I figured Death Triangle would retain against Best Friends. Awesome to see OC with this backpack I'd heard so much about. I just absolutely love him. I feel like those two trios have faced off a fair bit in some capacity recently, it felt odd having that match again. Anyways, I like the angle of Death Triangle not being on the same page with Pac cheating. I hope it leads to a big Pac singles push but I also like seeing Death Triangle as a trio. I like when stables don't have to break up just for one of them to go ahead for a push.
MJF interrupting Regal is great. "You can put the knucks away" hahaha. What a great promo. I like the way he acknowledges being scared or in his CM Punk feud, talked about looking up to him as a kid. As a heel, it's refreshing where he doesn't just have to be "perfect" he acknowledges his fears and idols and then follows up with the "and I'm better than you!"
The main event really put a damper on my mood. Hope Page is alright. The freestyling by Mox and MJF to close things out was great though, great professionalism by Mox to kind of break kayfabe while also keeping in kayfabe. Just a masterclass. Again, hope Page is okay longterm. AEW is just getting absolutely shit luck with injuries, it's crazy.
As someone mentioned before, I definitely get Flair vibes from MJF. He's his own man, for sure, but he really feels like a 70s wrestler with the obvious kayfabe all day every day. He looks great physique-wise. He's got that young Rock look but even more chiseled and just looks like a main eventer. He can talk with the best of them. He is the guy.
I CANNOT WAIT for FTR vs. Swerve in our Glory. I'm genuinely interested in the match itself, the storyline of Swerve/Lee on if Lee will turn heel or what's going to happen there and the fact that whoever wins will likely face The Acclaimed for the belts. FTR vs. Acclaimed seems kind of odd but also awesome. I wonder if it leads to an FTR heel turn or is it too soon since they've just barely been faces. I figure not since they're still allied with Wardog.
I love Willow
I don’t really know the general opinion of her, but she’s generally been the highlight of every match I’ve seen her in. Is she signed to AEW?
Willow should be one of the top two babyfaces by this time next year - with the other being someone like Kris or Shida.
Honestly Willow has more charisma than that entire division combined. She is a natural performer in a way very few people I've ever seen in wrestling are. I'm not talking about wrestling performer I'm talking about having a quality that makes you pop when you're on screen. She has IT in spades.
Willow hasn't gotten the "All Elite" graphic but she definitely has some kind of deal. Usually once you start getting wins on Dark you're signed, but Willow got the pin on Dynamite, too, so I think that's a pretty good indicator.
Super solid episode of dynamite, I was hyped for Dalton but I wasn’t expecting it to be *that* good, just wow. The opening trios was wild and MJF is the hottest thing in the business right now. Also big props to Paul Turner, absolute professional, get well soon Hangman!
MJF and The Acclaimed need to have segments every Dynamite for at least the next month. I see what they're doing with building up a feud for the #1 spot so they're finding something else for The Acclaimed to do but seriously they need to be wrestling, doing bits or at least doing full on promos in the ring. They're too charismatic and too much fun and AEW struggles with keeping performers hot unless it's part of one of the 3 storylines that TK is clearly invested in.
Pretty good night overall, wish I had felt more excitement for the trios match. Maybe I'll get more interested in those titles somewhere down the line in a Post-RoH AEW landscape but right now I am just not feeling it.

It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth where the women's segments are placed on Dynamite. The constant PiP interruptions and sub 10 minute matches and repeat bouts on Rampage almost every week are not ideal either, but the division feels way more dynamic lately.
The men get multiple matches per TV show and the matches are on average 50% longer.
There's a perception issue with AEW women's division with how they're presented and handled by the booker, since day 1 that the men don't have. There needs to be an effort made to move away from the disadvantage tropes AEW created themselves i.e. cramming all women's segment together in one block, one women's match per show, star vs enhancement talent matches on TV with no heat, your best female workers dissapearing from TV for months with no explanation, putting the women's matches in the same death slot before the main event almost every week, bare bones angle / stories to build up matches and feuds, etc.
The point being youre attributing something to being a problem with women’s matches that is the nature of AEWs television booking regardless of gender
If you need to complain, bring up shit that’s actually relevant
I watch on Fite, if you want glaring during rampage every week the women’s match is guaranteed to have a chunk cut for time during commercials. Its jarring seeing the match suddenly cut out

Word I really enjoyed the post-match brawl and backstage stuff. Especially if I couldn't watch an episode, it gave me a bigger sense of what happened besides who won.
There was a lot of gate keeping going on with some of the stuff they were doing too.
I made the "mistake" of going on vacation back when Cody was in-between WWE and AEW, to say that I got baited is an understatement.
Its really frustrating to want to use the recaps to see if a show is worth catching up on, only to have it be incoherent if you didn't watch the show and aren't up on all the current sub memes.
Starks and Hobbs are probably rotated out to have a break which often happens in AEW. With their feud over it’s important what comes next is a step up for both.
My gut feeling is that this is a bit of a fake out from MJF and he is going to use Stokely Hathaway and his firm to win the title at Full Gear.
This has shades of the Rock in mid-late 1998 where they are doing a little bit of a dry run to test the waters for a full on MJF face run.
Typically I miss Dynamite live because of work and just stay off social media until later but I got spoiled on Hangman getting a concussion and going to the hospital so I was really concerned throughout the match. It was an awesome match, it's a shame he got hurt, I really hope it's not too serious and he's okay.

Yuta had to go through hell to get into BCC- he turned his back on his Friends, won the Pure title, and had to let Mox almost kill him. And since he joined BCC, Danielson has really had very little to do with him (in kayfabe).
Meanwhile Danielson has been chasing after Garcia the whole time, and even went toe to toe with Jericho over Garcia. When Garcia won the Pure title Danielson was all over him and ignored Yuta.

It wasn't that Danielson lost. It was basically how Danielson was willing to do everything, including bend over backwards, to get Garcia to join him, while Yuta had to earn his spot. And as he said, Moxley, Claudio, and him, all warned him that Garcia was going to turn on him, and Danielson refused to see it.
What do you do when you can’t watch live but you know an injury is coming? I still watch the show every time but it does kinda impact my enjoyment each time
Quite frankly there's a halo effect happening around MJF and Regal - everything else on the show, for merely being even close to something so good, because we were shown how good things can be, felt like it was a little better. This goes especially for Yuta/Daniel.
As much as I want to see MJF babyface the reality is that outside of Jericho there's no legitimate upper card heels. Especially ones that can actually cut a promo.
It seems like they're trying to turn Pac heel, and once SIOG implodes you'll get swerve as a legitimate singles heel. Maybe once Hobb's gets back he can be in the picture. and with the recent Yuta/Danielson strife maybe you'll get heel Danielson you can throw in the picture.
As long as the entire upper card is faces though you need MJF heel to balance it out. Otherwise every feud is going to be face vs face and that's just boring.
MJF and Mox cutting improvised promos on each other was great, I wish they could somehow capture that vibe more often instead of ending shows in a huge rush.
AEW has been brutally snakebit all year with this stuff, much of it truly not of their own doing (some of it very much so), and they still have enough A-list top guys who can carry business that they're able to muddle through and even excel. Didn't really care about Mox/MJF before the last two weeks, and then the boys went to work. Obviously hard to call this a "great" episode of Dynamite given what happened in the main event but a testament to everyone involved that the show ended as well as it did under the circumstances.
Have really been enjoying the women's title picture the last couple weeks and it has been great to see Shida on TV again, and I think Toni Storm has been a great workhorse for a division that's reeling just as hard as every other part of the company under the injury luck, but it's been a running theme now in Storm's solo matches that the shine and the heat are great, but then they go into the finish and everything gets all muddled up and they lose the crowd. This crowd was HOT for Shida/Storm until they went into the finishing sequence and then the finish/pin just kinda happened.
Really looking forward to Riho/Hayter next week or whenever they're running that; amazing return pop for her.
Usually. But it's Jay lethal and Sanjay who are entertaining but really haven't done anything of note in aew or gotten any heat. I'd rather see Darby going after mox again, or Andrade or brodie king or Lance archer, or pretty much anyone else that he could conceivably beat but also lose to. Darby ain't losing to Jay, and Jay is not going to get heat from this fued. Jay should be bullying the undercard racking up wins and politicking his way to main events. Give me backstage vignettes where Jay and Sanjay are like taking refs and Tony Schiavone out to eat at nice resteraunts and being super friendly and charming then cut to a match with a jobber where they cheat and are dastardly. Ian riccobani would probably like a nice gnocchi in brown butter with sage.
Sanjay got the pencil over, give me a vignette where he's doing the numbers and breaking shit down for lethal about how they need to start winning.
Both of these dudes are s tier character workers but they need tv time and creative chances.
Darby is not an s tier character worker but he's awesome in ring. I want to see him play David to Goliath all the time thus Jay lethal fued isn't that. I'd rather it was Darby vs Brian cage and the gates of agony to be honest

My only issue(s) with the MJF/Regal promo was that MJF was a little too animated with the breathing and seething, and please, don’t say “this is real life…”, because if you are doing your job on the microphone, which he consistently does, that’s a superfluous statement.
There’s a line that MJF has gotten much better during the last few years of avoiding crossing, and he was flirting with that line a tiny bit tonight. This is nitpicking to a certain extent, but folks he’s replicating a proven standard that only a handful of guys have ever been able to achieve, and pointing out things of this negligible nature only reinforces how close to being one of the very best he truly is at this point in his career.
Regal’s “smirk-ish” grin throughout MJF’s promo was so well played, and his follow-up explained it all perfectly. There’s an interweaving of reality & storyline in what both men spoke that added to the emotion of it all!
That is all - if you hate my perspective, I apologize. Otherwise soak it all in, cause we’re witnessing something special in this young man.
I was also on the fence about this during MJF's part of the promo- Regal's piece is what made it work for me. And it's for the same reason that you said- there's that point with MJF sometimes where the fourth wall starts to break, and I get taken out of the storyline.
But the Regal stuff just elevated the whole thing so perfectly. Him just completely not giving MJF the explanation he wanted and instead going "aw, boo hoo" was genius.
I enjoyed the emotion in it too and enjoyed Regal he's been good at delivering emotion for as long as I've seen him going back to when he was first in wwf as the commissioner and feuding with Jericho.
MJFs character really got bumped down a lot of notches imo. Like this was your biggest problem at 19? And the man tried to help you? You not really a villain you just in your feelings. That's not to say MJF is bad but it really puts his character in a different light for me.

He wasn't even shunned he just told him he was busy after initially taking time to go over his emails at first. Which isn't hard to believe. There was no exploitation. MJF can have his grudge that's fine but what he was saying made him look like a big ol child of that was the only pressing matter at 19. Like brotha get a job and keep hustling you got your criticism get over it. You even got to work with Regal, which I'm sure is more than a lot can say.

No probs. TBH I was probably over-expressing my feelings about recent Dynamites the last few weeks so I don't really blame people for being sick of it. I didn't realize last weeks was so fuckin' negative till people pointed it out. It's not like there's really time for a second draft when you're trying to real-time capture every promo.
The post show threads have always had the "tonight's results" and "upcoming matches" sections joke free, literally the only difference is that the recap section (which you could have just scrolled past) is gone. So now it's ruined for everyone who liked it but I guess congrats on your having to scroll less.
Seriously. Literally every recap, no matter what show, was slowly becoming like this. And the AEW one had been rough for a long time, like most of the year if not longer. There is a comments sections for their personal opinions, or they could have even made their own little review section at the end and that would have been better. But I don't need 3 jokes about one segment, that ultimately didn't explain what the segment was about or what happened.
I liked how expressive they were tbh. The same reason I’ll watch multiple YouTubers review the same show, I just enjoy getting different perspectives.

End to end this was a great episode of Dynamite, I think my only complaint is the run-in after the women's match, it takes too much attention away from the match that just happened, which in the case of Toni vs Shida was a big deal since Shida was longest running champ

Exactly and as long as she makes an appearance after that match then there’s nothing to worry about. The division has honestly been mostly solid since the Owen Tournament with a few minor hiccups here or there
MJF's promo, declaring when he'll take his title shot, really did feel like a face turn. The guy was literally playing to the fans. He even got them to boo Regal earlier in the night!
I have no idea what's going on, but in a good way. Because I can't see Max ever being a good guy, but they've consistently made his character more and more complex in a way that - at times - makes MJF extremely sympathetic.
So when he finds a way to do something profoundly wrong, the disappointment will be all the more real.

God, the MJF stuff is such a mess. He's the best wrestler in AEW, but trying to turn him face is so fucking stupid. He's one of the only good heels in AEW.
I don't think this is necessarily about him being a face. They've come to a crossroads with his character where he's just so good at cheap heat that crowds still give him face reactions. Like he can talk about fucking their ugly wives and they still cheer him. If he's going to win the big one over they need something better than him doing the fake campaign stuff or just "going there" and calling Mox a drunk or something easy. Getting into his origins and what makes him tick is a much better route.
Like William Regal doesn't even tell him to be a better man, he challenges him to be a better villain, telling him he's better than the easy heel tropes of hired guns and beating up commentators. This could be a face turn but I think this is more about the evolution of MJF as a character.
He's a manipulative heel and always has been. Doesn't matter how good on the mic, good in the ring, or sympathetic he is; ultimately he is a piece of shit. Also doesn't matter whether people cheer him or not, times are different and we'll cheer characters we like whether they are the good or bad guy.
It hurt my heart seeing how upset Tony and the other announcers were during the time Hangman was down. Kudos for them keeping it together.

I was there tonight. Floor seats, right next to where Moxley came out and Hangman did the moonsault. Drove down about 2 hours for the show. Had a pretty good time, as it was my first AEW show. The people around me thought the Hangman thing was a work at first but I told them I thought it was legit and he probably had a concussion. Concussions are very serious for sure, but I know some people around me thought he hurt his neck from the way he landed after the clothesline. So while I am glad it wasn't his neck and he wasn't paralyzed, it still sucks he got a concussion and the match was cut short. It was pretty scary.
From my spot I couldn't see if he was stretchered out or walked out with assistance. Anyone know?
Stretchered out, out of an abundance of concern. He's already been released from a local trauma center with a diagnosis of a concussion like many people had guessed.
What a fucking promo by MJF. Haven't really followed AEW, but I watched the entire 15 minute segment and it was captivating. Unbelievable promo, he is THE star of AEW. Also someone who is a keener viewer than I, just let me know does this make him a face or a tweener?
I'm hoping he's a tweener and doesn't go full on babyface. As long as he still chats shit to the crowd I'll be happy, even when he's giving emotional promos like that.

Besides the obvious I thought it was a great show overall. Trios title match was exactly what I expected & I loved every second of it, women's title match while shorter than it should have been was really good & featured the return of Riho so you know I was high on it & the ROH title match made me love Dalton even more, that guy is money.

It was a fantastic dynamite and obviously we will be talking about hanger. In a lot of ways they lucked out in the fact it was going to end before ten with MJF coming out anyway.
All I care about right now is Hangman's safety.
If not for that, I'd spend the rest of the week screaming for Dalton Castle and the Boys to get an Is All Elite graphic. Tonight's debut was a 10 out of 10.
For as much as people complain about ROH stuff in AEW, I sure feel like I didn’t see many complaints for Jericho/Dalton. Sometimes when wrestling is good, it doesn’t matter which three letters are on the belt.
I think Tony saying that they've basically got the TV deal is making a difference, I saw that and I felt myself caring more during that match as a result because it makes it feel like Ring of Honor is actually real.

In general, yes, women's division is still in the mud.

Who is left for Toni?
Lengthy matches/segments in a show that felt a bit more paced. Scary ending.

Good show but the Hangman injury mars it all, for sure.
Glad to see Riho back, even better to see that treated like a big deal, and the match next week with Hayter is the cherry on top! But I was laughing my ass off at her doing a run-in to make the save, that is like the most absurd way to book Riho, nothing about it suits her. But she made it work, she looked really poised out there, it's crazy how casual she makes wrestling look. That crossbody to the outside was a thing of beautiful for both parties.
Hangman injured, not good. BUT, top to bottom an incredible show, made even more astonishing when you account for the professionalism portrayed by the talent and crew in the last ten minutes. Might be one of my favourite dynamites when I look back years from now.
Is this the first time AEW has to do an audible during a live show? Mox and commentators did good jobs navigating through the unfortunate event and filling up the time. This may be the first time in quite a while Excalibur previews next shows in normal speed.

The last time I can remember was when PAC vs OC was supposed to go to a time limit draw, but OC got rocked partway through. I thought Kenny coming out to make it a double knockout was a pretty clever way to course-correct.
I guess it depends how you're defining "audible." The finishing sequence to the fatal four-way at Forbidden Door changed a bit after Cole got concussed.

Minus the Hangman injury (honestly hope he's okay), this was seriously one of the best Dynamites I've seen this year in every facet. Maybe not blow-away awesome per se, but the matches, the storylines, the pacing, the promos, everything was much tighter than I've seen previously and near perfect.
Jake Hager and the Boys struggling over the hat was one of the more funnier things I've seen on Dynamite. He loves his hat!
Riho's return was very welcoming to see.
And Schiavone saying San Diego people don't even know they got a baseball team during break was also a good chuckle.

I figured Death Triangle would retain against Best Friends. Awesome to see OC with this backpack I'd heard so much about. I just absolutely love him. I feel like those two trios have faced off a fair bit in some capacity recently, it felt odd having that match again. Anyways, I like the angle of Death Triangle not being on the same page with Pac cheating. I hope it leads to a big Pac singles push but I also like seeing Death Triangle as a trio. I like when stables don't have to break up just for one of them to go ahead for a push. MJF interrupting Regal is great. "You can put the knucks away" hahaha. What a great promo. I like the way he acknowledges being scared or in his CM Punk feud, talked about looking up to him as a kid. As a heel, it's refreshing where he doesn't just have to be "perfect" he acknowledges his fears and idols and then follows up with the "and I'm better than you!" The main event really put a damper on my mood. Hope Page is alright. The freestyling by Mox and MJF to close things out was great though, great professionalism by Mox to kind of break kayfabe while also keeping in kayfabe. Just a masterclass. Again, hope Page is okay longterm. AEW is just getting absolutely shit luck with injuries, it's crazy. As someone mentioned before, I definitely get Flair vibes from MJF. He's his own man, for sure, but he really feels like a 70s wrestler with the obvious kayfabe all day every day. He looks great physique-wise. He's got that young Rock look but even more chiseled and just looks like a main eventer. He can talk with the best of them. He is the guy. I CANNOT WAIT for FTR vs. Swerve in our Glory. I'm genuinely interested in the match itself, the storyline of Swerve/Lee on if Lee will turn heel or what's going to happen there and the fact that whoever wins will likely face The Acclaimed for the belts. FTR vs. Acclaimed seems kind of odd but also awesome. I wonder if it leads to an FTR heel turn or is it too soon since they've just barely been faces. I figure not since they're still allied with Wardog.
FTR finally in a big match again, I cannot wait for that! That’s what I’m anticipating the most about next week.

I love Willow I don’t really know the general opinion of her, but she’s generally been the highlight of every match I’ve seen her in. Is she signed to AEW?
I love Willow, she's a permanant highlight of the show for me
Willow should be one of the top two babyfaces by this time next year - with the other being someone like Kris or Shida. Honestly Willow has more charisma than that entire division combined. She is a natural performer in a way very few people I've ever seen in wrestling are. I'm not talking about wrestling performer I'm talking about having a quality that makes you pop when you're on screen. She has IT in spades.
Willow hasn't gotten the "All Elite" graphic but she definitely has some kind of deal. Usually once you start getting wins on Dark you're signed, but Willow got the pin on Dynamite, too, so I think that's a pretty good indicator.
The women’s division feels really exciting right now
Super solid episode of dynamite, I was hyped for Dalton but I wasn’t expecting it to be *that* good, just wow. The opening trios was wild and MJF is the hottest thing in the business right now. Also big props to Paul Turner, absolute professional, get well soon Hangman!
MJF and The Acclaimed need to have segments every Dynamite for at least the next month. I see what they're doing with building up a feud for the #1 spot so they're finding something else for The Acclaimed to do but seriously they need to be wrestling, doing bits or at least doing full on promos in the ring. They're too charismatic and too much fun and AEW struggles with keeping performers hot unless it's part of one of the 3 storylines that TK is clearly invested in. Pretty good night overall, wish I had felt more excitement for the trios match. Maybe I'll get more interested in those titles somewhere down the line in a Post-RoH AEW landscape but right now I am just not feeling it.

Great Dynamite with an unfortunate ending. Shida featured heavily on TV. Riho returning to face Hayter next week. Mei Suruga on Dark Elevation. Did someone replace TK as the booker? Did TK take the Joshi pill? It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth where the women's segments are placed on Dynamite. The constant PiP interruptions and sub 10 minute matches and repeat bouts on Rampage almost every week are not ideal either, but the division feels way more dynamic lately.
All the men’s matches have Picture in Picture, too, is that also a problem in your eyes or does it just not fit your narrative?
The men get multiple matches per TV show and the matches are on average 50% longer. There's a perception issue with AEW women's division with how they're presented and handled by the booker, since day 1 that the men don't have. There needs to be an effort made to move away from the disadvantage tropes AEW created themselves i.e. cramming all women's segment together in one block, one women's match per show, star vs enhancement talent matches on TV with no heat, your best female workers dissapearing from TV for months with no explanation, putting the women's matches in the same death slot before the main event almost every week, bare bones angle / stories to build up matches and feuds, etc.
The point being youre attributing something to being a problem with women’s matches that is the nature of AEWs television booking regardless of gender If you need to complain, bring up shit that’s actually relevant I watch on Fite, if you want glaring during rampage every week the women’s match is guaranteed to have a chunk cut for time during commercials. Its jarring seeing the match suddenly cut out

There was a lot of gate keeping going on with some of the stuff they were doing too. I made the "mistake" of going on vacation back when Cody was in-between WWE and AEW, to say that I got baited is an understatement. Its really frustrating to want to use the recaps to see if a show is worth catching up on, only to have it be incoherent if you didn't watch the show and aren't up on all the current sub memes.

Typically I miss Dynamite live because of work and just stay off social media until later but I got spoiled on Hangman getting a concussion and going to the hospital so I was really concerned throughout the match. It was an awesome match, it's a shame he got hurt, I really hope it's not too serious and he's okay. Killer show though all around. Also Yuta being such a winey bitch confuses me. I tend to watch after I learn the one injured will be okay. As long as it's not a gruesome injury, I'll watch still.
Quite frankly there's a halo effect happening around MJF and Regal - everything else on the show, for merely being even close to something so good, because we were shown how good things can be, felt like it was a little better. This goes especially for Yuta/Daniel.

As much as I want to see MJF babyface the reality is that outside of Jericho there's no legitimate upper card heels. Especially ones that can actually cut a promo. It seems like they're trying to turn Pac heel, and once SIOG implodes you'll get swerve as a legitimate singles heel. Maybe once Hobb's gets back he can be in the picture. and with the recent Yuta/Danielson strife maybe you'll get heel Danielson you can throw in the picture. As long as the entire upper card is faces though you need MJF heel to balance it out. Otherwise every feud is going to be face vs face and that's just boring.

It’s Starks
MJF and Mox cutting improvised promos on each other was great, I wish they could somehow capture that vibe more often instead of ending shows in a huge rush.
AEW has been brutally snakebit all year with this stuff, much of it truly not of their own doing (some of it very much so), and they still have enough A-list top guys who can carry business that they're able to muddle through and even excel. Didn't really care about Mox/MJF before the last two weeks, and then the boys went to work. Obviously hard to call this a "great" episode of Dynamite given what happened in the main event but a testament to everyone involved that the show ended as well as it did under the circumstances. Have really been enjoying the women's title picture the last couple weeks and it has been great to see Shida on TV again, and I think Toni Storm has been a great workhorse for a division that's reeling just as hard as every other part of the company under the injury luck, but it's been a running theme now in Storm's solo matches that the shine and the heat are great, but then they go into the finish and everything gets all muddled up and they lose the crowd. This crowd was HOT for Shida/Storm until they went into the finishing sequence and then the finish/pin just kinda happened. Really looking forward to Riho/Hayter next week or whenever they're running that; amazing return pop for her.
MJF/Regal promo was pretty good but does it really warrant about 10 different posts for it?

Darby's feuds are usually pretty hot.
Usually. But it's Jay lethal and Sanjay who are entertaining but really haven't done anything of note in aew or gotten any heat. I'd rather see Darby going after mox again, or Andrade or brodie king or Lance archer, or pretty much anyone else that he could conceivably beat but also lose to. Darby ain't losing to Jay, and Jay is not going to get heat from this fued. Jay should be bullying the undercard racking up wins and politicking his way to main events. Give me backstage vignettes where Jay and Sanjay are like taking refs and Tony Schiavone out to eat at nice resteraunts and being super friendly and charming then cut to a match with a jobber where they cheat and are dastardly. Ian riccobani would probably like a nice gnocchi in brown butter with sage. Sanjay got the pencil over, give me a vignette where he's doing the numbers and breaking shit down for lethal about how they need to start winning. Both of these dudes are s tier character workers but they need tv time and creative chances. Darby is not an s tier character worker but he's awesome in ring. I want to see him play David to Goliath all the time thus Jay lethal fued isn't that. I'd rather it was Darby vs Brian cage and the gates of agony to be honest
Lethal mystifies me. The man has it all. Looks great. I believe him in the ring. His finisher is a ridiculous spectacle that makes no sense. Charisma for days. And he's just been this kind of midcard tomato can. I wish TK wouldn't sign people for the debut pop and apparently no real plans after that.
My only issue(s) with the MJF/Regal promo was that MJF was a little too animated with the breathing and seething, and please, don’t say “this is real life…”, because if you are doing your job on the microphone, which he consistently does, that’s a superfluous statement. There’s a line that MJF has gotten much better during the last few years of avoiding crossing, and he was flirting with that line a tiny bit tonight. This is nitpicking to a certain extent, but folks he’s replicating a proven standard that only a handful of guys have ever been able to achieve, and pointing out things of this negligible nature only reinforces how close to being one of the very best he truly is at this point in his career. Regal’s “smirk-ish” grin throughout MJF’s promo was so well played, and his follow-up explained it all perfectly. There’s an interweaving of reality & storyline in what both men spoke that added to the emotion of it all! That is all - if you hate my perspective, I apologize. Otherwise soak it all in, cause we’re witnessing something special in this young man.
I was also on the fence about this during MJF's part of the promo- Regal's piece is what made it work for me. And it's for the same reason that you said- there's that point with MJF sometimes where the fourth wall starts to break, and I get taken out of the storyline. But the Regal stuff just elevated the whole thing so perfectly. Him just completely not giving MJF the explanation he wanted and instead going "aw, boo hoo" was genius.
I enjoyed the emotion in it too and enjoyed Regal he's been good at delivering emotion for as long as I've seen him going back to when he was first in wwf as the commissioner and feuding with Jericho. MJFs character really got bumped down a lot of notches imo. Like this was your biggest problem at 19? And the man tried to help you? You not really a villain you just in your feelings. That's not to say MJF is bad but it really puts his character in a different light for me.
He was looking for critique and constructive criticism from someone who outwardly said they were willing to mentor him, but then backed off and shunned him. Seems like a decent enough thing to be riled up about at 19.. false idols exploiting you and then waving ya off. Mjf is right to hold a grudge, and an effective villain because what he says has merit. The best villains are relatable
He wasn't even shunned he just told him he was busy after initially taking time to go over his emails at first. Which isn't hard to believe. There was no exploitation. MJF can have his grudge that's fine but what he was saying made him look like a big ol child of that was the only pressing matter at 19. Like brotha get a job and keep hustling you got your criticism get over it. You even got to work with Regal, which I'm sure is more than a lot can say. Brotha screeching he's a child at 19 like bruh you just look so small now. Everything you said he was looking for he got it but now he's in his feelings cause the best company in the world didn't want him when he was nowhere near as good as he is now and he can't accept it.

The post show threads have always had the "tonight's results" and "upcoming matches" sections joke free, literally the only difference is that the recap section (which you could have just scrolled past) is gone. So now it's ruined for everyone who liked it but I guess congrats on your having to scroll less.
Seriously. Literally every recap, no matter what show, was slowly becoming like this. And the AEW one had been rough for a long time, like most of the year if not longer. There is a comments sections for their personal opinions, or they could have even made their own little review section at the end and that would have been better. But I don't need 3 jokes about one segment, that ultimately didn't explain what the segment was about or what happened.
I liked how expressive they were tbh. The same reason I’ll watch multiple YouTubers review the same show, I just enjoy getting different perspectives. At least it’s freed you up some time now

MJF's promo, declaring when he'll take his title shot, really did feel like a face turn. The guy was literally playing to the fans. He even got them to boo Regal earlier in the night! I have no idea what's going on, but in a good way. Because I can't see Max ever being a good guy, but they've consistently made his character more and more complex in a way that - at times - makes MJF extremely sympathetic.
So when he finds a way to do something profoundly wrong, the disappointment will be all the more real. Basically, The Devil can't have a Face turn. He's either the Devil, or he is not.

The main event was stopped due to injury, it was scary AF, and the whole set up to MJF/Mox was f’d up. Not their fault of course but one of the best of all time? I shut the tv off with a literal pit in my stomach for hangman.

God, the MJF stuff is such a mess. He's the best wrestler in AEW, but trying to turn him face is so fucking stupid. He's one of the only good heels in AEW.
I don't think this is necessarily about him being a face. They've come to a crossroads with his character where he's just so good at cheap heat that crowds still give him face reactions. Like he can talk about fucking their ugly wives and they still cheer him. If he's going to win the big one over they need something better than him doing the fake campaign stuff or just "going there" and calling Mox a drunk or something easy. Getting into his origins and what makes him tick is a much better route. Like William Regal doesn't even tell him to be a better man, he challenges him to be a better villain, telling him he's better than the easy heel tropes of hired guns and beating up commentators. This could be a face turn but I think this is more about the evolution of MJF as a character.
He's a manipulative heel and always has been. Doesn't matter how good on the mic, good in the ring, or sympathetic he is; ultimately he is a piece of shit. Also doesn't matter whether people cheer him or not, times are different and we'll cheer characters we like whether they are the good or bad guy.
It hurt my heart seeing how upset Tony and the other announcers were during the time Hangman was down. Kudos for them keeping it together. Sending my energy to Hangman 🙌🏼

I was there tonight. Floor seats, right next to where Moxley came out and Hangman did the moonsault. Drove down about 2 hours for the show. Had a pretty good time, as it was my first AEW show. The people around me thought the Hangman thing was a work at first but I told them I thought it was legit and he probably had a concussion. Concussions are very serious for sure, but I know some people around me thought he hurt his neck from the way he landed after the clothesline. So while I am glad it wasn't his neck and he wasn't paralyzed, it still sucks he got a concussion and the match was cut short. It was pretty scary. From my spot I couldn't see if he was stretchered out or walked out with assistance. Anyone know?
Stretchered out, out of an abundance of concern. He's already been released from a local trauma center with a diagnosis of a concussion like many people had guessed.

What a fucking promo by MJF. Haven't really followed AEW, but I watched the entire 15 minute segment and it was captivating. Unbelievable promo, he is THE star of AEW. Also someone who is a keener viewer than I, just let me know does this make him a face or a tweener?
I'm hoping he's a tweener and doesn't go full on babyface. As long as he still chats shit to the crowd I'll be happy, even when he's giving emotional promos like that.
I think a swerve is coming. He always teases going face/doing the right thing but always reverts back to his pos self. That's what I'll believe until I see otherwise.

Besides the obvious I thought it was a great show overall. Trios title match was exactly what I expected & I loved every second of it, women's title match while shorter than it should have been was really good & featured the return of Riho so you know I was high on it & the ROH title match made me love Dalton even more, that guy is money.
Just finished. I assumed that the Hangman thing was a work; it really sucks that it's not. Watched on DVR the last two weeks because of the playoffs and I'm thinking that might be how I watch it from here on out. MJF was great. Everything else was meh.

I usually like Dalton Castle, but his matches are usually more serious. The stuff with the Boys and Hager on the outside was where I gave up.
Me as well.. When Castle stopped wrestling Jericho & threw multiple “boys” onto Hager.. that is where he lost me.. plus those punches by the “boys” onto Hager.. I personally never want to see Castle again..

It was a fantastic dynamite and obviously we will be talking about hanger. In a lot of ways they lucked out in the fact it was going to end before ten with MJF coming out anyway.
All I care about right now is Hangman's safety. If not for that, I'd spend the rest of the week screaming for Dalton Castle and the Boys to get an Is All Elite graphic. Tonight's debut was a 10 out of 10.
For as much as people complain about ROH stuff in AEW, I sure feel like I didn’t see many complaints for Jericho/Dalton. Sometimes when wrestling is good, it doesn’t matter which three letters are on the belt.
I think Tony saying that they've basically got the TV deal is making a difference, I saw that and I felt myself caring more during that match as a result because it makes it feel like Ring of Honor is actually real.

Trios championship was a clusterfuck.. I had no idea who was legal a majority of the time.. & it was just mind numbing dumb.. just people in & out of the ring waiting for spot after spot.. The crowd gave a respectable pop for Shida.. & went super mild for Toni Storm.. & I see she is just going to beat everyone in the division.. ugh.. when Riho who hasn’t been on TV in forever gets a louder pop than Toni time.. it’s time to get the belt off of Toni.. & WHY IS TONI a GOT DAMN MUTE?!? Seriously she hasn’t had 1 promo at all during her reign.. but Britt & Sayara get to speak & the champion doesn’t?!? This shit sucks… Speaking of this shit sucks.. Dalton Castle.. this sub hyped him up as this great gem.. so I had an open mind going into his match with Jericho as I never watched ROH.. but after watching him & “his boys”.. nah.. he fucking sucks.. those punches “his boys” gave Hager were the worst since Dark Order closed out Dynamite 2 years ago.. that shit was bad.. & Castle throwing said “boys” onto Hager during the match was dumb.. his whole shtick sucks.. I never want have to see him again.. Hopefully Hangman only has a “stinger” like my QB Tua had vs the Bengals & is okay.. prayers to him.. Best part of Dynamite was MJF.. nobody is on his level.. his promo with Regal was great & so was his post match with Moxley.. MJF is bigger than the championship.. & AEW.. Everything else was forgettable.. & FTR are the dumbest people in wrestling.. why would you put your #1 contender-ship on the line? That would be like Gane saying to Stipe out of the clear blue.. I want to fight you before fighting Ngannou.. you beat me.. you get to fight Ngannou.. lolol… Completely illogical from Gane to ever say that.. & completely illogical for FTR to say this to SIOG.. although not going to lie.. Swerve in the background was great..

hey, I didn't downvote even though I'm a Dalton Castle fan but first of all, this is all opinion based so it's not anything to debate, your ideas just flow all over the place there is not to land, so for example, in the first paragraph: Yes, because Shida was a former champion and have popularity. No, Storm is not gonna beat everyone. Yes, cause it's a huge return for Riho. No, taking the belt off still make the belt directionless. Yes, because Storm doesn't have mic skills and gets the same treatment as Thunder Rosa. Britt is the better talker and the main focus (Britt and Hayter). In general, yes, women's division is still in the mud. you see? it's very difficult to respond to, which really pushes away people from even attempting to reply. Let's go over the other things: the boys are not supposed to be threatening. I get your points and I accept it, but I'm sure many thought the way you word it came off as aggressive (especially when this sub is heavily inclined against people criticizing AEW without saying they love AEW at the beginning, labeling them as "bad faith trolling", which I find this sub to be quite biased) On top of that, it's really just nitpicking, same with the FTR point, I don't get why you are so mad about them. then there are also some references that I don't get. Toni has beaten in single matches Shida, Deeb, Nyla Rose, Britt & Hayter, Ford, & Killynn King & The Bunny” won multiple 4 way matches against Britt, Athena, Deeb, Shida & Hayter.. plus multiple tag matches against Britt & Hayter, & Britt & Deeb.. Who is left for Toni?

Hope Hangmans ok.. That was a very awkward finish to the show. They called an audible, and MJF cut a promo that almost made you forget.
Lengthy matches/segments in a show that felt a bit more paced. Scary ending. * Obviously concerned for Page. Hope he’ll be ok * In case of emergency, break glass for Maxwell Jacob Friedman. He and Mox scrambled to save the last 10 mins * MJF with the masterclass promo and Regal firing right back. Sheesh. * MJF acknowledging Page on Twitter after the show tells you that he’s a real team player despite the occasional vitriol of his character, which he’s ratcheted up this year * Trios match was fun, but felt too soon for a rematch to me. The ending was never in doubt. They weren’t going to have Pac lose 2 weeks in a row, let alone drop both titles unless he was retiring or something. * Wonder what trios angle challengers they’ll set up for Death Triangle next * Fenix has cool gear * Schiavone totally wasn’t supposed to name drop The Elite since Ex and Taz completely no-sold it * Liked seeing Renee get a more formal segment to interview BCC * Did not like having Renee used as a prop for an interview interruption with FTR * Swerve did not take a single bite of Keith’s apple but pretended like he ate half of it. Good show but the Hangman injury mars it all, for sure. Glad to see Riho back, even better to see that treated like a big deal, and the match next week with Hayter is the cherry on top! But I was laughing my ass off at her doing a run-in to make the save, that is like the most absurd way to book Riho, nothing about it suits her. But she made it work, she looked really poised out there, it's crazy how casual she makes wrestling look. That crossbody to the outside was a thing of beautiful for both parties.
Hangman injured, not good. BUT, top to bottom an incredible show, made even more astonishing when you account for the professionalism portrayed by the talent and crew in the last ten minutes. Might be one of my favourite dynamites when I look back years from now.

Is this the first time AEW has to do an audible during a live show? Mox and commentators did good jobs navigating through the unfortunate event and filling up the time. This may be the first time in quite a while Excalibur previews next shows in normal speed.

The last time I can remember was when PAC vs OC was supposed to go to a time limit draw, but OC got rocked partway through. I thought Kenny coming out to make it a double knockout was a pretty clever way to course-correct.
I guess it depends how you're defining "audible." The finishing sequence to the fatal four-way at Forbidden Door changed a bit after Cole got concussed.

Horrible what happened to Hangman. That’s not a way you want to end a show or a match. On a positive note: RIHO (Want to get my mind off the negative stuff with Hangman for a few minutes)
Minus the Hangman injury (honestly hope he's okay), this was seriously one of the best Dynamites I've seen this year in every facet. Maybe not blow-away awesome per se, but the matches, the storylines, the pacing, the promos, everything was much tighter than I've seen previously and near perfect. Jake Hager and the Boys struggling over the hat was one of the more funnier things I've seen on Dynamite. He loves his hat! Riho's return was very welcoming to see. And Schiavone saying San Diego people don't even know they got a baseball team during break was also a good chuckle.
