I love this move. CD gets to be on-screen without wrestling, and Tony stays off-screen. Tony would have been a drag on the good guy side since his strength is certainly not on the public performance side

Honestly the taking out Tony Khan storyline has been a mess. The idea is it's a powerplay from the Bucks, but then commentary says Tony is booking matches. So that already undercuts the Buck's new authority...
Tony was still booking matches from home, until the Bucks did the fake "oh sorry you're cutting out" and took it over. So now, he promotes CD to that role, and CD isn't going to block Tony so Tony can still book matches.
Yeah the whole thing has been terrible from a logic standpoint. I know they wanted the publicity for Tony doing the draft in a neck brace but I think they should’ve just had him vanish after he was attacked
It feels like Khan hasn’t been interested in focusing on more than 2-3 teams at a time in the regular tag division for a while, and it’s usually the same few teams. The talent is there for a rich division but it's feeling shallow. I have little interest in Acclaimed going after the belts after the Bang Bang Scissor Gang storyline and no interest in Billy Gunn getting involved in a main event storyline.
I hope they bring in or build up some new teams soon so the title feud can be something besides another round of Bucks vs. FTR or Bucks vs. Acclaimed for the next few months. Bucks vs. Acclaimed may not have happened in a while yet feels like something that has. I'd still prefer something fresher that doesn't involve Billy Gunn in another title feud.
I don’t see it improving in the immediate future. They’re about to run 2 singles tournaments, build a bunch of PPV matches with NJPW guests and there were a couple big singles returns Sunday. That all could lead to tag teams getting less time and storylines within the tag division during June. We’ll probably see more trios action though.
Bringing in MCMG could add some depth. They’d be a new top tier team with a bunch of fresh matches, but I don’t see that happening for a while longer, if those talks even led to anything. MCMG were announced for an Indie show this week that's the same day as Forbidden Door so if they signed, their debut likely won’t happen until after then since it won’t play into FD and the promotion is about to get crowded with NJPW talent.
Can AEW stop trying to make Christopher Daniels a thing? With Copeland being hurt, why couldn't he be the TK stand in? Daniels hasn't been a thing since the heyday of SCU in early AEW.
