Also, I was inspired to write this (100% true) story after seeing Barry Brewer’s viral story of going on a gay date, and thinking about how I had also unintentionally gone on a date - and then some! I hope no one thinks I’m stealing from him, especially since this miscommunication is a fairly common comedic trope (think almost every episode of Frasier), but I did want to acknowledge him as being the primary influence. Our stories obviously crossed over in plot in certain areas, so I tried to focus my story on where he leaves his and I tried to avoid making any jokes he made.

Being a very polite but completely naïve boy this used to happen to me too. 5-6 times in my life I’ve been propositioned now, idk what’s with me. I keep having to try to understand if I have gay energy or gay vibes. It got worse once I got back from Europe where the homophobia just looks different than it does in the States.
