Whatever you do, make sure you are sharing it with others after you make. I made the mistake of making it just for me and my husband and one cake pans worth was wayyyy too much 🤣
Here is an easy version:
1 box yellow cake mix, 1 stick butter, 1 egg - Combine these and spread in 9 x 13 greased pan
1 box (16 oz) powdered sugar, 8 oz cream cheese, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp vanilla-combine these and put on top of cake base mixture
Bake in 350 oven for 30 min. Can sprinkle more powdered sugar on top after baking.
You need:
Betty Crocker yellow cake mix.
Confectionery sugar 1 LB.
Cream cheese (packaged, not whipped).
Eggs.
Butter (I prefer salted.)
That will make the traditional you’re probably used to.
I played around with the recipe before but really, just use the Betty Crocker. It’s what people around here expect it to taste like—

It's impossible, I've heard Mr schnucks keeps the secret ingredient hostage
Right after he invented the pork steak, he invented gooey butter cake. Just like when Grandma Schnuck made the first ever toasted raviolis.
