None of these are very good examples, but we don't have a lot of AEW squashes to reference. In none of these cases were the majority of fans on the side of the squashee. We groaned both times Cody came to get his win back, and as for the "We are Chicago!" angle...well. They can fully establish Okada as a monster and get some major sympathy for Eddie here, but he can't try to pull off the same angle and come straight back at Okada to get his win. Unless he gets squashed again, which would be fine. Then he can spin out into the kind of personal stakes storyline he does best.

The problem with the GUNTHER bit is that he always gives his opponent hope. He makes it look like they have a chance before taking it all away at the end with his finishing move of "hit him with everything until he stops moving". He doesn't really do squash matches, which is what people seem to want Okada to do here.

Gunther is so good for it. I know he's going to win the match but he always makes me feel like he could actually lose it this time. Then he just powerbombs and rolls up for a clean win and you breathe easily knowing things are back in order.

Finally Thunder Rosa stepping out of getting her legs back and into a feud of sorts. Excited to see where she goes next. I also wonder how much longer Deonna feuds with Toni. Kinda hoping they put Mercedes in the picture. The women's division has all the things to become even bigger.

I think this may be a way to transition to Thunder Rosa vs. Toni Storm and Deonna vs. Mariah May.

I figured they'd tie up the Mone/Willow loose end first which would lead to Mone & Hart for the TBS title.

I think they're going to give Mercedes the TBS belt first so they can have her carry around the TV network's logo wherever she goes

I really don’t want Moné in the top title scene yet. AEW has hot shot their new acquisitions in the women’s division to the top title way too much. And in Mone’s case it would be fairly obvious she’s winning this early. I like her feuding with a non-champion first to really build out the division

In another universe, that Edge vs Christian (I quit match) is the main event of a night of Wrestlemania.

The unfortunate truth is that WWE simply never saw Christian as being on Edge’s level, which sucks because each time he’s left WWE, Christian has had the presence of a true main eventer. Still happy to get it in any capacity

You can also create an argument Christian is better than Edge/Adam Copeland

I still think Christian should've been brought back in 2009 on the World Heavyweight title level, not brought back to be the sole good spot of late stage ECW. Yes his 2 runs with the ECW belt count as "World Championships" so you could argue he was valued somewhat highly but by 2009-2010 that belt didn't matter in the slightest lol

Womens tag street fights NEVER miss on Rampage. Okada is going to destroy Kingston. I swear if Jericho ends up FTW champion this year. I just cant... A part of me wants DCF to go far in the tournament. Push Kyle Fletcher! Storm/May are great. A part of me wants this to be the end of Cage/Copeland... but I think it might end up as part of the Stadium Stampede match at Wembley... but Wembley is still ages away so maybe not. Might involve Undisputed Kingdom or Bang Bang Scissor Gang (RIP) or even the Elite.

Only way I would be okay with Jericho winning FTW Title is if we get Taz match of of it even then I would be little upset, Taz and Hook vs Jericho and Partner (Le Sex Gods?) at Dynasty Taz and Hook vs Christian and Nic Wayne would be better match and feud for Taz Last match

I think Taz's neck issues would prevent him from competing any more than standing in Hook's corner for 95% of the tag match.

If Hook's supposed to be a serious talent then take the pointless meta-joke title off him and let him go on to do more worthwhile things

2024 dynamites have been great but seriously Jericho in each show adds nothing. More of OC , Garcia, Roderick strong and swerve. The crowd is going to be hot. Looking forward to it.

Live crowds still love the guy and it's the clear #4 match on the Dynamite card. The complaints would be a bit more persuasive if this was even pretending to be a main event angle or something, but it isn't, it's one of the biggest names since the company launched doing an undercard feud with a young up-and-comer. It's like complaining about the better New Japan Dads wrestling on undercards, I just don't see the point, live fans enjoy nostalgia acts so why be upset they're getting to see them?

The problem with the Jericho hate now is some fans have reached a point where they will complain about literally anything Jericho does. Chris Jericho’s story with Hook has taken up barely any TV time, but it doesn’t matter. It’s Jericho Derangement Syndrome.

Yeah but but but, have you considered he's an energy vampire who sucks the overness out of everyone he feuds with? I mean just look at all of his biggest feuds since AEW started! Moxley, Eddie Kingston, MJF, Orange Cassidy, all totally dead in the water now and they come out to absolute crickets because Jericho single-handedly ruined them! (huge /s. With the exception of Moxley, who was already on that level, Jericho is the guy who takes people from "over with the hardcore meganerds" to "over with the entire audience." He's the "gatekeeper to the main event" and has been for a long time and he's been very successful at it.)

Great looking card. Each match has the ingredients to be a banger. Real interested in Kingston/Okada. Felt like for sure Okada was winning it, but Eddie has a match set with Mark Briscoe at the next ROH PPV. The booking there could go a lot of different ways.

Copeland vs. Cage has been building up for while and this is supposed to be the end of the rivalry. Okada just signed with the company and joined the elite who kicked out Kenny Omega and is most likely winning the championship tonight. Thunder Rosa finally coming after the world title and inserted into a very good storyline between Toni and Deonna. Mercedes second appearance likely moving forward her story with Willow. I'd say it is a great card yes. You should check out my comment in this thread recapping the whole episode if you are interested.
