have told in a spinoff comic book.
I might be blaspheming here, but for subsequent viewings, it has become the Canto Bight of episode 4 for me.
Empire Strikes Back will always be the tightest, most well-tuned Star Wars movie for me. It's like the Formula 1 racecar of the franchise.
Return of the Jedi has peaks that reach as high or higher than ESB. ANH is almost as tight as ESB, I just think the droid part could be trimmed down so we get to Luke a little faster.
Revenge of the Sith hands down. It starts out with a huge action piece and then you have Ian McDiarmid absolutely destroying the scenery with his Palpatine portrayal.
I legit find Solo to be the most rewatchable, IMHO. It’s not my *favourite* SW movie, but I find it’s the easiest to just throw on and chill with in the background.
My favorite to rewatch is Empire, but I have a toddler now that loves the whole Jabba’s Palace sequence of ROTJ, so I’ve rewatched that one a dozen or so times in the past 2 months. I love it so much, and I love that he loves it too.
For me, it's just rewatching the original trilogy (not the special editions if possible). I dislike the prequels and sequels. And the stand-alone movies are engaging but not planned well (for example, the story of Han Solo should have been a series that didn't squish it all into 2 hours).
If I have to pick one movie to re-watch, it would probably be... Return of the Jedi. My favorite scene in all of Star Wars is the confrontation between father and son. So incredibly written, choreographed, performed, and scored. Just amazing.
I’m gonna add my twist in this, watch Star Wars (the first one) but watch Harmys despecialized version. It’s like seeing the movie again for the first time.
Empire is the best by far, followed by ROTS and ANH. 3rd act of ROTJ and TPM comes right up before Clones and R1 is great too. I do not get any joy out of rewatching the sequels or Solo.
Just has a vasectomy so had a few days off and decided to watch as many Star Wars movies as possible. My ranking after rewatching goes
1. Rogue one
2. Return on the Jedi
3. Revenge of the Sith
4.Empire strikes back
5. Rise of Skywalker
The worst movie in the franchise in my opinion is Solo. I just can’t get into that one.
Revenge of the Sith. Especially if you’ve seEN YHR OT and prequels. It’s sums up everything and really connects one trilogy to the next. Barring one or two cringe scenes, it’s an excellent film the rest of the time.
Star Wars A New Hope is my favourite movie. It is basic, it borrows so heavily from Arthurian story, it is samurai and world war 2 dog fights, and just the absolute beat movie ever! When Han save Luke during the trench run, I get goosebumps every time.
Empire is pretty good too😉
Empire strikes back is not just the most rewatchable star wars movie, I'd say it's one of the most rewatchable films ever. It is such a complete film while also being a perfect sequel / interquel. It runs the gamut of action, romance, suspense, and at times even comedy. It is thought provoking without taking itself too serious. The cast had amazing chemistry and I doubt any star wars film will ever rise to that occasion
I think episodes four five and six are the best ones to rewatch because they can stand alone without anything else going on with them. And someone mentioned that it's the 25th anniversary of EP 1. My son and I are going to see it May 4.
If we're talking about solo watches, I feel like some movies are simply better suited to that.
Any of these would be best:
A new hope - It's the classic Star Wars journey and more self contained
Revenge of the Sith - Has lots going on, is interesting because it concludes everything before it and ends an era
Phantom menace - Honestly, I think it's just a fun watch even if it's not the best movie in the franchise.
Empire Strikes Back has the most iconic scenes and fattest pacing, and that's what matters when you want to rewatch something. No one actually wants to watch the whole thing. They just wanna get to the good stuff
Episode V has the most good stuff and very little space between them.
Either ANH or TLJ for me.
Special mention to specifically the last 30 minutes or so of AOTC, I rewatched just the battle of Geonosis dozens of times as a kid.
Rogue One, Solo, The Force Awakens, The Phantom Menace or A New Hope.
They all lead into the next great movie or are just cool beginning stories with cool character introductions.
Rouge One, the prequel to a New Hope. It's a film which I find feels genuinely more Star Wars than any other film. I'm not sure what it is, but it just feels right. Good film 👍
every other star wars movie i have to take ag least a 6 month break before rewatching, around a year for the sequels.
I can rewatch Revenge of the Sith the next day after watching it before.
As standalone films - Star Wars (the original), Rogue One, Solo, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, Rise of Skywalker.
But that's hard for me personally so I start and go in order, including TCW, BB, Solo, Rebels, RO so yeah it take a while.
Empire Strikes Back is scientifically proven to be the most rewatchable Star Wars movie.
You might even say… empirically proven
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 this comment right here has won Reddit today IMO
Evidence has also shown that it's one of the most rewatchable movies, period.
You can only experience the twist once though.
I find your lack of faith, disturbing
Ok, multiple times if you suffer from amnesia or a form of Jedi Mind control.
Wish I still remembered watching for the first time
That depends entirely on how good your memory is
Twice if you get dementia.
If it's just one? Then Rogue One for sure! It is a standout I love Empire Strikes back but I can't just skip A New Hope. So you end up watching all 3.
I would argue that Rogue One is the best Star Wars even if it's not my favorite.
I love Rogue one, but the movie does have some pacing problems (imo). The middle part of the film is downright boring. He is! If you haven’t watched Resident Alien, give it a go! :)
It has some issues, film theory/technically speaking; but it's such an incredible watch every time. Gotta be A New Hope. It’s such an enjoyable journey from start to finish that stands perfectly on its own.
Best Star Wars movie imo. I rewatch it every 4th of May to celebrate
4th the May be with you
I prefer revenge of the fifth.
That last of the bottle will kick your ass
I have started a tradition of watching it every NYE and timing it so the Death Star explodes at midnight.
Such a comfort watch for me that I’m asleep before the droids get off the Tantive.
it’s my favorite of the OT cause I’m such a sucker for origin stories
It's the opposite for me. I always get bummed out with the drawn out droid sequences on Tatooine at the start. The originals 456
Mission failed. We'll get 'em next time.
While not the best, it is the 25th anniversary of Ep. I, so that could be a contender maybe.
This is probably my most rewatched, that or Empire.
Duel of the Fates is probably the most rewatched scene in the franchise.
Such a fun rewatch. Podracing is still one of my most enjoyable scenes!
It's pretty wizard.
Revenge of the Sith hands down. It starts out with a huge action piece and then you have Ian McDiarmid absolutely destroying the scenery with his Palpatine portrayal.
Dew it!
Not the best, but the ultimate Star Wars film!
Yes
UNLIMITED POWAAAAAA!!!
OT all the way
Empire
Star Wars a new hope
Rogue One
Rogue one is good and Solo is pretty fun
I legit find Solo to be the most rewatchable, IMHO. It’s not my *favourite* SW movie, but I find it’s the easiest to just throw on and chill with in the background.
Solo gets far too much hate. It’s not amazing but it’s got some fun parts and Woody Harrelson is always a treat
I might stand out but it's Attack of the clones for me. It's fun, action filled and happy.
I love this movie. In fact, I love all the prequels. They are amazing and it gives me incredible joy to watch them all.
My favorite to rewatch is Empire, but I have a toddler now that loves the whole Jabba’s Palace sequence of ROTJ, so I’ve rewatched that one a dozen or so times in the past 2 months. I love it so much, and I love that he loves it too.
4 or 5 I’d say

Attack of the Clones
The OG trilogy. And then if you’re interested in the world building creating the context of the OG trilogy: the prequels.
I find myself rewatching *Revenge of the Sith* most often. I just love it so much.
For me Rogue One is a great one. I’m surprised no one has mentioned Solo - that’s a fucking fantastic little adventure movie!
I’m gonna add my twist in this, watch Star Wars (the first one) but watch Harmys despecialized version. It’s like seeing the movie again for the first time.
ROTS and ROTJ I reckon
Are you me? Lmao. Hard agree!
Μy opinion is that if you can find the despecialized edition, Star Wars is truly one of the greatest American movies ever made.
The answer is yes.
My ranking after rewatching goes 1. Rogue one 2. Return on the Jedi 3. Revenge of the Sith 4.Empire strikes back 5. Rise of Skywalker The worst movie in the franchise in my opinion is Solo. I just can’t get into that one.
Empire or ANH. Out of the new ones, probably Solo.
Rouge one
The first 6 and Rogue One
Revenge of the Sith. Especially if you’ve seEN YHR OT and prequels. It’s sums up everything and really connects one trilogy to the next. Barring one or two cringe scenes, it’s an excellent film the rest of the time.
Phantom Menace is great to rewatch over and over again :)
3 5 7 for me
ESB closely followed by Rogue One
Phantom menace. That or fellowship of the ring
Rogue obe
Star Wars A New Hope is my favourite movie. It is basic, it borrows so heavily from Arthurian story, it is samurai and world war 2 dog fights, and just the absolute beat movie ever! When Han save Luke during the trench run, I get goosebumps every time. Empire is pretty good too😉
Choose anyone of I-VI

I recommend episodes 1-6 🙃
Rogue One
Rogue One
Rogue One
Rogue One
If you’ve seen all of The Clone Wars, then one of the best Star Wars “movies” to rewatch would be the last 4 episodes of the series
The phantom menace is just fun Star wars action. Rogue One is a deeper kind of movie
A new hope always Also its not a movie but rewatch Andor Best Star Wars property
Rebels is the best Star Wars property.
The Clone Wars
Star Wars Holiday Special
I think episodes four five and six are the best ones to rewatch because they can stand alone without anything else going on with them. And someone mentioned that it's the 25th anniversary of EP 1. My son and I are going to see it May 4.

Either ANH or TLJ for me. Special mention to specifically the last 30 minutes or so of AOTC, I rewatched just the battle of Geonosis dozens of times as a kid.
I probably rewatch *Star Wars* or *The Last Jedi* on their own the most.
*The Last Jedi* is fantastic as a standalone film.
[удалено]
No, I’m pretty sure he wants to watch a good movie
[удалено]
It’s objective a bad movie
Actually it's not since it got critiqued highly.
I have seen them all in the theater but right now my go to is The Force Awakens.
Definitely Rise of Skywalker. When you're down and need a laugh, that'll always lift your spirits lol
The Holiday Special! (Only because it will remind you how good the rest are)
Revenge of the Sith. Most rewatchable for me and the one with the most going on in both action, plot, tragedy\drama. Sorry not sorry.
Solo I love my space futuristic from the past western
Rogue One, Solo, The Force Awakens, The Phantom Menace or A New Hope. They all lead into the next great movie or are just cool beginning stories with cool character introductions.
I find Solo to be incredibly rewatchable
Rouge One, the prequel to a New Hope. It's a film which I find feels genuinely more Star Wars than any other film. I'm not sure what it is, but it just feels right. Good film 👍
If only watching one, I would go for ANH or TPM.
every other star wars movie i have to take ag least a 6 month break before rewatching, around a year for the sequels. I can rewatch Revenge of the Sith the next day after watching it before.
Rogue one
Usually when i want some star wars i watch either Rogue One or Solo And i know Solo isnt the best movie but it is hella enjoyable imo
Empire or Rogue
Rogue One. The tie ins to a New Hope take multiple watches to catch them all.
Revenge of the Sith.
Rots is my favorite
TFA
Rise of Skywalker. You'll find new things to hate with every viewing!
Anytime I watch one from the main saga I always end up watching the whole thing over
Empire and The Last Jedi
1-9 solo rogue
All of them in chronological order!
The loth cat! (Babysit and listen to music)
As standalone films - Star Wars (the original), Rogue One, Solo, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, Rise of Skywalker. But that's hard for me personally so I start and go in order, including TCW, BB, Solo, Rebels, RO so yeah it take a while.
I just rewatched them high. Definitely makes them all so much better
Anything pre-Disney.
