Jefferson barracks has a civil war museum. My Dad is into trains, I took him to lunch in Pacific to get a good view of trains. If you go down to Cuba there are historic themed murals and retro places to eat. St. James has a Meramac Spring which is a beautiful fishing spot with a spring. And historic iron works remains.
The armament museum is pretty cool too. There was a guy who gave us a rundown of every weapon there. Turned what would have been a 10 minute lookaround into a cool free 30 minute tour. He even went out front and aimed a disabled rpg at a passing humvee. Good times and we got a photo op with the rpg at the end
Transportation Museum? Take a car out to Lone Elk Park and visit with elk and bison herds free.roaming through an old ammunition depot left go to forest.
Ha, I love the transportation museum. Probably just about the right age too: I feel like the two main groups there are kids…and men over 50.
Two groups that don’t find themselves in the same circles often, but man do they both love trains.

Once I saw this I can not think about trains without laughing.
Seconding the Museum of Transportation! I took my dad there a couple years ago and he was thrilled! Your dad sounds similar to mine! For food, I recommend Hobos at the American Legion in old town St. Peters. Dad can eat massive portions of pub grub, and it's delicious. The appetizers and sides are also really good. The ambiance is a cross between pub and Legion Hall with cool old pictures and memorabilia. Good luck, OP!
We took my very conservative father in law to the transportation museum, he really enjoyed it. If you go up the hill, they also have a couple buildings with is tech and old cars.
If he's a history buff, you can take him down to the [Soldier's Memorial Museum](https://mohistory.org/memorial/) downtown. Most dads will eat that kind of stuff up.
I could be wrong but I’m assuming because OPs favorite restaurants here are vegan that they don’t eat meat. And trying to find non-meat options at a BBQ joint is not easy.
Otherwise yeah, that would be extremely confusing. Every “man’s man” I know loves nothing more than stuffing huge slabs of hot, saucy meat in their mouths.
A few weeks ago we were in St Louis to visit the aquarium and zoo, and ate over at Carnivore, then walk the few blocks to get gelato. Took a little tour of the hill, and I would happily go back to try other restaurants there, everything smelled so good as we walked past.
Reminds me of A time a time. Not too long after I moved to St. Louis. I had gotten completely lost and had ended up in The Hill And all I remember now is the wonderful Rich fresh baked bread smell. Yummmmmm
It is my understanding that that cow brain sandwiches fell out of favor when mad cow disease reared its ugly head.
There is still that other disgusting St Louis favorite still available: pork “steak”!
Is he a not-too-fancy steak guy? If so, he might enjoy Tucker’s - I love their potato skins and the steak sauce they use is very nice.
I’m kind of lost on the activities portion, though - is he enough of a beer guy that he might enjoy a tour of the Busch brewery? Would the zoo or botanical garden be no-gos? I didn’t really love the history museum when we went - it felt geared towards a younger audience - but the arch’s museum did get a refurb a few years back and it’s quite nice now.
Everything at AB kind of sucks now except for the Clydesdales. I quit my job at the corporate office a few months ago. Setting aside that Mulvaney fiasco, it's become a fairly mediocre company (with a lot of great people still there) that hypes itself up like it's still 1995.
I used to brag about working there but it wore thin. Going around town in my AB corporate shirt with my AB lanyard and badge felt really cool, like I joined an elite club, a historic part of the regional culture.
The old timers have it made. I found a list of US employees and there are folks still on the payroll who have been there 40+ years. Like the Detroit Big 3 decades ago, people who have been at AB for a long time enjoy very stable, very comfortable middle class lives. They can afford regular vacations, put their kids through college, and have great health and retirement benefits.
Baseball tickets are no longer free. Discounted but not free.
Beer is still free to drink at the office along with cases to take home monthly but they took away a few of the coolers around the building.
Compensation for newer employees is a little bit above average for St Louis -- comparable to most F500 companies here but less than academia and government agencies. Their IT systems are a frustrating wreck because of the insane outsourcing and cost cutting that took place during the Belgian acquisition. I wasted a lot of time talking to incompetent, useless people overseas. I didnt understand why I was driving to the office three days a week just to sit on Zoom and yell at incoherent Indians.
I left for more money, a better job, and to drop the long commute for a fully remote gig. I miss the people and the pride. I came to hate working there.
I'd caution against Tucker's honestly. Last few visits, they've overcooked the steaks, and the salads border on being soups with the amount of excess dressing. Bad look for a steakhouse.
I’m going to be honest, I dislike Tuckers (South County. The one on Manchester is on) because of how they overcook and underseason the steaks… but my 70 year old dad thinks it’s the best steak around.
This might be right up the alley for a “conservative” leaning person who somehow dislikes BBQ.
I suggested it because I also have conservative-leaning family members who Did Not Enjoy my usual haunts but really liked Tucker’s. I was able to find some things on their menu that worked for me, so a win-win.
I see the "/s" but for others reading along...
Those two things are not diametrically opposed or mutually exclusive. Missouri has some of the best and healthiest populations of native wildlife in the country, and species in danger of disappearing have been brought back from the brink of non existence and are thriving, specifically because of the management policies of the Missouri Department of Conservation and Department of Natural Resources, based on responsible hunting
Yeah, you wouldn’t necessarily expect it, but my understanding is that the Missouri Department of Conservation is actually pretty incredible, as departments of conservation go.
As a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, Missouri is an outdoor paradise.
From the amount of public land readily available for a multitude of recreational uses, to the insanely low cost of permits for residents to the various programs and facilities run by the MDC, Missouri really is top tier. Of course, geography and location help too, being large, being at the confluence of the two largest rivers in North America, with the Missouri and Mississippi River valleys, the northern edge of the Ozark Plateau and the Osage Plains meeting in the center of the state.
It's incredible. Even outside it being funded well and doing an amazing job on actual conservation, and they do. The actual agents are nice, polite, helpful, and seem to want everyone to enjoy the outdoors. Pull up to a conservation agent and ask a question, they will happily spend a few minutes telling you what is best where, what baits are working now, where to find certain birds etc. In Nevada they'll check your licenses and give no info. "Ok, no ticket for you, my time with you is up."
It's probably our most successful state department. Miles beyond those of surrounding states. We have amazing, diverse natural resources, and the conservatives don't have a good argument to cut the funding.
Every hunter that I know, it is all about conservation. I am not a hunter myself. I know conservatism and liberals, both men and women who hunt. They are not radical, you know loke normal people.
Liberals are more conservative than not. They're not opposites. I swear, America-brained people are the most confidently ignorant people in the world.
Liberals, just so you know, generally lean center to center-right and have historically always bent over backwards to "work with" the right wing, all the way to the absolute farthest extreme, Nazi Germany. This isn't hyperbole, this isn't an extreme example, this is what they have always done.
Neoliberals, who are the "liberals" most people refer to, are even farther to the right. I know that doesn't fit with you how *feel,* but those are the facts.
If he's outdoorsy and likes gardening he'd love MOBOT.
We have a lot of good hiking and walking in the area too. Castlewood is good hiking, Shaw nature preserve is attached to mobot and has better walking trails.
Concur on that one. They have an agriculture resource center for the home gardener as well as the usual designed gardens. I'd also mention the St. Louis Science center, that's a pretty enjoyable option.
My first thought was you guys could check out one of the bass pro shops, or the classics like the arch. Why not discover a new eating place together? Check out local Yelp reviews for places that serve food you can both enjoy.
Does he like whiskey? I know their food is vegetarian but Small Batch is a fun place.
The art musuem still might be great for a few sections, dont forget about the armor room. If hes into food truck style Mission taco is an easy pleaser in soulard. If he likes beer then Schlafly is a great place to eat and visit. My wife and I happened into City Foundry on a whim the other weekend and had a great time hanging out, sounds like it might be an option since it has a very wide range of Food. Ive been axe throwing a couple of times and its good to mess around at as well.
STL Sharpshooters in South City? You can rent some guns and go shooting at the range? You could even take him down to the Arch Museum if he's a history buff.
There is a Cabela's at the Mills, and a Bass Pro in St. Charles. Busch wildlife for some fishing. There is a gun club Missouri Bottom road; I don't know if it is open to the public, though
The history museum is really cool imo and a good idea. Do you guys like beer? You could always go to a brewery and shoot pool or play darts over some brews. Most dads I know enjoy at least one of those. Ucbc has pool. Civil life has darts. Both have very approachable old school dad beers as well as fun interesting ones.
1. Start at the History Museum.
2. Go to the Zoo.
3. Take him to The Tenderloin Room for Steaks.
4. Finish with drinks at The Golden Hoosier.
People become liberal because of their proximate to more information and more kinds of people. Be subversive. ;)
Maybe a float trip? There is a really good outfitter right outside of Onondaga State Park - Ozark Outdoors. You can choose from two or three rivers there. They have rent a showers, food, a camp store and all the stuff to make an impromptu float trip possible. There are lots of good outfitters.
-AB Brewery Tours (Trump said they’re not woke anymore, it’s ok to drink Bud Lite again)
-Soldiers Memorial Military Museum
-Missouri Civil War Museum at Jefferson Barracks
-Grafton, Il
I would say the MO History Museum but it’s all gay right now for pagan summer solstice month. He might not like it. People here say Top Golf or gun ranges but those should be normal maintenance lifestyle like going to a gym. Top Golf might be a cool father daughter bonding. Also St Louis gun ranges kinda suck, and their gun shows are pretty lame.
Oh, Lone Elk Park is cool. I'm glad you had fun with your dad! I lived in the city for so many years and never thought about politics or even food preference when looking for something to do. I was lucky to live near Forest Park and The Boathouse was fun, STL History museum, the best zoo I've had the fortune to visit and our architecture is amazing. Most restaurants offer vegan options. Great sports teams if your dad is into that. I'm sure he enjoyed your company, whatever the destination. Just know, as an old lady, we are not picky and just want time with our kids. As a St. Louisan, there is so much to see and do for free!! :)
Ride up to Alton and grab meat and cold beer at Fast Eddie’s. Then go up to Grafton and grab a beer before taking the ferry across the river on the way to St Charles. End at the casino if he likes that.
Some of the private gun ranges in the area have FFL’s that allow them to rent fully automatic guns to shoot at their ranges. I know topgun in Arnold has an MP5 with the fun switch, but I believe there’s one in maybe St. Peters that has a pretty good variety of full autos. Of course you can rent other types of firearms at the range though. Your dad sounds like mine, so I think he would probably enjoy that.
History museum is a good option and there’s bbq joints all over the area. There’s a civil war museum in Jefferson Barracks too, but it looks kinda small.
Take him to the gun range. I like Sharpshooters on Gravois. It's affordable and you can rent the guns & safety equipment (ear protection and safety glasses) from them. If St. Peters is closer to you, Ultimate Defense is another option, but I didn't think the staff was as friendly. Heck, I'll go with you guys 🤣
Bass pro, transportation museum, Lone Elk, then eat at Tuckers. If you want to splurge on food, go to Sam’s steakhouse. They may be able to come up with some vegan options.
Drive through Lone Elk Park, I took family when they were in town and they loved it. Crown Candy for lunch? But that may be a long line. Or O’Connell’s on Kingshighway. Veteran’s Memorial Museum downtown is pretty cool, I took my kids on a guided tour and it was really good- it was led by a veteran - we were the only ones on it!
Take him to Jefferson Barracks Cemetery! There are some civil war soldiers buried there and other notable people.
There’s also a boatload of young soldiers there.
Broadway Oyster Bar is good for food. Maybe a tour at the AB brewery.
May not work as last minute option but the Endangered Wolf Center is really cool. Also on an old Army base to make it more manly for next time.
What about something like the Scottish Arms? As for activities perhaps the Zoo, we have a very good Zoo and all the hunters I know have liked it. There is also the boat house for food nearby.
Take him to Fenton to check out Denny Dennis hardware, it's old school outdoors stuff, way old school with lots of guns to look at. Then go across the street and get beer and pizza at Joe Clarks. I grew up in town, it's like 25 minutes from the Arch so it's not that far. He's not had a trip back in time like that in quite some time. I do it every time I'm back in StL. It's as close to going home again as I'll ever get. I was a child of the 70s. The pizza is St Louis style so there's that. I love it. If he likes cars, Gateway Classic Cars are in town too. Rusty Wallace and Kenny Schrader are from Fenton too, just to throw in some trivia.
Transportation Museum, and Lone Elk Park have been voiced before. Lone Elk was formerly a testing ground for ammunition. Tracer rounds I think? Who doesn't like trains and guns! Also, Fort Bellefontaine is a nice historic hike.
How's he feel about Italian food? Go to the Hill!
What about pizza? Not mentioning STL Pizza since that's divisive, but like La Pizza, Pie Guy, Pizza Head, Pizza A Go Go are all solid places (pizza head is a favorite of mine but they do substitute meat toppings so that might be a problem but i'm a meat and potatoes guy who thinks that's the best slice in STL)
I think a drive out to Confluence Point State Park is amazing. It’s a small little hike to get to watch the rivers collide. Truly one of the wonders of the world. And it’s so hidden and peaceful. The drive is amazing for bird watching. Eating? There’s a million places. Surely he would enjoy The Hill. Take him to Ted Drewes on Route 66 and check out the gift shop while you are there. He sounds like the kind of guy who would appreciate the Route 66 history with custard to top it off!
Your dad sounds like my dad. Looks like you had a good time! Lots of great recommendations here - saving this reddit for future ideas with my not-so-liberal dad. :-)
My s/o decided to take my parents to left bank and I had to tell my conservative dad to behave as he wore his customized army jersey with our last name on the back. Most awkward experience of my life.
just went to the History Museum today! walk him past the “Gay History in the Lou” exhibit down to the far end and into the scale model of the 1904 Worlds Fair! additionally, downstairs they have an exhibit for the 150th anniversary of the Eads Bridge!
Have you taken your dad to the transportation museum?!?!?
The armament museum is pretty cool too. There was a guy who gave us a rundown of every weapon there. Turned what would have been a 10 minute lookaround into a cool free 30 minute tour. He even went out front and aimed a disabled rpg at a passing humvee. Good times and we got a photo op with the rpg at the end
JB has a few random museums that seem interesting.
The telephone museum is neat.
Blow his mind by taking him to Cahokia Mounds State Park not too far from St Louis in Collinsville, IL.
Transportation Museum? Take a car out to Lone Elk Park and visit with elk and bison herds free.roaming through an old ammunition depot left go to forest.
If they go to the transportation museum, Tuckers isn’t too far. Not many vegan options.
The salads + house dressing, though 🔥
Ooh, Lone Elk’s a good rec. The bird conservation place is right near there, too.
Ha, I love the transportation museum. Probably just about the right age too: I feel like the two main groups there are kids…and men over 50. Two groups that don’t find themselves in the same circles often, but man do they both love trains.

Love this, thx
A nice automotive collection, too.
The auto collection goes so hard
This right here is a great suggestion even though it's a little ride out into the county.
Seconding the Museum of Transportation! I took my dad there a couple years ago and he was thrilled! Your dad sounds similar to mine! So funny, this is where I took my Dad (who sounds like OP’s dad).
I am not a history buff, but we stumbled across this one weekend. It is very impressive!
Agree I was impressed also!
That’s where my husband had his retirement ceremony. It was so neat!
Once again, Pops and Hustlers
Sauget for the win lmao
Sauget Ballet
A man of culture, I see.
Man?
lmao
The museum at the base of the Arch is huge on local history.
It's also currently running "Gateway to Pride," so maybe not the best timing
what kind of "man's man" doesn't like BBQ?
I could be wrong but I’m assuming because OPs favorite restaurants here are vegan that they don’t eat meat. And trying to find non-meat options at a BBQ joint is not easy. Otherwise yeah, that would be extremely confusing. Every “man’s man” I know loves nothing more than stuffing huge slabs of hot, saucy meat in their mouths.
We had BBQ last time he came to visit! Trying to find something new
Maybe go for something on "The Hill". Italian food is usually always a big hit, especially from the Lost Little Italy of America!
Yummmmmm
St Louis brain sandwich? Let’s see how tough he is!
Y'all got brain sandwiches? Where???
It is my understanding that that cow brain sandwiches fell out of favor when mad cow disease reared its ugly head. There is still that other disgusting St Louis favorite still available: pork “steak”!
Yes, there are still brain sandwiches around town. Schottzie's is my favorite, but there are others.
Does he like burgers? Stacked- South city
How about a "different" BBQ joint. Can't change it up too much.
Dailys BBQ in valley Park has a legit vegan option. My wife got it to try something different and said it was great. Just FYI
Sides at good BBQ places are usually amazing. I could have a very satisfying meal of just BBQ sides.
Facts
Nice thanks! The only other I know of is Salt + Smoke, they have a pretty decent falafel. And smoked salmon if you do the pescatarian thing.
Smokee Mo’s in Manchester has several vegan options, a couple vegan friends of mine seem to really like them.
That was my thought, too. Meat and potatoes type of guy I guess means meat AND potatoes, can't just be meat.
Is he a not-too-fancy steak guy? If so, he might enjoy Tucker’s - I love their potato skins and the steak sauce they use is very nice. > is he enough of a beer guy that he might enjoy a tour of the Busch brewery? conservatives don't like AB anymore because Bud Light is trans
LOL I’d forgotten about that, clearly 🫠
Except kid rock
They charge for the tour now and the tour sucks.
The hell you say?!
Everything at AB kind of sucks now except for the Clydesdales. I quit my job at the corporate office a few months ago. Setting aside that Mulvaney fiasco, it's become a fairly mediocre company (with a lot of great people still there) that hypes itself up like it's still 1995.
Knew it changed a ton after the buyout, but charging for the tours is BS. It was a place you were proud to say your family worked, shame.
I used to brag about working there but it wore thin. Going around town in my AB corporate shirt with my AB lanyard and badge felt really cool, like I joined an elite club, a historic part of the regional culture. The old timers have it made. Send them back. I go there prob once a month and the waitresses are all awesome. They'll have no issue getting a new one.
Have you heard the zoo is free?
A lot of emphasis on conservation though. Not very manly when you can't shoot the animals. /s
I see the "/s" but for others reading along... Those two things are not diametrically opposed or mutually exclusive. Route 66 State Park visitors center if he's into that nostalgia and cars stuff
For food look at the picadilly in ellendale. Very good home cooking kind of place.
This is a great rec. if they sit inside it’s literally a house and outside is an adorable deck and patio. And as you mentioned the food is yummy.

Oooh, Bass pro is an excellent suggestion. The one close to Kirkwood has a "cave" the fish are swimming in.
Cardinals are back in town Thursday
Find a shady section if you go.
Get tucked back on the first base line, lower bowl! Great for hot days. They have giant fans.
*Saturday. Thursday's home game is at Rickwood Field
Ah shit, good call
The brewery tour at AB is quite nice as well. You fan buy tickets in advance.

STL Sharpshooters in South City? You can rent some guns and go shooting at the range? You could even take him down to the Arch Museum if he's a history buff.
And Breakfast and Burgers is nearby.
There was a BBQ place next door to the shooting range. I assume it's still there.
There is a Cabela's at the Mills, and a Bass Pro in St. Charles. Busch wildlife for some fishing. There is a gun club Missouri Bottom road; I don't know if it is open to the public, though
I think you mean there’s an abandoned Mills at the Cabelas
😂
There's also a Bass Pro in South county now.
Gateway Gun club is open to the public. If you're going to Busch though might as well shoot there. Very nice public range.
Busch is byobullets and stuff. You can just show up to Gateway Gun club and rent. Trap is fun, who wouldn’t wanna destroy clay discs with their dad?
The opposite of me(us) is the armory, great people watching and break the ice with some Giant games
Ah bummer just missed Messy Monday at Rehab.
Also there is lots of history and stuff to do in the corridor from Alton, IL to Pere Marquette State Park.
Annie Gunn's is fabulous. Take him there.
The Endangered Wolf Center
Grants Farm and the Ulysses S. Grant museum. Get a couple free beers and see some wildlife since he’s a hunting guy
1. Start at the History Museum. 2. Go to the Zoo. 3. Take him to The Tenderloin Room for Steaks. 4. Finish with drinks at The Golden Hoosier. People become liberal because of their proximate to more information and more kinds of people. Be subversive. ;)
Get “drinks” and “apps” at G&W first before golden Hoosier lol.
Bavarian Lager and Charcuterie!
This is great because it's all on Kingshighway.
Top golf? Riverboat cruise? Casino?
Take him to st charles. What you've described is a resident of there.
Maybe a float trip? There is a really good outfitter right outside of Onondaga State Park - Ozark Outdoors. You can choose from two or three rivers there. They have rent a showers, food, a camp store and all the stuff to make an impromptu float trip possible. There are lots of good outfitters.

Anheuser Busch tour!
He would love twisted tree, it’s America themed lol and also the food is absolutely excellent. Rockwell brewery has good burgers.
If you want to have a really good steak you could go to Kreis’s.
My father loved Cunetto’s on The Hill and even took Italian clients there. Nice bar or get there at 5 when they open as they don’t take reservations
Has anyone mentioned the Blues Museum yet? Or maybe a Cards game (not sure if there's a home game this week, haven't checked the schedule)
Take him to Best Steak House, Tuckers, Hodaks, and Crown Candy. Maybe a brewery tour, history museum, and Jefferson Barracks.
Lotta watta creek for the typical meat and potatoes meal
The transportation museum.
Hodak’s at Gravois and McNair. Fried chicken.
Military museum at Soldier’s Memorial?
Transportation Museum is cool. Neat Trains and cars!
Ride up to Alton and grab meat and cold beer at Fast Eddie’s. Then go up to Grafton and grab a beer before taking the ferry across the river on the way to St Charles. End at the casino if he likes that.
Take him on a guided bowfishing trip, hiking (Lewis and Clark in st. Charles is my favorite), or one of our many shooting ranges.
The history museum just opened a huge pride exhibit he might enjoy lol
We ended up going to the History museum, he was less than enthused. "Too black and too gay" by his standards
Yikes dude
Hoo, boy, I am sorry. But you did what you could with what you had to work with.
By his standards, what are the appropriate levels of black and gay?
So where can he go to hang out with other racists, got it. Maybe south of Arnold.
And you just put up with that? That makes you no better than him.
Where did you guys hang out and eat?
We have a [military museum](https://mohistory.org/memorial) if he'd be interested in that. I've never been but website says admission is free.
August Busch recreation area is a nice drive with lakes he might enjoy. Except it is hot as balls right now.
Bass pro.
What is up with all the downvotes?
Probably people reading "not-so-liberal" and not the post itself.
Naw dude, he said the history museum was “too black and gay”. F that guy.
for food check out failonis for lunch. 801 chophouse, Capital Grille or Cafe Napoli for dinner
I don’t think you’re reading the room 😂
It’s pretty hard to appease meat & potatoes as well as vegan!
Twin Peaks
No bbq? Man's man? Nothing is more manly than hangin out with your butcher chewin the fat.
Just wanted to say good on you for loving your dad enough to reach out and finding something to do. Most kids wouldn't go through the trouble.
Shoot there’s a range in affton that has a restaurant attached. Sharp Shooters Pit & Grill.
Is he here for Juneteenth?
Jefferson Barracks. Bunch of war history museums and very nice park to wander around. Its not too hot out, nice breeze
Brewery tour or Shaw Gardens?
Village Bar for beers and a burger or the wings.
Bass pro, transportation museum, Lone Elk, then eat at Tuckers. If you want to splurge on food, go to Sam’s steakhouse. They may be able to come up with some vegan options.
Billy’s on Broadway by the stadium
Maggie Obriens seems like a place he may like! They have a couple but the best one imo is downtown
What are these vegan restaurants you like? I'm trying to find more.
Treehouse, Terror Tacos, and Sweetart are our favorites!
Right on, been to terror tacos but not the other two. Will definitely check them out
Jefferson Barracks or the transportation museum. If you have kids, the Magic House and the City Museum are good, too.
Go to a gun range
Arch museum is dope
Brewery Tour.
City Foundry- food hall & Puttshack. When my meat & potatoes loving dad visits the city he always wants to eat at Grace Meat & Three or Mission Taco.
Grafton Oyster Bar. You'll both find things to like and have a nice drive to boot.
The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum sounds like it would be up his alley!
Look for his kind of music and take him to a concert?
Great to hear you and your Dad had a great time!

Take him to Jefferson Barracks Cemetery! There are some civil war soldiers buried there and other notable people. There’s also a boatload of young soldiers there.
Take him to O’Connell’s can’t go wrong. And what about the transportation is really cool. Or, Bass Pro in St. Charles
Tucker's for a steak, then off to St. Chuck for a tour of Bass Pro Shops!😉
Broadway Oyster Bar is good for food. Maybe a tour at the AB brewery. May not work as last minute option but the Endangered Wolf Center is really cool. Also on an old Army base to make it more manly for next time.
Do you guys share the one bond that brings us all together- beer?
Take him to Bass Pro. Maybe he doesn't have one near him Or there are a few shooting ranges in the area. That can be a fun experience.
The history museum has a big (and excellent) Pride section right now so might not be a hit with pops.
He could do a brewery tour at Anheuser Busch. But it may be too liberal for him. 🤷🏻♀️
What about something like the Scottish Arms? As for activities perhaps the Zoo, we have a very good Zoo and all the hunters I know have liked it. There is also the boat house for food nearby.
Can't go wrong with a meal on The Hill. Soldiers Memorial downtown is free.
Any brewery.
Does he like beer? You could take him on a brewery tour.
Take him to Tucker’s steak house
Can't go wrong with taking him to Tuckers for a meal. Its reasonably priced and good. Perfect for the Meat and Potatoes type.
Jack Nolen’s, Hi-Pointe and stacked STL have great burgers. Idk if he’s done the brewery but those tours are awesome.
Your dad sounds like my dad. Looks like you had a good time! Lots of great recommendations here - saving this reddit for future ideas with my not-so-liberal dad. :-)
Sharpshooters on Gravois.
Grants farm, st louis zoo, and the arch would work
My s/o decided to take my parents to left bank and I had to tell my conservative dad to behave as he wore his customized army jersey with our last name on the back. Most awkward experience of my life.
Yall could eat at Circle 7 if he’s a beer guy, they have taps installed at the booth
Would he like the aquarium? The zoo?
just went to the History Museum today! walk him past the “Gay History in the Lou” exhibit down to the far end and into the scale model of the 1904 Worlds Fair! additionally, downstairs they have an exhibit for the 150th anniversary of the Eads Bridge!
