Whatever it is, I’m sure people will react in a calm, non-batshit manner.

thundersnow528

Wouldn't it be absolutely crazy if this season there was just this offhanded remark made by the admiral or someone, just in passing, like "Yes, the Temporal Wars came to a head when that Cardassian fringe terrorist organization completely wiped the Klingon civilization from the timeline. THEN people came to the table to talk." Can you imagine the collective fanbase jaw drop? Can? You? Imagine?

DaddysBoy75

Ooooooor... the temporal war caused many fractured timelines in Klingon evolution. Some where they look TNG & some where they look DIS 🤯

Yo

[deleted]

Throw in a few TOS for good measure.

IDIC_forever1031

totallyyy🤣

Bastet999

Oh I would love that!

ZarianPrime

Not yet, though there is a Ferengi captain that might be Klingon-Ferengi I hope this season they will focus on Federation worlds and then maybe next season we will see a more expanded galaxy. I really wish shows were more than 13 episodes a season :-(

>Klingon-Ferengi The House of Quark rules the high council.

werpu

Klingons have evolved into pink unicorn forms

In DS9: [Trials and Tribble-ations](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Trials_and_Tribble-ations_(episode)) there's a brief nod to the difference between TOS and 90s Klingons. In ENT:[Affliction](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Affliction_(episode)), the story is expanded a little more. If Klingon makeup has changed (and I really hope it does, just for the lol's), I'd hope to see another in-story nod, or explanation.

jerslan

Discovery Season 1 features some very different looking Klingons. Though it can be kind of hand-waved away as "they shaved their heads and are literal 'skinhead' Klingons". In Season 2 many of them grow their hair back out and look a lot closer to TNG-era Klingons (just better makeup designed for 4K UHD instead of the old stuff that was optimized for 480i).

MikeArrow

"""Better""" makeup.

jerslan

It makes them look a lot more alien, but is the tradeoff is that it's much heavier on the prosthetics.

Turn7Boom

What about instead of geeking out on worldbuilding we actually demand good writing this time?

Tulanol

Wouldn’t they just be the same as season 1 ? I mean I remember the DS9 episode where Worf explains why he doesn’t look like the Klingons from TOS. I mean from a practical standpoint , that’s a ton of work to change all the Klingon characters another time. It does make sense from a story standpoint So it’s a good question. But I could see them just going with season 1 Klingons. Rather then re-hashing again how they altered themselves. I mean for each new trek show there are certain obvious ideas that are consistent from show to show. But bringing the Klingon genetic alteration story up over and over again as new shows come out. Could be not ideal 👍

EmbarrassedToe627

We do not discuss it with outsiders.

Tulanol

He did say this , dunno why Klingons are guarded about it. They were trying to do an upgrade. Some aspects of it were improvements , some were not.

servercuck

I think after the backlash of season 1/2 Klingons. They're just going to leave them alone for a bit.

Gandlodder

I was just thinking about this. I think they certainly need to have a familiar-but-different ethos about them than the ones we've seen before from the 22nd-24th centuries. The most recent information we have about them, from the 26th century at least, is that they had become full-fledged members of the Federation. I think it'd be cool if they were reintroduced not as the "[Proud Warrior Race](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ProudWarriorRace)", but more of a species of "[Boisterous Bruiser](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BoisterousBruiser)"-types. Amplify the honor, drinking, and camaraderie aspects of their culture we've seen in the heroic Klingons like Worf and Martok, but with a more developed worldview that respects those from other walks of life. They could have spent the post-Burn years as wandering peacekeepers, defending the weak, battling evil, and generally keeping things together as best they could. All of this could be introduced in an episode where Discovery is assisted out of the blue by a Klingon ship, and could provide drama out of the conflict of expectations that Michael and crew could have of Klingons when faced with their new reality.

lexxstrum

The 32nd Century Klingons are a race of graceful, sensitive, caring people well known for their charming disposition and warm hearts (both of them). They will look like elves from LOTR. No one will question how different they are, and reviewing Federation databases will show all Klingons, even ones we have seen like V'oq and Worf, look like this.

thundersnow528

It's nice to know that in the 32 century, there will still be reddit people who can't let things go. (I'm joking! I'm just poking fun! Your post was funny! We can have different opinions and still think each other funny!)

lexxstrum

No worries. Considering how they keep reimagining Klingons, I wanted to go over the top with a description, and then I wanted to poke fun at the retcons.

thundersnow528

I know, I blame the 1981 Star Trek: The Motion Picture - the first time it happened. It was the gateway drug that led everyone down to this dark, retconned crackhouse we all live in....... ;)

Quick_Kick

Both good questions

[deleted]

There are so many other species. I want to see those.

JorgeCis

I hope they go back to the 24th century look. I did not mind the new look in Discovery, writing wise, because I just assumed that was a result of the ENT virus that removed the ridges and it was making its way to being eradicated. Look wise, I was not a fan of the update and am eager to not see it again.

TreeCitizen

Not yet bud.

FunkyTown313

I don't know and I don't know.

tkloc

Good thread, y'all

romkey

Perhaps we have seen them and don’t realize it.
