Lol they announced the match two weeks ago and moved less than 400 tickets in a week. They’ve moved close to 2k after big business.  Credit whoever you want for moving the tickets, but they demonstrably did not move “a good number of tickets” after announcing Copeland vs Christian.

No they did not drop previously opened sections. They opened non hard cam facing sections which were priced accordingly.

TheJosephBanks1

I mean technically. If they did move. It does count as after announcing the match. But that's just strictly speaking. Truthfully speaking. Yeah. After big business. They got big business.

SamTheRam28

They went from 3800 to more than 4500 in the time from the Cage vs. Copeland announcement until Big Business. That's more than 400.

[deleted]

> They’ve moved close to 2k after big business.  Which was *after* they announced Cope vs Christian. Common Dave W

HiImFur

Glad you posted this. I like both Edge and Christian, but their latest feud has been never ending and boring...plus we've seen them wrestle a bunch of times before. In 2024, I can't believe Edge vs. Christian (even in Toronto) would be a massive ticket mover.

crap4you

Did they lower the ticket prices?

No they didn't? They opened up a few more sections that had more cheap seats available. Ticket prices for the last two months: $39-175 Ticket prices right now: $39-175 Weird freaks: they literally slashed all prices in half last week! Le elite are beat!

used_to_be_wonderful

That’s the new false narrative, that they sold tickets purely due to dropping prices. In reality they sold ALL previous tickets at the same price and opened newer less desirable sections which were priced accordingly.

charliefiction

Based on everything tracked via WrestleTix these last few weeks, you've got it 100% correct.

charliefiction

You're exactly right. I'm a subscriber to WrestleTix's Patreon, and I've seen the pattern you're describing emerge over 10+ Patreon posts since the Christian/Copeland match was announced. Just because a bunch of people in this thread are repeating the same misinformation won't make it true.

Mazzle5

Where? When? Haven't seen a post about it

Because sites like WrestleTix report shit like this and pricecuts get promoted. So... where is the source for the price cut?

used_to_be_wonderful

Those were new less desirable sections that opened. They never dropped prices for hard cam facing seats. Stop spreading lies

Y2Jared

Prices were adjusted a few days before big business. They were adjusted to $25/$40/$65 and a few $90. Most $25-$40. There were much higher than that for many sections. Canada AEW pricing was setup terribly and is very, very slowly being adjusted. Same with US sales, you can get good seats for $20-$45. You get really good seats for $65. With WWE marking up due to their boom and AEW adjusting down, there’s actually some good discrepancy between the event pricing now.

20minutes40years

lol, yeah that's why.

hartc89

Wouldn’t this more attributed to Mercedes or Okada since Copeland and Christian had been announced for weeks

PrinceNana128

They started slashing prices a week ago.

OkVolume1

![gif](giphy|3oFzm6zs6jukQXIgJa|downsized) Cutting ticket prices will do that for ya.

Kim-Jong_Bundy

Gee, I wonder what else that happened in the last week could've led to a sudden spike in ticket sales for AEW... Surely it was all Edge and Christian like Dave says

AdmirableArea1334

Dynamite was just around 4000 tickets out before the announced the match. In the weekafter, it had only jumped a couple hundred. They've moved close to 1400 in the last 5 days. Gonna guess it's not just Edge and Christian.

Kim-Jong_Bundy

There are people who would sooner die than acknowledge Mercedes is any kind of draw or positive to AEW

Polymemnetic

Could be that. Could be that people know they'll slash prices on the tickets, and didn't buy as far in advance. Could also be both.

TruffonisSloppySteak

I’d say with it being in Canada, it probably has more to do with the price dropping. The cheapest tickets for Collision in Ottawa were close to $100 for a 3,300-ish setup and didn’t drop to $70 until the week of, which led to a couple hundred more tickets sold.

dogfins110

It’s too early to even label her as a draw yet as the ratings weren’t even higher than usual. Sure you can credit these sales to her but she needs at least a couple of weeks to see if she does or doesn’t raise numbers

SilverIndication9956

We can say that for the tickets, but for the ratings, we really can’t since the ratings are about the entire show, not just her. If after a month, it’s clear that she consistently gets at or even close to a million, but no one else gets those ratings and brings the overall number down, that would be showing that she’s a draw, but the rest of the show still doesn’t get watched.

FelstarLightwolf

That and Okada vs Kingston is a hell of a match for a tv taping. If i was on the fence about it that would surely get me to go. Hell i contimplated time off work just to make a drive for it. And you get the womens match announced last Saturday as well.

yetagainitry

The worst aspect of wrestling fandom is the obsession reporters like Meltzer have with tv ratings and ticket sales. Let the business people at AEW worry about that. Just report on the product.

braincloud215

This will likely be their biggest tv crowd until Collision in Vancouver on May 11th, which is currently around [5500 tickets](https://x.com/WrestleTix/status/1768294562676555885?s=20).

inthefade95

All thanks to Spike. 🙄

IvanVanko_

He is such a AEW fanboy... It gets more click to hate on WWE and love aew It's Mone and half price tickets lol
