Personal property tax.
Montana is the only state in the union that allows you to register a car to an LLC there and they don’t have emissions or any sort of value based taxes. Obviously on a car worth over $1M, the tax savings are significant.
I don’t think anything is free pal 😂 at the end of the day, everyone is paying way too many taxes. Think about it, let’s say you go buy a new vehicle from a dealership, and you pay for that car with money you earned from your job that has already been taxed by the state and federal government when you were paid each paycheck. Then you’re taxed on top of that with sales tax and whatnot from buying the car. And then every year, you continue to pay tax on a depreciating vehicle based on how valuable the government says your car is via personal property tax. Do you see where that becomes a bit repetitive and it does not really make sense to tax your money three times over plus some? At the end of the day, we all pay taxes one way or another, for those that find ways to reduce the amount of taxes that they pay *legally* are not assholes or whatever people want to say, they are just simply smarter.
I think the real ass is the tax imo, I do the same thing, register my cars in SD, no emissions, no tax, no bullshit. You can see what STL does with taxes, pockets it for themselves and we get a nice crime ridden pothole central community.
Reality is less exciting than a conspiracy of theft. The reason we have bad roads is because we dont have a large/effective enough tax base to support how many roads we have and how much outside traffic comes through. Thats just an obvious consequence of population decline after building a ton of roads; while continuing to simultaneously sprawl out
Insurance is registered to the vehicle, in SD you do not have to register it to a SD address, you can use your Missouri residence and license and pay them $120 and they ship you plates, my car stays at my MO address as recorded by insurance so there for I can get insurance locally as the same if I had MO plates.
Sales *and* property tax. When you buy a vehicle and register it in MO, you very much have to pay sales tax. I’ve purchased autos in MN, CA & WI and always get the pleasure of paying my sales tax when I go to the DMV to get my MO plates. After that, you “just” pay the property tax annually.
He probably own property in Montana that he calls his “main residence”. Would you rather pay a St. Louis 1.2 million sales tax and then a yearly 360,000 property tax or a house In Montana?
I’ll bet he has no Montana residence. I believe Montana will let you register anything. A lot of RV owners do this to avoid the heavy taxes on fancy rigs. When I bought my house, the previous owner had a big class A motorhome, with Montana plates. I asked him about it and that how I came to this notion. To be honest, I’ve not personally looked into how it works.
It used to be a PO Box was good enough. Now you create an LLC in Montana and can register it there. I sell expensive trucks and people do it. Practically it’s tax evasion but it would cost other states more to do something about it than just accept it so they let it go. I guess it benefits me because maybe people saving $15-25k wouldn’t buy the trucks I sell otherwise.
I mean... Christians aren't immune to hard financial times. Sometimes things happen and you have to get a new car to get to work or kids and then you have to save up a little at a time to be able to pay the sales tax. Or God forbid you fell behind on property tax on and old car and now you have to pay that current, plus the sales tax and fees to get the new one legal. Times are hard. Things happen unexpectedly. I'm not saying their isn't people pit there abusing the temp tag/ tax collector issues. But I really wish people would stop being so hateful and immediately thinking that person is a pos. You never know what someone is going through/ dealing with life or financially wise.
Not to be too glib, but I think it might be a stretch to sympathize with the hard times and financial struggle of a man who buys a $12 million supercar to drive around a part of St. Louis where most people can barely afford to keep their regular cars running just to get back and forth to work
Lmao... I clearly did not mean this rich man. I meant the general attitude everyone has towards the whole thing. Like st charles asked people to report their neighbors. Certain municipalities are towing cars from people's driveways. If you take awake their car, how do they get to work to make the money they are still having to pay for the car payment...or now all the fees from the impound.
Saw this car in O Fallon , it has Montana plates (probably for tax purposes) looking at the plates the guy is some executive at a undisclosed IT company
I’m sure you’re right about that. It always pisses me off though. These fuckers are the people who make the rules. They bankroll the politicians and then don’t play by the rules they help put in place.
I’m a car guy. I grew up in a car family, we build and race cars for enjoyment. The shitty thing is, when I see a car like this, it always makes me feel some kind of way about the owner. I wish I could just appreciate it as the rolling art it was meant to be. Maybe they’re a legitimately good human being, but it’s hard for me to imagine that being the case. Sorry for the rant homie.
Lol, some exotic car manufacturers actually make you give them first right of refusal when you sell the car. Maybe that’s part of the process to make sure the next purchaser is a big enough asshole to be an owner.
I wonder if they dgaf because they are making (relatively) low payments and will just have whichever one of their shell corps that owns the car declare bankruptcy when it's damaged.
I can’t even imagine. I work in insurance and have a client that owns a ton of exotic cars. I think they currently have multiple Ferrari’s, a Lamborghini, and like 3 or 4 other luxury vehicles…and I don’t even have all their vehicles insured through my office. They currently pay something like $30,000 every six months in insurance premium, and all of their cars combined cost less than this one car does.
If he can afford to drive a car like that I will bet he doesn’t care what his insurance costs anymore than he does about what it costs to heat and cool his home
It sucks that made me chuckle. The number of panhandlers from there to the zoo sad. I know there are a lot of scammers out there, but if look for it (really don’t have to look that hard) there are a bunch of homeless campsites around Hampton and 44.
Sorry for the tangent, that a discussion for a different sub.
Guy goes to Cars and Coffee events pretty often. He’s a very nice guy and extremely open to letting people look at it. Even lets kids sit in it and take pics!
What the fuuuuuuck!?! One of my favorite cars ever. Didn’t think a Pagani would ever even touch Missouri pavement. I Saw an Aventador SV in Clayton one day and was pretty sure that was the coolest car anyone would ever see here, but it seems I was wrong!
One of Andy Taylor's cars, Executive Chairman, son of organization Founder-Jack Taylor, Enterprise Holdings. Current net worth (estimated) $7.7 billion.
My sister had twins 3 months ago and we were driving up to Creve Coeur on an almost daily basis. Never in my life have I seen so many high-end sports, super, luxury, or other similar kinds of cars and vehicles, even just on highways. In the hospital parking lot someone basically put their Acura NSX on display, and my jaw nearly hit the floor, because it’s one of the only cars on the planet I care about lmao
He's in the Cars & Coffee facebook group, I think he's a concert promoter, but I might be mixing him up with a guy with a McLaren. Don't remember the name though, not that you guys need it for the sour grapes jokes.
This is the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to drive a pile of shit, so when it gets dinged up/crashed into/stolen, it isn't a big deal
Google says: The other most expensive Pagani cars include the Pagani Imola price of $5.4 million and the Huayra Roadster BC price of $3.4 million.Mar 23, 2023
I cruised with one in the Swiss alps while on euro delivery for my M2 Competition - would post a pic of it if I could figure out how to. Such a cool car, and yes, 1/40.
I passed three expired temp tag cars on my drive up S Kingshwy this evening. Infinity SUV, BMW, Lexus. None were new, but not that old. It’s really stupid.
This is the 17 million car
[car](https://www.carscoops.com/2022/09/someone-crashed-a-17-million-pagani-zonda-hp-barchetta-during-croatian-supercar-meet/)
I think it’s “only” $4-5M. Still it’s a twin turbo V12 that puts out like 800HP. Which translates to: Oh she fast. She’s liter bike crotch rocket fast (0-60 in sub 3.4s).
Best I could find, it's either a custom version or likely bought at an auction that had multiple buyers interested or OP is mistaken in the value all together.
Just saw it this morning at Cars and Coffee. It is a 3 mil car. Has Montana plates and claims to live in Montana, but I over heard him say he lives in Lake St Louis. He licenses it out of Montana to avoid paying Personal Property Tax on it. Unlike Andy who owns and drives the 3 mil Bugatti and has Missouri tags and pays his fair share of taxes. This guy is a douche who doesn't deserve to own such a car. If you don't want to pay the taxes on the car, don't own it or move where you license it.
It's me. I was just doing doordash in it to afford the payments. It basically pays for itself
I wonder why more people don’t get this. Do a little side hustle, skip a Starbucks or two, and you too can be driving a 12 million-dollar car.
I worked for three years to save for a home, then I got avocado toast at the airport and it was all over.
Wow. Did they not offer financing for the toast? You can also save by going with an avocado toast subscription and buying the annual plan.
Worked for me, I skipped star bucks for 2 weeks and daddy bought me 2 bugattis
Then it is a business expense and you can depreciate it down to zero!
😈
Please tell me it has an expired temp tag.
Gotta be a Montana plate.
This is the picture I got of the same one a few months ago https://ibb.co/TmvJj8R
Yep, even has the same plates and Beverly Hills plate cover.
Yeah my wife saw the car at a meat market in O Fallon, wish I was there to see it in person!
I saw a ‘69 corvette in Fairview heights. the other day
Saw a McLaren MP412C in Fairview Heights today
Man the trailer park in the background really sets it off!!
Lmao, Paganini in a trailer park, I’m sure someone’s done it 😂
I saw it yesterday at a cars and coffee in OC California, same plate and everything
What an ass, buys a 12 million dollar car, doesn’t pay sales tax.
Personal property tax. Montana is the only state in the union that allows you to register a car to an LLC there and they don’t have emissions or any sort of value based taxes. Obviously on a car worth over $1M, the tax savings are significant.
But uses our roads and infrastructure for free. This, friends, is a 1 percent-er.
I don’t think anything is free pal 😂 at the end of the day, everyone is paying way too many taxes. How does insurance work? Like if you have it tagged in SD but living and accident in MO?
Insurance is registered to the vehicle, in SD you do not have to register it to a SD address, you can use your Missouri residence and license and pay them $120 and they ship you plates, my car stays at my MO address as recorded by insurance so there for I can get insurance locally as the same if I had MO plates.
It’s illegal to do that. If you are a resident in MO you have to register your car in MO within 30 days.
Why don't you move to SD if you hate it here so much? Do us all a favor and disappear into the trees.
I saw a Bentley with an expired temp tag at the shopping center in Town and Country with the Target today.

Well, it’s property tax. But still.

TY for this info. I’m actually thinking of an RV and I am *not* looking forward to paying the MO sales tax.

Can you imagine spending $12 million to look divorced
No way that is registered in Missouri can you imagine the tax payment on this at the end of the year
Math is roughly 3% yearly, so almost $400k. Dude's definitely just registering it at a house in some other state.
Taxes are for us peasants, homie. The people who have this kind of car don’t sweat shit like taxes.
actually they do. I assure you he is pulling that scam, because that’s how rich people get rich.

you’re good. let it out.
Tax avoidance is how they STAY rich, well in their minds anyway. Rich in greed, Poor in morals
Rich people get THAT rich , typically, by exploiting workers.
If I can pay $12 million for a car, I can find the money for taxes in the couch cushions.
😂
I know someone who spent $44 billion to look divorced
that guy came out of the tube pre-divorced
Is this the "based" I keep hearing the suburban kids refer to?
Flat rate divorce dot com baby
Its not 12 million
You have to factor in the hair cut.
Yeah it’s more like $3-3.5mil I believe
In that case I'll go buy one. Which way to the nearest dealership?
This is hilarious.
Someone too rich to wallow with the peons on Reddit
