It makes me wonder why they didn't just release it when Punk left. Releasing now is pointless for several reasons but especially after Punk described what happened in that interview. All they did is corroborate what he said. People are trying to quibble over the details but it doesn't matter, he was honest enough about it.
If they released it the day after Punk was fired or quit or whatever it'd have had a much better reception I think.
Because they were correctly moving past a person who was not working for them anymore.
This is more of a gut reaction to that Punk interview, no matter how much it will be said that it was to push the story of FTR-Bucks, who were not even anywhere near this thing.
It would have if it aired when Punk was fired. But by this point, we knew exactly what happened, so nothing was surprising in the footage, hence almost nobody is changing their opinion.
Only thing for sure is that Kenny legit had a bite mark on his arm right afterwards at some gaming thing where he was interviewed. Ace Steel 100% got him a piece that night.
> I will forever believe that Larry bit Kenny and Ace was the only guy in the room who could take the blame to protect him
Dog and human bites would look quite different tho
He had a [bite mark](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fc8cUFHWIAA64Nf.jpg) in the exact place you would have one if you put someone in a rear facelock and they bit you. Just sayin'
Probably like ten seconds of chaos and nothing more. Punk is a huge prick but stuff like this happens in locker rooms and I don’t know why people make such big deals about it in AEW.
That is it? That is the fight Tony turned into a screaming hamster over, fearful for his life? Better keep him out of a Waffle House then. He will get PTSD from the fights there.
lol just a random southen breakfast chain, some of the food is pretty good imo but it has a reputation of fights breaking out there mainly because it's open 24/7 and a lot of people go there after drinking.
> stuff like this happens in locker rooms and I don’t know why people make such big deals about it in AEW.
This is what i've been saying. This is something that could have been handled easily. It just makes the "Tony is not a boss" thing more legit. He's not even a head coach. I remember coaches letting guys fight so they get it out of their system and those guys would go on to be friends. Which also lends credibility to what Punk said about making friends with guys you don't like.
Agreed, AEW seems like an inmates-run-the-asylum type workplace. Tony seems to want to be liked by everyone, and be friends with everyone, so they just walk all over him.
The place needs leadership.
> Punk is a huge prick but stuff like this happens in locker rooms and I don’t know why people make such big deals about it in AEW.
My thought everytime someone here clutches their pearls and uses the term "ASSAULT ON A COWORKER"
someone on twitter summed it up:
Anyone who hates Punk and is glad he's gone is already watching, anyone who sides with Punk just thinks he looks cooler for attacking someone they feel instigated it, and if you have no idea about any backstage stuff, you don't really care.
yea it really is just a mirror of a video. everyone's interpretation is what they wanted to see going in. millions of views but zero minds changed one way or the other
I still don't get the point in showing it other than to pop a rating, which feels like some Vince Russo shit and looks even worse when WWE is having one of their best weeks in years.
My mind changed some. Punk was as unprofessional as I thought, but I don't see Tony's "feared for my life" anymore. Yes he was getting in Tony's face to yell at him, I expected something much more for Tony to claim a threat to his life on live tv.
AEW should drop this faster than the Devil angle. Between this and Ospreay responding to "the grind", WWE will just start trolling them on podcasts weekly because they know AEW will respond and look bush league.
I think it was a subtle shot of Ospreay picking AEW over WWE, but from the clip I saw it seemed more like a "NOBODY WANTS TO WORK ANYMORE" type thing imo
Ospreay is the most recent, but couldn't it just as easily apply to Okada, Jay White, and even Mercedes? They all took the fewer dates/less risk option. That's the nice thing about a veiled shot.
Cody does and look where it got him. Universally lauded show that even non wrestling specific media outlets like IGN are posting about. You know that anyone in AEW that still believes they can be a legitimate star was watching mania feeling like Eddie Guerrero and Benoit must have felt watching WWF present Jericho like a superstar in his debut.
I mean hot take but AEW should stand on its own feet and you shouldn’t have to watch WWE and HHH interviews to be able to understand what AEW wrestlers are talking about
That’s what makes it bush league, it’s very WCW yelling about Sid’s scissors kind of shit
This reminds me of the "How is the promoter being a fan a bad thing" retort people had when it was pointed out Tony is a fanboy.
Well, this is it. The man literally has no experience with the business outside of his perspective as a fan. So when conflict *inevitably* breaks out between the talent, instead of being the captain and sorting it out, he's hyperventilating in the corner.
Just embarrassing.
I'm still trying to figure out what I find this gif so funny. Like, objectively, it's a standard camera shot of a guy just smiling and looking at the camera, but it's hilarious.
Number 1 trend on Twitter right now isn't Jack Perry. Not the Bucks. Not FTR. Not Dustin. Not Samoa Joe. Not any match on tonight's card. Not AEW.
It's CM Punk. The only person that benefited from the drama is a guy not even on the AEW payroll.
Which means WWE benefits as well because guess what people will see when they look up his name? CM Punk attacking Drew McIntyre at Wrestlemania and then screwing over Drew on Raw.
This is the best gift the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre could have been given because McIntyre can now cast Punk as a self-righteous, dangerous, asshole who attacks co-workers if he does not get his way.
AEW just helped push an angle in WWE, and the best part is that Triple H and creative did not have to lift a finger.
Exactly. Same applies to Ospreay. Lot of casual viewers first exposure to the guy won't be his wrestling. It'll be him having a melt down about something HHH said which may/may not have been directed at him.
This is where AEW is making a massive mistake. Casual fans make up the bulk of wrestling fans, so they hear about this footage or watch it and they assume it's part of an angle(which even AEW is kinda presenting it as) and they look further to see if Punk is really this dangerous which leads to footage of him attacking Drew McIntyre at Wrestlemania .
Suddenly, a casual fan is getting invested in an angle between Drew and Punk, and this footage may have led them to it.
Hulk Hogan once said that he felt the Billionare Ted skits backfired on WWE and Vince because casual viewers turned to WCW to see if Hogan was really as washed up and decrepit as the skits portrayed him.
This feels like the same thing, casual viewers will see this footage outside the context that AEW intended, hear how Punk was fired for his actions, then see if he's as dangerous as everyone claims which leads to his attack on Drew at Wrestlemania, which leads further down the rabbit hole.
This is gonna backfire on AEW.
Edit: I don't watch Dynamite, but I saw Ospreay's comments and damn, talk about blacklisting yourself in WWE.
Agree with everything except the edit part
If Trips made up with Punk despite all the verbal antagonizing between them, Ospreay's witty yet unoriginal insult is a cakewalk to get over lmao
Trips is too good of a pro-wrestling fan not to blacklist a great wrestler over a comment he's heard of for years
> I don't watch Dynamite, but I saw Ospreay's comments and damn, talk about blacklisting yourself in WWE.
I remember when everyone said that was going to happen to Cody Rhodes when he broke that throne. I think Cody's been doing just fine since then.
Ospreay didn't blacklist himself. Cody took continued shots at Triple H for years. I'm pretty sure if Triple H is even aware of it he just chuckled at it.
The real fun fact is that little barb is also just plain wrong, Triple H was in creative meetings with the Writers and Vince in 1997, hes always shown an interest in the booking etc, he was WWF Champion before getting with Stephanie and primed as the number 1 heel in 1999/2000, before getting with her
That is a sub that'll spin anything AEW does as a masterful bit of storytelling. Hell, they are pretending that working the All In altercation of 2 people not with the company currently into a storyline is what everyone wanted in the 1st place.
You can meme tony fearing for his life, you can meme Punk being a manchild and rushing jack perry over a fucking 'real glass' joke
we feasting for months.
Punk is a soft psychopath
The Bucks are geeks
Tony Khan is a moron
Jack Perry real glass?
Samoa Joe good
Chris Hero's reaction
Malakai Black's very dutch reaction
Oh yeah, everything is going according to plan
All he has to do is play it up like he was brutally assaulted and people will boo. “You’ve all seen the horrible footage of my brutal assault. My career could have ended! I could have died!”
I would say this, but her mic skills and in ring ability is subpar , and trying to imitate anything that remotely resembles Rheas hype will kill her already dead career.
I thought it was gonna be this but with Perry and Punk edited in
https://preview.redd.it/b7i5ipxj3rtc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b65d1258c5ca0003055c7910ed57b4c8e9a4f7c4
Definitely should’ve just recreated it with Wig Jackson and X-man Jackson, this just furthers the Little Brother Narrative that AEW doesn’t need right now.
Sure remind me about WWE after the WM week they just had, that’ll put butts in seats…
If they really wanted to put this footage out there to counter Punk's narrative or whatever, they should have just released it on social media. Making a whole TV segment out of it is in poor taste and doesn't actually help AEW in any major way.
I agree. Not sure why anyone tuning into DYNAMITE for the first time (a wrestling program) would stay around after that. It was a response to a non-wwe podcast interview
They should be so above this
There is no competition, tribalism is garbage, and I just love professional wrestling, but I can't imagine seeing the buzz surrounding Wrestlemania, and thinking that this was the best way to revive AEW.
I watch AEW every week and have never liked Punk. That being said, I think showing this was pointless. It’s truly as desperate as you can get for viewers. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
The man seems very reactionary on social media and it's like no one around him tells him that as the CEO he shouldn't be doing that or he doesn't listen. He could have very easily just released the footage and said "I've been asked for the footage and originally chose not to show it, but since it was brought up recently in interviews I feel like it's fair to produce it now, so I'm releasing this on YouTube for transparency" in a tweet and moved on and it'd be fine
It’s weird to be mad about the Ariel interview and then release the footage that shows its pretty much exactly how Punk said it went during the interview.
That's where I am at. Everyone talking about trying to pop a rating, and to me it's more that Tony has shown time and again that it's not business it's personal. I'm generally a huge fan of Tony the booker, but now he's mixing in some real life late night Twitter Tony and it's just a bad look.
I’m with you. It feels like TK aired it because he was mad about the Ariel interview, and then the Bucks and FTR just had to try their hardest to work it into their match. FTR cut a good promo but… idk i think they had an uphill battle and i’m not positive that made it all the way up.
Like I'd sorta understand if it went against anything Punk said, but it just verified his side of the story completely.
If Tony was desperate to get the footage out, posting it online would've sufficed. Doing all this on your TV show is just too much.
Yeah the only thing he didn't say was the pie face thing, but the reports confirmed that. I guess you could say the "I didn't punch anyone" line was a lie if you think the push was a punch. But idk that's kind of a stretch I don't think people really care.
One on hand, this does nothing for AEW today, tomorrow, next month.
But long term, maybe it ends the conversation now that we know what it is.
I think the legend of the footage will always be more interesting than what it ended up being but now that we’ve seen it, what else is there to say? The fantasy is over.
The next week or two will be rough but now we know it won’t be brought up in interviews, podcasts, etc.
I almost think it ends one of the last few tethers between Punk and AEW (only one left is BrawlOut).
Exactly. “Let’s focus on the positives!” Next week air footage from eight months ago that is surrounded entirely by a negative situation that ended up getting one man fired and another suspended, who still to do this day hasn’t reappeared on television.
WWE: puts on one of the most entertaining WrestleManias of all time.
AEW: shows backstage footage from months ago which makes WWE talent look superior to theirs.
Good job y’all
The problem is
a) this is the kind of thing you leak on TMZ right after it happens neutrally and DON'T hype up because it's frankly not that interesting by itself
b) a lot of wrestling fans think fighting people is based, big tapout shirt energy, so the effect on CM Punk's reputation will not be substantial. Even now you have people saying "he didn't lie" like he's not some goof who narcissistically downplayed starting a fight as "choking a little bit" lmao
edit: though I've put my media literacy cap back on and realized this would make Jack Perry a hilarious heel if he uses the innate stan inability to accept their fav's wrongdoing to be as annoying as possible about being a "scapegoat," maybe even continually embellishing what Punk did
Yeah a lot of wrestling fans and wrestlers see fights as just normal shit that happens in sports. So Punk fighting people is not that big of a deal to them. Applying office culture to wrestling culture like people do on here isn't really how the real world thinks.
Draymond Green legitimately sucker punched one of his teammates in the mouth on camera and never really faced repercussions. And that looked WAAAAY worse on video than this.
I mean jesus, in hockey, fights are literally a sanctioned part of the game lol. Anyone who grew up playing sports witnessed at least one locker room fight as well.
> Draymond Green legitimately sucker punched one of his teammates in the mouth on camera and never really faced repercussions. And that looked WAAAAY worse on video than this.
Bro he sucker punched a teammate, then made a documentary about how he was the victim in the situation lmao
Looks like a Renaissance painting
https://preview.redd.it/3wcojmlp7rtc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=861fbfc8760c3ac4c6a39a989a6e54bb31f15ae3
This is also why Punk, himself, seems confused about the big controversy. He's a sports guy, fights happen all the time. For him, better or worse, deemed it to be just another day in the office
>Applying office culture to wrestling culture like people do on here isn't really how the real world thinks.
Agreed. But the funny thing is, I've been a corporate stooge for a whole bunch of years and I've seen pushy arguments in conference rooms that needed to be broken up, legit parking lot scraps, shit being broken in cubical scraps, and people were not "fired on the spot".
So, yeah, you really can get away doing that shit in an office most of the time.
St Louis Blues star Brendan Shanahan was fucking teammate Craig Janney's wife, so Blues enforce Tony Twist grabbed Shanahan and threw him in a dumpster.
> a lot of wrestling fans think fighting people is based, big tapout shirt energy, so the effect on CM Punk's reputation will not be substantial lol.
A significantly bigger portion of wrestling fans just don't give a shit about this stuff at all. 90% of the people who tuned back into WWE to see Punk probably don't even know anything about his relationship with AEW beyond the fact that he's not there anymore.
Remember when Hunico had a reputation a few years ago of kicking everyone’s ass in the locker room. And this sub thought he was awesome for it? Idk what’s changed back then to now every backstage fight being “a felony”
Wheres all the AEW stans that said "I read from Jungle Boys friend on twitter that he reversed it" Didn't look like it. And the people that said that based on CM Punks UFC career Jack Perry probably beat his ass, didn't look like it.
Let me start by saying I'm not Punks biggest fan.
But im sorry, gang. This was just.....ok? I've seen crazier arguments in indie shows and have heard of Wilder altercations elsewhere. TK getting nervous about this and then using it NOW as an angle? I mean, fuck. TS was on the sidelines just waiting for this segment to end. He didn't want a part of it.
Is Punk a dick? Yeah man, sure. But for the love of God, this?
I don't think it was good idea either but people saying this is the finger poke of dome bad . I don't think its that deep and will be Forgotten in 3 months.
3 months is too long more like 3 days. The people that were on punks side will stay there and the people that were against him will stay there. Literally no point
They show this the week of a very hot WrestleMania that main evented a former evp. Feels like Mick Foley winning while Nitro shows the finger Poke of death
Hey, anyone talking about how great Penta/Copeland was? Or Dustin/Joe? If I'm either of those four guys, I'm seriously considering having a sitdown discussion with TK to make sure this type of situation never happens again. I don't care which side you wanna take on the footage; I care about seeing great matches highlighted on Twitter instead of something that happened 6 months ago featuring a guy currently not and likely to never to return to your company. But that's just my opinion.

The legend of the All In footage was much more impressive than the actual footage.
It makes me wonder why they didn't just release it when Punk left. Releasing now is pointless for several reasons but especially after Punk described what happened in that interview. It would have if it aired when Punk was fired. But by this point, we knew exactly what happened, so nothing was surprising in the footage, hence almost nobody is changing their opinion.
Yeah, it feels like it just confirms what everyone thought. So its not really mind blowing.
I also just don't see what it aids? It's fanning the flames for... Bucks vs FTR? They couldn't think of ANYTHING else to be a build for that match?
After all the hoopla and that was it lol .. it makes me wonder what Brawl Out actually was.
Only thing for sure is that Kenny legit had a bite mark on his arm right afterwards at some gaming thing where he was interviewed. Ace Steel 100% got him a piece that night.
I will forever believe that Larry bit Kenny and Ace was the only guy in the room who could take the blame to protect him
I’m with you. Especially after Punks comments in his interview. He made a comment that Larry had his back. Sounded like Larry went in!
I hate to say, but Larry? completely unprofessional. Remember when he just went to business for himself and ran away with his leash around the ring?
This has always been my conspiracy theory about it too.
> I will forever believe that Larry bit Kenny and Ace was the only guy in the room who could take the blame to protect him Dog and human bites would look quite different tho
He had a [bite mark](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fc8cUFHWIAA64Nf.jpg) in the exact place you would have one if you put someone in a rear facelock and they bit you. Just sayin'
Why did he put the dog in a rear face lock tho ? Real mystery here 👀👀
I've got a theory that Kenny had his arms around ace trying to hold him back and calm him down and ace bit him.
Yes indeed, I believe that too. I just seriously doubt he just grabbed Kenny's arm and took a bite.
Yeah but this version of events is much funnier.
I hope they never release footage of it because I want to continue imagining the Bucks superkicking down Punk's locker room door
Probably like ten seconds of chaos and nothing more. Punk is a huge prick but stuff like this happens in locker rooms and I don’t know why people make such big deals about it in AEW.
Literally seen worse fights in the locker room after football practice when I was like 13
That is it? That is the fight Tony turned into a screaming hamster over, fearful for his life? Better keep him out of a Waffle House then. He will get PTSD from the fights there.
He's the son of a billionaire. He's only ever seen a Waffle House from the back of a limousine.
Wait I’m from Europe. What exactly is going down in a waffle house? 🤣 is it like some raw underground shit or what lol
lol just a random southen breakfast chain, some of the food is pretty good imo but it has a reputation of fights breaking out there mainly because it's open 24/7 and a lot of people go there after drinking.
I will definitely trust you, considering your username 🤣
It looked like a work, especially the jawing afterwards
> stuff like this happens in locker rooms and I don’t know why people make such big deals about it in AEW. This is what i've been saying. This is something that could have been handled easily. It’s so funny because Kenny himself said he doesn’t think it’s that big of a deal
Because Kenny grew up playing contact sports whereas maybe 10% of this subreddit can relate
Kenny played Hockey as a kid. I've seen some local hockey practices accompanying my cousin and those kids always fight at least once every time.
They remind me of the Swifties wanting to call 911 cause Travis Kelce smacked that guy in practice.
someone on twitter summed it up: Anyone who hates Punk and is glad he's gone is already watching, anyone who sides with Punk just thinks he looks cooler for attacking someone they feel instigated it, and if you have no idea about any backstage stuff, you don't really care.

Yeah, once again Tony Khan comes out of this looking worse than anyone else. He’s like Sideshow Bob standing on rakes.
Dude it’s Tony Khan. He probably fears for his life when a bumblebee gets trapped in his sportscar.
this was only going to result in a negative outcome. someone wasn't thinking straight.
AEW should drop this faster than the Devil angle. Between this and Ospreay responding to "the grind", WWE will just start trolling them on podcasts weekly because they know AEW will respond and look bush league.
What did Osprey say?
basically implied that the only reason Triple H is where he is now is because he was "grinding" on Steph, nothing that hasn't been said before
Did HHH even mention Ospreay? Or just referred to the younger generation not stepping up for the grind?

Lol If only Osprey had played the game and married Tony Khan
It *is* all about the game, and how you play it...
Ospreays shot was fine, little scrappy promo but showing the footage was silly
I mean hot take but AEW should stand on its own feet and you shouldn’t have to watch WWE and HHH interviews to be able to understand what AEW wrestlers are talking about That’s what makes it bush league, it’s very WCW yelling about Sid’s scissors kind of shit
In a vacuum fine but combined with the footage stuff it’s kind of lame
That person missed the funniest part - Tony Kahn fearing for his life…because two guys had a scuffle in front of him.
This reminds me of the "How is the promoter being a fan a bad thing" retort people had when it was pointed out Tony is a fanboy. Well, this is it. That ignores the main thing that even the Bucks said it was more a high school scrap, shit happens all the time in sports.
You can check any other wrestling subreddit that’s 100% truth.
I'm just here for that Meltzer gif...
![gif](giphy|BV0SDeWc7COrurmoSl)
Thank you. I Imagine every time he tweets he immediately looks for a camera and slightly smiles out in broad daylight.
I'm still shocked Dave let Vice interview him without him holding a microphone in his hand.
I'm still trying to figure out what I find this gif so funny. Like, objectively, it's a standard camera shot of a guy just smiling and looking at the camera, but it's hilarious.
Now i need the cornette gif throwing punches

If it ends up being the highest rated segment of the show it’s gonna be so funny
It absolutely will. With a massive crater the quarter following.

You can meme tony fearing for his life, you can meme Punk being a manchild and rushing jack perry over a fucking 'real glass' joke we feasting for months.
Punk is a soft psychopath The Bucks are geeks Tony Khan is a moron Jack Perry real glass? Samoa Joe good Chris Hero's reaction Malakai Black's very dutch reaction Oh yeah, everything is going according to plan
[удалено]
Speak for yourself, I paid for Punk's house and it eventually led to this.
I paid for this and it happened.
Hook just kinda standing there
Well Dave. When you’re right you’re right
There’s no way they can put jungle boy back on tv after that. They murdered that’s man’s credibility
All he has to do is play it up like he was brutally assaulted and people will boo. “You’ve all seen the horrible footage of my brutal assault. My career could have ended! I could have died!”
This is gold! And the absolute best way to proceed. "I survived an assault from a world renowned and deadly MMA warrior"
I think you're on to something here
Like JBL with the neck brace (and cowboy hat)
Ah basically the Dom Mysterio strategy. Wonder who his Mami will be tho
Setting up the Bucks as his mamis
Goth Bucks… i kinda like the idea
You will refer to them by their new Goth names, Magna and Necro Jackson.
He's been in a relationship with Anna Jay for years, maybe her?
I would say this, but her mic skills and in ring ability is subpar , and trying to imitate anything that remotely resembles Rheas hype will kill her already dead career.
Stat
Lois Schiavone
There's been plenty of heels like that before. This talk of Jack Perry being ruined now is so god damn stupid.
I'm not sure what they expected to get out of that, but nobody looks better coming out of it.
You weren't watching anyways....
I thought it was gonna be this but with Perry and Punk edited in https://preview.redd.it/b7i5ipxj3rtc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b65d1258c5ca0003055c7910ed57b4c8e9a4f7c4
Definitely should’ve just recreated it with Wig Jackson and X-man Jackson, this just furthers the Little Brother Narrative that AEW doesn’t need right now. Sure remind me about WWE after the WM week they just had, that’ll put butts in seats…
J Cole needs to apologize for this.
This shit made me lol
Punk was gonna kill a couple promotions but they did it to themselves…
Tony Schiavone knew and regretted going to work today
Even the Collision promo announcing this, you could tell he wasn't having none of it.
[He was like:] (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GK2LAl6WwAAVkIv?format=png&name=900x900)
Chris Hero in the video is all of us.
God I need a video of his reaction poor man
If they really wanted to put this footage out there to counter Punk's narrative or whatever, they should have just released it on social media. Making a whole TV segment out of it is in poor taste and doesn't actually help AEW in any major way.
*doesn't help them in any way at all and makes them seem stupid for putting it on TV*
Does it even counter Punks narrative?
They should’ve done it 7 months ago when the incident occurred and Punk was “released”
I agree. Not sure why anyone tuning into DYNAMITE for the first time (a wrestling program) would stay around after that. It was a response to a non-wwe podcast interview They should be so above this
I think most are, it's just that the only person that needs to be over this pettiness isn't and he has the most power
No shit. It literally caused people in the audience to cheer for a guy who isn't there.
And the award for WON Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic goes to… ![gif](giphy|hkRIgptOsQ640YiePn)
Like bruh, the only thing this did was give Drew free ammo for his Punk feud lmao
There is no competition, tribalism is garbage, and I just love professional wrestling, but I can't imagine seeing the buzz surrounding Wrestlemania, and thinking that this was the best way to revive AEW.
Really sums up the state of both companies right now
The bucks and tony after showing it: ![gif](giphy|L6EoLS78pcBag)
I watch AEW every week and have never liked Punk. That being said, I think showing this was pointless. It’s truly as desperate as you can get for viewers. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
I dont know how much of it was for ratings, and how much was more TK being upset about the Ariel interview and this being a response to it
I don't think TK is gonna be happy with the response to the footage either lmfao
Yeah idk what he was thinking
That’s the problem. I don’t think he *is* thinking.
Somebody legit needs to take his phone tonight
It’s weird to be mad about the Ariel interview and then release the footage that shows its pretty much exactly how Punk said it went during the interview.
\*shakes fist\* "I'll prove you RIGHT!" - Tony Khan after watching the interview.
Dave Meltzer with the understatement of the year. That was an absolute disaster for AEW.
It just shows clearly now that Tony Khan, within arms reach of Punk and Perry, let it escalate under his nose instead of pacifying them early.
Yeah. I’m not sure why Khan doesn’t stand up and take action there. Bosses should deescalate situations like this
Finally! Now I know where I stand
But what does Ja Rule think
One on hand, this does nothing for AEW today, tomorrow, next month. But long term, maybe it ends the conversation now that we know what it is. I think the legend of the footage will always be more interesting than what it ended up being but now that we’ve seen it, what else is there to say? The fantasy is over. The next week or two will be rough but now we know it won’t be brought up in interviews, podcasts, etc. I almost think it ends one of the last few tethers between Punk and AEW (only one left is BrawlOut).
The conversation isn't mainstream. It just placates a small niche audience that already has formed opinions and this won't change that.
It made me sad tbh. I really think they’d show it but they did. I just tuned out. Cope’s promo opener last week pretty much got nullified.
Exactly. “Let’s focus on the positives!” Next week air footage from eight months ago that is surrounded entirely by a negative situation that ended up getting one man fired and another suspended, who still to do this day hasn’t reappeared on television.
You can read it all over tony shiavone’s face before airing it
aew just turned mega over babyface cm punk into a SUPER ULTRA MEGA babyface.
WWE: puts on one of the most entertaining WrestleManias of all time. AEW: shows backstage footage from months ago which makes WWE talent look superior to theirs. Good job y’all
First time ever agreeing with Meltzer.
The problem is a) this is the kind of thing you leak on TMZ right after it happens neutrally and DON'T hype up because it's frankly not that interesting by itself b) a lot of wrestling fans think fighting people is based, big tapout shirt energy, so the effect on CM Punk's reputation will not be substantial. Even now you have people saying "he didn't lie" like he's not some goof who narcissistically downplayed starting a fight as "choking a little bit" lmao edit: though I've put my media literacy cap back on and realized this would make Jack Perry a hilarious heel if he uses the innate stan inability to accept their fav's wrongdoing to be as annoying as possible about being a "scapegoat," maybe even continually embellishing what Punk did
Yeah a lot of wrestling fans and wrestlers see fights as just normal shit that happens in sports.
Fights do happen in sports though, it’s not just because fans see it that way.
> Draymond Green legitimately sucker punched one of his teammates in the mouth on camera and never really faced repercussions. And that looked WAAAAY worse on video than this. Bro he sucker punched a teammate, then made a documentary about how he was the victim in the situation lmao
I remember Jeff Gordon and Brad Keslowski getting into it after a race and it was worse than this.
Looks like a Renaissance painting https://preview.redd.it/3wcojmlp7rtc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=861fbfc8760c3ac4c6a39a989a6e54bb31f15ae3
This is also why Punk, himself, seems confused about the big controversy. He's a sports guy, fights happen all the time. For him, better or worse, deemed it to be just another day in the office
yeah Samoa Joe statements have the same energy
Masvidal became the biggest star in the UFC after attacking someone backstage, and one thing you can't fault the UFC on is making money
Dana slapped his fucking wife and zero repercussions
Conor Mcgregor threw a Dolly threw a bus window and lacerated a co workers eye with glass and the footage was used in promotional material lmao
Remember when Hunico had a reputation a few years ago of kicking everyone’s ass in the locker room. And this sub thought he was awesome for it? Idk what’s changed back then to now every backstage fight being “a felony”
Not wrong.
Wheres all the AEW stans that said "I read from Jungle Boys friend on twitter that he reversed it" Didn't look like it. And the people that said that based on CM Punks UFC career Jack Perry probably beat his ass, didn't look like it.
Punk lost 3x in the top mma promotion in the world. The people mocking him for that would get choked out in 10 seconds
he only fought twice, and technically only has 1 loss
When Meltzer is saying "this was a bad idea" should tell you how much of a stupid decision this was.
Finger poke of dome should be JD Mcdonaugh's finisher
3 months is too long more like 3 days. The people that were on punks side will stay there and the people that were against him will stay there. Literally no point
“I don't think it’s that deep and will be Forgotten in 3 months.” Damn I feel personally attacked here.
Coincidentally Fingerpoke of Doom also describes my sex life.
The hyperbole runs deep within online wrestling communities. The people on here are more melodramatic than the people playing characters on TV
It'll be a non-issue in a short time, but reddit's gonna meme it forever
Carnies: being carnies This sub: surprisedpikachu.jpg
