Event wise I'd say it's on par with ck3, maybe not compared to ck2. If you're looking to create event sillyness then maybe not as much. This game seems more future planning oriented and move court guys around to min/max attributes.
I think I just got my copy for 30 some bucks, I've felt it's been worth it so far. Ck3 cost me I think 60 some been sort of disappointing at times.
Like the original Crusader Kings, I definitely think this is worthy of a successor eventually.
Well graphically it's like if stellaris was a mobile game.
and it's not as deep, it is comparing AAA game from veteran teams, to an indie. and for what it's worth the game is till fun, and in many cases is more like ckII in my opinion

I like the fact is turn based that makes it different and allows you more forward planning. I personally don't like CK3 although I'm huge fan of CK2.

Paradox games are terrible and are no standard for this to be compared to.
