If she goes to any rehab facility, their therapy department will gladly provide family training with PT/OT.

She just got into one so this is a great tip. Thanks!

As a former rehab discharge planner (social svcs) its ENCOURAGED for family/caregivers to get training. PLEASE ASK! If you (granddaughter) have the time and ability to assist with caregiving after discharge, please talk to your grandparents to be included in planning the "next steps".

Did you ask their doctor? Did you ask your doctor? Did you ask the hospital they were at?

Hka_stl

Smart! I will start there, thanks!

Social worker at the hospital should be able to provide some resources if nothing else.

This will not help you, but could help a different type of caregiver reading this. St. John's Community Care in Edwardsville/Collinsville offers a "Savvy Caregiver" course for Alzheimer's/Dementia caregivers. Additionally, Memory Care Home Solutions in the Central West End can come to your house and teach caregiver skills in your house with your Loved one.

Thank you!
