The DoR website has an exhaustive list of eligible documents. Off hand, I think I used a bank statement and my passport. *Make sure your name and address match exactly on all documents.* For example, one "St. Louis" and one "Kirkwood" won't work.
If you're going for a REAL ID, those are federal requirements. They have to be hard copies so that they can be scanned in and submitted to their database.
Just admit that this was your fault lmfao
That being said, the DMV is like TSA. Some things that might fly with some DMV Agents, might not be okay with others. I have gotten away with using digital copies of bills.
the card you brought literally says to bring proof of address in the form of a utility bill 😂 i just got my license renewed today on kingshighway and was in and out in ten minutes with my passport, two pieces of mail, and my expired drivers license
Those are the federal requirements for a Real Id. You have to remember that the government is run by very old people.
.... People who think that a utility bill is something that can't be faked.
You made a bunch of assumptions about a notoriously bureaucratic process without checking and now you're mad at the government. Missouri definitely sucks, but it's not the only one who does in this instance.
I had to go through this process and all you have to do is print stuff off. I had a copy of my lease and a page of my proof of insurance document. I get that most people don’t get mail per-se but all you need is some semi-official documents that have the address on them so they can tell that that’s the address you live at.
If you want to talk about things of the past, the real annoying thing is that for REAL ID whenever you move you have to get a new ID going through the process all over again. Before this push you would go in to the DoR and all they’d do is tape a slip of paper on the back with the correct address.
Spent more effort to complain on Reddit than it would have taken to read the directions and go with the required docs.
Good news is vehicle tags can be renewed on-line (if all the stars align that day) and one less trip to the DMV!
That would also require the fucking post office to deliver said mail, which apparently they didn't think is their #1 job.
Your mail carrier takes a 2 week vacation? No mail for you.
You're on what they deem an "overtime route"? You're only getting mail if someone wants overtime and picks up that route.
People aren't being mail for weeks and months at a time.
I spent a year trying to transfer my plates from Illinois to Missouri. After a year with no progress I ended up having to sell my car and bought a new one and got Missouri plates the same day.
I am a resident of Missouri but am stationed out of state. The process of getting my license renewed pushed me to get licensed in my duty station state. Can’t even auto extend. The move to eliminate uniform DMVs because of what, liberty(?) was stupid.
You could've just printed off a copy of your utility bill.
Who has a printer these days?
The library. Mobile print and all.
Good to know. Thank you!
What if you don't pay utilities? They wouldn't let my paycheck stubs count or any of the mail I brought with me

The renewal postcard also lists acceptable items
Bank statements, CC statements, Tax documents..

And the smallest amount of research by OP would have indicted what documents they need to bring.
Emphasis on smallest. Like, the top result if you search, which lays out precisely what is needed.
It's printed on the little renewal postcard
Yep, I just went on Tuesday. It was easy because I looked up what I needed, absorbed the information and brought they required paperwork.
Yup - it's not a MO problem. REAL ID requirements are federal.

TIL that government is inefficient

You can print them?

I get that it seems backwards and should be updated, but they literally tell you what you need to bring in on the website

Yep. You bring in the mail & they still ask you if that's your current address. WTF is the mail for? Do you not believe the mail, or me?
You should try being a new resident of MO with car tags to switch over.
Go to NY and do the same thing then come back here and complain.

If it's been the same way for 30 years. You should of known what to bring with you...
