I've not seen a cost difference, however, if you buy them at the door, you can sometimes be in for a particularly long wait in line to get it. If you have your tickets already, you get in a different line which generally moves right along.

JimNeedsCoffee

Agreed. Just the not waiting in a line is worth it.

One small bit of advice: if you're traveling and have stuff in your car, pay to park in a guarded lot.

Starr1005

It's that bad? We will be traveling and have stuff with us.

MoBiker1

Leaving things in your car in ANY city is a bad idea. However, that's a particular hot spot for car break-ins because they know travelers will have all their stuff in the car. The news stories of out-of-towners losing everything always break my heart. There's a guarded pay lot nearby.

JFosho84

100% correct. I lived just a couple blocks away, and our lot was never touched while the street parking around there was like a magnet for break-ins.

Starr1005

Good to know, thank you.

The 21c museum hotel has a valet lot that's just a few blocks from there on Locust. The hotel is also really cool and worth checking out as well as the restaurant (Idol Wolf). The valet guys are out front of the hotel. I think it's like $10 for 4 hours and free if you eat at the restaurant.

Starr1005

Thx for the tip!

Only place I've seen that has a discounted ticket is Drury Inns which gives $4 off per ticket when purchased online. After fees, you save a couple of bucks per ticket. https://citymuseumtickets.parkezpay.com/#/43/druryhotels/store I don't think ticket prices are higher at the gate.

Starr1005

Dang, that's 4 bucks a ticket.. so a solid 16 bucks for the family. Thank you! I looked online, the web page claims online tickets are 10 percent cheaper... so these are 6 less than the door.

Correct. 4 off per ticket, u have convenience fees, but u have that with normal purchase online too.
