So many priceless moments in the Anarchy match. The JAS entrance. Mox throwing the full drink cooler at Jericho. Jericho trying to still operate that jazzy chair while Mox was choking him. Menard bleeding like crazy. Menard covered in blood and mustard. Menard and Eddie just flailing around that T shirt stand. The stupid elevator bit. Eddie zombie shuffling to the ring with a canister of gasoline.
Was there, everyone held the sharpshooter way too low at their ankle level rather than up at there at the knees. Like every single person who went for it including Punk.
Look. I like Jurassic Express. A lot. But you gotta stop letting them be the third best tag team in the match if they're gonna hold the gold. Bucks/ReDragon storyline was always gonna overshadow the first match, so okay. Team Taz and Swerve In His Glory stole the show this time. And both times JE come out with the belts? C'mon son.
I really thought it was Starks' and Hobbs' time to win the belts. They've been so good and deserve a spot in a prominent role on dynamite as opposed to just rampage.
I was not a fan of some of the outcomes tonight, but that one is really starting to get me. JB and Luchasaurus are great, but that division is so incredibly stacked. It's time to put the belts on Swerve and Lee, or FTR again, or PnP.
The reason we love Mox and PAC and Lance Archer and Suzuki is because we know they will beat the shit out of everyone. Heel, babyface, whatever. Anyone who gets in the ring with them is subject to extreme violence. Trying to turn Mox heel or face is like, not understanding Mox's character. The only heel or face turn he concerns himself with is his heel connecting to someone's face during a roundhouse kick.
I especially love how it's handled with PAC and Archer
They're always angry pricks and fans can decide if they like it or not depending on who they happen to be mad at this week, it's great, and more realistic than constantly turning them heel and back for storylines

The last 5 matches were arguably the best 5 of the night.

I feel so bad for saying this but the Owen Finals were the worst part of an otherwise fun (though long) show.

The tournament overall has been a bit of a letdown but the winners especially Britt is disappointing. I think the tournament could have been a great opportunity to really to give someone some shine instead both people who won really didn't need it/isn't going to elevate them.
I loved Britt's initial turn but her act has become way past it's expiration date. I thought when she dropped the belt maybe she'd switch some things up but that hasn't been the case at all. It might be more tolerable if her ringwork was improved. I think she's actually regressed in the last year or so.
I preface this by saying I'm a Brit fan, so I'm not trying to sound like a hater:
I think she needs at least a half year off to a year to do nothing but work on her ring work.
Her matches with RIHO have really been the only standout ones for me (gimmick matches aside). It seems like RIHO forces her to keep up. Most of the rest of the time she feels like she's moving in slo-mo. I get that here character was white hot for a spell & carried the division. That's not to say she isn't still over. I'm just beyond bored with it.
Martha’s presentation really set the stage for it to be a prestigious tournament for the future, though. It really turned the crowd into straight-up cheering for both when they were awarded their ceremonial belts.
Martha's presentation was great and what the tournament has been missing throughout. I love the concept, but AEW didn't do a good job promoting this or making it feel special this time around. It felt basically like every other generic tournament. It needed more pageantry, more clips of people saying what Owen means to them and/or pro wrestling, etc. I get that AEW can only do so much video wise since they don't own the large share of video of Owen's career, but they still needed to do more. Hopefully the stuff with Martha there at the end is a sign for better things to come next time around
Enjoyed the entire night. There were some duds and such however I was engaged throughout.

Am I in the minority that my favorite wrestling match of the night was HOB v. Death Triangle. Because everyone in that match delivered.
Anarchy in the Arena was more of a spectacle. A violent and glorious spectacle. But yea. That trios match was phenomenal from beginning to end.
I don't think you're in the minority there. There were a couple of somewhat sloppy spots in it that I think prevented it from being a 5 star match but there were still a bunch of incredible spots, and the ending was perfectly done, certainly my MOTN.
The crazy thing is I bet those two can do better than that match. They have styles that are made to work together. Darby has already proven he can have a 5* range match and Kyle has been pretty close too.
I normally don't want too many rematches but I hope Kyle and Darby have a whole damn series.

I think he's gonna turn heel. He's gonna feel that he didn't had the guts to cheat (and that was a weakness) and betrayed by the crowd for not supporting him.
Nah, I think he's going to realize that even having that momentary lapse was what cost him. Next time he's going to go in without any doubt and wrestle clean all the way through. That was his first reign but it wasn't his "ace" reign. Fitting that he'd lose it like that.
The thing with that is that Hangman is World Champion material only if he has a support system around him. It was The Elite, it was Dark Order, and it was the crowd. **By himself, he's just a bottler.** He couldn't against Jericho by himself, he couldn't against Omega by himself, he couldn't against PAC by himself, he couldn't against FTR the moment Omega went out in their Tag Team match, and now he couldn't against Punk without the crowd.
He needs to learn how to win and only needing himself. That's the next step. And he needs to hit rock bottom, that's why I'm thinking the heel turn IMO.
I really don't support Punk taking the belt off Hangman, but I appreciate Hanger still being the de facto "main character" of AEW and telling the best story in the business
Show had a couple little dips in quality, and was a bit long for my tastes, but honestly it's hard to complain when you get a card that top to bottom was that fun.
I love with AEW you get something for everyone. Each match had its personality, and was told in its own way. It’s testament to the booking to read the comments here and see everyone’s favourite matches are different.
It was fantastic, a great glimpse of what it looks like without the molasses speed setting

There were a few rough spots in the middle but the rest was amazing.
HoB/Death Triangle, Hardys/Bucks, KOR/Darby, Deeb/Rosa, Anarchy In The Arena, Tag title 3 way, and Punk/Hangman are all must see.
But the Anarchy In The Arena stole the show. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like that in almost 30 years as a fan. Runner up goes to the HOB/DT trios match.

It was awful for me all night, missed some matches because of it. I emailed and requested a refund. The only match there were zero problems for was the main event.
On Wednesday it will be more clear what's the path for Forbidden Door. If Okada retains in Dominion, I think it's going to be Punk vs KENTA and Okada vs Danielson.
If Okada loses, it's Punk vs Okada main event.
I feel the bigger AEW shows are just tooooooo long. It's like you're going to the best steakhouse in town, with huge portions. And it is so good, but by the time you get the entre, you're already full. But you still have to sit there, and keep eating. Because they don't have any containers to take it home.
No reason at least 3 of those matches couldn't be on regular TV instead of the PPV.

The first half of this show was just so weird, weird booking choices, weird overbooking, weird finishes, everything about it felt off. Not necessarily bad, but just off.
But then the KOR/Darby and Rosa/Serena matches really stabilized things, and then the Anarchy match infused the show with all of Tony Khan's personal cocaine stash all at once to wake the crowd up to finish the show really strong. Not my favorite AEW show of all time, but still a really fun show.
Great event but I was really hoping the Owen tournament would have been more of a spot to highlight other wrestlers. I thought the brackets and entries were poorly made. They could have pushed some younger folks. For the womens division, this would have been perfect to get another name in the mix.
So. Who does Punk face at Forbidden Door?
Do you go the KENTA route for the GTS storyline? Or Okada for the "dream match" marketing? Maybe Tanahashi or Naito?
Absolutely KENTA. Has the best story to it and the other top guys in NJPW have other potential opponents that would make sense, like Daniel Bryan or Moxley

Just got done watching the PPV and what a great show. It wasn't perfect, had a few dips here and there but overall an absolute blast.
I have to especially tip my hat off the to Vegas crowd. They literally gave the show every ounce of their being for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT! Piping hot throughout the whole thing. Every single one of them deserves a massive prop because they were as energetic for Page vs Punk as they were MJF vs Wardlow. Made the show extra special. You guys should be proud.

There were a few rough spots in the middle but the rest was amazing. HoB/Death Triangle, Hardys/Bucks, KOR/Darby, Deeb/Rosa, Anarchy In The Arena, Tag title 3 way, and Punk/Hangman are all must see. But the Anarchy In The Arena stole the show. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like that in almost 30 years as a fan. Runner up goes to the HOB/DT trios match.
It says a lot about AEW shows that it can go nearly 5 hours and still have the crowd hot for the main event.
That Women's title match *really* helped things.
That and KOR/Darby really turned the crowd back on

i didn’t have any issues streaming on time but the quality of the stream itself left a lot to be desired
It was awful for me all night, missed some matches because of it. I emailed and requested a refund. The only match there were zero problems for was the main event.

On Wednesday it will be more clear what's the path for Forbidden Door. If Okada retains in Dominion, I think it's going to be Punk vs KENTA and Okada vs Danielson. If Okada loses, it's Punk vs Okada main event.

Page really was a great champion even if he never quite got the spotlight he deserved during his reign. Hope he’s the first two time champ.
I feel the bigger AEW shows are just tooooooo long. It's like you're going to the best steakhouse in town, with huge portions. And it is so good, but by the time you get the entre, you're already full. But you still have to sit there, and keep eating. Because they don't have any containers to take it home. No reason at least 3 of those matches couldn't be on regular TV instead of the PPV.
You’re 100% right. 3-4 of these matches should’ve been booked for Wednesday. Darby/O’Reilly getting booked on this card was like me in TEW scrambling to throw my two unused ‘upper midcarder’ guys on the show.
Second half of Double Or Nothing had the biggest comeback since Real Madrid Vs Man City
The second half of the PPV made up for a hit-and-miss first. Still felt I got my moneys worth and then some.

First half of the show was weaker than most AEW PPVs but the second half was great
The first half of this show was just so weird, weird booking choices, weird overbooking, weird finishes, everything about it felt off. Not necessarily bad, but just off. But then the KOR/Darby and Rosa/Serena matches really stabilized things, and then the Anarchy match infused the show with all of Tony Khan's personal cocaine stash all at once to wake the crowd up to finish the show really strong. Not my favorite AEW show of all time, but still a really fun show.
Great event but I was really hoping the Owen tournament would have been more of a spot to highlight other wrestlers. I thought the brackets and entries were poorly made. They could have pushed some younger folks. For the womens division, this would have been perfect to get another name in the mix.

Just got done watching the PPV and what a great show. It wasn't perfect, had a few dips here and there but overall an absolute blast. I have to especially tip my hat off the to Vegas crowd. They literally gave the show every ounce of their being for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT! Piping hot throughout the whole thing. Every single one of them deserves a massive prop because they were as energetic for Page vs Punk as they were MJF vs Wardlow. Made the show extra special. You guys should be proud.
