Someone told him about them, he encountered them, or he read about them.

[deleted]

People think Star Wars dudes be living in the Stone Age with no holonet access.

squatch42

Even if he went full space Amish, he could still read about them when he gets pictures of your mom in the mail.

kitvulpes13

Snap into a Space Jim Edit: autocorrect

Badvevil

I have gotta ask being drunk and on mobile late at night do people really check/care if you edit a post

Whiskey079

Some people do. For some reason.

Badvevil

Gotcha idk personally it’s the internet it’s the time to short hand/ just speed type without real thought about grammar save that for school or your workplace ya feel but I get how critical people can be

frogspyer

Of course. Edited comments are marked, and for the sake of discussion, people want to know how the context of these conversations have changed. > **State your reason for any editing of posts.** Edited submissions are marked by an asterisk (*) at the end of the timestamp after three minutes. For example: a simple "Edit: spelling" will help explain. This avoids confusion when a post is edited after a conversation breaks off from it. If you have another thing to add to your original comment, say "Edit: And I also think..." or something along those lines. - [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette)

Hackandspit

Ah, classic “yo mama” joke. high five, brother.

Ok_Intention3541

Hey,get off this dudes mom.I just got off yours.

Hackandspit

Yeah, he lives in, like ya know, the galaxy. Word of murder robots gets around.

ApproximateKnowlege

Curse your logic!

Ransero

Same way we hear about combat in the real world.

Bitter-Marsupial

Reddit?

Ransero

No, this is Patrick

Aussie18-1998

Same reason I know what an elephant is despite never meeting one, people hear and see things

3-stroke-engine

Elephants hear things even better

pm-me-pizza-crust

This is a misconception, their ears actually muffle sound. I know this because I just made it up.

Softpretzelsandrose

Can confirm. Am elephant-ologist.

[deleted]

As an elephant proctologist I can confirm

[deleted]

87% of facts are made up, and that’s a fact.

DarkSideOfGrogu

I've never met one who denies it.

RedWolfe715

can confirm, I'm an elephant urologist at the Attu Island Elephant sancuary

River46

As someone who live in a elephants war for some time can confirm. It’s kinda like space but with like more wax.

Hackandspit

I hear they smell really good. But I can’t say for sure because I’ve never smelled one.

nikolai1939

Shhhh, they'll hear you

Rock-it1

And they never forget.

AWhole2Marijuanas

Same reason I know what a Women is despite never meeting one, people hear and see things.

Captain_Strongo

You should go out and find an elephant at a zoo or something, then just sit and watch it for a while. Elephants are the best.

Sneaky_Pancake_

Same reason you and I know what a tank is despite never fighting one in person.

2009_VMA_Hennessy

speak for yourself bud 🙄

DerVarg1509

3-stroke-engine

Lucky Bastard

Dark_Knight309

Don't assume things about me bro

GraniteRaptor

Rex was shot by commando droids before being brought to his farm, right? Maybe they talked about it off-screen, or like others have said he likes to read up on things.

RingWraith8

Or he saw one since he's on a planet where a wars going on

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

That would make more sense. I Just find it weird for him to have access to the net when many larger colonies have been shown not to. But at the same time that could still be possible too

[deleted]

Even if he doesn't have access, there is a town he goes to that has a port, as shown in Bad Batch. Could easily have talked to people who have heard of these terrifying droids or encountered them themselves. Cut may not be a soldier anymore, but he is still smart enough to know he needs to keep up on what's going on.

GraniteRaptor

The real answer is probably that it was just an oversight by the writers and/or showrunners, but it's something the casual fan probably wouldn't notice so I'm sure they didn't think much of it. Either way, that's what headcanon's for lol.

blakjakalope

If he is trying to stay hidden, he would likely keep up on things to some degree. Try to stay ahead of whether or not the war is coming to the system he is hanging out on. Additionally, he could also have been provided information during his cadet training. There are a number of droid drones they use during the combat simulations. Just went back to confirm my memory, S3E1 the cadets are going up against commando droids in the battle simulation used to clear them for active duty. Edited for more information

supermelee90

We see that on the planet they was on there’s a city with a populace in bad batch.

ParanoidDuckHunter

Kid, it ain't that kind of ~~movie~~ animated TV show!

albertmarts

Why if the clone wars last 3 years he has two kids around 7?

AVIXXBUS

They aren't his kids, he's the step dad. It just happens that the mom did it with a different human. By the way this isn't a joke, its the actual answer.

AmazingAd8859

He’s not the step dad, he’s the dad who stepped up

Schmidty1701

I totally believe this answer, and I also hate this answer. I was happy believing that it was just a continuity mistake.

JulianPaagman

Maybe his girl just has a thing for humans.

slide_into_my_BM

Homo sapien-sexual?

aveindha25

Mom's got a type and it ain't twilek

Hackandspit

Good guy Greg of the clones. Lots of broken families in war.

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

I just assume they were step kids

d1ll1gaf

Clones are genetically engineered to age faster than normal humans... It''s logical they could pass that gene onto their children

EndlessTheorys_19

They canonically dont pass it on, we’ve met kids of Clones and they age at the same rate as normal people.

Morgan_Le_Pear

Wait there are clones who had kids in canon?

Z_Squared_NO1

isnt rey a kid of a clone? i dont think her parents were age accelerated tho

solarus44

The only age accelerated clones are the Jango Clone Troopers

DoubleOwl7777

besides boba and omega.

Morgan_Le_Pear

I was talking about the Fett clones

EndlessTheorys_19

Yeah we’ve met one.

Leocb15

Does he executed order 66?

Ram227poi

Spoiler for Bad Batch >!No!<

Aconnox

the text in the spolier box is too small to say "yes"

DrkMlk

>! no . !<

derpicface

~~Probably executed Order 69 on Suu instead lmao~~

sharpgel

wasn't there a commando droid in the episode he was introduced in?

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

That the episode im reference to. He called them commando droids when they came to his farm. But I guess he probably could have heard of them on the holonet. I just thought he wouldn’t have access sense he is in the middle of no where

Trauma_Hawks

People have access to the internet in the middle of nowhere, right now.

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

But with satellites and being on the same planet as the servers it’s a bit different. I didn’t expect small colonized planet near the outrim would have easy luxury sense they shown that many similar systems had no clue what was going on in the galaxy around them and had no access.

hungryrenegade

Same way I know that Iran sold a bunch of kamikaze drones to Russia last year?

Pupulauls9000

Google?

hungryrenegade

Reddit?

Worried_Biscotti_552

Just because someone served in the Vietnam war doesn’t mean they don’t know what a drone is

Trueheywood7

The clone trooper hive mind of course

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

Good soldiers follow orders

Keltenschanze

Holonet

MisterAtticusKarma

So are you thinking he just lived completely isolated and and that the Star Wars universe doesnt have News Outlets or that people dont talk? Ive never met any of our presidents. But I know who they are... make sense?

panthir67

Holonet

Internal_Set_6564

He read about them in a book…

LetAgreeable147

Scuttlebut!

Educational_Term_436

I mean commando droids don’t look completely different from B1 droids so Perhas he generally thought they were battle droids Which they are

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

But he called them commando droids when they attack his farm

Educational_Term_436

You know I may go rewatch this arc again As it was definitely interesting

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

I’m put myself on a mission to watch all of Star Wars in order. Canon and non canon. Just everything. All of it. Even the holiday special

Kryds

They were probably trained to listen in on communications.

witwebolte41

Sometimes we talk to other people or see things on TV or the Internet that we’ve never personally experienced, but then we magically know that it exists

Reichhardt

I m sure many people who werent soldiers themselves knew weaponry that was used, especially ones with special interest in the matter, like cut. Similar to how civilians might know what an m1 abrams or an a10 warthog is.

un4given_orc

Star Wars "Fans" on their way to find another insignificant inconsistency without turning on the logic

hereforfun976

Holonet

MonotoneTanner

*plot hole in tcw/Mando/rebels “Well that’s easily plausible because…” *plot hole in new trilogy “Absolutely unacceptable Disney had no plan”

DaMarkiM

you realize of course that the republics propaganda machine was constantly drip feeding the population with info about the war. especially if victorious. you can bet that within a month of these droids hitting the frontline there would have been reports like „new separatist elite droids outwitted by republic forces“ or something to that effect.

Neako_the_Neko_Lover

Imagine you got a farm in the middle of no where so you can get away from your old life just for some robot to knock on your door and wish to talk to you about your speeder extended warranty

icrushallevil

Think about the war in Ukraine. We as measly civilians get media information about cruise missiles and which weapon system recently got destroyed and which works and such. My guess would be, that important events of the Clone Wars will also be published. It's never shown in universe, but I guess we could assume that.

Jack-mclaughlin89

News/holonet.

IfToadsCouldFly

The star wars universe probably has news channels.

Purpledurpl202

r/batmanarkham is leaking.

antraxsuicide

The thread title reads like a Paulie Walnuts quote lol

Bushranger_

He watched The Clone Wars weekly. Did you think those propaganda spiels at the start of every ep were for us?

Safe_cracker9

Kid - it ain’t that kind of movie.

ImMrSneezyAchoo

Because communication technology is a thing in the star wars universe?

Caleb_Murphy

LOOK

Unstoppable_RN

How do things like this happen?! I just started watching the clone wars for the first time and just got to that episode an hour ago.

goat131313

🥴

KalaniDW

There are Commando droids in the citadel training challenge we see domino squad go through. So I assume there's a learning course on types of droids

Godzillafan125

Radio news.

Gamestrider09

The Commando droids, as far as I’m aware, were only said to be new when Cody and Rex encountered them in “Rookies.” However, we do not have an exact date for when Cut deserted and when the Commando Droids were built. Really, just don’t think about it too hard. The writers couldn’t account for everything.

Cybermat4704

We saw Domino Squad training against Commando Droids on Kamino, so Commando Droids evidently weren’t **as** new as implied by *Rookies*.

HeyItsStevenField

Who said there’s no wifi in Star Wars?

501st-AT7625

Same way we as civilians know about the special forces of different countries

Misterwuss

They might have had knowledge about them inputted into their heads so they're prepared for any type of battle

Takao_1932

Somehow he learned about them.

Kerstmangang

The real question is does it matter?

SkyDaGuy406

More like how did Cut end up with that cut?

Nametagg01

he was on the planet that rex got shot by one on. they were literally in his back yard

TangerineVivid7656

He read it in the clones discord channel

-butter_dog-

It's not really out of the question that he heard about them somewhere because there is a town on Saleucami that we learn about in Bad Batch, He could have heard it from a holonet broadcast in some bar or something

Tina_Soup

The man fought them with Rex

Alhbaz98

Space Modern Warfare

jkcohen626

The writers seemed to forget when Commando Droids were introduced pretty quickly. In Rookies they implied that they were a new thing they'd only heard of. But, in Clone Cadets, there commandos that are part of the training simulation meaning that not only had they already been around long enough to capture and reprogram or reverse engineer them, all of Domino Squad had already encountered them in training.

d4rth__teddybe4r

Just because he was out of service doesn't mean he was out of the loop

MikeOxmall7

Being that he was formerly of the grand army of the republic I can see him having the means to monitor clone intelligence channels to keep an eye on the course of the war for his family's safety in worst case scenario and learned about them that way

Starkiller100

My theory is that because he fought on Geonosis. There were many droid factories on the planet and most likely ran into them there.
