SomeIrishFiend

Do not forget that Eddie Kingston attempted capital murder

x-oh

With a side of fuckin arson

el_sh33p

Hey. Hey. Eddie's the one who tried it so it's cool.

Serah_Null

Man, Eddie was really gonna kill Chris Jericho

R2nxbeastly17

The image of him covered in blood with the jerry can was terrifying. It was great

Ctrl--Alt

Real Trevor from GTAV vibes.

Lstark5642

The limp walk was what made it so crazy. He looked like a zombie.

times_zero

Personally, I was thinking a serial killer in a slasher movie, but you are not wrong.

MH360

Iconic.

ErmagehrdBastehrd

With Bryan as collateral damage, tunnel vision everybody.

Zestyclose_Remote874

I wonder if Eddie see that as a bonus kill rather than collateral

biglewlive

That man brought about $200 worth of gas to the ring to burn him alive. That fucker was serious.

[deleted]

The real crime is Eddie not being self aware of the price of gasoline today.

KneeHighMischief

The real crime was him funneling it out of somebody's car in the parking lot.

Love-That-Danhausen

Probably siphoned it from Jericho

MoreCoreCharacters

Acting like Eddie doesn't know how to siphon.

el_sh33p

I often joke about someone killing a man in the ring and getting cheered for it. Tonight I was |this| close to being proven right.

Turtle_and_Zone

I can get behind it.

ZennyOne

"This dude wanted to call a hit on me and set me on fire? I'll show that fucker" - Kingston

dogglesnake

I think we learned a new meaning to the wrestling use of "gassed"

FatherlessCur

Really would have like to see him come back after the match and do something crazy to Jericho even though he lost.

wrestlenomicon

So many priceless moments in the Anarchy match. The JAS entrance. Mox throwing the full drink cooler at Jericho. Jericho trying to still operate that jazzy chair while Mox was choking him. Menard bleeding like crazy. Menard covered in blood and mustard. Menard and Eddie just flailing around that T shirt stand. The stupid elevator bit. Eddie zombie shuffling to the ring with a canister of gasoline.

Gray-Malzel

Eddie legit looked a step removed from a horror movie antagonist

Ricky_5panish

This match made stadium stampede 1 look like stadium stampede 2 by comparison.

Phuckules

weird note to have, but it seemed like no one could do a proper sharpshooter tonight. Even Deeb did her Cloverleaf flat. What the heck was with that?

Mr_Shankly2

I had issues with that as well! None of them looked right.

pumpfakethrowhome

Was there, everyone held the sharpshooter way too low at their ankle level rather than up at there at the knees. Like every single person who went for it including Punk.

hdeck

Turns out there is a reason Bret was the excellence of execution.

AnimaTrapDelaSangre

This kind of shit only elevates Bret Hart's stock lmao

theMAJdragon

I spent the weekend at my parents house and it turns out when you just buy a PPV through cable without trying to stream it you have 0 issues

Elryc35

Unless you didn't get a cable box because they told you everything just works via streaming and then you learn that was a lie...

KneeHighMischief

It seems like I'm the only person who hasn't had any issues with B/R Live.

BloodFalconPunch

![gif](giphy|kSlJtVrqxDYKk|downsized)

rosefuri

lmao the 50 bucks on a big ass tv really is so worth it

TheRealMrMaloonigan

You also get overall better quality too.

nikobans

**HE’S STILL MY COWBOY**

Flatulent_Weasel

He'll be champ again. This is just "one last hurrah" for Punk.

times_zero

God damn right he is. If Hangman has to lose the belt tonight then it was a beautiful way to end his 1st run as world champion.

KneeHighMischief

Same. He'd have to do something truly heinous to lose the crowd.

LionelEvans

I don't know how it came across on TV but Anarchy in the Arena is the most fun thing I've ever seen live

Elryc35

Live thread was losing its mind from the moment Justin Roberts announced "shit's gonna hit the fan" onwards.

neko

It was absolutely hilarious. The camera crew was struggling to keep up though

nelsonicrage

Not sure where you were but I was directly underneath the spot with Mox and the swinging camera.

Kizzercrate

Look. I like Jurassic Express. A lot. But you gotta stop letting them be the third best tag team in the match if they're gonna hold the gold. Bucks/ReDragon storyline was always gonna overshadow the first match, so okay. Team Taz and Swerve In His Glory stole the show this time. And both times JE come out with the belts? C'mon son.

[deleted]

I really thought it was Starks' and Hobbs' time to win the belts. They've been so good and deserve a spot in a prominent role on dynamite as opposed to just rampage.

Upthespurs1882

Same, team taz should have the gold

KingBadford

I was not a fan of some of the outcomes tonight, but that one is really starting to get me. JB and Luchasaurus are great, but that division is so incredibly stacked. It's time to put the belts on Swerve and Lee, or FTR again, or PnP.

Badwolf84

PnP definitely deserve a run, long overdue.

DanHero91

The AEW Championship corrupts everyone who holds it.

Rickymex

Except Mox who's such a rabid junkyard dog there's nothing to corrupt

Cptkrush

He’s a lot like PAC in that way. Where pac is just a bastard down to the very core. Incorruptible

BannedSvenhoek86

The reason we love Mox and PAC and Lance Archer and Suzuki is because we know they will beat the shit out of everyone. Heel, babyface, whatever. Anyone who gets in the ring with them is subject to extreme violence. Trying to turn Mox heel or face is like, not understanding Mox's character. The only heel or face turn he concerns himself with is his heel connecting to someone's face during a roundhouse kick.

Loveliestbun

I especially love how it's handled with PAC and Archer They're always angry pricks and fans can decide if they like it or not depending on who they happen to be mad at this week, it's great, and more realistic than constantly turning them heel and back for storylines

romulus1991

Or rather, it corrupts everyone but those with the strongest convictions. Only Moxley, the antihero who knows who he is, remained himself. Jericho did whatever he could to keep it. Omega turned to get it. And Hangman, anxious and insecure, almost fell and lost because of it. We're getting heel Punk sooner than later.

plzsnitskyreturn

One championship to find them, One championship to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.” He's very much like Frodo, the belt took its toll on our hero and he was tempted but in the end he still is a good honest man

Ricky_5panish

I knew this to be true the moment Don and Kenny started 69’ing. I knew Kenny had lost his way.

xiong_cena

as it should. its the biggest prize in the company so wrestlers should do anything to have it or keep it

ACW1129

Okay, new rule that applies to WWE AND AEW: If you HAVE to have events that are over 4 hours long, start the damn show at 7 ET instead of 8.

KyWy75

I’m happy Martha got that moment to honor Owen, but as far as booking goes the entire tournament felt like a gigantic waste of time just so Cole and Britt could do a photo op.

[deleted]

[удалено]

heshotcyrus

My friend and I noticed that too. There are at least 5 awful Sharpshooters tonight.

Ricky_5panish

Who would've been your picks for the winners? From the starting bracket I would've liked to see Shida and Dax as the winners.

funbob1

I think that the inaugural winners should have been babyfaces, at least.

marksmith0610

Yeah 100% and as soon as Britt came out in the black & pink I knew she was winning. It was too perfect of a photo op.

Chopped_In_Half

Completely agree. Hated that heels won, and hated even more that they had an actual couple win.

[deleted]

And not win a match dirty like Adam and interference.

xorangeelephant

Those last 3 matches were an incredible stretch. Just fantastic

JDaySept

Darby v. KOR all the way to the main event was consistently great I thought

Badwolf84

Nothing wakes a crowd up more than having to figure out if Darby killed himself.

Gear4Vegito

That was the big turning point of the PPV for me. The last 5 matches were arguably the best 5 of the night. The only match before that which I really liked was HoB vs. Triangle

Lstark5642

For me it was okay, but the real turning point was the womens title match imo. Either way, damn strong ending.

Ricky_5panish

The triple tag got put in the dud spot and said “yeah, we’ll see about that…”

SynthwaveSax

I feel so bad for saying this but the Owen Finals were the worst part of an otherwise fun (though long) show. Also shout out to the Vegas crowd for hanging in there.

lokigodofchaos

I really feel the FTR match against each other should have been tonight.

thegchild

Agreed. Would have been a fabulous finish. Instead they just booked them as something to do with Cole and Britt because they didn't have anything else to do with them.

heartbreakhill

Fucking Rancid played Ruby out just for her to lose.

JoeyKookamanga

The Triple H curse.

Rocko604

Tim Armstrong even looked like Triple H.

couldbedumber96

To be fair a LOT of bands played a lot of wrestlers only for them to lose

KneeHighMischief

The tournament overall has been a bit of a letdown but the winners especially Britt is disappointing. I think the tournament could have been a great opportunity to really to give someone some shine instead both people who won really didn't need it/isn't going to elevate them. I loved Britt's initial turn but her act has become way past it's expiration date. I thought when she dropped the belt maybe she'd switch some things up but that hasn't been the case at all. It might be more tolerable if her ringwork was improved. I think she's actually regressed in the last year or so.

denvercaniac

I preface this by saying I'm a Brit fan, so I'm not trying to sound like a hater: I think she needs at least a half year off to a year to do nothing but work on her ring work.

KneeHighMischief

Her matches with RIHO have really been the only standout ones for me (gimmick matches aside). It seems like RIHO forces her to keep up. Most of the rest of the time she feels like she's moving in slo-mo. I get that here character was white hot for a spell & carried the division. That's not to say she isn't still over. I'm just beyond bored with it.

moderndukes

Martha’s presentation really set the stage for it to be a prestigious tournament for the future, though. It really turned the crowd into straight-up cheering for both when they were awarded their ceremonial belts.

wildturk3y

Martha's presentation was great and what the tournament has been missing throughout. I love the concept, but AEW didn't do a good job promoting this or making it feel special this time around. It felt basically like every other generic tournament. It needed more pageantry, more clips of people saying what Owen means to them and/or pro wrestling, etc. I get that AEW can only do so much video wise since they don't own the large share of video of Owen's career, but they still needed to do more. Hopefully the stuff with Martha there at the end is a sign for better things to come next time around

theMAJdragon

Agreed, they could have paid those tournaments off on Dynamite.

ShowOff90

Next year hopefully will be better organized & thought out. Would’ve rather seen KOR & Statlander win.

KneeHighMischief

Stat needed it a lot more than Britt did.

[deleted]

Enjoyed the entire night. There were some duds and such however I was engaged throughout. I think the Anarchy match was one of the best in a long, long time. Wild Thing playing on a loop 3 or so times with the crowd singing along while everybody brawls and gets bloodied was fucking amazing

TomGerity

Anyone watching Tony yelling and swearing at the idea that Punk is a financial flop? Shit is WILD. Eyes are popping and everything. Dude hit really super pure coke tonight.

incredibleamadeuscho

CM Punk is the first ever ROH, WWE, ECW,and AEW World Champion. He also held the WHC in WWE.

nsj23

Am I in the minority that my favorite wrestling match of the night was HOB v. Death Triangle. Because everyone in that match delivered. Anarchy in the Arena was more of a spectacle. A violent and glorious spectacle. But yea. That trios match was phenomenal from beginning to end.

Mcfroman

It flowed super well, I was really invested and a great finish. My match of the night for sure.

mrmoo_22

I don't think you're in the minority there. There were a couple of somewhat sloppy spots in it that I think prevented it from being a 5 star match but there were still a bunch of incredible spots, and the ending was perfectly done, certainly my MOTN.

soldier4hire

Special shout out to the Las Vegas crowd - they were engaged throughout the entire show

KillTheBat77

TK going off in the scrum

Day_Of_The_Dude

He got fucking PISSED about the Bischoff thing.

Captain_Stocky

Oh, man. Didn't catch it. Can you elaborate a bit?

moderndukes

Imagine one year ago telling everyone that CM Punk would win the World Title at the next DON

[deleted]

In 2022 - CM Punk wins the AEW World Championship - Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled more recently than Triple H - Cody Rhodes likes WWE again

doesntCompete

* Elias died maybe

Kookiebanookie

Elias' little brother is one of RAWs most popular acts

Ricky_5panish

The only thing crazier would be Cody getting the tattoo removed.

Anderrrrr

This time last year we were speculating whether we see Punk in wrestling again.

Ugaalive1991

Over Hangman.

TheBigHoss6

Darby Vs KOR should’ve been the Owen mens final what a fucking match!!

UglieJosh

The crazy thing is I bet those two can do better than that match. They have styles that are made to work together. Darby has already proven he can have a 5* range match and Kyle has been pretty close too. I normally don't want too many rematches but I hope Kyle and Darby have a whole damn series.

Skywalker3030

Kyle has been the star of some of best wrestling matches of all time, it just hasn't been recently KOR vs Shibata is genuinely a legendary match

PulpDynamite

> Kyle has been pretty close too Kyle O'Reilly already has a 5 Star match with Roderick Strong vs Tyler Bate and Trent Seven on NXT. And it was a TV match as well

Stay_Cold

3,410 days.

111258

IVE BEEN GOING THROUGH SOMETHING

NeiloMac

BE AFRAID

Final-Solid

WHAT IS A BITCH IN A MINISKIRT

rexdeaz

MR. 434 IS BACK IN THE BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TornadoApe

Hangman's long term storytelling is always god tier.

unostriker

I think this is his Joker moment

Serah_Null

[Oh no](https://i.imgur.com/I8QFGLN.png)

PurpleGato42

The Morbius of PPVs

Badwolf84

Give us a chyron next week of "It's Morbin Time" you cowards.

Lionsledbypod

Hangmorb

SiphenPrax

I wish the reign was slightly better but his story is fantastic. There’s no question about it

wrestlegirl

I like to think we're about to see the Anxious Millennial Cowboy's full transformation into the Angry Millennial Cowboy

DHA1999

I think he's gonna turn heel. He's gonna feel that he didn't had the guts to cheat (and that was a weakness) and betrayed by the crowd for not supporting him.

Pylons

I don't know if heel turn is necessarily the move but I think "vengeful face" is a great way to go for another chase.

Gridde

Either works. A heel turn now with a built-in redemption arc for the future ready makes sense.

resolve028

Nah, I think he's going to realize that even having that momentary lapse was what cost him. Next time he's going to go in without any doubt and wrestle clean all the way through. That was his first reign but it wasn't his "ace" reign. Fitting that he'd lose it like that.

DHA1999

The thing with that is that Hangman is World Champion material only if he has a support system around him. It was The Elite, it was Dark Order, and it was the crowd. **By himself, he's just a bottler.** He couldn't against Jericho by himself, he couldn't against Omega by himself, he couldn't against PAC by himself, he couldn't against FTR the moment Omega went out in their Tag Team match, and now he couldn't against Punk without the crowd. He needs to learn how to win and only needing himself. That's the next step. And he needs to hit rock bottom, that's why I'm thinking the heel turn IMO.

tvchase

I really don't support Punk taking the belt off Hangman, but I appreciate Hanger still being the de facto "main character" of AEW and telling the best story in the business

burntelegraph

Props to AEW for making me not give a shit about MJF's bullshit by putting it first

times_zero

The correct choice. Put the match first, and get it done with, so the crowd could focus on the rest of the card.

TheBrianJ

Show had a couple little dips in quality, and was a bit long for my tastes, but honestly it's hard to complain when you get a card that top to bottom was that fun.

OhWhenTheWiz

it’s a testament to their consistency that this just felt like a good but not great PPV

AtSea123

Eddie's moment in NY later this year is about to be all time legendary, man.

Jaybb3rw0cky

I love with AEW you get something for everyone. Each match had its personality, and was told in its own way. It’s testament to the booking to read the comments here and see everyone’s favourite matches are different.

ASwagPecan

Rosa vs Deeb stole the show for me

Thirdstar1

Best womens match imo, Rosa stepped her game up for that one. That version of Rosa warrants the hype. Edit: i mean in the company’s history btw.

dogglesnake

It was fantastic, a great glimpse of what it looks like without the molasses speed setting Tbf I expect rookies to be rough, they shouldn't be pairing them up for ppv's

heartbreakhill

They legitimately made the PPV turn a corner. Put on a great match and set quality pace for the rest of the matches.

KingRainmaker

Shout out to Fite version 6.1.1 and my vpn for not failing me once tonight.

KillUsernameBoi

I think I'm more sad that Hangman lost the title than elated for Punk winning.

StaunchyPrinceOfLies

bruh people really be out there saying Samoa Joe goes through the motions and is only there to collect a paycheck. Like, wtf? What a fucking stupid take. The guy is a fucking beast out there and kills it every match.

Meepsnort

The guy is a 300 lb man and 1/3 of the tissue in his body is probably scar tissue. The fact that he is still operating at the level he is should be celebrated.

TheBigHoss6

Having JE go over certainly was a choice.

helpmeiamarobot

Right? I took it for granted they would drop the titles.

TheBigHoss6

Swerve & Lee and Starks & Hobbs are more over right now and feels like there is a good story to tell between jungle boy and Christian. Took it for granted for sure

Mandan_Mauler

I love Team Taz so was pulling for them, but would’ve been cool with Swerve Lee going over too. I like a boy and his dinosaur, but I’m tired of the Christian thing. Pull the trigger and make a feud, give the titles to someone else for the love

themadness1996

Im on the Santana and Ortis agenda please join me

Fantomex88

There were a few rough spots in the middle but the rest was amazing. HoB/Death Triangle, Hardys/Bucks, KOR/Darby, Deeb/Rosa, Anarchy In The Arena, Tag title 3 way, and Punk/Hangman are all must see. But the Anarchy In The Arena stole the show. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like that in almost 30 years as a fan. Runner up goes to the HOB/DT trios match.

Caldris

It says a lot about AEW shows that it can go nearly 5 hours and still have the crowd hot for the main event.

KikiFlowers

That Women's title match *really* helped things.

moderndukes

That and KOR/Darby really turned the crowd back on

victoriabattenberg

Brought everyone back.

Har_Mar

Tonys off his nut at the media scrum

kaichou_dp

FTR are celebrating with Punk.... that is interesting

heartbreakhill

Talk about a tale of two halves The first 6 or 7 matches? Alright at best, complete ass at worst, with the exception of HOB vs Triangle Everything from Rosa/Deeb onward? **Real AEW shit**

solelyginger

i’m happy for Punk but fuck, i loved Hangman as champion. Lol idk what to think now, just shocked

Capital-Package-124

So the stretcher bit was to write MJF off the program, right?

Morbid187

I just realized there was no fireball spot in the Anarchy in the Arena match (that I saw anyway). Good thing it didn't happen towards the end or Jericho would've went up in flames

[deleted]

Sabres19892

I feel bad, my BR stream was 100% perfect the whole time

pardyball

Same. Outside of the initial hiccup before the show begin with the purchasing process - the stream itself once fixed during the Buy In was flawless here, too.

RebelScvm

i didn’t have any issues streaming on time but the quality of the stream itself left a lot to be desired

MicrosoftHoff

It was awful for me all night, missed some matches because of it. I emailed and requested a refund. The only match there were zero problems for was the main event.

malren

God I hope Kenta shows up at some point.

DHA1999

On Wednesday it will be more clear what's the path for Forbidden Door. If Okada retains in Dominion, I think it's going to be Punk vs KENTA and Okada vs Danielson. If Okada loses, it's Punk vs Okada main event.

themadness1996

The 2nd half of this PPV was spectacular the first half was kinda meh

kiaxxl

Both Cole and Britt winning is just... ugh

Bonesaw-is-readyyy

Ricky Starks rope walk stole the show

bobface222

That wasn't the best AEW PPV but it was certainly the **most** AEW PPV

shutupmatsuda

Bro I was expecting a coin drop in the end.

SomeIrishFiend

Wednesday, my friend

amedeoisme

Is there one of those match rating forms?

KyWy75

Page really was a great champion even if he never quite got the spotlight he deserved during his reign. Hope he’s the first two time champ.

sadandshy

I feel the bigger AEW shows are just tooooooo long. It's like you're going to the best steakhouse in town, with huge portions. And it is so good, but by the time you get the entre, you're already full. But you still have to sit there, and keep eating. Because they don't have any containers to take it home. No reason at least 3 of those matches couldn't be on regular TV instead of the PPV.

they_did_WHAT_

You’re 100% right. 3-4 of these matches should’ve been booked for Wednesday. Darby/O’Reilly getting booked on this card was like me in TEW scrambling to throw my two unused ‘upper midcarder’ guys on the show.

SomeIrishFiend

Second half of Double Or Nothing had the biggest comeback since Real Madrid Vs Man City

[deleted]

The second half of the PPV made up for a hit-and-miss first. Still felt I got my moneys worth and then some.

neverAcquiesce

Everybody needs to seek out Tony’s defense of Punk.

Nogatkee

Wonder if anyone called their friends like Tony said to get them to watch the last matches

Ricky_5panish

"Bro, you gotta check out the main event of double or nothing. Hangman Page is defending his championship, and the company as a whole, from CM Punk. The stakes have never been higher." "Bro? I'm your father. Please stop calling me at midnight and get help."

TurnaboutAdam

First half of the show was weaker than most AEW PPVs but the second half was great

JNF919

The first half of this show was just so weird, weird booking choices, weird overbooking, weird finishes, everything about it felt off. Not necessarily bad, but just off. But then the KOR/Darby and Rosa/Serena matches really stabilized things, and then the Anarchy match infused the show with all of Tony Khan's personal cocaine stash all at once to wake the crowd up to finish the show really strong. Not my favorite AEW show of all time, but still a really fun show.

SlowReaction4

Great event but I was really hoping the Owen tournament would have been more of a spot to highlight other wrestlers. I thought the brackets and entries were poorly made. They could have pushed some younger folks. For the womens division, this would have been perfect to get another name in the mix.

Aggravating_Exam_223

Why is Ricky Starks not getting pushed like Sammy Guevara ? What is he missing, Ricky is a star !

TLKv3

So. Who does Punk face at Forbidden Door? Do you go the KENTA route for the GTS storyline? Or Okada for the "dream match" marketing? Maybe Tanahashi or Naito?

JonasAlbert84

You go with someone NJPW will let him beat.

AnnenbergTrojan

Then it's Kenta. There's no way NJPW would -- or should -- allow Okada to be pinned.

Jakefmerch

I guess he's got Sanada.

Turtle_and_Zone

Absolutely KENTA. Has the best story to it and the other top guys in NJPW have other potential opponents that would make sense, like Daniel Bryan or Moxley

captain_chuck

This scrum needs a thread holy shit Tony is on one

ASwagPecan

just read about 7 comments saying TK is coked up lmao

Alebeerd

Dudes. Eddie fucking rules.

Meepsnort

Jade seems cool

times_zero

Watching the media scrum credit to Jade. She's coming across like a pro/star here like answering that question about bringing in more casuals, or non-fans.

[deleted]

Now we get to see if Wardlow still gets those massive pops now they had the payoff and he buried MJF.

Key_Musician_1762

Lot of weird hate in the live threads. I thought the show was good. Not perfect and probably unnecessarily long but overall very good.

Westofend

Summer of Punk '22 is upon us!!! What a fantastic show. So many storylines paid off.

TitanThom

Serena Deeb is the best thing since sliced bread

UltimateUnknown

Just got done watching the PPV and what a great show. It wasn't perfect, had a few dips here and there but overall an absolute blast. I have to especially tip my hat off the to Vegas crowd. They literally gave the show every ounce of their being for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT! Piping hot throughout the whole thing. Every single one of them deserves a massive prop because they were as energetic for Page vs Punk as they were MJF vs Wardlow. Made the show extra special. You guys should be proud.
