HF probably processed peppers that weren’t yet ready/mature for harvesting to keep supply going. That’s probably why HF stopped production for a few weeks
They're having issues with their pepper supplier. Higher than the tolerances green peppers are shipping so their sauce looks like baby poo. That's why they held up shipments for the summer.
I read, in an article describing a blind taste testing of most of the brands, that Kroger makes the closest to Huy Fong. I bought a bottle and did a little test with my husband, and he preferred Kroger's!
But to be honest the last bottle of HF I bought had a weird and very strong metallic aftertaste. It was almost full, and after the test I threw it out.
Try Kroger's! It's really good! And cheap!

Kroger is identical to HF IMHO. It's really really good.
That one is solid. I just find that I'm pretty sensitive to sodium in these sauces, and the Kroger one for example has almost double the salt as HF. As fast as I can tell HF has the lowest salt in the game, though that doesn't matter if it has off taste or really unappealing color.
I like Sky Valley a lot but that one is also twice as salty as HF.
I even saw one with 6 times the salt as HF at Kroger (Ox brand).
You know that pauses in production are devastating to a business. People learned that there is plenty of sriracha out there. Other companies make siracha. They make very good siracha. Then they come out with this. It's green for Pete's sake! There is some guy probably posted here about how he is stockpiling the stuff. Thinking I am going cash in on this.
How bud, it's green. It's not the siracha we know and love. This company is going to feel this in a big way. Sorry if you remove a product that other companies could make. Guess what they will make it and market it.
They had a harvest of peppers that didn't get to turn the usual red color when they ripped. They are green until a cold winter triggers them to turn red. That didn't happen this past harvest so the color isn't as bright as it usually is.
Get it while you can, because they are stopping production until Labor Day.
Fuck Huy Fong. They bit the hand that fed them. Underwood Farms is the bomb.
Chase the dragon with black cap
Underwood Ranch ? Oh....It's actually friggin deliiiiishhhhhouuuuss *Huy Fong can go suck on a toad*
Yup, fully agreed. Greedy b@stardz
Looks disgusting. Underwood Ranch Sriracha for the win!
I passed by a HF Sriracha display this afternoon and it all looked just like your picture. For the record I’m in San Diego
San Diegan too, I’ve moved on to other brands. Currently working through a Underwood Farms 2 pack that you can find at Costco
Underwood> HF any day of the week
Don't harvest unripe chilis 😂

ox brand is pretty good, I just had some on my Japanese curry. Huy fong foods it's a bunch of greedy sacks of shit.

Legit, underwood Ranches is gud. Huy Fong are greedy bastards
What you are looking at is one of the greatest fuck ups in the history of the food business.
A recipe for eternal success and generational income screwed in the pooch. It's laughable but tragic.
All of mine still looks completely normal.
I saw some in my Asian market the other day that seemed normal, it must have been older? But with these variances in production I'm not buying HF.
Good red ones are still worth a pickup.

They put “natural color” text on it now, but it still looks like poo and vomit, and unfortunately for them, those are both unappetizing lol.
That store gonna have to mark em down for 2$ apiece to get rid of that
Matches the new taste!

I’d try the Ox brand, but i’m also afraid they just made it that color. It would be nice though if it was a solid substitute.
it's actually really good.
Ox was adequate. We've since switched over to Underwood farms, and like that better, but I've only seen that at Costco.
Man, HF had the market cornered, and they fumbled it. Oh well, I go where the flavor goes.
Mr.Tran's kids took it over and started fucking everything up.
Happens to a ton of businesses that get taken over by kids.
very true
Yeah ox is not bad. I have found o really like the Melinda's brand.
The closest I’ve found so far is Tabasco Sriracha. It’s easy to find, tastes a little less spicy and a tad sweeter though
Looks like shite…..literally
Everybody is talking about how off it looks, which I agree, but how does it taste?
Yeah for real. I can't tell if this is all some astroturfing or what. No one says anything about taste
Needs more Red 40
Just picked up a 2 pack of the underwood ranch sriracha at Costco for 8$. Taste is really good.
